Our waitress, Cristal, has been nothing but incredible tonight. Explaining to us what she can do to make an item vegetarian for us. She deserves 5 stars for her service, especially for being so kind with my annoying martini order. The Manager, Daniels, on the other hand deserves one star. A table of 22 who openly told their servers they could only spend $100 and then loudly and verbally chatted about how they were only able to leave $4, left a mess on a table. When cleaning up their mess, a glass broke. The busser did the right thing, the Yard House rule, by standing over it while another employee went and got a broom. A female server walked by to ask the busser if she needed to get a broom. Just then the male server with the broom walked back and the manager came over and said something along the lines of "it doesn't take three of you" in an angry voice at the busser. And put his fingers in the air signaling for them to disperse. All of the customers around him heard. They were all doing their job and concerned about the broken glass. Which was right near the bar and surrounded by drunk patrons. They were following protocol and keeping everyone safe. Absolutely disgusted in his behavior. Can't believe Yard house employs managers that treat their employees so poorly. Tragic. Thank you Cristal for making the night enjoyable. Pros: - Creative and expansive selection of food, including many Asian-fusion recipes which I love. - Mix and match for half soups is something I deeply appreciate in general. - Large selection of beers on tap, and drinks in general. - Would recommend for a large group, if reservations are made in advance! They have everything from salads, to poke, to lobster mac n' cheese. Cons: - Would recommend making a reservation if you can, the wait can be pretty long otherwise on the weekends. - A bit more pricey than I would expect from the portion size. Atmosphere is of a classier dinner space with an air of sports bar. Ambiance is great, with the classic dim lighting and range of seating from tables, to booths, to bar. I must say that I was pleasantly surpised here. We went for a work outing and took a late lunch so the place was kinda dead in the middle of the afternoon, but the place is HUGE! Needless to say, the beer selection is outstanding, but let's focus on the food shall we? Maybe I've been watching Master Chef too much, but I start to look at food and kinda laugh when I see things stacked to look pretty, in my opinion, taste is the ultimate! I myself tried the Frehch Onion soup (way too salty, inedible! but they took it off my bill) and I tried the greek salad. This looked like no greek salad I have ever tried, but the taste was spot on, it could have used more feta cheese though. One thing with trying to be mostly vegetarian is that you start to get used to the same offering from bars: I was quickly looking for the hummus platter but I found a great selection of vegetarian friendly items (and yes, I know French onion soup is made with beef stock). I ended up having the sliders and I was very surprised. Service was very prompt and friendly, as should really have been seeing how empty the place was. The weird thing was she believed him that he had just turned 21, but she said that the computer was "still set to the night before and would think he was still 20". Came here after a Red Sox game. The place has a great loungy ambience even though it's a restaurant. There was no wait and the place is pretty big. Our waiter is super nice and let us try some beers before ordering (committing to a half yard). When ordering food though, that's a different story. I'm not sure what is going on with the Yard House Franchise but I have eaten at a few of them in Florida and throughout the New England area and the food continues to get decreasingly worse.... and I truly love the yard house. Every time I go in I hope it'll be better and it's not. I ate at the one next to Fenway the other night before catching the game. I ordered truffle fries and spinach dip from the bar. The bartenders completely ignored me and my girlfriend (the bar wasn't busy at all) everyone was already at the game as we decided to go after the third inning. Anyway, we waited 35 minutes for TRUFFLE FRIES and SPIN DIP... I had to remind the bartender and of course she comes right out with them. We tasted the apps and they tasted like they were sitting in the window for a long time... we asked the bartender if she could get us a fresh order of both as the spinach dip looked and tasted awful and the fries weren't good at all as the truffle just absorbed the fries and made them extremely dense. After getting a new order it was already the 5th inning. We asked for our check and ran out of there. I always stop at the Yard House before a Sox game but now I will have to seek other options. We've been coming here for happy hour for some time now and we've always had the same experience. It's a room full of servers who just want you out as soon as possible. As for the food, you can tell it's rushed. The chicken is always extra deep fried. Sometimes I don't even think there's any chicken in the fried mess! The loaded nachos are drenched in oil and over salted. Everything feels like it was dropped into the deep fried and forgotten. It's just not the same as we're used to at other location. The first time I visited a Yard House was on my honeymoon in Hawaii. My husband and I loved it so much that we visited it multiple times. When I found out one would be opening in the Fenway area I was so excited! My husband and I made plans to go within the first week or two of when they opened. We have now been to the Fenway location twice and were not disappointed either time. The first time we went was on a weekend during the day. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated right away. The first thing we noticed is that the tables were nicely spaced apart (and not right on top of one another like some other local places). We also liked that they have a large number of booths as we prefer to sit in booths to enjoy and relax for our meal. In the middle there is a huge bar area where you can see the extensive tap list. This makes a nice area to wait in when there are no table available. There are tons of TVS surrounding the place which makes it a great place to watch a game. In addition, on a nice day, they have two outdoor patios in the back which is nice. We wanted to try a few things so we ordered three of the mini tacos on the insert menu (sooo good!) and the nachos (decent). My husband then ordered the burger (which looked amazing) and I had the turkey club. The turkey club was great along with the sweet potato fries (very tasty!). The best part about this place is the very extensive menu of beers on tap (I think its 130+?) and in addition they have a pretty extensive paper menu. The beers are served in various sizes including a 1/2 yard which is a huge glass! I love the options of the different sized beers along with the huge menu of beers on tap. Our second visit was following a Red Sox game. This night we did have to wait in line for about 15 min while they checked IDs. After checking in with the hostess we were told it would be a 45 min wait. My husband requested if possible that we could sit in a booth. We then headed to the bar area where we both ordered 1/2 yards. We were chatting with some others in the bar area when our name was called in much less time then was estimated (that always makes one happy!). To top things off, we had a nice booth! This time we once again had the small tacos. For the meal, I had the mac & cheese. The mac & cheese which good- it was very flavorful, not my favorite of the ones I have had in the past, but I usually prefer one with a different type of cheese, but had wanted to try this one. The waitress was very patient with us as we took our time enjoying out meal and ordering drinks. She came to check on us, but never rushed us to finish. In addition, when leaving we thought we spotted an error on our check. The waitress could not figure it out, but she quickly found someone to come look at it who spotted the error and apologized to us. I thought the level of service here was excellent. We really enjoyed both of our experiences both time, the variety of beer, and extensive food menu. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty slow. We sat at the bar and the bartender was an absolute sweetheart. He was so nice and gave us recommendations on the beers. He even let us try samples of beers. He would come over to check on us every now and then, and that made us feel very welcome. I really enjoyed this Yard House. Their drinks pack a strong punch, so be careful. If you're going to order drinks like an Old Fashioned, I'd recommend you get it neat with rocks on the side. The ice is small, so with a lot of surface area, they melt fast = dilution. Their beer selection is also vast. Tons of delicious IPAs, and very strong IPAs indeed with ~8%. We tried various pints. I'd rate their old fashioned an 8/10, if you get it neat! Service is also great here. They're attentive when you need them to be. I went to yard house after the billy joel concert at Fenway and the bouncer, bigger with brown hair, left and told my friend to watch the door. A few people walked in and my friend couldn't stop them so we decided to go in to tell them and the bouncer came rushing over to us telling us to leave and swearing in all of our faces for doing HIS JOB. The bartenders were also very upsetting when they told one of my friends to get out of the way when he was simply standing next to all of us waiting for a drink. RATS!!! Need I say more? I tried to take my son here tonight and we were seated in a booth, ordered, and waited for food. Once the food arrived, I had a couple bites before I noticed a rat run right next to us and across the dining room. Literally run across the dining room right in front of us. How big of a problem do you have to have that the rat feels comfortable enough to run through a dining room full of patrons? Is this real life?! I told the server and she appeared completely unfazed and walked away. I grabbed my son and we started walking back toward the server to let her know we were leaving. A man, who I presume was the manager, came up to me and apologized. He went on to say that there is a known issue with this and there is a hole in the foundation and they are working with the city of Boston to fix it, yada yada... Why do you need to work with the city to remedy a hole in your foundation? If you have a known rodent issue, WHY are you still open and serving food?! Absolutely inexcusably disgusting and unacceptable! I have lived on the East Coast and I am aware of the situation outside, I am also aware of the measures that need to be taken to safeguard a business, especially one that serves food, and I could not be more disappointed in Yard House for allowing this to continue. I will definitely be reporting this incident to the health department and I will not be visiting anymore Yard House locations in the future. They don't take reservations for under a party of 6, which makes it hard because we always seem to time it poorly and there's a long wait. Last night, we got lucky and snagged two bar stools. We started off with a queso dip with chorizio, which came with both flour tortilla and chips. My favorite meal is the porcini crusted halibut under their seafood menu. It is a generous portion of halibut with asparagus and bok choy in a delicious mushroom sauce. It normally comes on mashed potato, which I always sub for another green veg like broccolini. Beer selection is plentiful. Wine choice is okay. I've been to their Dedham location many times for business lunches. What's great: YH has a beautiful porch that is pleasant in the summer and they keep toasty in the early spring.
