Sad to say that this dim sum location has disappointed me. Loved the Spear location so wanted to try this smaller one. Made a reservation and was greeted by a friendly hostess...then left alone for quite a bit. We were early, came at 11:15 am. No one came by with tea order or food cart. When it came we were served lukewarm dim sum. Though tasty we had to send the Shanghai dumplings back because they were rock solid cold. And had to ask twice for the fried taro dumplings ( lukewarm as well). Maybe it just wasn't their day but disappointed anyway.

Smaller of the two locations. Food is amazing. We had the usual suspects - ha gow, siu mai, chicken feet, shrimp balls, scallop dumplings, xlb. Disappointingly, this location doesn't have Cheung fun. Service is fast and efficient. The restaurant is clean but pretty tight.

Fresh hot steamy dim sum treats made in the old fashioned way served in OG push carts. Quality of food is nicely done. Service is fast and efficient. The ambiance is clean and well lit. Do not be surprised by the tea charge.....everything has a cost. Support local small business! JYW highly recommends.

COVID has decimated the SF financial district and adjacent areas. This once vibrant restaurant is a shell of its former self. The menu is less extensive than the pre COVID version and some listed items were not even available at 11:30am which is a disappointment (no chicken feet). The staff speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and English but mostly English in catering to the weekday lunch crowd. Ladies still push steamer carts, and fried item & dessert carts around the restaurant for you to point out. If not on the specific cart, just ask the ladies and they'll have someone retrieve it for you. We had Home Sei Gok, Siu Mai, Gai Lan, two types of Steamed Dumplings and Orange Jello for dessert. The best item was the Fried Meat Rice Dumpling. I ordered the Orange Jello hoping for a orange jello version that would duplicate the 1960's orange pie from Sun Wah Ku restaurant on Washington in SF Chinatown. No luck in the duplication..... Service was good, I think they have more items available on the weekends and possibly seating out into the central atrium (at least they used to). The atrium does not have the waterfall from the skylight any more...darn! Overall, expensive and limited menu on weekdays.

Nice cart style dim sum spot. It was empty at 11:00am on a Friday. We got a bunch of items from the carts, but there are a few dishes you have to order directly from the server so we did that as well. We got: - Shrimp dumpling - $9.50 - Pork & shrimp siu mai - $9.50 - Shanghai kurobuta pork dumpling (XLB) - $16.00 - Sauteed string beans with dried shrimp - $12.50 - Sweet rice dumpling - $7.50 - Turnip cake - $9.00 - Crab claw - $15.50 - Beancurd roll - $7.50 - Egg custard tart - $15.00 My favorite was the fried sweet rice dumpling. The turnip cake and sauteed string beans were good as well. I didn't love the XLB because the skin was a bit thick. The pu erh tea was great, and the servers helped refill the pot once we finished the first one. The inside is clean with a nice ambiance. Service was friendly & efficient.

Yang Sing was just okay in my opinion. Definitely better options out there. Their dinning room is pretty small but they have outdoor seating. Some dishes you have to order from the server but most things are pushed around in the carts. They have a very slimmed down menu when compared to other dim sum restaurants. My favorites were the Shrimp Dumplings and Kurobuta Pork Dumplings. Both were flavorful and decently sized. They hyped up the fried rice but it was just okay.

Situated in the heart of SF. Came here to meet up with a friend of mine. A few parking options around. Space is small. But it is one of the rare spaces still offering the traditional dim sum cart. Food was okay. Service was quick and friendly. I personally prefer dim sum with thinner wrapper. Flavor was good and fresh. Just personal preference. Overall, a good option for people working close by.

tldr bad food, but clean store with friendly english speaking staff. My friend picked a restaurant for 8 of us to grab lunch before a wedding. Initial impression was good. Wait staff all spoke english and were polite, atypical for a dim sum restaurant. Place was super clean as well. We were seated outdoor, the floor was slanted and the tables were all pieced together, a little awkward. However, once the food came out that's when the disappointment started. To start, most of the food that came out was cold. The siu mai was very representative of the whole meal: cold, hard, tasteless. See attached picture for reference. Pork ribs is usually my favorite but the pork was hard and the sauce was gooey. Overall, don't come here for good food. However, service and seating for 8 allowed for to have lunch without waiting for hours.

I stopped by Yank Sing for a solo lunch before heading to the airport. The building is beautiful and the staff was attentive and accommodating of having my luggage in tow. They've got the carts, and if you don't see what you want they've got a menu you can order from or you can ask and they'll say "next cart." I got my go-tos: tea, har gow, shu mai, sesame balls, and steamed bbq pork bun (baked is weekend only). I also got their XLB which I don't normally get but they said it was their "signature" - I would pass on that next time for both taste and price ($16). For one, it was $70 before tip! Seems pricey for five food items plus tea.

Pretty decent dim sum place, very traditional with the carts going around. I did like the chicken feet and the veggie dumplings, though I do think they could have done a better job with everything else. The service was just OK. Definitely a super busy place for a weekday lunch. Lots of people there, the environment is relatively on the smaller side.

After attending the Sunday mass at the St Patrick Church today, my family celebrated the early Happy New Year at Yank Sing. Since I retired, I had not dined again at this restaurant. We didn't have the reservation. We walked in & were directed outdoor which was fine. They turned on the heater above us. For drink, we ordered the Jasmine tea. We ordered the shrimp wonton soup & Yank Sing fried rice. The server arrived with the dimsum cart. We got the chicken mushroom dumplings, shrimp & chives dumplings, seafood basil dumplings, pork & siu mye, beancurd rolls, steamed spareribs, XLB, chilled Chinese broccoli, chicken feet, and sesame balls for dessert. They have clean dining room. The service was efficient. The food was tasty but small portions for what you get prices are steep. If I am in the area only, I can consider to dine here again.

Only the best dim sum in SF! Nuff said. But review wants 85 charaters so here is one piece of advice: stick to the steamed carts.

Yes, we do!

Where can we park the car around restaurant?

There is a parking garage located below the restaurant and they will validate parking.

What are the vegan options on their weekend dim sum menu?

I'm not sure if there are vegan options. There are three vegetarian options that I get when I am there - you can ask for those three when you go. Spinach, corn and pea dumplings. The corn and spinach ones are the best. I never leave feeling like…

Haven't been in person yet so I am speaking solely off of takeout options. So after getting their food about 4828732 times I think its pretty long overdue I drop the deets on this little gem. This is our "official" dim sum option for weeknight take out. Personal favorites for me are always going to be the salt/pepper wings, the steamed pork buns, the crystal shrimp dumplings, and the scallion pancakes. My wife loves the soup dumplings, the shu mai. We could eat those dishes every week until we die pretty much, they are reliably good and comforting. Particular shout out on the pork buns though because they are just the absolute best consistency from a filling/bun standpoint. Soft, pillowy, they are glorious. I used to get pork buns from Good Mong Kok Bakery, but tbh, this is about 10x better. The soup dumpling also are quite good, I like the spicy ones but the black truffle is defintely worth it for the occasional splurge. They give you the red vinegar for it too which not all places do. Everything one needs to enjoy. I haven't been in person so I couldn't speak for the service or the location, but if you want a spot that delivers on time and often includes items for free (the pork buns are now free for orders over $50), this is great value and just great food. Chefs kiss.

The staff were friendly and super prompt about clearing empty plates and refilling our tea whenever we signaled it was done, which is always great as the dishes just get on coming! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and several really stood out. The spicy tendon was fantastic, shredded paper thin and swimming in a classic spicy sauce. The spicy lamb dumplings were another highlight, with an incredibly thin wrapper and a super flavorful and not gamey at all lamb filling. I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

Walking up to a rather empty Dumpling Time around 7 p.m. on a Thursday evening caused me to remark…read more"last time I went by this place it was packed". What a difference a few years makes. But honestly? I think I preferred the calm casualness of the setting. It was exactly what I sought that evening and I liked, too, the way that each of the dishes ordered were brought out in their own good time. That is: things here don't arrive all at once and I was good with that. Those who "know" dumplings might nitpick about authenticity or price but I thought everything I shared was delicious, authentic enough for me, and even the price seemed reasonable (made even better by their InKind participation). Green beans, pork bao, Shanghai noodles, and chicken wings were shared. Every last bit was fully consumed, and both of us really liked each dish that we tried. To spoil the experience I had to ask which dish was the least favorite and we agreed that it was the noodles, really only for the reason that they were difficult to extract from the bowl and share with two people when the sole serving utensil was chopsticks and a fork. This place, once frequently described as hipster and tech-bro central, seems like it might've been left in the dust as those crowds moved on. All the more reason to enjoy it now, which is exactly what I did.

Go-to spot for a simple, casual catchup meal with friends…read more The Scallion noodles come with egg noodles tossed in a light soy-based sauce, topped with scallions and a friend egg. The sauce base isn't overpowering and pairs well with the XLB and dumplings. Of the Xian style dumplings, the lamb is my favorite. I've tried the pork before, but something about the filling tasted off. The dumplings are wrapped in a thick, egg-based hand kneaded dough that gives them a homemade feel. Steering clear of the pork XLB, the tom yum has an incredibly savory soup base with the eye-catching red wrappers. Couldn't quite taste the coconut broth, but was still equally rich and savory. Would definitely order this and the lamb dumplings again. My biggest hesitation about coming back is the recent price hike (between Feb/Mar and July 2026). Compared to just a few months ago: Lamb dumplings: $12.50 to $15 String beans: $10.50 to $14 Scallion noodles: $10.50 to $14 Tom Yum XLB: $16 to $17 Small increases are understandable, but nearly a 50% jump for noodles and string beans are hard to justify. The food is as expected, but with these prices, it'll be harder to choose Dumpling Time over other nearby options!

Bao is warm and woody and serene on the inside, a great counterpoint to the bustle of Valencia at every hour. Upon entering there is a large window looking on to the kitchen prep area where culinary experts are often at work constructing the food diners later enjoy on their plates. Tonight a couple of wizards were in the process of making chicken potstickers. Even being vegetarian, just seeing how the dumplings and other items are made is like seeing secrets being shared. I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The buns come out beautifully presented and taste even better: the bun itself is just slightly sweet and that sweetness adds an amazing dimension to the chopped fresh vegetables inside. Can't tell you what any of these veggies are individually and I don't care, they are so good. Next came the sautéed string beans and the sear on the beans themselves was perfect and smoky and delicious. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. I love donuts and fresh-made sesame balls are similar to a donut hole just with a filling that is actually food and so sweetly tasty. The outer fry was crisp and the insides absolutely perfect.
