The vegetables were tough and undercooked, and the beef was marinated until it was too salty. There was very little meat in the Mapo Tofu. The restaurant was full of mosquitoes; I got five bites during the meal.

Beautiful restaurant with modern feel. Food was amazing. Service was good! Come check them out and you won't be disappointed.

This is a cute restaurant to try. A lot of the food is shareable for the entire table and the portions are large. The fried rice were good along with the dumplings. The service was great as well.

Came to Wu Chaw to have a quick lunch and sat down right before their closing. We didn't have much time to ponder the menu so we ordered a hot and sour soup, dumplings, and a cucumber salad. Just a quick bite and really enjoyed everything. I have a feeling that this place is really popular at night. It's very beautifully decorated. The service was outstanding and the restaurant was pretty filled for a late lunch. I would definitely be back if I'm ever in Austin.

Came in on Wednesday early evening. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived but started filling quickly. There is only a happy hour bar menu from 4-5:00. The food was quite tasty and fresh. We had the crispy fish, sweet and spicy chicken and hunan beef. All were very delicious. We will be back.

On 15 January 2026, at the recommendation of folks I met while on vacation, I had happy hour at Wu Chow. The decor is very appealing. I sat at the bar where Morgan, the bartender, greeted me warmly and provided outstanding service. The food was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend you check it out if you're in West Austin.

Top tier service, delicious food, and the jungle juice mocktail was a refreshing touch. Also, kudos to whomever is in charge of the house music - that was the chef's kiss. A note to the restaurant: The menu price for Austin Restaurant Weeks online ($20) is different than the menu at the restaurant ($25), and there was a pesky fly/mosquito/gnat that would not let me enjoy my meal.

Glass of Daou Chardonnay

Came in to grab a quick bite to eat this afternoon and when I got here after walking 15 minutes down the street sweating from the heat, I was informed that they were closing early due to a party. Obviously being very disappointed because I was craving their braised eggplant dish and their prawns with walnuts, I was then greeted by the manager Victoria, who graciously let me sit down at the bar and bought me a glass of wine and then proceeded to give me a gift card for the next time that I come in. First class, she went above and beyond and simply, made my day! Cheers to Wu Chow, the sweet bartender and of course, Victoria the manager.

Wu Chow is a nice date spot. The decor is aesthetically pleasing with a casual vibe. We were greeted slightly coldy at the door and told that there would be a few minutes wait if we didn't have reservations. This was during lunch time on a weekday and we could see a couple of empty tables. Anyway, the service picked up after we were seated. We ordered the veggie and chicken dumplings for dim sum. The green colored veggie dumplings were wrapped nicely and presented beautifully. Chicken dumpling had a very light coat of flour wrap. We definitely liked the veggie dumplings better, both in terms of taste and presentation. The peanut noodles were interesting, they were cold and served in a peanut sauce. We added tofu to the dish as it originally didn't come with vegetables or protein. We were also treated to a complimentary birthday dessert which was a lemon sorbet ice cream and almond cookie. It was appreciated!

I would give this unique Asian/Chinese eatery 10 stars if I could! Lots of Gluten Free options on almost the entire menu. We started with their amazing hot & sour soup and their dry fried local green beans. After that we had the Braised Pork Belly with Chinese celery, and the Cantonese mixed greens. Fantastic flavors all around. The staff is super attentive, friendly & helpful, (shoutout to Griffin). Next time we will be back with more people so that we can try more dishes! And.... A very reasonable $25 corkage fee; bonus!

Conblucius and Tequila Mockingbird

This was my first time at Wu Chow and my companions second time. Since we went after 6PM we didn't have problems finding free street parking. The restaurant was nice with light coming in through the front windows. I liked the mahjong tile wall. We both started with a cocktail. I ordered the Conblucius and she ordered the Tequila Mockingbird. Both drinks were good but I think I liked hers better even though I don't normally like tequila. We ordered vegetarian eggrolls, pork soup dumplings, the dry fried green beans and the Two-Faced Crispy Noodles with chicken and beef. The green beans were definitely my favorite. The egg rolls are rolled thin so it's hard to taste the veggies, but you did get some flavor. The soup dumplings hold their own but there are better options in Austin. I was divided on the noodles. There was good flavor but it seemed like the meat and veggies were unevenly cooked. I found the service to be good without hovering. I would be open to trying by Wu Chow again.

My-Tie ($17)

We dined here for Valentine's Day. It is a Szechuan style Chinese restaraunt with a high end spin that caters towards a more Westernized crowd. The drinks taste nice but the prices are pretty outrageous. We had the Tequila Mockingbird ($24) and My-Tie ($17). Food: Recommend: The dumplings are amazing and taste super fresh. We tried the pork soup dumplings ($14) and beef pot stickers ($14). Singapore Noodles ($23) - choc full of 3 types of protein (chicken, shrimp, and char siu). Super flavorful and delicious! Green Beans ($16) - yummy, garlicky, lightly fried. Neutral: Chicken and Taro Eggrolls ($8) did not taste like much but were nice and crispy. Not good: The Hunan beef ($23) was too spicy. I have a pretty high spice tolerance, and to me the level of spice detracted heavily from the dish. To my boyfriend who does not have a high spice tolerance, it was inedible. Our meal was served with a large bowl of fluffy white rice. The staff and our waitress were absolutely wonderful. Food came out in a timely manner.

Do you have gluten free options?

We have quite few gluten free options and our staff is well trained to accommodate.

What's parking like?

There's a parking lot on the right side of the restaurant. You just have to pay to park and then walk across the street and boom you're there! I've never had a problem parking, usually pretty empty.

Do they put cheese on their okra?

Cheese should not be put on okra. Okra should be hollowed out, stuffed with a mixture of cheese, jalapeno and caramelized onion, then breaded and deep-fried. They can be prepared the night before and fried for breakfast, and then you should serve… Read more

Has Happy Hour started back up yet? Hoping to finally take my Mom for an early Mother's Day!

Happy Hour is now back! Monday -- Friday 5pm-6pm on the patio and in the cocktail area -- hope to see you soon!

Is happy hour still till 6 on the patio?

Not yet -- we are currently just offering our dinner service -- curbside, delivery, or dine-in with Dim Sum Brunch returning this Sunday!

Do they allow dogs on the patio?

What's the best time to go to save money? We wanted dim sum and wanted to go whenever their discount/happy hour is.

They have a HH from 5-6:30pm M-F and there is a separate menu (no Dim Dum). Dim Sum is only offered on Sundays. It's reasonably priced and delicious. Make sure to make a reservation for Sundays.

Did not have a reservation on this occasion, but they always make me feel welcome and manage to fit us in. Sat on the outdoor covered patio that was cool and shaded. The atmosphere is modern and lively, making it a great spot for a weekend brunch. Started the meal with cocktails including Lycheetini with Deep Eddy Vodka, Giffard Lichi-li. lemon, cranberry, I cut the cranberry. Also had a Fresa Paloma with Socorro Reposado Tequila, Contratto, strawberry, lime, grapefruit, five-spice that was very sweet and garnished with a flower. You are given a card where you can mark your dim sum selections. I ordered the Shrimp Pancake, Snow Crab Ball and Chinese Sausage Sticky Rice. The standout was the shrimp pancake that had a really great texture and flavor. The snow crab ball had a strange texture with shrimp surrounding the snow crab claw. The Chinese Sticky Rice is always a favorite. Also ordered the Truffle Egg Fried rice and Birds Nest with Seasonal Vegetable. The Truffle rice is so flavorful like a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. The presentation of the food is amazing and everything came out hot and fresh. The flavors were on point, and you can tell there's attention to detail in the preparation. Service was attentive outdoors and the pacing of dishes felt just right for a relaxed brunch. This restaurant is truly a gem whether you come for brunch or dinner service. Will definitely be back.

The chicken basil pot stickers and pork belly were good.. but a bit dry for my taste. However, the sauces they offer were all good. Martini was a jump scare in color but taste was on pointtt! Service was fine but we were out front on the patio and though our waiter was attentive while we ordered, we ended up finishing and waiting 40 minutes for someone to come by so we could grab the check. I ended up just heading inside and the maître d' was able to close us out. Tables around us were open so I'm not sure what had them held up, and it could've been a one off, but definitely not ideal at this price point.

When you arrive, everybody is so nice you give them your name and they get you seated right away. I ordered a drink called a signature tingling Daisy and it was so good. I definitely could've had so many but I was driving so you gotta pace yourself. We started off with the soup dumplings, which are just phenomenal. It's a must when you go. Also, for appetizers, we got the spicy cucumbers which were divine and a hot and sour soup, which was perfectly balanced and not watery. We also got a beef fried rice and let me tell you that rice is so soft and delicious. You literally dream about it the next day. I also got the pecking duck which is delicious there the skin is nice and crispy and the meat on it taste so good. We also got the Kung pow shrimp with cashews, which was delicious and the pieces of shrimp were gigantic. We also got the green beans which is were delicious. I love ordering green beans when they're cooked just like the ones I posted in the photo. Then for dessert, we got the chocolate mousse which is that little dog cake. I know it's so cute and they made it a little hard to eat because you feel bad in a weird sense. It was delicious now I will say when cutting it and realizing the inside had a raspberry filling, made it a little more crazy cause it looked like blood, but it was still so good. This place is definitely an awesome staple and a must visit when you're in town or just always go and have food there whether it's date night or friends catching up or anything in general even on your own.

Ordering is still done with the QR code so we had one person order all the food and then we split the bill afterwards. You have to pay first before the order gets sent to the kitchen. The service has improved slightly, with us being so close to the kitchen. We were able to flag down servers to help us get an extra plate, tea cups, etc. Got a variety of dim sum classics: hargow (shrimp dumpling), siu mai, rice noodles, custard buns, chicken feet, chow fun, egg tarts, soy sauce noodles, charsiu bao, turnip cake My favorites are the siu mai, chow fun and custard buns! They also have non-traditional dim sum dishes such as soup dumplings, which actually originated from Shanghai. We got them and they were ok. We ordered a second time to get more custard buns but it seemed they ran out so it took some time for them to make them fresh. When they finally came, the buns were not smooth and it really looks like the custard was about to burst. Someone bit into theirs and the custard exploded onto their shirt. However, we all had a good laugh and still enjoyed the food. Have to have tea during dim sum so we also got our puer and chrysanthemum tea mix. Not sure if they usually charge for this, but we got it complimentary! Yay! If you are familiar with dim sum, then you know these are smaller dishes meant to be shared among the group! Everybody ate and was satisfied. Each person paid about $25 after tip! There's a designated parking lot with lots of spots. The vibe is modern: very bright, well lit, with the lion statues in the front, tea pots on the walls and clean spaces. The nice thing is you can order dim sum even when the push carts aren't going, which I personally think is better since it's fresh. My wife felt like she had a ratatouille type moment when she bit into the sesame balls and the deep fried mince turnover. I personally thought while the dim sum had a good fry, it was about average on the flavor and texture, but like I said, some others in our group thought it was excellent. On the other hand, the main entrees, I thought were stellar. The Sichuan green beans (despite this not being a Sichuan shop) were the best rendition of the dish of anywhere I've had in town - very good fry on the green beans with smoky wok hei, well seasoned with the pickled veg too. When your five year old opts to eat just this and rice, you know you got something special on your hand. The seafood fried noodle is also very good - tender squid, shrimp and veggies in the crunchy noodle nest is a great contrast in texture, as well as a lesson in simplicity. The peking pork ribs are also incredible - saucy, not overly sweet sauce clings to the riblets and gives you something incredible to gnaw on. I prefer it in pork chop form, but this is stellar as I think I've only had this one other place that was even remotely close. All in all, great place for Canto food in a town that doesn't have enough of it.

I've heard so many great things about this restaurant, and we finally made it there over Memorial Day weekend. It absolutely lived up to the hype. This place is truly impressive. You can tell every detail was thoughtfully designed and intentional, from the stunning interior design and décor to the incredibly creative menu. What I loved most was how the dishes stayed rooted in authentic Chinese flavors while adding creative, and sometimes surprising, twists. Everything we ordered was excellent. The Lobster Cheese Puff was a huge hit: crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside. The Salmon Sashimi Mango Salad was incredibly fresh, bright, and crunchy. The sautéed pea shoots were so tender and fresh. And the Lamb Chop with Spicy Miso Sauce was absolutely unforgettable. One of the biggest surprises for me was the Veggie Fried Rice. As a native Chinese, I've had countless fried rice dishes over the years, but I've honestly never had one prepared quite like this before. It was so flavorful and unique. For dessert, the Chocolate Soup Dumpling was both creative and delicious, and the bunny-shaped sorbet was almost too cute to eat. Our waiter, Jake, was also incredibly attentive and helpful throughout the evening. He made our first experience there even more special. They curtly took our order, dropped the food and we were never checked on again while our table filled with plates and our drinks needed refills (We had to flag someone down for chopsticks because they were so fast leaving after dropping the food). Then when they finally dropped our check, after we sat there and watched them ignore our table numerous times and considering just going straight to the front so we could leave, we went to settle up and I was entering our tip my son noticed that they had already autograted our check.
