Thanks to my deep dive and discovery on Yelp, MCCB turned out to be the perfect spot to achieve this. The restaurant has held its Michelin status for five years now, and for my first time visiting, the flavors here were incredible. Please note: the restaurant signage is not easily visible from the street since the storefront faces inward toward the mall plaza, and while looking for it, I ended up asking a local man and his wife for directions. He was so kind and welcoming that he unexpectedly left his wife on the sidewalk, my husband in the car, and walked me right across the street and into the mall to point it out from the inside! WAIT TIME: there is a 1 to 1.25 hour wait period to be seated for a table, and a $10 fee via credit card is required to secure your spot, which is then fully transferable to your bill upon checkout. The wait is a great time to walk, explore the shops, restaurants, all Chinatown has to offer, and get your steps and miles in! SERVICE: our first server, Allen, was a bit on the stiff, curt side, but overall nice. However, we had to move from a two-top table to a four-top to accommodate all the dishes we were trying. In that changeover, we were blessed to get one of the BEST servers there, Ashley, who made the experience wonderful. FOOD: we ordered an absolute feast, starting with three starters. The Cheng Du Style Dumplings were fantastic. The Crispy Crab Rangoons were actually not mini at all and had a great crunch. The Szechuan Style Cucumber was a bit underwhelming and a slight bit on the soft side for my tastes, as I prefer my veggies crunchy even when cooked. We ordered everything with the mild heat option so there was no overwhelming spice, just great flavor. For the main dishes, we started with the Cauliflower Flank Steak and added broccoli to it, which was a fantastic addition. It is cooked in an oyster sauce and has none of the standard sweeter seasonings of the other dishes. I chose this to balance a sweet and salty rationing across my dishes, finding that MCCB is a great place to get that perfect balance. The Chicken in Spicy Garlic Sauce was perfect with the mild heat option as well, and the Honey Black Pepper Flank Steak was also incredibly savory, tender, and good. We paired everything with garlic string beans, white rice, and a great jumbo shrimp fried rice. I preferred water, while my husband had a few Diet Cokes. The food comes out hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor. PARKING: parking is convenient--there is street parking or you can use the two north and south lots within walking distance. The north lot is on Archer and Wentworth, and the south lot is on Cermak and Wentworth. Validated parking is permitted for a maximum of 3 hours, and you will only pay $3 with the validation. Just make sure to stay within that time limit and get it validated, because if you go over the 3 hours or forget the validation, you will have to pay the full price for the lot. PRICE: the pricing here is very reasonable for a Michelin-recognized restaurant. Our dinner came out to just under $146 total, which offers phenomenal value given the large portions and top-tier quality. If you are seeking high-quality, delicious Sichuan food in Chinatown that completely lives up to its multi-year Michelin status, and can be customized perfectly to your spice comfort, this is a great place to go. Highly recommend and will return with family!

Service was fast and prices very reasonable especially when you consider how the prices of even simple bowls of ramen at other places have gradually gone up.

I am writing this review because I is review back in 2013 in April has been taken down I've been going to yes Thai since 2009 and Faithfully. Taking everybody I've known and ever met and once I was shown this restaurant and 2013 and April I had a horrible experience with these people they know me by face and telephone number and people that I associate with at this restaurant my good friend at the time were visiting the restaurant ordered our food and proceeded to eat our food once we ate our food I was going to pay my check they brought the check to the table I gave them my debit card and the lady at the register was very new and didn't really speak English that well so she kept swiping my card wanted to do debit I told her that I wanted to do the Debit but anyway she locked my card up so I knew that there was a corner store at that time there's no longer there now that had a ATM machine so I told the young man that I know they're very well I'm going to go to the ATM machine just get the funds out because I don't have enough cash when I tell you my friend went outside to smoke a cigarette while I paid I tried to walk towards the door I had my arm in a door and the cook and everybody in the restaurant that work there came to slam the door on my arm at butcher knives damn near like sword in my face trapping me and lock me in the restaurant in the heat with no air condition scaring the living shit out of me and yelling at me I yelle so I told my friend through the door of the window to call the police so they can come to the restaurant people know me and they know how I know they're restaurant they know people that I've been coming there with 8 + years and they wanted me to even call the friend that referred me to the restaurant that I ate there with from time to time over this past decade and just about for me that I was a regular there that person lives in a whole nother state. I try to go to the ATM which is at the corner to get the money at my friend I even told to stay at the restaurant while I got the money they came at me like there were trying to murder me at the restaurant butcher knives Cooks cashiers everybody that work there if I guess it's family-owned please had to explain all this to them of course they were racist as well they didn't really give two fux about it but at the end of the day the food is very good but the service is horrible and let alone even if you do not enjoy your food they still want you to pay for it even if they have an off-day or what have you but it is not okay for these people their hands on people and patrons and customers at all for no reason you should not put your hands or threaten another long harm or forcefully use any weapons towards anyone this is ridiculous for a restaurant and they have yet to apologize in a restaurant as much anymore I try to get my food to go but that experience piss me off to the highest level and I've never gotten over it no matter how much I recommend the restaurant people just for a dining and it's good and inexpensive they are not great at customer service let alone they don't really speak English that well to understand your experiences read more

Since Yelp removed my original review, you know because you can pay them to have reviews removed, I figured I would post again. From 10/24: The food is usually pretty good, but the customer service is horrible. We went to where the delivery driver was supposed to drop off the food, but he never arrived, and I had to go look for him. After two phone calls to the restaurant, finally, about one hour and forty five minutes later, we had our food. By that time, everything was barely warm, soggy, and overcooked. When I called the restaurant, some rude, dismissive "manager" berated, spoke over, and informed that me this was my fault because the driver kept calling the wrong number. There are much better options out there, avoid this place. Aroy Thai is about a mile from Yes Thai, has better food and customer service. read more

Man, this place couldn't get any better. Cozy restaurant, beautiful decor, delicious food, wonderfully presented. Definitely an ideal place to take your significant other on a first date or an anniversary dinner. The food's a bit expensive though, but I think they realize that so they serve you in a befitting manner in order to compensate for high cost. If your wallet can take a beating, then trust me; It'll be worth it. By the way, did I mention there's a water mill right next to the restaurant? What they do well, they do very very well. And what they don't... I tend to order anyway. Most places just kick ass on their appetizers and they'll coast on their entrees figuring one plate of Pad Thai is very much like the next. Not so with Yes. Their appetizers are fair-to-middling, some a little better some a little worse, but overall, save your money. Same with desserts. Now that you've saved your money, you're free to look at the entrees, most of which are very very good. Try the catfish or the basil chicken. Very yummy? YES! read more

I'm long overdue for a Yelp review for Yes Thai; we have been going here for the last 4-5 years, and have always had a great experience. The food is the best Thai I've had in Chicago, hands down. The menu is a little pricier than the average Thai joint, but is absolutely worth it for the quality of the ingredients. Favorites are the catfish pad woonsen, baby eggrolls, and the noodle salads. The staff are all great, service is quick, and food is awesome. Love these guys. read more

Love this place. I always get the curry and it doesn't matter which color because it is delicious!! When my gf and I do not feel like cooking for the night we almost always choose to get Yes Thai for delivery. The prices are great, the staff is accommodating and friendly, and all I can say is get the dang curry! Even though, I have never dined here I have ordered takeout, quite a few times from here. I love their Pad Thai and always look forward to eating it whenever I've ordered. I've normally gone to pick up either right around opening or right around closing so I can't speak on what a full house feels like. Meh. The Pad Thai was... OK. Kind of fishy tasting & I really hate fish. The seats hurt my back & butt and it feels really crammed inside when they bring out the wine cooler for your wine (I kept knocking my foot on it which would make the table shake). We've been coming here for years, and our favorite server has been there for what feels like forever. He has always been amazing, and we've always made sure to tip him in cash because we wanted HIM to get his tip. Recently, we heard/read claims from people connected to the restaurant about how card tips were allegedly being handled, and if those claims are true, that is extremely disappointing. I also heard that our server had been told the restaurant would eventually be sold to him, only for the owners to apparently sell it to someone else without even telling him. Again, I wasn't personally there for those conversations, so I'm not going to pretend I know every detail, but hearing that story was honestly heartbreaking. Regardless of all of that, my personal experience with the restaurant after the ownership change has been awful. The food quality has gone way downhill, and the restaurant does not feel like the place my family used to love. It genuinely sucks watching a restaurant that used to mean so much to our family change this much. The one thing I will say is that our server has always been amazing and deserves better.

We practically had the restaurant all to ourselves during this early lunch slot, and that was fine with us. We were pleased that they offer lunch specials, and they are good on a Saturday as well. Each lunch special comes with a can of soda. I went with a plate of beef lo mein, certainly a decent sized portion for lunch that satisfied my craving for noodles. My love enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken, which comes with fried or white rice. It was nice that the sauce was served separately in the bowl (with a few chucks of pineapple) so that they do not soak the breaded pieces of chicken. I wouldn't say En Lai is a destination restaurant, but the food is pretty decent and our total bill including tax was under $20 for our two lunch specials - not too shabby. Now about that rain...

The food was ready quickly (it was a slow day for them) and traveled well. It looked like they had a huge dining area for people who eat there. The food was pretty good! Nothing incredible but Asian comfort food that warms you up and really hits the spot. We will definitely order from them, especially as you can get a small discount if you order ahead on their website.

I am delighted to share that Similan nails both in a way that surprised even this cynical old grouch. I'd visited many months ago, ordering the Crab Rangoons and Pad See Ew with Chicken. The experience fell onto the back burner until it was covered with cobwebs, thus I made it a point to return. Upon ordering the same, the server informed me of the lunch special, where I could get the same as part of a lunch special, with a soup or salad, all for $12-something. The only caveat is it comes with two rangoons instead of six. No problem, I love rangoons, but I don't love the guilt of munching down six of these things! The crab rangoons with the lunch special were half-moon shaped (don't know if they changed the recipe from spearheads, or if it's different for the lunch special only). These were fresh and hot, with a tasty filling. I'd like to note that the filling was a little sweeter and less funky than I've had in most Chinese and Japanese restaurants - not a negative, per se, just a statement of fact. I am very pleased to report the cucumber salad was also scrumptious. This one even beat out a vinegar bomb I had at a place three times the price that shall remain nameless. The sweet and sour sauce was delicate, and used in perfect amount to accent the flavor. IIRC, there were some other veggies as well, with everything working together. What really blew me out of the water was the Pad See Ew. I've been around the block a couple times, and I expected veggies that need power tools, and chicken dryer than the Atacama Desert. Guess what? It was nothing like that! The veggies, even the broccoli and the little corn cobs I don't know the names of, were cooked to a perfect firmness. The chicken was tender too! As for the overall dish, the use of sweet soy was perfect for that sweet and salty combo that makes salted caramel so great! The noodles sopped up this sauce perfectly, themselves being cooked ideally. Final verdict: Similan Thai is fantastic on its own, but for lunch doubly so. It is amazing there is not a line out the door during these hours.

I love the restaurant's food and drink, the wonderful atmosphere, and the awesome decorations. The owners are wonderful people! The service is excellent, and the menu is excellent! Thank you to Similan Thai & Sushi Restaurant for being both a wonderful part of Chicago and a wonderful part of our Edgewater community.
