I'm so excited about this place! Came her for the first time yesterday and was blown away. I got a chicken shawarma bowl with rice, pesto hummus, and kale/cabbage salad. It was honestly out of this world! The flavors complemented each other so well, the chicken was seasoned perfectly and was not dry. Also ordered a side of falafel and it's honestly some of the best falafel I've tried, and I've had some from all over the Bay Area and Los Angeles. I don't understand the bad reviews about the falafel because it was amazing. Perfectly crispy on the outside and amazingly fluffy on the inside. I ordered a chicken wrap to go for my sister. I had a few bites of it (obviously) and it was equally as delicious. The customer service is awesome, the staff there are so friendly and accommodating. The decor and atmosphere is very hipster chic. I don't eat a lot of Mediterranean food so I just asked the guy behind the counter to prepare a meal the same way he would eat it. He made me a chicken bowl (brown rice, Greek salad, and regular hummus on the side) and it is absolutely DELICIOUS. The hot sauce pairs well and gives it the added kick that I like. Always have a good time going to Yafa Hummus. Though I'm not much of a vegetarian I find that getting the vegetarian options are often my go too. The falafel is all ways crunch on the outside and soft on the outside without being to greasy. The hummus and smooth and flavorful along with the pita bread that is thick and filling. I like to get the bowls with a side of double dolmas which have the perfect amount of acid from the lemon juice in them. I'm always greeted with a smile and a great attitude that's really up lifting on a so-so day. I joined the rewards club that from time to time offers a great deals. This is my current addiction! I literally drive 35 mins away to get their falafel bowl 3 times a week! They have great vegan options which is nice! I get the falafel bowl with brown rice, Mediterranean salad, original hummus, and vegan tahini sauce. They now have expanded their business to Livermore and Dublin, so I'd say they are doing everything right. When everyone was closing their businesses during the lock down, Yafa was expanding. A new Mediterranean venture in Tracy leaning on the cool / Hip side with some traditional shawarma swirling around. The decor is nice & service is commendable. The menu is broadly on three criteria side, Sandwich , Bowl with pretty much all the available options intermingling with each other at one stage or other. Now the Food : Shawarma / Gyro is fresh swirling around the heat but other than most of the items are pre-made be it salads, tabouleh, dolma, Baba Ganoush etc. Pita breads are pre-packed ones & baklava are in the front display. You can pretty much combine them with sauces like Tahini, Garlic etc & the owners are good enough to suggest a perfect fit. Though most of the stuffs are pre-made they have a lot of options for both Veg & Non-Veg lovers. BUT most of the stuffs have a very typical & common sour taste be it the salad or the sauce or the hummus. So, your Taste buds turn numb with the same palette. Being a new venture probably they are still working on finding the right mix of different ingredients but sooner they find a distinct taste the better. CONS : FALAFEL I am so used to made to order falafels at other places, that fried golden brown crispy balls with melt in your mouth taste is missing here. They are also Pre-Made which completely takes away the whole joy of biting into that hot crunch & it doesn't taste great at all. HUMMUS also did not taste half as good as packaged Costco ones. Specifically when the name carries hummus on it, expectation are at an all time high. So a solid -2 stars coz Falafel & Hummus defines Mediterranean food. Not sure if they're under new management or old management just let go of the rope, but the food is not good anymore. I got the Greek salad, half chicken shawarma half falafel, a side of tabouleh and a side of hummus, and the tsuzki sauce. The bowl also comes with one pita bread, which paired amazingly with my side of hummus. I also tried my boyfriend's rice and mixed beans side and they were flavorful as well. Everything in the salad tasted fresh, the chicken cooked properly, and falafel was crispy. The server was super nice, offered to let me try a side, and the service was quick. The Chicken Shawarma was well seasoned but on the dry side. Has it been a bit juicy, it would have been bomb. Now, the spicy hummus and Baba Ghanoush with pita were everything. My friend had a falafel bowl with tzatziki and was disappointed. She is very familiar with Greek cuisine. The staff was friendly and the girl that took my order was great in helping me navigate the menu and decipher the options. She made good suggestions.
