Monday special- fish taco and shrimp taco
    Megan Y.

Really solid fish tacos at such an affordable price! We came here on a brief layover in SD, around 3 pm on a Monday (holiday) and it was still totally packed. Staff is all super sweet and welcoming. We both got the Monday special, which is a fried fish and fried shrimp taco. You get a free cup of soup with each, and we really enjoyed it! It takes a bit for the food to come out but they are a small team handling a ton of orders so we had no issue waiting and appreciated the tents to provide some shade. The sauces are all delicious, and I love that they labeled the caps with spice levels because I never know if the salsa verde will be mild or burn a hole in my stomach. Will definitely be back!

Finally decided to give this spot a try after years of hearing about this spot. I got the ceviche and fish tacos. The ceviche was solid but I can confidently say these have been the best fish tacos I've had in San Diego so far.

Fish tacos are great!! One of the better spots in all of San Diego and it comes from a truck! Parking can be a challenge but there's a big lot across the street. The taco Tuesday deal May be the best in all the city. Ceviche portions are huge. Service is kind and feels like family and food comes out fast!

Finally got to stop by and try their food. I wish I stopped sooner. Delicious and flavorful. We ordered the medium shrimp cocktail, and a fish taco. The fish taco was packed and the tortilla did its part and didn't breakdown. The shrimp cocktail was perfect shrimp and veggies ratio. It was spicy and in a perfect cocktail. Ate my food too fast didn't even take a picture. We stopped by the food truck, service was quick and no issues. They have stand up tables if you choose to eat there. Can't wait to try their downtown location

After all of the hype, I had to try the original Kikos. While I think these tacos are okay, I wouldn't put them at the top of my "best tacos" or "best seafood tacos" in SD list. I probably won't return either. I ordered the OG fish and shrimp tacos. The fish was cooked well, but I felt both tacos were bland. The shrimp was slightly overcooked, and both proteins had a lot of excess breading. The tortillas and toppings were also just okay. The prices were outrageous given what you can get elsewhere and the size of the portions. If you're looking for great seafood tacos, I highly recommend going to La Sinaloense, Mar y Tierra, or El Prieto instead. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Krazy ceviche: mixed shrimp, scallops, oysters, octopus, imitation crab, fish

I wanted to try their ceviche and they had a regular one with mixed shrimp, octopus and fish but they also recommended me to try their ceviche called Krazy which had scallops and oysters included. Did I hear oysters? I went for the Krazy because it sounded like a sweet deal. I got a free complimentary soup during the wait. Their recommended ceviche ended up being really good had 3 fresh oysters which I ended up eating 1 before posting a picture of the meal. So glad I tried their mixed seafood ceviche! Pretty filling for two and they give you a good amount. Would request for extra chips if for two people. Well worth the experience.

Been wanting to come here for a while after hearing Kiko's has some of the best fish tacos in San Diego! It's located on the side of the road-thankfully, it was easy to find parking. I came on a Tuesday and got their special which included 1 fish taco, 1 shrimp taco, and the broth. In addition to this, I also tried the fish ceviche. Service was quick and there's a salsa bar on the side to pour your desired salsas. It was actually my first time trying ceviche and I liked it! Healthy, high protein, and flavorful! I also enjoyed the shrimp and fish tacos! The green cilantro and orangey chipotle salsas really compliment the seafood. The broth is good too- just a tad bit salty to my liking. Overall, I enjoyed the food! Got to satisfy my fish taco cravings. I'll admit, I had higher expectations for how the fish and shrimp tacos would taste, but it was not bad! Good place to check out to try Mexican seafood dishes!

This has been my go-to spot for fish tacos for years now. The quality is consistently fresh and flavorful--never disappoints. There has been a recent menu change, and with it, a noticeable price increase. The OG fish taco is now $5.99 (used to be $3.50 in 2024), which is a bit of a jump. That said, they still deliver on taste and portion. The octopus taco is $10, which sounds steep, but to be fair--it's loaded with octopus and definitely worth trying if you're a fan. Even with the price hike, I still recommend this place.

My favorite fish taco spot in San Diego! I love coming on Taco Tuesdays for their 3 ginormous fish tacos. It takes a bit to prepare the food, but the fish is freshly battered and fried. The cabbage and salsas also are very fresh. I recommend getting the orange chipotle sauce.

    Kim T.

The tacos here are great!! I tried their shrimp and fish tacos and enjoyed them so much! Love all the sides and salsas provided. The problem I had was with their shrimp ceviche. Upon opening the box, I saw the shrimp was still gray (completely raw). Ceviche is one of my favorite dishes and I'm very familiar with it. I get that it's cooked in the acid of lime juice, but the flavor of this ceviche was very light in regards to the acid amount. And the texture was just completely off. It was slimey and left a residue in my mouth. The ceviche made the meal horrible. I tossed the whole thing after one bite. I'm not sure if this is a one off situation bc photos of the ceviche from other ppl do not look the same way mine did. I would recommend the tacos but def don't recommend the shrimp ceviche.

New updated menu! Staff member said they were losing money on the old menu so they had to make some changes. The quality of the food is still pretty good, but I believe it's a little bit more pricey than what it used to be. Overall, I will still come here whenever I'm in the area to eat their fish tacos.

Oh Kiko's... What happened to this once must go-to for fish tacos and aguachile is no longer on the top of list for me. They just changed their menus, specials and all. Half of the menu items made zero sense. Example: 1983 taco (what is that?!) even the person who took our order had to ask the kitchen what it's made of. Went with the OG fish taco (teenie tiny for $6) and birria burrito; good and quality birria but small for $14.50. Daily special menu has changed since earlier this month and no longer a great deal. :( In search of new taco truck now. No consome was offered while we waited for our order. The hot sauce still great though.

I don't know wanna say if you know you know, but damn, their Baja style seafood is finger licking good. I ate my plate up in like 7 mins. Sorry Hole Mole, Wahoo's & and Solita, this place is freakin premium out from the truck. Not only that, they offered us a free complimentary soup to sip on during that windy afternoon. We ordered 2 fish tacos, one squid taco, and a shrimp taco. Keep in mind, on different days, there are different specials and deals. The tacos tasted fresh and bomb. Fish didn't smell bad. The squid was so flavorful. I don't know what sauce they use to marinate, but I gotta find that recipe lol. People don't know; you guys gotta try the squid taco! Everything from the food and service is 5/5. Gotta support the locals. Will be back!

What type of fish is used in their fish taco? Usually people disclose it but don't see it mentioned anywhere.

We use White Seabass or angelito or curvina

What kind of fish do they use for their tacos?

    Probably swai

Is there two of these trucks on Friars road -- is this the same as Kiko's seafood lunch truck?

Yeah, funny, they're both in liquor store parking lots. One is off Friars at Mission Center Rd. The other Friars and Via Las Cumbres.

Hi! Who can I speak to about coming for my wedding to set up a food truck?

Call and talk to the staff. They will set up catering.

Hi! How can I reach you if I want you at my wedding?

Call the number listed. The owner is often there or the staff can help set up scheduling for catering.

It looks like they moved from the original location on Texas. There is a truck there now that says Kikos. Anyone know if it's the same owner?

The original truck it’s in mission valley. Texas has a different owner.

The hotel has so many beautiful bars that we could've stayed there all day. Our 6:30p reservation was during a busy stretch, but the vibe was great. I love love love the interior design, cocktails, food, and especially that they allow dogs. Everyone was so sweet to her. Food came out fast, too. Beware there's only street parking, no valet service (unless you're a hotel guest), so that can present a challenge. Reservations a MUST on weekends, especially with a group. Now for the food reviews. Everything we ordered was delicious from the squash blossom and smashed tuna tartare appetizers to the El Festin platter (made for groups) . Since the main dining area is kept dark for the dramatic gothic effect, it's tricky to rely on your sense of sight for the presentation of each of the dish. The highlight for me was the chili garlic shrimp tacos. So full of flavor! The only drawback is that many of their dishes are made with nuts. So if you have a nut allergy, which one of us in our group did, the menu was limiting. Overall, it's an incredible place for first timers and out-of- towners. I might return for a special celebration, but not repeatedly. Once is good enough experience, especially with so many other special dining options in our fine city.

It's one of San Diego's top scenic date-night restaurants. You get to take in San Diego's night views from a unique vantage point, and the scenery is breathtaking. It features a huge outdoor terrace with fire pits and refreshing ocean breezes, making it perfect for watching sunsets, snapping photos, or romantic dates. The weather wasn't ideal the day I went, and I arrived a little late, so I missed the sunset glow, but I still had an amazing experience overall. The menu centers on modern Mexican cuisine and fresh seafood. Must-orders include table-side guacamole made fresh right at your table, ceviche and aguachile with ultra-fresh seafood, fish and shrimp tacos, as well as Mexican paella meant to share for two. Their fried cauliflower appetizer was also outstanding! The bill came out to around $55 per person, and it's totally worth the price given the stunning surroundings. So I was very excited to see what this place had to offer. Celebrated my daughter's 19th birthday here this week, and to be honest, I was not impressed. The location and views from this place are unmatched. Tons of covered patio seating with a breathtaking view of the downtown skyline. As for the food, it was just ok. It was mostly mexican seafood, but there was a good mix of other items like steak and a wagu burger. Everything was served hot and fresh, but in my honest opinion, everything just lacked flavor. Everything I tasted was just bland, and I tasted a little bit of all of my family's meals. But everyone agreed. Maybe we are just spoiled with San Diego Mexican food. My biggest complaint of the night was the service. Our waiter started off well. He took our drink orders and when he returned, asked if we wanted to get appetizers started, which we did. Our appetizers came out and were finished and we still had not seen our server to order our main dinner. This continued to be the issue all night, we were constantly looking and waiting for our server. There were other servers that came around and filled our drinks and took our plates, and they were great! But we really didn't see our main server most of the night. And one of the times that we did walk by, my daughter asked for a new glass of water because she had dropped food into the glass. He took the glass and never came back. I ended up giving my daughter my water. I did notice that the servers at the other tables were awesome. They were attentive, and we constantly saw them checking on their guest. And like I said, we are fans of all of the Cohn restaurants we have dined at before, so the level of service we received is not typical. Maybe our server was new??? I will say, this is not a cheap place to eat. My family of 5 spent almost $240 and that was with no alcohol or desserts. So you would expect to receive a high level of service. Other than the ambience, our experience was just ok. I would highly recommend the restaurants next door, which are owned by the same owner, and have never disappointed us in quality and/or service (Island Prime or C-Level).

California Burritos is very apt for their name, my bf rates it a 10/10. As a California Burrito connoisseur, he liked the addition of sour cream in it and said the flavors were delicious. He topped it with their green salsa for a little bit of a freshness to cut through the richness and fattiness of the meat and fries in the burrito. He didn't care for the fish taco that much and rated it a 4/10 but said the restaurant overall was a 10/10, as he thought there was too much lettuce and tomato throwing off the ratio of the taco.
