" Awesome Dawson " Margarita De La Casa I already ate dinner . However I came to find this place ; while walking my dog. I got myself a " strawberry Coconut " Margarita". Recommend by the super nice waitress and it was delicious . The ambience is welcoming and friendly. Even my dog was welcomed on the outside patio with fresh water. They have metered parking or street non meter parking. Just read the posted signs before parking . The prices are reasonable and pretty good for the portion , taste , and freshness of the drinks. Everytime I try Mexican food in Boston my standards are lowered greatly. Not really any quality spots here but accepting something in the middle that's pricey and of course trendy. And with that honesty ...introducing Yellow Door Taqueria. They have three locations in Boston and I decided to try their south end one at Ink Block. From my company I discovered prior to this there was Lion's Den which was a cocktail bar with a speakeasy that lasted 3 years(2016-2018). The inside looks very trendy which is kind of what I was expecting but the space was a good size. I had looked at the yelp pictures and it looked small but I was pleasantly surprised. There is a big couch which I was seated at with a table and chairs on the other side that is perfect seating for a large group of 6-8 people.The heating was obviously nearby because it was really hitting me which I guess I shouldn't complain since it's been so cold lately. The server was nice and friendly, always checking up on us when we needed something and didn't give us a disapproving expression when we asked for 5 separate checks. It wasn't crazy busy but there was definitely a good flow of people coming into the restaurant. It was also hard to tell though because we were secluded in a corner next to the bar which was actually very nice. The menu food wise is pretty straightforward apps/to share, enchiladas and tiny tacos on the front. The back side is for the drinks and they even had a dry january menu... so considerate. My cocktail was in one of those big bodied wine glasses I love and was perfect: tropical and sweet. Can't say I really tasted alcohol lol but I was sipping her real slow so who knows? The cocktails were at the lower price side of $14 which was nice vs the avg $15-17 and seaport $20-22. Finally to the food... tacos. When you go to taco spots I feel like they usually have the same things, you know: carne asada, pork, fish, etc. Their menu had some interesting ones like scallop and duck tacos. My favorites were the scallop taco which had perfect flavor and texture, and then I tried the queso carne and that one was YUM. I now understand why two other people in our table who have been here before got that as well. The side of rice was so sad though like I didn't even finish it tasted like it had just been sitting there which it probably had. I would probably come again if I was in the area and needed a drinks & apps fix but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. The shrimp taco literally tasted like vomit. I had to take 2 more small bites so that I could convince myself I wasn't hallucinating. I can't ever remember tasting something that had the absolute taste of puke. Briny, sour....i don't even know how to describe it. I didn't dine in at the restaurant; we ordered takeout instead. The to-go packaging was great--each taco had its own holder! That said, I still can't justify paying $8-10 for a single taco, especially since the portion was smaller than expected and the toppings were minimal. The flavor was mediocre overall. Overall: I will say coming from LA I always find it hard to justify buying $10+ tacos but let me tell you that these were pretty worth it. Food: not the best birria tacos I've had but my goodness does it hit the spot. Disclaimer I prefer my birria tacos absolutely soaking wet with all the pork fat and the cheese but that's not for everyone. I will say the flavors were spot on and for a good price too. Ugh, good God why? Worst tacos I've ever eaten. Like what did they even do to these tacos to make them so bad? I like the fusion aspect of tacos and seeing the menu I was not expecting an authentic Mexican street tacos, but these were truly foul. For seven dollars (or eight maybe?) I got an extremely fishy tasting, itsy bitsy, spicy tuna taco. It had no redeeming characteristics. I was hoping for better from the duck taco I ordered, but it was over dry, and had lumps of hard duck meat like it had been sitting under a heat lamp since John Winthrop founded his city on a hill. Did they have heat lamps in 17th century America? Overall, the food was absolutely terrible. Perhaps it was an off day as they have really good reviews on yelp. Two stars for the drinks, service and ambiance, which were all excellent. I would stop in for a drink again, but will skip the food. read more

Disclaimer: this is based on ordering delivery, I did not eat AT the restaurant. With that being said, I've never been more impressed by a food delivery. The restaurant packed EVERYTHING individually and in separate containers (the sauces were all separate and labeled for what dish they belonged to), the tacos were in individual taco holders standing upright, and the food arrived HOT. For delivery, I ordered the chips and queso, elote (option for off the cob!!!), patatas bravas, and chicken tinga quesadilla. I thought everything was VERY good!!! The elote had a bit of a kick to it, and the quesadilla tasted soooo good with the addition of chicken and lime crema sauce. Really enjoyed all of the food from here. FINALLY Brigham Circle has a cool place for after work drinks and food. I've happy hour'ed (yes it is a verb) /gotten dinner here a few times now. So I have to give it 5/5 because it filled a void and that is meaningful. The drinks are great. SOOOOOO many margarita options. I'm a sucker for the Jalapeño margarita and they make it extra spicy for me . I'm slowly making my way through the menu. Enjoyed the queso carne, birria, and fish frito tacos. Duck one was a little bland for my taste. My friends loved the mushroom barbacoa. Elote is good. Definitely get the chicken flautas. Staff has always been nice and chill. We went for an early dinner and there was no one there really, but it could maybe get louder later in the evening. First, I want to be clear that the fault is all mine. This was my first time trying Yellow Door Taqueria, and I did not know their rules. I just want to share my experience so that others can avoid the same mistake and can make their own decision whether you want to spend your evening there or not. I made a reservation for 6:30. At 6:30, I got a message confirming the reservation, and "Reply 1 if you are on your way". I replied "1" to confirm. It was a pouring night, and we were trying to find a parking spot. By the time we got to the restaurant through the pouring rain, it was 6:41. We were then told firmly that our table was gone because we were more than 10 minutes late. Pleading yielded no results with the very stern receptionist. It was a quite unreal comedic Seinfeld moment. We had to find another restaurant and we ended up having a very good time at another place. I was determined to treat my team well and we had a lot of drinks food and laughter. Just not with Yellow Door, unfortunately. read more

Yellow Door Taqueria in Mission Hill is an extension of the Yellow Door in the South End and I believe there is another location as well. I have only been to the Mission Hill location and have gone there twice now. The first time I went I got 5 tacos (which are huge) because they were that good and I could not stop myself. The tacos here are on the pricier side ($6-$7 per taco), but they are stuffed with filling and much heartier than tacos I have had at Lolita, Bartaco, etc. I have had the queso carne, coconut shrimp, scallop frito, carnitas, fried pork belly, fried fish taco, and the patatas bravas. All of the tacos were very good, but my ultimate favorites are the queso carne and the scallop frito. One thing that I will mention is that most of their tacos have a sweet flavor which I personally enjoy, but I understand why someone would not love it. The scallop, coconut shrimp, fish, and even the queso carne have a little bit of sweetness in them, but I think it adds depth to the flavor. Queso carne is much different than their other tacos because they are filled with meat and cheese and if you're looking for a meaty and hearty taco I would recommend this one. One thing I have not tried are the cocktails (other than the sangria which is good but I am sure not as good as their margs). Randomly, they have very good cold brew if you're going for brunch or need a non-alcoholic caffeine boost. Yellow Door is a great spot but if you have an insane appetite like myself it can be a bit pricey. Regardless, I think their tacos are unique and 100% worth trying. I went the other day and my server Alyssa was so attentive and accommodating and helped me make decisions on which tacos to order. If you like tacos and have tried the popular spots in Boston I am sure Yellow Door will satisfy your taco cravings and maybe offer something unique to what you have had before. read more

Fun spot with delicious tacos. Had the street corn nachos, tuna ceviche, Birria taco and fried fish taco. The street corn nachos are yummy and the chips are the right mix of salty and crunchy and hold up well with the spicy street corn sauce. The Birria taco is chuck full of beef and covered in cheese- its everything you could ever want in a taco. I want more of these. The ambiance is nice with a tropical feel, the bathrooms are really cute with great vibrant colors. It's great for a date night, drinks or a quick taco Tuesday. I normally would get a birria taco or the fish but I ventured out this time. I got the street corn nacho's and added chicken. They loaded the chicken and sauce on there which made the elote ingredients almost invisible like where's the beef in this case corn and the sweetness taste of corn kind of disappeared. The portion could have been a meal. I got the scallop taco which was on point and down right delicioso but, the coconut shrimp taco flavors were not all all there for me. Then I tried the duck which I was excited for but it was over loaded on the mini soft taco or tortilla and the meat had no good flavors on the duck or within it. The flavor for these 2 tacos were not great! They need to rethink the flavor profiles for these. The steak and fish I've had at the original location were great. As a Texan, paying $7 for a taco is a bit crazy but these were genuinely delicious. My favorite was the Queso Carne because of the onion and bacon jam. They just started brunch & I highly recommend! They take reservations as well. Staff was super friendly and asked for all our feedback on the dishes since they were new, and the service was so fast. We had the coquito cocktail which they let us sub the rum for vodka & it was amazing! We shared the breakfast nachos which were huge even for 4 people, and delicious. Highly recommend those & the birria Benedict. They gave us some patatas bravas as well which I wish were crispier but the sauce on them was amazing! Would 10000% go back. This was a nice taco find! I feel like there are only a few decent spots for tacos in Boston, but I would definitely come back here. As a group of 4, we ordered the chips and guacamole and a side of salsa to start, the guac was super fresh and well seasoned, and the chips were super tasty as well. We ordered an array of tacos and I ended up having the shrimp, queso carne and the duck tacos. The queso carne was the best by far. The meat was tender and juicy, and all the toppings went really well with it. The shrimp taco was also very tasty, served with pomegranate seeds which I haven't seen before. The duck taco was disappointing: the meat was dry and the vanilla plantain mousse was weird and off putting, too sweet. Most of us also ordered margaritas which you can order spicy and with your choice of salt or sugar rim. Overall a good solid spot for tacos and great ambiance. read more

Love this spot. They have an inventive menu that never disappoints. I have visited 4 different times now and have been able to try a different taco each time. They have quick service, and you hardly have to wait for a table even at peak times. I recommend the Birria taco to everyone. It has a magical dipping sauce that I could drink. We ended up having to get our food to go and leave early since the mice kept coming out and it was disgusting. I went to yellow door with some work friends for a friend's birthday and the experience turned out to be awful. First, the service was terrible. The drinks weren't even that strong and they took forever bringing them out. When they finally came, she brought them one at a time and kept asking us again what drink we ordered because she has really bad memory. Our, food was disgusting and took forever to come out. I ordered chicken tacos and it looked like it was thrown together with a huge pile of cheese and it was cold. I was to embarrassed to take a picture and share it on my social media. The waitress was rude and very slow with our orders. They forgot the second round of drinks and messed up some of my friends food orders. They kept asking us if we were done, like they wanted us to leave so they can serve the next people. We wont be coming back to this place again. I think they need to retrain the staff or hire new people or just shut the whole place down. read more
