I came here by myself during lunch break, and it was nearby where I worked so I decided to give it a try. The buffet selection was laughable, it's basically variation on bulgogi, some boiled teriyaki chicken in water????!! I honestly can't tell if the bulgogi was beef or pork, all of it were disgusting (gamey, sweet, so nasty...). The fried dumplings were clearly frozen not hand made. You can tell no-one comes here so they barely had anything. I think I must have taken 3 bites and left the rest. The food at this place is pretty much dog food quality. I suspect the owner is operating this as a tourists' trap since the convention center is nearby, therefore he doesn't give a flying f-k for return customers. DONT COME HERE!!!! BE WARNED! The photos in the yelp profile are from the past and are NOT an accurate depiction of what you will get in this restaurant today. The one star is for me not getting food poisoning afterwards, thank god for that!!! Craving some greasy (in a delicious way, of course) Asian food and don't want a whole plate of just one item? This is the place for you!! I work in the same building so I've been here quite a few times, and I've had a good experience walking in, picking some items for my plate (it's self-serve), paying, and eating. When the weather is nice, I like the option of eating outside. The sushi options and salads aren't great, so it's probably best to stop by when you want a little rice, a little tofu with sauce, a few pieces of teriyaki chicken, a couple pieces of sweet n sour chicken, some general tsao chicken... You can go big or small (they charge based on weight of the food) and obviously you can choose to get a lot of one item, but I love getting a variety of flavors and textures, so I prefer to get small servings of everything I like (or am craving). The other great thing? I never encounter lines and it takes very little time to get a filling lunch. There will be basically nothing left. The salad bar had the usual items along with some fruit options. Fortunately, as a vegetarian, I don't eat the meat that most people like. I saw lots of chicken dishes (no thanks), mixed veggies, seaweed salad, cabbage, tofu, and the reason I will be back, the sweet potato. I always seem to find one item that I fall in love with and could eat for days. This sweet potato dish is it! And I know this only after eating the last three remaining sweet potatoes. There were tons of options. Lots of them were empty so late in the afternoon--so I guess I should say there "were" lots of options before people ate them all LOL. Quality: Some dishes were greasier than I would have liked. This is not Whole Foods where they use the highest quality ingredients, but the items were pretty tasty. I just picked and chose carefully. Whenever I don't bring lunch to work, I can always count on World Fresh Asian Eatery to fill my day with joy. I love the variety of vegetables, meats, fish, sushi, tofu, etc. that they have in the salad bar. Paying by the pound is a great concept because you can grab as much or little food as you want. Sometimes this isn't a great idea because I get overly greedy and can't finish it because it feels like there's not enough food when you first put it on your plate. The food is always very fresh and having the different options is very nice and convenient. I've gone here a few times over the years, and it was never very good, despite how great it smells. They used to have a buffet, and it seemed like they just cooked a ton of chicken and then separated it into 5 different pans and then dumped 5 different pre-made sauces on top, and maybe added a few veggies. I recently heard they were making all food to order, so I decided to give it another shot. Yesterday I went back and got chicken teriyaki with yakisoba instead of rice, plus a bottled Diet Pepsi. My total was $15.98 before tip and I got a to go container that was shockingly light. I opened it and there was 3 pieces of cold broccoli in one of the compartments, a salad with a vinaigrette dressing in another, 9 pieces of chicken teriyaki in another, and a very small amount of yakisoba in the final compartment. I was annoyed. I started eating it, and it was awful. The chicken was definitely not fresh, it was old and chewy from being reheated, and the sauce was so salty I could barely eat it. I wiped most of the sauce off just so I could get through it. The yakisoba tasted like vinegar. I don't understand why the broccoli was cold... this was just an awful meal. Better known 'round these parts as Food By The Pound. I always get more than a pound of food, it seems, which disgusts me a little bit, but I think they have secret tactics to make your selections heavier. For example, the veggies at the salad bar are cut in huge chunks. Who takes just one cucumber? The chunks are heavy, so I get one of every chunk and cut them up when I get back to my desk. Their sushi is really not that bad... or maybe I'm just used to it. I also really like their spicy tofu dish, which they have pretty much every day, and the tempura. Minus one star for always playing Christian music in there, but again, this might be a tactic to turn tables over faster. I believe that you have to judge things with an eye toward what they are. For example, I cannot compare World Fresh Asian Eatery with Wild Ginger, because it's a completely different animal. And (hopefully) World Fresh would always pale in comparison. But World Fresh is a cafeteria-style buffet, and if I am imagining what the best Asian-themed cafeteria-style buffet could be, World Fresh is pretty close. I really enjoyed the fried rice (although I could have been "stickier" in my opinion) and the sweet and sour chicken was super good. However, the reason I gave it only 4 stars was because I was disappointed with the teriyaki. I've had much more delicious experiences elsewhere. Also, my tempura vegetables were cold! I had my working lunch here today. It was my second time (my first being a year ago). I feel like by the pound places can get pricey fast so I was careful not to get too greedy. They have a variety here: salad, prepared salads, sushi, rice, chow mein, spring rolls, tempura, katsu etc. I had some tuna salad, a noodle salad, a cold stir fry of mushrooms and zucchini, sushi and a piece of shrimp katsu. It actually ended up being just undr 1 lb so my lunch came to just over $6 with tax. Not bad and how much you spend is controllable (since I figured out I can control it) which is nice. The staff was very nice and offered a rubber band since I was carrying things for work too. The food was ...ok. I mean, I didn't expect luxury. The warm foods would have probably been better than the salads and sushi because the shrimp katsu was good. The salads were ok but it was the sushi I had a problem with-The rice seemed weird and the seafood was weird. The tuna had a strange texture and none of it really seemed like sushi. It wasn't even supermarket sushi quality so I probably will skip that and get some fried rice or something instead next time. It's okay if you're looking for a quick meal. Prices are fair, and you pay by weight. I used to come here more often 2 years ago but I think the quality is not as good as it used to be. The worst is their sauce, I've been 10 times in the 5 years I've worked nearby. Each time the sauce gets thicker and thicker. It use to just be a few items, now it's all of them.
