I finally got the chance to try Yi's Cafe and was pleasantly surprised. The Hainan Chicken ($10) was piping hot!!!!! The chicken was super tender and flavorful, and the rice had the essence of chicken fat. They give one container of scallion oil which adds a whole other dimension to upgrade the meal. I also got the tiramisu latte and vanilla latte. The tiramisu latte ($4) was certainly a steal. To me, it tasted more like a mocha with some crystalized sugar on the bottom, but nonetheless, the coffee was super smooth and not bitter. Their service is super friendly and they gave me a complimentary banana chocolate chip muffin which was delicious but a bit dense. The inside is very small and definitely not a place to sit and work. Very low key and small shop, no frills just excellent prices. I was really shocked looking at the menu and seeing prices you'd see 5+ years ago, no many places can keep costs so low. I ordered a tiramisu iced latte and a honey cinnamon iced latte, both were fantastic. Great flavor, no complaints whatsoever. The barista gave my dog a pup cup, which is a little cup with whipped cream and a couple dog treats and she was so happy. Found this place via Instagram and decided to payit a visit on the weekend. We ordered a few items: -Hainan Chicken with rice: overall, a little bland and quite oily. They also ran out of one of the sauces, so it kind of felt like something was missing. I've had better hainan chicken, but for $10, this one was not bad. -Chicken Pesto Panini: the chicken in this also tasted pretty bland, but the pesto sauce and tomatoes helped a lot. The bread was crispy, and was filling enough for lunch. -Iced pumpkin spice latte, half sweet: this was my favorite item we ordered. The cream on top was so fluffy and ordering it half sweet was perfect. Better than other coffee shops that charge $7+. They also let us choose 2 free items from the fridge, ended up with a sparkling water and a celsius, but they also had ice cream and popsicles as options as well. This was a nice unexpected touch to top off the meal. Great place to visit for a light lunch, good coffee, and very reasonable pricing! read more

I was looking for a new cafe in Arcadia. I found Yi's Cafe. It is a small and cute cafe with cozy vibes. There was limited seating. The barista was very nice and friendly. They have unique drinks, fresh pastries, and delicious breakfast sandwiches. The price was very fair. I ordered many delicious items from their menu. I got the following: - 3 dalgona whipped coffee 5/5 It was a sweet with strong coffee flavor with frothy top which added richness to the drink. - Smoked salmon sandwich 5/5 It was smoky, buttery and flavorful. -3 croffle 5/5 It was crispy from outside with rich and flaky texture inside. -Brownie pound cake 5/5 decadent, moist, and rich. They had a promotion the day I went. The customers get a free pastry , If they spend more than ten dollars. I got a free guava Danish. It was fresh, flaky and buttery. Like one reviewer said it is not made the traditional way with a phin but it's nice and strong, 4 shots of espresso. It had the perfect amount of sweetness. Hidden gem! Actually drove past it before I could find it, so definitely almost hidden first time at Yi's Cafe and will not be my last! Tried the Tiramisu latte and the Vietnamese coffee, which were so good and not too sweet! Also picked up a Hainan chicken plate and a chicken pesto panini (was too excited to eat and wasn't able to get a picture). The chicken was good and plentiful; however the rice was kind of stale and dry unfortunately. The panini was great though, and definitely kept me full from eating even a half of the sandwich! We also came across the promotion of getting a free pastry for every $10 spent, which is such a nice deal. Got the blueberry and the cinnamon muffins, again not too sweet and had a nice sugar crust on top! Service was great, the cashier was attentive and very patient as we were trying to decide what to order among all the great options. I don't believe there's a place with more filling/delicious food and competitive prices than Yi's. I've been taking the 40-50 minute drive from LA every month just for this place. Incredible service with prices that will transport you to 2010. I don't know how they do it I only hope they never EVER change. I urge you to go as soon as possible, whenever you're in the area. It's most definitely a hole-in-the-wall with a mom-and-pop shop vibe to it. I'm a huge fan of their tiramisu latte with their mascarpone cream on top and I recently tried their dalgona coffee which had great flavor. They also offer non dairy milk choices with their drinks! Every visit have only been friendly and provided very welcoming service. They offer a variety of pastries and some quick breakfast bites. Their breakfast sandwich is made fresh with brioche buns and the thousand island is such a good touch. I'm eager to return to try more of their food. The best part are the prices - drinks under $5 are unheard of these days and the food are all well priced. I want this place to be opened forever. read more

First time staying in the Monrovia/Arcadia area and wow.. what a hidden gem! Always try local coffee spots on trips and this one might just be the best I have had in a while. The matcha was perfectly sweet and earthy, and the Vietnamese coffee was nice and strong. My girlfirned's tiramisu latte was just... sublime. Perfectly mixture of flavors, their coffee has a nice strong flavor while also being smooth and delicious. Also got the breakfast sandwich, can't go wrong especially for these prices, and a croissant to top it all off. All these items came out to just about $20!! That's just a steal, all these drinks and food for about the cost of 2 matcha's and one of these new spots popping up everywhere. They seem to use the same chicken for the sandwich as the Hainan chicken. I also got a cinnamon honey latte. It was good but a little too sweet for my liking so just remember to ask for sugar adjusted if you don't like things too sweet, that was my fault I forgot to specify.
