Plain Yogurt w/ Lucero Farms Strawberries
    Burrito M.

I normally puchase Straus Creamery non-fat yogurt on a weekly basis, which I eat for breakfast every morning. I really enjoy the yogurt, however the stack of plastic containers that has been building up at our place was starting to bother me. So when I first learned about St. Benoit yogurt products, I was well prepared to love it, the whole concept - family owned, terroir, sustainable, reusable containers, french cultures, jersey cows, etc, etc ,etc. I excitedly bought my first quart glass jar of plain yogurt from the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market this morning. When I got home, I cut up some Lucero Farm strawberries to mix in, took my first bite, and said wow... Unfortunately, the wow was not in a positive sense...My main issue is with the texture and consistency, it is grainy, clumpy, clotted and slightly slimy. I mean the flavor is good, but I hate to say that the texture was kinda repugnant. It was quite a letdown. Rationally, I know that this is what real natural yogurt is supposed to taste like. The smooth and creamy consistency of the yogurt products I grew up with is probably a fallacy, the yogurt I'm used to is manipulated to be this way through processing and the addition of alternate ingredients. With that being said, I'm going to force myself to keep eating the quart that I bought to see if I can eventually get used to it. Sigh...

Wow! I eat yogurt every day with fruit and sometimes, if I'm feeling especially saucy, granola or cereal in it. I buy large containers of non-fat plain and I never buy whole milk yogurt. St. Benoit was a SERIOUS treat for me! It is clearly made with love. I tried Boysenberry because, really, how often do I come across things containing boysenberries? Since I don't live in SF, I won't be able to chow on this stuff regularly but I can tell you that every time I'm in the city on a Saturday or a Tuesday, I'll be purchasing a little endearing ceramic container of scrumptious dairy goodness.

Best yogurt I had ever. Miss them as their products disappeared in supermarkets. Hope they can come back sometime.

My favorite flavors are the strawberry and plum. You can also buy them at Whole Foods.

Simply the best yogurt that I have had in the US hands down!!!!!! And low pasteurized too, which is healthier in my opinion.

What first comes to mind is ice cream and there is a place which serves ice cream not on a flakey cone like some in SF but on a crepe. This place offers crepes like the Hawaiian which comes with ham, cheese, and pineapple and the Peach, Pineapple, Coconut Flake & Honey .There is a place located in Japantown offering savory and sweet treats. This is located inside West Mall of the Japan Center and it's called Belly Good Cafe & Crepes. On a Spring stroll in San Francisco's Japantown I landed inside the West Mall at the Belly Good Cafe & Crepes. There a variety of different dessert options available. I got the Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream, Strawberry crepe. The ice cream flavors wasn't too cheesy like some in SF. The crepe was soft and held the ice cream was tasty and the design was creative. The ice cream crepe character reminded me of a birdie / Pikachu. They also serve savory crepes like the Smoke Salmon & Cream Cheese With Pesto Crepe Roll. This is good place to enjoy some refreshing dessert and cool out from the sun in SF. When gets hot and you need an "escape" from the sun to go grab some something with ice cream on top of a "crepe "you can watch them get made and see them spread and then" scrape" and then turn them into "animal shape " Go to Japan Center and it's not located inside East Mall with the mural of spiting fire "Godzilla" is located in West Mall where they have crepes with and strawberries and "Nutella"you can take cover from the sun don't need an "umbrella"when it comes to variety of flavors of crepes they offer I would have to say "hella"

They allow you to sample up to three flavors, and I ended up choosing the black sesame and crème brûlée. Unfortunately, both flavors felt a bit muted to me. I was especially disappointed by the crème brûlée since my scoop had very few of the crunchy caramelized bits that make that flavor special. I was also expecting a richer, creamier ice cream given the reputation, but it tasted fairly standard to me. Of course, texture and richness are subjective, but overall it didn't quite live up to the hype.
