We ordered this for delivery last night during a DoorDash deal and I'm glad we did! The sushi was fresh and portions were good size. My wife and I shared the Christmas Tree (huge chunks of tuna on top), the Hawaiian, Lover, and Sunset by ordering 2 of the combo deals and I can recommend them all. Each also comes with a salad and a few pieces of edamame and they added a complimentary piece of cheesecake. They must have been swamped last night with the deal but everything tastes great. We just move to Chesapeake from WA state and this is the only sushi we tried. WOW it was amazing. The sushi was so fresh and I would say the best I've had. This food was absolutely amazing! I've been craving sushi for almost a week now, and finally got to stop by at this place! This was the first time I had ramone Japanese soda, and I really liked it! We had the edamame for an appetizer. Not bad at all! I ordered the superman sushi rolls and they exceeded my expectations. The spicy salmon was very flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The avacado was creamy. I enjoyed the pineapples added on the plate too, because it added a slight sweetness to the dish that was really enjoyable. They also gave us a complementary shrimp tempura and little ice cream sandwich desserts for free! I will reccomend to all my friends, and I encourage everyone reading this to go check this place out! I had been visited to other Yama sushi so I tried to visit new location in Chesapeake. It is very spacious and nice oriental decoration. I ordered some combo that comes with 2 different rolls, miso soup and salad. At first, they serviced an Edamame and it was good ( well Edamame is just needs to boil with hot water with salt so can't messed up) and next they brought miso soup that had no flavor other than miso ( authentic miso soup used fish flavor and miso) and I tasted the salad with ginger dressing. I tasted a ginger but something missing. Their sushi is decorative and good for Instagram but I never eaten sushi rice like that. It was far from authentic Japanese sushi. There are no sushi vinegar taste and too chewy. If you never know what real Japanese sushi is, you might like it but for me I don't even finish my plate. Date of Visit: 11/18/17 (Saturday) Time: Approximately 5:30 PM. Initially it was just us. Shortly after we arrived, another couple came in. It was nice and quiet, well except for the woman who decided to throw a Taylor Swift karaoke party for herself while making both her date and us suffer. Parking: In the plaza with Village Inn across from Tidewater Community College Seating: Well over 20 booths (most freestanding), about five or six two-tops, and sushi bar seating. Although there are only small two-tops with regular chair seating, the tables within the booth setup can be moved to accommodate individuals who may need additional room. As in, they are not bolted to the floor and immovable. I am not a sushi expert by any means, however I was happy with my vegetarian sushi with tofu, seaweed salad, and avocado. To be honest, I kept getting the seaweed stuck in my teeth - such is life. The chef surprised us a complimentary roll, for which we happily tipped him in addition to our server. My mom ordered the Teriyaki Beef and really liked it also. What I will say is there are about five or six Teriyaki dishes, a soba noodle dish and one other that would be considered "hot" dishes and the rest of the menu is sushi. Our server was very polite. This is my first time trying this Yamas, and just like the others it did not disappoint. I ordered the spicy tuna, ichiban, rainbow, iron man, and dream rolls. They also threw in a Hawaiian roll. The spicy tuna was ok, but the rest were great, with the iron man being my favorite. My only real complaint, if you want to call it that, was for the miso soup and salad. The soup was bland, while I didn't care for the dressing on the salad, but I didn't go to Yama for the soup and salad. I will definitely be ordering from here again read more

They blocked off the entrance in such a way that ensured 6 feet of distance between myself and the employee who was masked and gloved. We had to try this place, it is close to us and we love sushi! We were the only ones there so that was nice, everyone there greeted us and we sat down. The server was very nice and attentive, we ordered 4 different rolls to try and waited a little while for our food. We were getting a little impatient until we seen them come out with this huge boat with a extra roll ( compliments of the shef) that was very pretty, you can tell they took the time on their presentation. All the rolls but one fried one we didn't particularly like ( just preference ). Everything tasted fresh and had a good taste to it. They seem to have great specials also, when you get four rolls two salads and two soups for around 50 bucks I believe. Overall very nice place and good sushi! read more

The rolls were good and the chef gave us a extra courtesy roll. However the waiter forgot to deliver Saki we had ordered until reminded, and the miso soup was served in excessively chilled bowls, which had almost immediate effect of turning what would have been reasonably good miso soup in to cold to luke warm left over soup taste. We could feel the very cold (deliberately refrigerated) bowls just from touching them at our table. Hot soup served in chilled bowls makes no sense. When asked about this the waiter confirmed that they were deliberately chilling the soup bowls so that soup wouldn't be 'too hot' for customers. That's ridiculous. Everybody knows and expects soup to be hot, and certainly doesn't need it cooled down almost immediately before you even have a chance to consume it. read more

My sweet kids treated me to sushi at Yama Sushi Roll for my birthday. It has been hard to find good sushi until now. Alan, our server was very personable, friendly and made our dinner extra special. I ordered the spicy tuna and spicy salmon to play it safe on our first visit. They were absolutely wonderful.
