This place really is an odd mixture of fast food and Greek food... interesting. Their chicken salad was really tasty and very filling, though do be prepared to wait a little bit for the chicken to be cooked as it is made fresh for you (not really a bad thing). I also had a side of their hummus and pita. I was a huge fan of their pita, but I must say that I was truly intrigued by their hummus. I got the distinct taste of peanuts when I was eating it. Peanut in hummus? Hmmm... will have to investigate further, though as it stands right now I am not a fan of the nutty substance. I went back the this week (a week later) and had the gyros sandwich with french fries. I was happy to see that they make their french fries out of sliced potatoes and not some processed junk, and I am sure they would be more crispy when eaten fresh, and not in takeout form. Maybe I've been going to the wrong places, but I've learned to avoid anything cow-related when going to Mediterranean eateries. I'm just not a big fan of the various beef concoctions I've encountered, whereas the chicken is always good. I guess this time I broke my rule because I actually saw "steak sandwich" on the menu," and boy did the steak taste amazing! It was good, substantial and succulent chunks, not some kind of thin slices you find in cheese-steak joints. The pita was also fresh as was the vegetables inside. Some of my cohort thought there should have been more flavor, but I thought the yogurt sauce was really awesome and gave just the amount of flavor I need. If you need more spice, though, you might ask them if they have any sauces for you. It certainly is an unassuming place, make no mistake; either it was a Taco Bell in a past life, or it very much looks like it could have been. I am on a quest for the perfect tyropita. Yiassoo did not deliver. The tyropita tasted mostly like black pepper, not even a hint of feta, though it was delightfully crispy and flaky. In addition to the tyropita, i had some hummus and pita, both of which were uninspiring but entirely edible. If i were hungry and right outside this place and not hankering for anything in particular, i might eat here again, but it was nothing to write home about. read more

YYUUUMMM....the gyro meat is delicious and just thinking about them makes me drool. I've noticed that the gyro meat that is sold in the Bay Area can be gamey (perhaps too much lamb and not enough of a mix with beef?), but I'm happy to report the Yiassoo's gyro meat is completely free of gaminess and full of yumminess. We ordered a tray of just the gyro meat, along with their wonderful tzatziki sauce and pita bread, for a party at home. It was a hit with everyone because it was just so delicious- I probably could have eaten the entire tray on my own. All in all, the best gyro in the Bay Area. Though not as good as the gyros I used to get in NYC, Yiassoo's gyro is still great and I would definitely drive down in Cupertino just to have more. read more

As Yiassoo is around the corner from my house, it is by default one of my definite must-haves when I go home. The outside is pretty unassuming and jammed between the ever popular Taco Bell and Smoke Eaters, but it's definitely worth checking out. I usually order #11, the Chicken Souvlaki or the #15, the Gyro Plate. Both come with the traditional gyro sandwich and salad on the side. If I'm extremely hungry, the gyro wrap is like heaven in my mouth. Nom nom nom. The pita is sooo soft, the beef is perfectly seasoned, and there's a good mix of the other ingredients in the wrap, like the onions and sauce. And the salad is more of peppers, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and hunks of feta cheese together in a cup but it still balances out well with the gyro wrap. Their Bakalava is also the domb dot com. Save room for some! Their prices are decent for the amount of food you get, and the customer service is superior. The last time I came here, I walked in literally ten minutes before closing and they were sooo juiced to help me and never made me feel rushed. Ambiance: 4...Definitely a Greek hole in the wall. Service: 5...The happiest even at the most inconvenient of times. Taste: 5...Some things just go better together. Value/Price: 5...The most Greek food for your money I've ever seen. Yiassoo is basically a fast food Greek restaurant. They even have a value meal for a Gyro, fries, and drink combo. And actually back in the days when I was in elementary school, this location was a Taco Bell before. But anyway, whenever I go here, I exclusively get their Gyros. Not because the other foods suck, but it's more because I'm not open minded enough when I come here to get something different. Their gyros are decent. The meat doesn't taste all that fresh, but I think it's good enough and what do I really know about Greek food anyhow. They really do pile on the meat, tomatoes, and onions, and I love drowning it in whatever that white sauce is. If you want quick, decent Greek food, then come on down... at least it's better than going to McDonald's. read more

I've been on a hunt for a place that serves a good gyro salad and I think this place might just be it! My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night about an hour before closing and they were pretty packed. I ordered their gyro salad and a soda and my boyfriend just got their gyro. Our total came out just under $20. Our food was ready like 5 minutes later and my salad was huge. The meat was so tasty and well seasoned that I barely used any of that yogurt sauce. The meat goes so well with the salad which includes cucumbers, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, olives, and lettuce. It was just perfect and well balanced. My salad also came with pita bread, which I couldn't finish. My boyfriend liked his gyro but I think he prefers Mikonos in Milpitas a bit more. Overall, I would definitely come back if I'm in the area. It's probably good that I don't live close by, otherwise I might come here on a weekly basis. read more

A close friend of mine recommended Yiassoo for lunch. I ended up ordering a Gyro and it was just about as good as anyone could expect it to be. The lamb was tender the bread was warm and soft yet bounced back a little when you bit into it. Above all, the place was super clean. Although this looks like an old Taco Bell building, it has the feel of a sit-down restaurant. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and very economical. I'll be back. read more

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but despite the fact that I've lived within 5 min. of this place for the last two years, it wasn't until a couple of months ago that I finally decided to check it out. In fact, I have to thank Liz L. for recommending this place to me. From the outside (okay who am I kidding, the interior as well), it has the appearance of your common fast food joint. Then you go up to the counter, order your food (I recommend the super gyro), and sit and wait until you're called. When you get your food, you start to get this feeling that despite the fact that it looks like something you'd get at a mall, it could actually be good. Then you take that first bite, and suddenly it hits you... you realize that it's not just good, it's absolutely delicious! After my first time eating here, I actually felt cheated by all of the other gyro places I've ever been to (e.g., Taza in San Jose)! "Try that Greek place ‍, sure why not!" This is one of those gems that's hidden in plain sight. Having driven by hundreds of times without stopping, today was the day to try something new. Sure am glad we did, as they ended up surpassing our expectations with the quality of food. Found this place out of nowhere and honestly... it was a pretty decent find! It looks like an old Taco Bell (it probably is) and the staff doesn't seem very Greek authentic however.... it was the best gyro I've had in I don't know how long! SO GOOD! We ordered it to go and they packaged it up perfectly. I got the gyro and I saw the super gyro (which has extra of everything on it), but honestly the normal gyro was way more than large enough! And they give you a dipping sauce for fries (it's like a tzatiki sauce) that was suuuper tasty and basically if I had more of it I would have put it on everything for the next week! I also ordered a side of the falafel which was okay but not a repeat order. Will DEFINITELY be going back to take a gyro to my face STAT! Note: Prices aren't as reasonable as you'd think. read more

Place is okay, not my first choice for grabbing a gyro in the South Bay but if you're in the surrounding area it'll do. You'll get better tasting tzatziki sauce & lamb gyros at Athena's Grill but this place makes a decent gyro which also comes with larger chunks of cheese. Ordered a lamb super gyro recently, while decent in size the meat itself was a bit rough and too chewy for my taste. Not the best bang for buck either but hey, its Cupertino. More fast-foodish than I expected, and you pay about $7-$10 for it. The plates are mainly flatbread and fries, piled up to make you think there is more of your entree than there is. My friend and I went here last night. She ordered the falafel salad. They made her a steak salad. She told them, um, I ordered falafel. They told her steak sounds like falafel. She asked if it was maybe supposed to come with at least a side of falafel? Nope. They just stared her down, making her take the wrong order back to her table. She said it wasn't worth the hassle, and she was starving. They should have made her what she ordered, instead of telling her it was her fault and refusing to make her the right food. There is a big difference between steak and falafel, people! My chicken souvlaki was mainly flatbread, lettuce and fries, with a tiny bit of chicken with no real flavor. That and a snapple and a bit of hummus set me back $12. If you want really yummy Mediterranean food, go to Dish Dash in downtown Sunnyvale. read more

I'm drooling as I'm writing my review, I just love Greek food to pieces and it's just so hard to find good Greek food at the locale where I'm usually stationed. I absolutely regret not going here more often in my youthful days. I ordered the Super Gyros sandwich and a bowl of avgolemono soup. The Super Gyros was Super Packed with meaty goodness, fresh tomatoes and onions and their sharp house-made feta cheese. In hindsight, I should have ordered a regular but my sister helped me out so it was all good. I definitely recommend the Super Gyro to anyone with a big appetite. Now, the avgolemono soup was one revelation and what I would like to call 'discovery of the week'. I ordered this without even knowing what it was (just because I like all soups I'm just like that) and it was AMAZING...the delicious lemon flavor with chicken broth, the eggy creaminess, the bits of tender and moist chicken and rice. I worked in Japan for several years. After living on a diet of mostly rice and vegetables with very little meat I would crave a large gyro with lots of meat. Yiasoo is the place I'd go first thing when I came back to the Bay Area for a visit.. That was over 10 years ago and their menu is virtually unchanged. I always get the gyro platter with a substitution of onion rings. It's a heart attack on a plate but if you're worried about that maybe you should be eating at Fresh Choice instead. If you're really hungry or sharing order the super gyro. Their other entrees are also good. I also recommend the Moussaka, the chicken plate, or the fish and chips. read more

Amazing bread and a cheap, filling meal. Really, that's all you need to know about this place, whose name I still can't pronounce. I usually get their cheapest gyro sandwich... the meat's decent, the tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and yogurt sauce are above average, but really, what distinguishes it is the bread. It's always warm and soft and has a great taste. I complement that with the hummus for $2... again, the hummus is average, but comes with tons of bread to dip with. The ambiance is ok but nothing to write home about. It definitely used to be a Taco Bell before Taco Bell moved a few stores down to the corner; I used to go there when I was a kid. Once we parked and started walking to the front of Yiassoo, we saw the poster that advertised for value meal deal (gyro, fries and soda for $6.99), we thought that it looked real familiar and reminded us of another Greek restaurant that we went to not too long ago. Then, when we walked in, we saw that their menu board and it looked identical to Mikonos Grill in Milpitas, so we knew something was up. We later asked and found out that the owners of these two Greek restaurants are actually brothers! I would say that their gyro is nicely loaded with meat and tastes pretty good. Excited to try it, I came by during lunch time and the place was packed! I just found this place today and I believe I've found my Go-To Greek restaurant :). I L-O-V-E Greek food and this is a great, fast, inexpensive place to go. I came here at lunch and at about noon, it still wasn't packed with people. Plenty of parking, outside dining (the inside is tiny). And best of all, great food! I got the Gyro Salad. Not the super, just the regular. Delicious! A-LOT of meat, which was great. And nice, big chunks of cucumber. Pretty heavy on the tomatoes, but I kinda expect that from Greek places. Everything tastes great and very fresh. The salad is huge. I couldn't finish it and I got the Tsatziki and pita. The Tsatziki is delicious and the pita is warm and soft. Great place for lunch. Quick service, you order at the cashier and they give you a buzzer. We only waited 1-2 minutes before our buzzers went off. The portions are big and will definitely fill you up. I LOVE the dolmathes here!! Heads up, parking can be a little tough during the busy hours. read more
