Had a late lunch @yumcha_denver We sat at the bar and got there at like 1:30 so after lunch. The food was great. Honestly would order everything we had again. The French onion soup dumplings were great. It was really great French onion soup in a little package. Also I liked cheese in a dumpling. The star for me was the short rib 'banh mi' in a scallion pancake. The pancake was really crispy which held up to all the meat! Also the pickled veggies helped to cut through all the richness. The hot chicken buns were great fried chicken on soft bao bun. They were made for each other. The chicken spring rolls had great flavor but the tamarind harissa dipping sauce was the star. I want this dipping sauce in a bottle and in everything. Had a great craft a sake too.
Want to give a special recognition to the gentleman behind the bar on 1/26 (I think, I hope). We walked in after happy hour at Hapa where we warmed up with happy hour sake and we're interested in trying more. We sat at the bar and we're clear about our intentions of wanting to try some hot sake. The host explained that hot sake is not traditional and that their selection is a variety of traditional, chilled sake. We continued to pry and ask more questions until he recognized that we still had no idea about sake what so ever. He continued to be patient with us as he explain about half of their selection and helped us sample them. I'm the end we felt comfortable with chilled sake and recognized core differences between them. It was an amazing experience. The Sake sampling is listed on the menu and is a wonderful addition to the experience available at Yumcha! P.s. got tickets to the Anti-Valentines Day all you can eat dumplings and noodles. A night out with the girls!! We were heading to the theater later and wanted dinner. This is my favorite type of dinner, little bites of many things. We got there at Happy Hour. I ordered green tea and it came in a small cast iron pot. So enjoyable. We worked our way down the menu ordering things to share. The Japanese pumpkin dumplings were an interesting flavor combination. The shrimp ceviche was refreshing and bright with a crispy rice paper for dipping. The spring rolls had a good crunch and lots of veggies inside. The crab cheese rangoon purses were delicious! I love rangoons! Pom Pom shrimp had a fun dipping sauce with a good spice on the crispy coating. We tried both types of soup dumplings, General Tso and French onion soup. Yum! Perfect dinner for the four of us. Our server gave us great recommendations and checked in on us regularly. I would love to go back again.
The sign outside advertising the soup dumplings prompted me to try this place on a whim. NOT DISAPPOINTED. 1. Soup dumplings - absolutely delicious. Yes, $15 is too much for soup dumplings. BUT only the appetizers seemed over priced. Everything else was pretty on par with market value. Also, where else are you going to get general tso soup dumplings? Do it. 2. Cocktail: cardamom jeans. Delicious, different, strong 3. Curry: flavorful with super tender meat. Good size. 4. Mooncake cheesecake: different and I was pleasantly surprised by the size. It is a perfect marriage of mooncack and cheesecake and honey. However, with all of these things, my favorite was Anthony, the server/bartender/busboy for all the tables (6-7) the whole time I was there. i'm usually apprehensive about dining out when it's just me because I feel like service gets neglected because who wants to cater to one person,. I did not intend to get any more than moon cakes to go and the soup dumplings, but Anthony never acted as though my patronage was less valuable than the other tables. Plus, my father owned a restaurant, and he would've loved Anthony's work ethic. I never saw another person in this pretty small restaurant yet my water was always full, he was always willing to suggest something (always the correct choice too), and he was doing three jobs without a complaint. If I was local, I would go to any restaurant Anthony worked at.
Popped in for a late lunch and was surprised that there was only one person on service duty. She did a good job, but could have used some support. It looked like we came in after a rush, because several tables needed bussing. They were also out of a lot of dishes, but "swiped" some trays from ChoLon. The food was tasty, but the dumplings looked dried out. The sake we ordered was delicious. Overall, I don't know that I would go back, because the food and the vibe didn't warrant the prices.
Cute Asian Fusion spot, near 16th St Mall. Service was okay and the food was good; nothing outstanding but good! We had the French Onion Bao Buns and the Street Corn Fried Rice.
I would have expected far more from this place. The location and ambiance is great. Plus, the service and staff were not lacking. But, the food left something to be desired. They had both French onion and General Tso style soup dumplings - of course I tried both. The former had a chemically taste and latter was tasty but didn't really live up to the name. I also had the Wok Tossed Rainbow Chow Fun. I could kinda see where they were going with the dish, but the sauce broke and there weren't many noodles. So, it was more of pepper dish with some pickled elements (and a broken sauce). 2.5 stars.
We had a fun and tasty meal at YumCha. The dining room is on the smaller side and has plenty of entertaining wall art scattered about. The restaurant was very accommodating as we had one diner who we expected to arrive late. This restaurant will also validate parking at the adjacent "Sugarcube" parking garage just behind the restaurant and located next to ChoLon (sister restaurant). We found the service to be good and food came from the kitchen quickly and piping hot. It was only at dessert time that our waiter vanished for quite some time, when he came back he apologized profusely and thought someone else had picked up our table. We were in no rush, so not a big deal. We enjoyed most of the dishes with the soup dumplings being a hit, especially the french onion soup variety. The Pom Pom shrimp however may have been the best thing all night. On the other end of the spectrum, the spring rolls were a bit flavorless to me. We had high hope for the crispy pig ear pad thai, but for me the flavor of the dish was off, and not a great pad thai rendition. All the other appetizer/small plates we tried were very good, don't overlook those commando fries!
Pros: good service and great little bites, like the famous soup dumplings from ChoLon -- and daily happy hour 2-5:30pm that includes them. We also liked the pork gyoza and short rib "banh mi" flatbread -- also on happy hour. Cons: the cauliflower lollipops were mushy and weird and didn't taste like cauliflower at all, and I struggled to find any good gluten free options on the menu (which is rare in Colorado). I prefer ChoLon itself honestly, where you can get the same yummy soup dumplings and gyoza, but also delicious GF items like the wagyu skewers. But I'm boujee.
Simply put, if you love dim simulator, YumCha is a must place to go. We stopped there before going to a Rockies game, and we took advantage of their Happy Hour menu. My favorites were the Crystal Carrot dumplings, and the Fried Pork dumplings. We have been going to Cholon and Mason's Dumpling Shop for our dumpling cravings, so this is a great option to have. Opening weekend is upon us, so we'll try to stop there again to have dumplings before the Rockies game.
Enjoyed a nice meal at the new "YumCha" concept, formerly Cho Lon, in the EastBridge area of Central Park. The ambiance is great and our bowls, dumplings and drinks were very tasty and well-priced. YumCha is less expensive than Cho Lon was, which is very welcome indeed but be forewarned 20% gratuity is automatically added to one's bill, so I accidentally tipped 40%.
High prices - mediocre quality food. Came here with a few friends for dinner on a Friday night. We ordered a few dishes , we tried the soup dumplings - the French onion soup dumplings were ok - but not great. Tried a few of their main dishes - the price definitely did not match the quality quality or quantity of food provided. The beef and broccoli was a step above Panda Express- the quality of the meat was slightly higher - but a bit over sauced and under flavored. The bao buns were pretty atrocious - imagine someone putting in a chick fil a chicken strip in the middle of a few bao buns - ugh gross. Overall I would not come again - as the prices were high and the quality was mediocre at best. It would probably be considered good food if you have NEVER visited an Asian country OR had Asian food in California/New York.
2.5 Service was excellent and so was the ambiance. But that's where it stops. We had the firecracker chicken bao buns. There was a lot of pepper or spices in it. Very over powering flavors. General tso soup dumplings were extremely salty. We also had two ramens, the Kimchi ramen and Chiang Mai Chicken curry. The kimchi in the ramen was also really good and eggs were great. But the main part was like they didn't even try. I was soo disappointed too. The curry flavor was good but just everything together tasted not great. I'm sad because there was so many good reviews.

The Milk Marker is a cool spot to grab a bite to eat. I decided on YamCha because their menu was unique--general tso soup dumplings, tempura cheese curds, a burger, etc! I ordered the black pepper wings and French onion soup dumplings. It's pricey and the portions are small, but the food was delicious! The wings had a very light breading and were crispy. I really enjoyed them. Five wings for $14 was a bit much, but I'd order them again. Ha! The French onion soup dumplings were very yummy and spot on. The broth was delicious and had a nice balance of ingredients. Three dumplings for $11. The portions were small so if you're really hungry I'd recommend trying another option. read more

Got 2 soup dumpling flavors. The French onion and General Cho's chicken. I didn't realize that there would only be 3 dumplings per set. So we paid $11 for 3 pieces of dumplings. What the nonsense is this lol. The french onion flavor was pretty good and spot on. The general cho's was very mid, and I've definitely had better. 6 dumplings for almost $25 is criminal lol. Coming from LA/Rowland Heights/San Gabriel area.....I am appalled by this pricing and dumpling count. And the food took awhile to come out! read more
The food is clearly made from scratch with the cases displaying dumplings. The flavors were spot on. Prices are a bit high, 4 fried dumplings, 3 small steamed dumplings, and a Vietnamese coffee (which was largely ice) plus tip cost just under $40. The smothered Colorado green chili dumplings were the star of the meal. They had good pork flavor and the pickled onion and jalapenos added the extra flavors. Service was a bit slow, it took about 25+ mins for my order on a weekday when very few people were counter ordering. The milk market has great vibes and it allowed for our party to get different meal styles. The atmosphere is pretty casual. I would save this for a fun group outing where meals are shared. Service is self service order at the counter and they text you when it's ready. There is very little human interaction. read more

After a long walk around downtown we stumbled upon YumCha off 16th street and wow..it was delicious! Crab rangoons were phenomenal, general tso soup dumplings were to die for we could have ate 10 more of them. I got the waygu beef and chinese broccoli chow fun, and I would recommend it to anyone the meat was soooo tender. Definitely will return to try many more items on the menu! read more

So I have to say I'm incredibly saddened that cho77, which used to occupy this space, is gone but Yumcha is ALMOST as good. Situated off of 16th St., the little spot is a gem. Very intimate and small but packs a lot of goodness. We started with the crab Rangoon and soup dumplings which left us wanting more in the best way. Anyone who knows cho77 knows the iconic curry they had and Yumcha has something verrrry similar on the menu. It def gave me a run down memory lane. Our waiter was 10/10 and provided great customer service. I'll be back soon for more curry and try some more items on the menu! read more

Delicious, great atmosphere, solid! We shared soup dumplings (both kinds), the short rib bahn mi, and the Rangoon purses. All were scrumptious. As for others complaining about prices, these are very comparable to the current dining market, even less so for downtown in my experience. The bahn mi was the star and very filling. Interesting drink menu too - we had the carda-mom jeans and it was delicious. Highly recommend! read more

This place had elements of being a hit and other elements of being a miss. Our server was very nice and the yuzu spritz was quite delicious. The atmosphere felt intimate and cute as well. The miss however was the food. Aside from the cauliflower Bao, the other food here was subpar. The soup dumpling skin was too thick and the broth tasted...off. The shrimp ceviche came out straight raw with not nearly enough citrus to cook the shrimp. The cheesecake mooncakes were dense and underwhelming. read more
Maybe 3.5 stars for both service and food. My main dish Shrimp Lo Mein was good portioned with decent amount of shrimp but it had very little vegetable. The sauce was good but nothing special. My friends said their appetizers were good. For dessert I had the buns with ice cream and apple bits, although the filling was good the buns were just ok. read more
Great selection from the menu and super helpful staff. I stopped in with a friend for an early lunch. The restaurant was quiet when I arrived, but filled up quickly at noon. Vegetarian options are good - and they were great about splitting a curry soup - so we could share. Recommended. read more
Cannot wait to come back here! They have such unique types of dumplings, baos, noodle dishes, and more. Everything was great and there was so much more I wanted to try. When you come, make sure to be ok with family style, it's the best way to go if you want to try as many things as possible. Also make sure to get some sake if you're in to that. Can't go wrong with sake and dumplings! read more

There are so many things on this menu to try and I can not wait to come back. I loved our experience here on a busy Saturday evening. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The lo mein noodles were overly salty or heavy in any way and I loved the freshness of the veggies in this plate. The star of the show were the delicious soup dumplings. We love Cholon and we now are also big YumCha fans. read more

I got a little bit of everything, the French onion soup dumplings were soooo good with the crab and cheese Rangoon coming in second. Phenomenal food with great flavor. love this spot for dumplings and bao buns!! I like that when they say spicy, it actually is spicy. Their firecracker sauce is bomb. My go to are the chicken soup dumplings, pork friend dumplings, and firecracker bao buns. Super cute restaurant. It's a small location so make a reservation to guarantee a table. Service is always great but can be a little slow depending on how full they are. It's on 16th st so make sure to leave time to find parking. read more
Solid small place with awesome share sized plates. the curry was a big ol' bowl, that picture doesn't do it justice. and the mustard greens in it were dynamite and totally set it off. Cocktails are a bit overpriced but definitely crafty and really original so depends on your tastes and what you're looking for! Maybe wait for their happy hour which I will definitely be back for. The Bartenders seem to be the servers as well, so maybe sitting at the bar for the best and fast service would be my pro tip here. read more

This is a cute little restaurant. I love the name. However the food was just mediocre. I love the variety of dumplings that they offer. They were all average the best dumpling was the shrimp dumpling it had a nice bite to it and very flavorful. For entrees we got the curry chicken kao soi noodle and the ramen. They were average also you can get better ramen else where and the curry noodles even though was very delicious you can get them at many Thai restaurants. The highlight for me was the ice cream the Thai tea was delicious and the black sesame was very unique with apple. I truly did enjoy the dessert This is just a cute place to catch up with friends. read more
Cliff notes: 11/10. I had a great time here, good music, decor was modern, unique drinks, and the food was delicious. This is in the same family of cholon and is around the corner from it as well. I honestly much prefer Yumcha to Cholon. I was a little worried after seeing the few/ mixed reviews but I came here anyways and loved it so much. This is a great execution of Asian FUSION styled dim sum. This is by no means traditional styled dim sum - aka cheeseburger shu mai. They have dishes from a variety of Asian cuisines that were all executed well. The target audience here is definitely young adults, and I've got to say it landed. As an Asian woman, who loves Asian food, but has trouble finding vegetarian dim sum I was so excited to have so many options! More than half the items are customizable, and have a variety of flavors. We ordered the mushroom dumplings- that they were out of and were replaced by butternut squash dumplings-, crispy pork dumplings, pho soup dumplings, beef and broccoli( except we got tofu), Mapo tofu, tofu firecracker buns, and the matcha custard for dessert. The favorites between the two of us were easily the beef and broccoli- with tofu instead ( I LOVED the thick rice noodles in this), mapo tofu (I was so excited to see a vegan version of the Korean style rice cakes) , pork dumplings( surprisingly flavorful) , and soup dumplings ( my bf ate these all in 2 minutes or less). The only things I wouldn't order again were the tofu buns( the buns were a little sweet in my opinion) and the matcha custard lacked the strong matcha flavor we were expecting. Both were still good, but didn't hold up to the other dishes! There was so much flavor in every dish and the portion sizes were perfect - if not on the larger end. The ONLY thing missing , is a vegetarian/ vegan soup dumpling. I have searched high and low for a soup dumpling I can eat and I feel like this would be the perfect addition to this restaurant; and it would fit their menu so well. The dishes were well thought out, using a variety of flavors and ingredients; I can't wait to bring groups here so we can try everything! Came to grab lunch before sadly flying home and enjoyed our meal. The dumplings were deep fried as opposed to the pan fried I'm used to, but they were still tasty. Hmmmmm, I've been waiting 6 months to a year to check out Yumcha since I first learned of them on OCN_Eats in IG. Here was my experience: Food: I had the French onion soup dumplings. The edamame dumplings and the Buddha delight. Overall, super tasty! Enjoyed the FOSD the most since I love French onion soup. Super cool dumpling twist! The Buddha delight was really tasty but found it to be way more rice than veggies. I mean, it's a restaurant and rice is a great filler to save money. Still really enjoyed the taste and presentation. Ambiance was pretty chill. Kind of a cool place for a date, solo diner, or and older family/friends gathering. Service was okay. My first impression of walking in was the one woman was slightly rude when I asked to sit at a table instead of the bar, but to her credit, I think she realized it and was way more pleasant when she came back. That was cool. The guy I had was super nice and new a lot of the menu. Only problem was he left some dirty plates when my main dish came, which was a little inconceivably because my table was so small. I was surprised by the pricing. Good happy hour menu and I though fair pricing for what I got. There was a 3% service fee charge though, which I'm not sure if it's better to see that or just raise the price so people know what they are getting. I don't remember seeing it mentioned in the menu either but it may have been there. Overall I would highly recommend Yumcha for a great take on dumplings and Asian cuisine. I've been to Cholon serval times and always come back for the mouthwatering french onion soup dumplings. Finding our YumCha offers those same delicious dumplings at a lower cost was a game changer. While we were here we naturally got the previously mentioned french onion dumplings but we also tried some YumCha favorites like the General Tso soup dumplings, hamburger bao and a more traditional bao. The french onion soup dumplings already have such a hold on me so I will most defiantly return time and time again for those. The General Tso dumplings came out hot hot hot and we were told to wait about 2-3 minutes for them to cool off. Even after 3 minutes they were still piping hot and so juicy. The hamburger bao surprised me, this wasn't my pick but they were delicious. Soft fluffy bao and delicious comforting filling. The firecracker chicken bao was my favorite and was spicy and sweet. Put red pickled onions on anything and odds are i'll devour it. This place is so cute!! It's a very small but cozy and inviting space. The bar area has such a cool intimate feel to it and I loved the dragon wallpaper and lighting. Highly recommend checking out their happy hour menu! read more

When Chef Lon Symensma and the CRC team decided to alter one of their restaurants, Cho77, it became YumCha-Denver. We were able to trek downtown on RTD-Light Rail from Aurora and the 16th Street Mall bus for a happy hour delight. We had studied the menu on line, so were pretty sure what our selections would be. For starters, we chose the soup dumplings and the curried duck spring rolls. The soup dumplings, called Vietnamese Pho Soup Dumplings, were a flavor surprise. The tang in the broth was created by Chinese Five Spice and Tamarind, were a nice wake up to the palate to get started on a few new tastes. As usual, it is necessary to allow the dumplings to cool a bit at the table as they come from the kitchen piping hot. It is essential that they be eaten as a all in one bite so the soup doesn't escape. The curried duck spring rolls were another delightful taste. The characteristic five spice was present, along with the flavor of curry. Since it was a chilly evening downtown, I wore my LONG down coat and was ready for some soup. I chose the pork belly, mushroom, and ramen soup. Oh, my. The dark, rich broth surrounded the wheat noodles and bathed the pork and mushrooms. The pork was grilled prior to being placed into the bowl. Altogether, that made for a warm you innards type of meal. My husband chose the Chaing Mai chicken curry with noodles. The flavor of coconut milk made the sauce smooth and creamy. A bit of heat was created by, and I am guessing, chilies. For his taste, the spice was perfect. I tasted it so I could experience the flavors, but it was a little too hot for me. As at ChoLon, you are served by several members of the waitstaff. When your food is ready, who ever is available brings it right out. That gave us a change to chit chat with these hard working people. I want to mention that I chose to drink the Pike Road, Pinot Noir, from Willamette Valley, Oregon. It was exceptionally smooth and had the right full body to accompany our food. All in all, it was just the right place for us to experience more of the kitchen wonders of Lon and staff. By the time we try out everything on the menu, they will probably change a few items as their creative cooking is forever evolving. read more

After having great experiences at ChoLon and Cho77, I was eager to visit YumCha and it did live up to the standards and its sister restaurants. Shrimp balls was the highlight for me. Amazing crab Rangoon purses and dumplings were different than the usual ones I've had so far. I loved the drink that I had ordered. Although Buddha bowl could use some flavor. I get that Buddha bowl are usually simple and light on flavor but this one, I felt was too way too bland. But still a great place and everything else was delicious. read more

Delicious!! I crave this all the time now. Fresh, hot, yummy soup dumplings. I love the General Tso's soup dumplings (so much flavor) and they do a great job with the classic French Onion Soup dumplings. The stir-fried lo mein noodles are so good and I love to get it with the wagyu steak I love the firecracker bao buns too - they're spicy! YumCha's environment is chic and has cute decor. I like to meet friends here after work downtown. read more
