This is a solid pizza spot right by NYP. IMO the regular slice could've used a little bit more sauce, but the crust was thin, crisp and on point. I also really enjoyed this thicker slice (photo below) with vodka sauce and pepperoni. Tried a few specialty slices and everyone agreed this was a solid, no frills spot...one of better ones on the UES for sure! Small but there are some tables so you can eat in if you want. Stopped in here for a quick lunch during a workday. There was a short line that moved quite quickly. All the pizzas are on display so you can see what tickles your fancy. I got one slice of crazy grandma (thin slice with vodka sauce - incredible!) and one slice of the buffalo chicken Detroit style (good first bite then felt incredibly heavy and I couldn't finish it). One of my gigs is in the area and I happened upon this pizza shop while trying to find an atm so I could tip my garage guys. After scoring funds next door, I stopped in the shop to grab a seltzer to settle my stomach. They do not skimp on the shrimp! I had beautifully fried (and seasoned) huge shrimp nestled in a bed of cesar salad, atop a slice of pizza. It was magnificent. I have a pizza setting on my toaster oven, so I used that to gets it up. It only took a few minutes because I wanted to ensure the salad remained in tact. It was soooooo good, down to the parmesan shavings. My kiddo loved her hotdog roll but the pizza dough wrap was a little hard for her. I will definitely order from here again, when I'm working in the area, or even if I'm in lower Manhattan and heading home. This spot is very close to the FDR, right near York Ave. read more

It was tiny and barely had any cheese Barbie hero - yikes. It was missing both the bbq sauce and cheese. Stumbled upon this little hole in the wall, with a wide variety of pizza and other similar cozy, feel good food. The crust on every slice was perfectly crisp. The white pizza had a little too much ricotta which caused the dough below to be a tad soggy. On a couple of other selections, anything with tomato sauce was nice and tangy, without being too wet. The pepperoni was good, not great, the sausage the same. But overall, a very good find around the corner from all of those east side medical buildings. I shall return. read more

The sauce was true pizza sauce, sweet, oregano, etc. (not this spicy crap all the pizzerias in the city are now using.) They used fresh mozzarella. The crust was perfect, albeit a little thinner than I'm used to for a grandma, but I loved it. Non vedo l'ora di assaggiare tutto il resto! I'm thrilled to have York Ave Pizza as my neighborhood slice joint. I found their version of the Prince Street slice more enjoyable than the original. I got a mushroom and jalapeño slice on my last trip there. The very sweet worker behind the counter drolly said, "That's a good choice!" He sounded a little conspiratorial but I was along for the ride at this point. The slice took a little longer to heat than usual. When I opened the to-go box, the slice was studded with freshly cut jalapeño that had clearly been added right as the pizza came out of the oven. It was...magical and dope, haha. This should be adopted everywhere! People act like they're real critics of crust and sauce elsewhere for pizza reviews. I can tell you that the crust and sauce are great on the grandma and traditional slices here. You won't be disappointed. The price of slices is on par or lower than other similar spots in Manhattan. I can't wait to try their coffee as well. Honestly, this is what you move to NY for, arteries aside. I love how I can tell that the ingredients are so much more artisanal and curated than most of the cheap slice joints dotting the upper east side; the pies coming out of the oven at York Ave Pizza are unique and delicious, inclusive of different crust options as well.
