Wrights Tavern definitely lives up to their hype. From the moment we walked in, the whole experience felt elevated but still warm and welcoming. The ambiance is classy without being stuffy. It's perfect for a girls' night, date night, or just treating yourself. Our server was AMAZING and handled our table so seamlessly, which made the experience even better. For food, I ordered the steak frites, and we also tried their tavern burger and the potato halibut, which we're all so flavorful and nicely plates. My favorite dish of the night: their mac and cheese. I recommend placing a reservation a month in advance. That and the size of the space were my only concerns. Other than that, I will definitely be back!

Great service and food!! Ambiance is perfect for a date. You'll need reservations but it's worth it. Cocktails were perfect, as well! Save room for dessert. We had swordfish, oysters, scallops, and cheesecake...all were fantastic!

Recommend. Steak was amazing. So tender. Reservations can be hard to come by. There are four seats at the bar. Go early and wait in line if you want to ensure you get first dibs on the bar seats. On the Saturday I went, there were four people waiting prior to opening. The bartender and entire staff was great, respectful, polite, attentive. The bread and butter was so good. The butter had olive oil and spices with it. One of the best bread dishes I had. The crab cake was large and full of crab. Very flavorful. The Caesar salad was fresh and tasty. Not overdressed and each element well put together. The filet was amazing. Soooooo tender and seasoned well. The sauce was ok, I like having sauce but the taste was just ok for me. The steak was great, perfectly cooked and didn't need any sauce. The fries were good. The onion rings were very good. These are large sides. I wanted to try dessert but was full. They boxed our leftovers for us. A great meal. Recommend. The restaurant is small, tables seemed fairly close together. Street parking with a small lot on the side.

Wow this place is delicious! A cute little spot you might miss it if you walk by too fast! Our server did a great job explaining the menu and off the menu options. The drinks were so strong we only needed one haha. And the foooood! First off, the bread was delicious. Secondly, the scallops were fabulous. Thirdly, I loved my potato crushed halibut and green beans. The sauce was *chef's kiss*. We were too full for dessert but we'll definitely go again :) It's a great spot for a date, celebration, or just a nice night out on the town!

WT is like finding a Diamond in the rough, WOW! Impeccable, knowledgeable and friendly service, intimate/quaint atmosphere, excellent freshly prepared foods, trendy spot, great cocktails and wine; but also know it's $$$$ pricey, loud and not easy to get a reservation (limited to 2 or 4 persons). Memorable experience, worth it for a special occasion or just a great nite out with friends! Overall, 4.75 rated for me, and expect to spend ~$100pp (or more) if getting a 3-course meal with apps, entrees, dessert plus drinks. Today we shared the Tavern Onion Rings and Crab-cake for starters. Full portion of freshly battered Rings with an Aioli dipping sauce and ketchup. The Crab-Cake was generous with Fresh Maryland Blue Crab served atop a special Remoulade sauce (slightly salty today). I actually enjoyed the Aioli dip sauce more with the Crab cake. And the Rings made a good shareable. Next time I'd like to try some Oysters or Shrimp Cocktail. For dinner, we ordered the Scallops Special entree, Steak Frites, an extra Crabcake and the French Dip Sandwich. Each dish was thoroughly enjoyed and tasty! And I can honestly say this was one of the BEST French Dip Roast Beef sandwiches I've ever eaten; generous portion, tender beef, havarti cheese on a warmly baked sesame roll with Au jus and creamy horseradish sauce ... oh and the fresh pommes frites fantastic too - YUM! Don't think you could go wrong with any menu item here. Lastly, we ordered the Creme Brûlée dessert (Bday gal's fave)! Prepared perfectly, it was so creamy and flavorful, with top sugar flamed to a golden brown. Enough to share for 2. Don't miss this if you are a Creme Brûlée aficionado! Finally, just to mention their handcrafted Old Fashioned drinks were excellent - coulda sipped these all night! Nice wine list as well. So if you enjoy splurging on a meal and are a Foodie like me, Wrights Tavern is a must try. ENJOY!!!

I cannot rant and rave enough about Wright's. It is probably my favorite restaurant in St. Louis... If you can snag a reservation! They open up about a month in advance. Reserve it through Resy, keep your eyes open. But it is definitely worth it. It's a hidden little spot. When you are walking down, Wydown, you will miss it if you blink! And keep in mind it is street parking only. So on the weekends and busy dinner times... Allow extra time to find a spot. Everything on the menu is better than the next. Service is impeccable. Their martini is to die for. I could eat here every night for the rest of my life and be totally satisfied. It is a very tiny place, that's why it's so hard to get into. It's a dark and almost secretive vibe. But not too quiet. Still very upbeat. Almost speakeasy-like. It's a can't miss spot in STL. 10/10.

Did you know you can book a Friday night 10:30pm reservation here?! I found out after driving 5+ hours from out of town. We met our friend here who RAVES about this place, and for good reason! I wish I remembered our server's name - he was really good. Kind, patient, actually talked to us a bit. Our food was really delicious. The bread with the olive oil and the butter....bye. I'm done. Just give me a vat of that and I'll be just fine. It was so dang good. We shared a large crab cake that was the best I've ever had. My dinner mates had some oysters that they enjoyed. I ordered a spicy vodka sauce pasta dish. It was really good, but they weren't kidding about the spice. You've been warned! ;) The wine (red blend) was lovely and I could have easily had another if I wasn't driving. We shut the place down and left with very full bellies. I really liked the vibe here. Kind of a speakeasy, easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Dark and moody with great food. That's a winning combo!

Amazing experience! It was well worth the wait when we made our reservation. Food was incredible, from scallops to steak, everything tasted great. Secondly the cocktails were great as well. Maybe the best espresso martini I ever had. Our waiter was personable and quick to make sure we had everything we needed. Such a cozy restaurant, it is truly a great experience for those looking for a special occasion.

I've been wanting to try Wright's Tavern for a long time. I snagged a reservation and I was delighted! First of all SERVICE. It's tip top for StL. Priscilla (proper spelling) was our server and she was perfect. She gave us time but not too much time and answered all of our questions without seeming like we bothered her by asking. She was so knowledgeable about every topic in which we inquired. She was so so so good. Super kind and very attentive. Her assistants for the evening didn't let us get our water glasses very empty until they were refilled. The hostess was at her station when we arrived with a kind smile and sweet greeting. Every single person we encountered was so ready to serve and help. My hubs dropped a knife, he had a new one within 10 seconds, same with his napkin. AMBIANCE: simple, sweet and charming in the most delightful way. Good pencils and paper covering on the table to doodle and sketch and play games if you'd like. Perfect lighting. Perfectly quaint. Great first date night place or special occasion or just a delightful Tuesday night dinner. ;) FOOD & DRINK: Wow. Hubby had an Old Fashion and I had a Pink Lady. We both loved them. Hubby gave his OF the highest score he's given and OF anywhere. Sooo good. We had the bread with butter / olive oil and this is just silly but it was insanely amazing. Seriously next level bread and "butter." I would go back just for that. He chose a (medium) burger and fries. I had a (medium rare) filet and dauphinoise potatoes. The filet was like butter, perfectly cooked and amazingly delicious. My hubs couldn't stop talking about his burger so I gave him a bite of my filet and then he couldn't stop talking about my filet. Hahaha We both ate my potatoes and thought there were soooo scrummy but he really loved the aioli that came with his fries. We decided to share the wedding cake for dessert at Priscilla's recommendation and it did not disappoint. My hubs originally said he wanted it more dense and I disagreed because it was the most light and airy cake I've ever eaten. After a couple bites, he agreed he wouldn't change anything about it because it was so so so good. He ordered me a little 10 year port to finish off (my fav) and it was perfect. PERSONAL PREFERENCES: The bathroom! It was clean. The light was on a dimmer () which was nice and there is a optional fan switch. The towels are linen-like meaning you can use one and get your hands entirely dry which is less waste and more sanitary. All said, we couldn't have hoped for a better experience. From walking in, to walking out was well beyond a 10/10. Some pics were snapped after we had already dived in.

I was excited when my friend wanted her birthday dinner at Wright's Tavern. From the food menu, we ordered French Dip, Potato-crusted Halibut, and Ribeye. From the dessert menu, we got their Tavern Hot fudge sundae, Wedding Cake, and crème brulee. That was the whole dessert menu. Everything we ate was delicious! Service was excellent and attentive! This place gets packed quickly, so I highly recommend making a reservation. Street parking!

My fiancé and I FINALLY got a reservation here!! It is a small restaurant with maybe 10 tables so it is a bit tight inside. The service was great and our waiter was awesome! We skipped the drinks but they looked amazing. We ordered crab cakes, halibut, French dip, and Mac n cheese to share. All phenomenal! The portions are huge and can easily be split into two meals. We had no room left for dessert but we look forward to coming back to try that and drinks and other entrees.

I ordered a ginger beer with cranberry juice added to it for a refreshing mocktail. We ordered the Squeaky Cheese to start, the golden-brown cheese curds were gooey and had the perfect crunch. They were served with marinara and a serrano dill aioli. The aioli had just the right amount of spice, complementing the dill flavor. The marinara was saucy and also good. I ordered the Bacon Jam Burger with fries. The burger was juicy, sweet, and had a nice crunch. The bacon jam was subtle, but it enhanced the overall flavor. My only complaint was that the bottom bun came out a bit soggy causing the burger to lose structure as I ate it. The fries were thin and crunchy! My eggs and salad dish came out next, along with an order of their toasted sourdough bread, butter and jam I ordered (their specialty). Unfortunately, the toast was cold, as was the liquidy fruit jam. Butter was ice cold out of the frig too since it has been forgotten and needed to be retrieved. The small green salad was fresh and tasty, but the two scrambled eggs were cold and rubbery. It was hard to know who was out server because aside from the seating hostess, four more people arrived, one after the other, at varying times to get the meal and forgotten items to our small party of three. I was left feeling that more training and organized timing of meals is needed at this establishment.

Nothing divey about a hip cocktail or hip deviled eggs -- these are sophisticated modern twists, the exact move wine bars make and dives don't. A chalkboard of specials and weathered seating gesture at the aesthetic; the rest of the room knows. Kendall Roy of restaurants -- comes from privilege, wants badly to be of the people. It's a bit, and mostly the kitchen and bar back it up. Nevertheless, we arrived to a full room, hour wait for a table, but we fortunately arrived to snag the last first come patio table. The bar was also full, by the way, which felt neighborhood like, people clearly like this place during happy hour. The old fashioned makes the case: Old Grand-Dad Bonded, pickled rye, cognac, butterscotch bitters. Two whiskeys and a bitter you won't find at an actual dive. Rich, a little sweet. The harissa deviled eggs keep going -- fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro, marinated tomato jam. You know, just like the old dive with the $1 PBR.Deviled eggs for people that don't like deviled eggs. However, we love deviled eggs...foreshadowing. The short ribs are the headline -- fall-apart tender over whipped potatoes substantial enough to stand up to the meat, gravy spot on. Eats like a perfectly executed roast dinner. The brie burger is the sneaky second hit, genuinely decadent, bacon with the cheese melting into the beef. The service was good and pleasant and that felt more like dive-friendly, where you might expect a wine "bar" to be snooty or full of themselves. 4.4 Stars Picking Nits: hip deviled eggs that reach past what they can hold. Tomato jelly on top is a lot going on, in the wrong way, and the egg disappears under it. These are trying to be hip deviled eggs more than they're trying to be good deviled eggs. Every ambitious kitchen has one plate that tries too hard; this appears to be one. A 5 needs those eggs landing, in the same way the entrees excelled. Regardless, we'll be back.

Whenever I come back to St. Louis for work, I'm looking forward to coming back for some after work drinks!

Came here for Valentine's Day dinner and the ambience was very nice. We were unfortunately sat at a…read moretable rather than a booth which was not ideal but our waitress was super friendly and awesome. When we were debating which cuts to order, she delivered a detailed explanation of each one, and even brought a platter of them out for us to see. Definitely an upscale place, so budget for that. Here's what we got: Roasted Bone marrow: 8/10 - came with quite a few bones, and the marrow was rich and buttery. It truly was a melt in your mouth experience, and with the addition of the arugula and red onions on the side, it was lovely. Brussels sprouts: 9/10 - these had such a lovely flavor to them and the honey Dijon sauce was delicious. We prefer Brussels a little more charred but otherwise these were a hit. Garlic mashed potatoes with Boursin: 100/10 - SO good. Best mashed potatoes we've ever had. You HAVE to add the cheese, it's so worth it. They're ridiculously creamy, flavorful, and overall, just tasty. Broccolini: 7.5/10 - this was average. We wanted them charred a bit more and also more red pepper flakes. It mostly just tased like lemon, but it wasn't bad. Australian Wagyu filet: 8.5/10 - A cheaper version of Japanese Wagyu, this cut is super tender and delicious. But don't expect it to melt in your mouth like the Japanese ones. Snowbeef Wagyu 4oz: 10/10 - The beef just melted in my mouth. The marbling on this cut is exquisite and it is SO rich. You honestly don't need more than 3-4oz if you're getting sides. It's that rich. Overall, we definitely recommend this place. The mashed potatoes especially were enough to make us want to come back.

Looking for a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion? This fine dining steakhouse is ready for…read morethe task. The food, interior, and service are top notch, and comes it the highest prices in the area. The menu focuses on steaks but the special menu offers additional seafood option. You can also order items from the 801 Fish restaurant across the street if red meat is not your preference. Complimentary loaves of sour dough bread were delivered to the table as we enjoyed our beverages. Crab Cake $27 - This was one delicious lumpy crab cake with succulent pieces of crab, big enough to share with two people. Down Home Shrimp $26 - 3 large pieces of shrimp on top of mouth watering mash potato like sauce that you want to lick clean. You can add on additional shrimp. Single Cut Prime Rib 16oz $66 - It was cooked perfectly medium rare and very tender. I didn't love that it sat in a pool of au jus, but was delicious. Brussels sprouts $15 - Large portion, more than plenty for 4 people. It was tender and very saucy. Garlic Mashed potatoes $16 - Semi-lumpy mashed potato with bits of skin. I was hoping it might be served with gravy similar to the shrimp sauce, but there was no companion. Cheesecake with blueberry sauce $16 - Large piece of cheesecake, very rich and smooth. It was nice that the dessert selected by the birthday guest was complimentary. If you dine here and park in the lot behind 801 Fish, you can get your parking ticket validated at 801 Fish. Reservations can be made on OpenTable.
