Judging by the name I assumed it was only tea and drinks, which is what we went in for and what we had. However, to our surprise they have a really decent menu! The food looks and smells great and the service was quick and attentive. Overall, this place was an unexpected surprise. I'll go back.

This place is good for a quick snack but recently the rice ratio seems more than normal. Service is always good here but the wait times are inconsistent. One time I was there and it was only me ordered 1 rice ball...was almost 10-15 min wait. The other day I ordered 2 riceballs and there was about 4 ppl in front of me I waited less than 3 minutes.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute casual place to grab a bite & refreshing boba tea![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You can place your order on a digital screen, or at the counter with staff. We placed it at the counter, there was quite a line, but it took 5 mins to get our drinks. Next time I will definitely try a snack, as everything other patrons were enjoying looked great!

Can't comment on the food, but I thought the drinks were very solid and refreshing. There are a lot of fruity tea options, perfect for a hot day. I love that there is the option to make any drink into a slush. A lot of the fruity tea combinations have a pretty similar flavor profile, so I don't think you can go wrong. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is one large communal table and some seats at the high table along the perimeter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were a steady flow of people coming and going, so seating wasn't too much of a hassle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I was super excited for the yuzu limeade but I was unable to adjust the sweetness which made this drink too sweet to enjoy for me. Would have liked to see more options for less sweet items.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]busy given its location in Ctown/Little Italy on Grand St.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] there is another Yaya tea in Ctown. Kiosks are available for ordering. Staffer was helpful to me. I only got the Shrimp Tempura rice ball which was stated as popular and made fresh to order ($4.20). I still have problems opening them!

This is a small family owned chain of bubble tea shops that are scattered around the city. They have a good selection of fruit and milk teas. Their rice balls are also very popular. However, I just felt like trying their milk tea so I tried the Matcha tea latte as well as their oolong tea. The sugar levels were adjustable and I appreciated that so my drinks were not too sweet. The only thing that I can criticize about their milk tease is that they use it powder in order to make them instead of using actual brew cold tea to make the drink. For their non-milk, tea drinks I noticed that they actually used real brew tea. The service was friendly.

No wifi here if you are looking to do some work or study. I tried a small salmon rice ball which had mostly rice. It was ok. Service hmmm. Well I'm sure it's nice kids but all I could hear is the chit chat between the workers on 12/30 around 2:45pm. Unprofessional IMO but I get it they are young and having fun on the job. I won't be back here though. Many options in the area.

    Small onigiri

Yaya is a reliable chain for quick and delicious onigiris! My go-tos are the Yaya shrimp rice ball (tempura + seaweed salad) and the tuna rice ball. I also like the small onigiris better than the larger ones - the larger ones have too much rice and fall apart easier. There are multiple locations in the city and this one was the most disorganized/messy one I've been to. There were a lot of stacked boxes on the ground, full of extra straws/packaging. There are a few bar and counter seats but it didn't seem like anyone was making sure they were clean - there were lots of little pieces of rice/sauce on the tables when I was waiting to pick up my order on a busy weekend afternoon.

    Austin G.

A bubble tea place that also sells onigiri? I'm in! Order from one of two tablets and your order is up within minutes. For the bubble tea, they ask you what type of balls you want and the sweetness level. (50% was perfect for me but it does go up to 150%.) My daughter enjoyed the non caffeinated tea with strawberry pop in it.

Appreciate the fact that I was asked the amount of Ice and sugar I wanted as opposed as assuming I wanted standard on everything. I know majority of places have this option in the menu but it's kind of nice they ask. Tea was delicious and service was fast. They also have some snacks available.

Second Chance that doesn't deserve another chance!

I usually get the Boyfriend Drink which is Mango + Lychee White Tea or Mango Black Tea w/o ice and 50% sugar when I'm around Nolita. Decided to try something different today. WRONG MOVE!!! Should've stuck with my usual drink choices! Upset that I'd wasted money on this drink called Second Chance (Strawberry & Peach White Tea) which certainly doesn't deserve a 2nd or Nth # of chances. I asked for large, no ice, w/ aloe vera & 75% (regular) sugar level. But when I took the first sip, I immediately regretted ever picking this drink in the first place. Looked so pretty with the orangey color & strawberry pulp floating around at the bottom. BUT...Didn't taste the tea, no strawberry or peach flavors, wasn't sweet at all despite the 75% sugar added to the drink, and even the aloe vera couldn't save/help it. The texture of their aloe vera wasn't like the ones I was used to that were chewy and sweet. This one had a mushy texture that I dislike a lot. Felt like I'd gotten ripped off!!! I am so much better off drinking iced tap water from Starbucks and that's free! I'm not sure who decided to put this drink on the menu but I'll not be ordering it ever again!!! The color didn't match the flavors. SUPER disappointed w/ it. The staff was welcoming and polite though, greeting you with a smile when you walked in. Fast service too, not much of a wait. Lesson of the Day: Stick with the drinks you already know, otherwise you would be very disappointed & upset like me. P.S I'll probably return to try the food on the menu. But definitely no more Second Chance...

Shrimp Tempura Riceball and Japanese Riceball with Spicy Mayo
    Aleena G.

This place is a cute spot to get a quick cheap bite in the heart of Chinatown. The spot is well know for their delicious riceballs and my go to are the shrimp tempura and Japanese riceball. YOU MUST get the spicy mayo! It pairs so well with them and gotta have it with every bite. I got the kawaii smile which is a refreshing mango and lychee tea. Yayas has quick and easy service and definitely a spot to check out :)

Could someone tell me what's one of the most popular items on the menu ? Thanks (:

For onigiris, yaya chicken or japanese. For drinks; boyfriend, which is mango and lychee flavored white tea. And entree dishes, either yakisoba with protein of your choice or the tokyo fried chicken over rice

They are fairly strict with their dining time period as it is busy. Be sure to book a reservation. Their menu is fairly large with plenty of appetizers as well as hot and cold udon options (note: this is a udon spot, not ramen). I got their kanimaze (cold) and their tantan (hot) and both were delicious. The kanimaze was refreshing and full of flavor. And the tantan was rich, comforting, and warm. Their shrimp tempura and agedashi were also great. Lightly fried and not too greasy. Would love to come back to try their other options.

It was a pleasant surprise to see that they expanded into the adjacent storefront. Now there's 4-5 booths and a bar table. The annex matches the interior design of their Soho and Midtown location and feels clean and spacious. Service was a bit slow from the hostess to the server. We ordered: small chicken tatsuta-age, niku udon, kamonan udon, assorted mushroom udon, green tea tiramisu, souffle fruit roll, soba pudding. Appreciate how big the chunks of meat are used for fried chicken. The exterior was a bit overfried but the interior stayed Broth and udon aligns with their Soho location which makes me more willing to come to this location moving forward. The assorted mushroom is seasonal. It's a nice lighter cleaner option but at the same time the mushrooms don't add much flavor. Kamonan is the duck which I chose because duck is a less common meat option around. I felt that the duck was a bit tough and bland yet also added too much oil into the clean broth (relatively to me). Niku is an OG but I haven't had it in a while. This time I was surprised how the marinate is light resulting in stronger meat flavor. I wish it would be more tender but it's alright. Desserts were more disappointing to me. I used to go to Patisserie Fouet frequently before they shut down the Union Square location. Green tea tiramisu had strong matcha soaks but I found the overall dessert to be a bit bland. The soaked sponge was a bit too wet too. Souffle fruit roll was huge, better to share with others especially after already eating savory food beforehand. I think it's intentional for the cake to be so dense. It came out really smooth but way too dense to feel like a dessert. I think I would eat this as breakfast instead. The raspberry sauce's tartness and punchiness is much needed otherwise I don't know if I can finish it. Soba pudding is my usual favorite and it stands up to the test of time. Still super smooth and with wheaty depth.

The katsu was very, very moist on the inside, with a crispy batter that was so light it was almost flavorless. I honestly couldn't really tell the difference between the tenderloin and pork loin. Overall the dish had a very light flavor and I added quite a bit of sauce and wasabi. Some of the less memorable dishes were the eggplant agebitashi and truffle rice. The eggplant agebitashi tasted like a cross between an eggplant parm and a bolognese. The truffle rice had a very strong truffle flavor that ended up overpowering everything else in the dish. I thought the slices of raw button mushrooms were a little strange. I really enjoyed the sabazushi. The pieces of mackerel were thick and carried a lot of that characteristic mackerel oily flavor, but the oiliness was cut by enough vinegar to balance everything out. The niku udon was also a surprise hit. The noodles were wide, flat, super slurpy, and the broth carried a deep umami flavor. Overall, I had a pretty solid experience here.

Ended up ordering the following: - Bottle of strawberry nigori sake (could have gotten one per person but we were already hitting a bar afterwards) - Yakitori combo appetizer (two skewers of each of the following: chicken+scallion, chicken meatball, and scallops): all of the skewers were delicious. I could have easily eaten three orders by myself. Succulent, juicy scallops, perfectly cooked chicken and scallions, and the chicken meatballs were perfectly moist and delicious. - Shrimp tempura appetizer: I love for shrimp so this one was all for me. Excellent tempura batter and nice-sized shrimp. - Trico roll: shared by the three others in my party and they all said they'd get it again. - Beef Yakiniku Don: probably my favorite. My GF got this and shared some with me. Amazing flavor and perfectly cooked. After a few bites I decided I would get this next time I come back for lunch. 7/5. - Pork Belly Nabe: my friend said it was delicious but I can't give it a rating myself. - Yakitori Don: my other friend got this and it looked as good as the chicken skewers we had as an appetizer. Again, can't give it a rating based on taste, but on looks a 5/5. - Yaki Udon: I got this. I was originally going to get sukiyaki but since two people had to order and no one else did, I ended up ordering this (my alternate was the Beef Yakiniku Don but my GF had already ordered so I got a different dish). Only complaint was that it could have had a little bit more beef but overall, perfectly sheet udon noodles, sauce, and beef. Would still get it again. 4.5/5. $180 for all (pre-tip). Well worth the price. Next time I return it'll be for sukiyaki, though, and I'll make sure whoever I go with is going to get it, too. 5/5, will be back.

I usually order spicy ramen at most ramen spots, so that's what I went with my first time here. Big mistake. The spicy ramen really takes away from the depth of flavor. If you actually want to appreciate the broth, the classic ramen is the way to go. You can always add spicy oil yourself. A few things could definitely be improved. For an upscale ramen spot in the heart of NYC, I was surprised the tap water was straight-up lukewarm. Nobody wants lukewarm water after eating a piping-hot bowl of ramen. I'd also avoid the bar seating if you can. The seats aren't very comfortable, especially if your back tends to get tight from sitting hunched over. Another small but surprisingly annoying issue is the front door, it doesn't have a slow-close mechanism, so it's constantly slamming shut. Depending on where you're sitting, it can get pretty loud and distracting while you're trying to eat. On the positive side, the service was great. The staff was attentive, and the food came out incredibly quickly after ordering, which I really appreciated. The ambiance definitely fits the upscale NYC ramen vibe without feeling overly fancy. You don't need to dress up, casual clothes are completely fine. I'll definitely be back, classic ramen next time, no question.
