Yeomiji is so conveniently located next to the Scarsdale train station - a short ride from grand central. The restaurant itself has a great interior with lots of light, and cute decor. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. I went here to try the Korean bbq,and when i arrived shortly after opening the place was empty so I had my choice of seats. I found the place asthetically pleasing but that could be because I was looking at the grills on the tables. I felt this place would be a peaceful location to have lunch or catch up with old friends while being taught how to bbq. I didn't know how to do it so I requested the chef to bbq the meats for me. The waiter was super nice and explained the menu and the process of bbqing meat which after consideration shouldnt be done by beginners. They served the classic sides for the dishes after the entrees were ordered. I had the beef bulgogi with rice. The beef was very flavorful and well cooked. I enjoyed the sides as well, espcialy the potato salad and kimchi. I only knocked down a star because I did not enjoy a black sesame shaved ice dessert. I almost want to rate it lower to keep the place from blowing up in popularity but that'd be bad for Karma. This is where namu used to be, we came here expecting namu. It is different but not in a bad way. Namu presented the food beautifully but here the food was tasty and different. They have bbq cook on the top tables. They cooked it for us, which was very nice, all the meat came out perfect. We got a bbq sampler almost perfect for three at 59 dollars. Horrible does not begin to explain our time there. We loved Namu and waited for the replacement to open well I can say it it was horrible and I will never return. When we sat down at the table I noticed how dirty the grill and table were, it looks as if it was not cleaned after the last few patrons I ordered a drink with a girl who I thought was a waitress, 20 minutes later no drink and I got the answer oh I forgot, this was followed by our entree arriving before our salad, at this point we got up and left. I used to love going to this place. Have good feelings about how my day was going to go. However it usually ends in major disappointment. I have tried alot of the food and drinks they make. Despite their food and drinks being good, they lack in organization. This isn't a small problem for this restaurant, it's a huge one that leaves me very disappointed that a place with good food might go down on. I have not only been a customer of this place but also the bartender. I feel like it is my duty to bring to light some of the many issues this restaurant faces. I'll start with one of the biggest issues I had with the restaurant, it's about how badly the owner treated the servers as well as myself. On a afternoon expecting a large reservation of about 12 people, acquaintances of the owner, tested my patience. Everything went really smooth in the beginning. Abigail, the owner, was giving the guests free desserts and small gifts. The server was great and Abigail assisted. However with a large group the tip is expected to be included in the bill. The group food pay the amount in full, but added $50 on top of that. Assuming they were being very generous in leaving extra tip, Abigail decided to keep this extra 50 dollars they gave. Her excuse was that the clients didn't know the tip was included. I was furious, it didn't affect my tip, I was furious for the server. She not only works hard but she was always nice. That's the one that stood out most to me. If you want to support a crooked lady like Abigail please do so, but realize how badly she treats her employees and how unfair she is. When I started working here for the bartender position she warned me to always fill a cup of liquor even if it isn't the liquor the patron asked for. I replied with I'm not going to do that. Not only that, she also suggested I water down some bottles. Knowing there could be some legal ramifications for actions like that if I did, I decided not to. Now as a customer she has not changed her ways. I had ordered 2 very large portions of dumplings and chicken fried rice for a party. Gave enough time to prepare and everyone in the restaurant knew. On the day of picking up she had got the chicken fried rice wrong and only made fried rice. We had a big arguement. She decided to fix it but wasn't happy. I had to wait 15 minutes to something that was supposed to be ready an hour ago. On top of her attitude she wanted to charge me more for her mistake. I can go on and on about how the management is bad and some food and drinks were prepared the wrong way but I don't want to write a novel. Thanks for reading. So we really do need more Korean restaurants in the area, but this one has some issues. I do feel like the owner doesn't handle criticism about the food experience well at all. I asked her why the soup has such a small portion of meat in it and she then proceeded to stick her hand right above my soup and point out the small stringy bits that were hidden here and there (I ordered yuk gae jang). For $17 dollars I was not pleased at the stingy amount of meat. I ended up finishing the bowl because there was really very little to eat in it. Sad :( Same issue for my husbands hot stone pot (again, very small meat portion. We did not pay for the lunch deal as we arrived at 3pm and paid for the dinner menu and dinner prices (which is fine by me--I don't mind). Just makes me think this restaurant is going into a death spiral where they try to save money on the cost of your meal by skimping on core items like meat/protein. Banchan was also hit and miss. The cucumber kimchi and bean sprouts were great but the other pickle and kimchi tasted like they had gone too sour/fermented too long. Too bad because the decor and location is great. My galbitang came without the bone and heavily salted probably with MSG. Can't speak about the BBQ because we didn't try it. However, the behavior of the owner is what really made this review 2-stars. She told us there wasn't a lunch special on Sunday's even though the menu said so and the table behind us ordered it. When we called her out on it, she said we could order it but it'd be extra price. Another family walked out when they were told the same thing. We probably should've done the same. For Korean bbq in westchester, you're better off going to Korea Garden or even Kalbi House. For everything else, HMart food court and So Gong Dong will suffice. read more

3 star for quality of food and barely 3 star for quality of service. We happened to be around Scarsdale and craving Korean BBQ so came to this place. Given we are from NYC, we weren't expecting the food to be superior to that in K-town or Flushing from the beginning. But I just learned today that something like K-BBQ could really be of different standards at different places. Having been charged $30 for a small serving of pork, the quality of the meat was really meh. And the even higher priced kalbi was also so so. What's worse, the waiter walked away for a long while leaving the pork to grill on its own, and it was starting to over burn. I had to do the turning myself or would have ended up with some charred and dried bacon had I not. It was the same waiter that appeared so impatient when we first came to get ourselves down for a reservation at a later time given it was full when we came. He was doing a bunch of other stuff and talking to a bunch of people while we were just waiting awkwardly in the front for him to simply write our info down for the reservation, but he finally reluctantly did.
