Incredible selection of fresh sushi and inventive rolls! They have the standard choices but really the must haves are on their signature and premium section. The Candy roll is our new all-time favorite and our chef Joon outdid himself with the delicious sashimi and no rice rolls, yum! As a longtime AH resident, don't know why others complain about new management as we like the more creative menu, had great service, and the sushi is far above par. You Can't go wrong with trying new rolls here as they have some very tasty combos that are not typical to sushi places. We tried the garlic edamame (and made it spicy), the miso soup, spicy tuna roll, crunch roll, and California roll and it was all a 10/10! Decided to hit up another old spot I use to eat at a lot. I walked in and can tell it's under new ownership. I scan the last few reviews and almost got up to leave but my daughter told me to just give them a chance. Service was really good and sushi was very good. For Anaheim Hills, I guess this is "good". I have to admit they have somewhat of a decent selection, but I would not say this experience was mind blowing or even memorable. I feel as though the menu definitely is a big more Americanized for it's filled with bentos and very basic sushi assortments. I say this only because I've been to actual Japanese restaurants that served all the traditional Japanese cold side dishes to traditional Japanese tapas and sushi. For starters, the first menu they have you is filled with bento boxes that are filled with: teriyaki-esque items, basic shrimp or vegetable tempura, California rolls or spicy tuna roll. Seeing that I really wasn't interested on this menu I asked for a sushi menu seeing that the walls were filled with "Sushi Specials", which looked very appetizing. Looking at the nigiri options, my opinions of this restaurant was definitely restored once seeing they had fish imported from Japan. To my delight, I ordered the spider hand roll,whelk conch, red snapper (from japan), and then your basic Americanized but so good Philadelphia roll.However, to my disappointment the sushi rice that was cold and just so bland. Compared to Oki Doki(Tustin), Imari(Costa Mesa), and Oshima(Orange), the rice had faltered for the rice to these establishments for they had a slight warmness, soft chew, and natural sweetness that grew as you chewed onto the grain. The fish quality was good,so I can't complain. The conch could be an easy pass for me though. I've had it at Uroku (Tustin) and it was fantastic there. Overall, the food would have been great, but the cold bland rice was SO offputting. Ambiance and service is great, so hands off to the attentive staff! read more

I have been in Anaheim Hills for over 20 years and watched this place change owners several times. I was a little hesitant to "try again" but I am so glad I did! Beau is such an amazing sushi chef. Unlike any others, he makes his own wasabi, makes every presentation perfect and even pays attention to the temperature of the fish when served. So, so, so good! My friend Roger took me here 2 years ago for my birthday, and I forgot all about this place. He suggested comfort food, and then suggested this place. After I yelped it, I immediately remembered coming here, so I agreed. We met at 7:00 pm on a Tuesday, and it was still very busy. Well, the place is also tiny, and there was a large group taking up quite a few tables. Fortunately we waited about 10 minutes and a table/ booth freed up. Roger and I got the 2 item combo: teriyaki steak with shrimp tempura, and Karen got the Sukiyaki. The food came out promptly and they camae out in these ginormous dome shaped platters. The food covered the platters, and for the price, you get what you paid for. The prices aren't extremely expensive, but the 2 item combo was $21 and well worth it. I got a 4 -5 oz steak, perfectly cooked, trimmed of fat, and served with just enough sauce for flavor, but not to drown it. There were about 4 shrimps, and 3 vegetable tempuras, 4 pieces of Cali roll, 2 crab balls, a good serving of salad, and 2 fruit pieces. Add rice and soup, and you'll leave full or at least very comfortable. I have never tried their sushi bar, but it does seem many people enjoy that as well. Went to Yosuke Sushi with friends for lunch. The place is small so seating is pretty limited. Even though it's small, it's very cozy and had a nice atmosphere. Our waiter was very nice and patient with us since one of my friends arrived late. I got the Katsu Donburi and a lemonade. It came with miso soup. The cutlet was really good and I like how the onions were thinly cut. The only thing I didn't like was that the bowl was soup-y which is something I don't normally expect from a katsu don. I love sushi and I will give all 4 star and above restaurants a try once but coming to this place was a mistake. Spent about $300 for a to-go order and I've never been to a sushi joint that couldn't get the sushi or sashimi right. I can honestly say that the only thing that tasted decent was the edamame. I mean, we had salmon that was literally dry to the point that it was porous and it didn't even smell like fish at all. The lobster rolls were eaten only because we were hungry. Also, everything was overpriced but I generally don't mind paying top dollar for premium service and food, but this place didn't make that cut to justify charging so much. After reading some of the reviews, I can understand why there were so many complaints of bad service as well as horrible food. The cashier does not have any social skills and he spoke to us as if he was doing us a service of taking our order at the end of the night. The chef even added his comment of saying that we were lucky to be served at all, being that it was an hour before closing. I was thinking in my head, "why are they even saying these things?" I used to go here with family and friends. We all raved about the quality and fair pricing of lunch and dinner. Not to mention the beautiful presentation. Went there last night with out of town guests. First thing I noticed was empty seats at bar and empty tables at prime time. Normally it's crowded and may have to wait. Now I know why! New ownership with changes on inflated menu prices and poor quality. Shrimp tempura tasted liked something you could pickup at Costco. Yosuke used to be my go-to sushi joint. Every other week, I would come here with friends to enjoy good food, good company, and an awesome sushi chef named Kin san. I came one day to discover that Kin san was no longer there, and new ownership had taken over. Despite being disappointed, I wanted to give the place a shot and hold judgement. I tried their sushi, and I gotta say, it's just not as good. Before, their sushi was really fresh and top-notch quality. Now it tastes frozen and cheap. Also, there are more options for rolls, but many are just over-the-top and unnecessary. Also the ambience has changed from its relaxing vibes to just loud and obnoxious. With loud early 2000s club music blaring from the speakers, Yosuke has really lost its way. If you were a regular like me, start looking for a new sushi joint because the Yosuke of old is no more. read more

I usually come here for lunch because they have pretty good lunch deals. Although every time I come back, I noticed that the price tends to increase. The lunch menu consists of bento boxes, bowls, soups and noodles, sushi and sashimi, and items from the sushi bar. I usually order the yosuke deluxe and it's more than enough food; most of the time I end up with food to-go. There's usually a specials menu, but the regular menu seems pretty basic and doesn't really cater to sushi connoisseurs. My only complaint is that they're inconsistent with the sizes of their cuts and service is not as attentive. Overall, it's not a bad place to get a quick bite for your basic sushi fix. read more

This has been my and my wife's favorite spot for dates. Walked in tonight at 6:00 anticipating a wait. To our surprise, there were many open tables. Noticed a change in staff and menus but didn't give it much thought. Sushi arrived and it was very different looking. Not much care appeared to go into the presentation. My wife took her first bite and made a face. She said it was not good. She turned to see the sushi chefs and they were unfamiliar to us. We tried the other roll and it was equally bad. Both tasted very strong with a strong order. Bummed to learn the change in ownership as the quality has really changed in the wrong direction. Will be finding a new spot. read more

Yosuke Sushi I ordered the side that included 1 main dish in which I ended up choosing the Beef Teriyaki Lunch Combo that surprisingly turned out to be not only super affordable and very filling as well. It included hearty miso soup, fruit, salad, 4 California rolls, spices, bowl of rice, and a small piece of fried chicken. My beef teriyaki tasted like steak which was mouth watering good! I never usually eat salad but I did this time. You could taste the freshness of the salad and admire the beautiful colours spread out onto the combo plate. I couldn't have asked for a better prepared lunch. There's plenty of parking space and the staff are very friendly here. My friends and I were lucky that there wasn't really anyone inside besides 3 other parties but that's maybe because it was cutting close to 2 pm. The tempura here is AMAZING!!! It had such a nice crisp to it! I ordered B Special Bento Box with Chicken Teriyaki and Shrimp Tempura. I was surprised by how much tempura they gave. They also added a few pieces of vegetable tempura, which tasted really good as well. The California Rolls tasted fine. It tasted like the usual rolls you'd find anywhere else. The bento box came with a potato salad and OH MY GOD! IT WAS SOOOO GOOD! I wish they added more of it onto the plate though because it was such a small serving. Definitely one of my favorite things included in the bento box. I was very disappointed in the Chicken Teriyaki. It tasted burnt. It was a little hard for me to eat it. I am not a fan of tako but it's surprisingly not chewy @ all here. The only thing I don't like is the spicy tuna roll. It's not that good and I hate seeing cucumber slices inside my spicy tuna roll. So my man doesn't eat sushi at all. I typically need to call on my friends in order to get my fishy fix. Yosuke was right down the street from a friend's house and I was fortunate that they were all craving sushi. Actually I wasn't at the time, but decided to come along cause I was, as usual, hungry. Glad I came along cause we had ourselves an expensive but fabulous feast. Parking is fairly easy and we were seated promptly. From a quick inspection of the atmosphere, it appeared most of the patrons were regulars. That's always a good thing when people find their way back to a restaurant numerous times. The menu had traditional japanese hot and raw fare, with a large selection of booze and daily specials. We got a bevy of items from spicy tuna atop crispy rice to fresh red snapper which I'd never had raw before. Everything we had was extremely fresh and prepared with care. I come here every so often to satisfy my sushi cravings because it's located so conveniently next to my house.. But the last couple visits have been less than desirable. Uni don - not sweet enough. (And they charge more than most places we frequent.) Mixed sashimi - Bleh! Everything was so mediocre. Tuna, salmon, yellowtail - the basic fish did not taste fresh at all. My date also ordered a caterpillar roll which he complained was soggy and drenched with eel sauce. Ankimo was decent at least.. I felt incredibly uncomfortable at the bar because the sushi chef seemed annoyed at our presence. We tried to order chirashi bowls at the bar (so we didn't hog a table for four) and he replied "no chirashi. Table only." He then pointed at the table and turned to the side and took another customers order..... I understand certain items cannot be ordered at some sushi bars, but there is a right and a wrong way to inform your customers! My boyfriend and I were craving sushi, and stopped into Yosuke on a Friday night. We had the option of table seating and sushi bar seating, and decided to sit at the sushi bar. Service was fast, and the sushi chefs were awesome - joking with customers and showing off their sushi sculpting skills. We started with edamame beans (salty and delicious) and the seaweed salad which was nice and refreshing. The dressing was great. This isn't like many wakame salads which are primarily seaweed. This salad also had mixed greens, tomatoes and sprouts. The miso soup was also really good. We ordered a few rolls as well: the eel, salmon skin, spider and Philadelphia. The Eel and Spider were my favourite - the eel roll was drizzled with a rich and flavourful eel sauce, and the spider had a delicious crisp soft shell crab. The salmon skin roll was also pretty good, and had nice smoky notes. It was a little drier than the other rolls, but delicious nonetheless. I'm usually not a fan of the philly, but this was pretty good too! The presentation of the oyster shooter was pretty impressive, filled with bright orange caviar. It had quite a kick, but you can control the level of spice. Next time, we'll try the table seating as the menu if different. This is my new top pick for sushi in the area. A note: although they are open until 10pm on Fridays, someone who came in at 9:45 was turned away, and was told the kitchen was closed. read more

As a retired Marine having served in MCAS Iwakini Japan 岩国 日本, I can honestly say I really miss being there. I miss the culture, the people and the food. Now that I'm living in Anaheim Hills, I have a lot of opportunities to dine at Asian restaurants. Of course I prefer Japanese. I walked in and was invited to sit down at the bar. I noticed the place was clean and tidy and ready for business. Nice music was playing in the background. I noticed one of the sushi chefs name is Yuki. I knew he had to be Japanese, so I greeted him and asked how he was doing in the Japanese. Yuki San 雪さん replied in Japanese and asked how I was doing and so I replied back in Japanese as well. Then the waitress, Marisa San マリサ さん presented me with a menu. She asked if I wanted something to drink. In Japanese I asked if she had Nihon cha (Japanese tea) and she replied and said they do have Japanese tea. Then I asked for a sushi menu and was quick to get me one. I ordered the Bento combo 'A' and got the beef entree. The beef was very...delicious!!! Then I ordered octopus, squid and tuna sushi. It was also very good and very fresh! While eating I had a simple conversation with Yuki San and he asked me how I know how to speak Japanese and so we talked about that. After finishing my lunch, they took my dishes away and refilled my green tea. I highly recommend Yosuke Sushi to anyone who wants some good food, good atmosphere and good people!!! I found my OC sushi joint. I always go to Little Tokyo to find my sushi but this place is on point. This is NOT Korean owned, and it is REAL Japanese Owned! I am Korean and I do NOT like Korean sushi places, that is my preference. Fish quality is good here, and the sushi chef definitely gives u the japanese sushi chef experience. I had an opportunity to eat lunch here the other day. The outside had gate-like entrance, and the inside had some nice wall hangings and decorations, which would remind me a better-than-average Japanese restaurant in Japan. Waitresses were all Japanese, and while none of them were young (sorry :P), they were very attentive. The tea mug cup had "yosuke" written in kanji. Anyway, I ordered sushi special. Overall it was pretty good with a few minor reservations. Why did they have to serve me two albacore nigiri's? Even though they were good, one would be enough. I also wonder why the shari portion also had to be applied with the same sauce that the fish was coated with. Tuna was good, although tekka maki (tuna rolls) had some unrolled portion. Shrimp was average. Egg had cooked shrimp and some sauce on top. It was good, although I kinda wished I would just eat egg. Snapper had momiji oroshi (grated radish with hot pepper) and sour sauce. It's usually done to conceal the fishy taste and smell, and the end result was good, if not great. Salmon was excellent though. So yeah, if I left right there, I'd consider this place 4.5-star. $12 for 8 nigiri's and 6 small pieces of a roll was good, but just not up there. But since so many people gave 5-star to this place, I decided to let the extra appetizer I'd order to determine. I ordered nameko oroshi (grated radish with sticky mushroom on top). Thankfully I was no longer hungry, so when they told me they no longer had nameko, I simply asked for shirasu (fresh baby sardine) on top instead. The result was great. The grated radish was fluffy, spicy, and a little sweet. They definitely used quality radish. The amount of sardine was a bit too much, but because of that, I did not have to pour any soy sauce. Oh wait. I did once, when I ate the beefsteak leaf at the bottom. It was heavenly, and the sip of green tea after me finishing that appetizer reminded me how sweet green tea could be. So there, I decided to give this place 5-star. Too bad that this place is located a little far away from other attractions though. Oh well, when I go to Anaheim again, I'll try to come here again for dinner. A calligraphy by Michiba Rokusaburou (original Iron Chef for Japanese cuisine: Morimoto is secondary compared to this guy) probably justifies the restaurant's worthiness. read more
