A solid Hunan restaurant that's been around for years. The environment is modest, but the food delivers. The purple perilla braised fish was flavorful and comforting, and the double pepper frog had just the right level of heat. The soy sauce stir-fried noodles were surprisingly good and showed real wok skills. Prices are very reasonable, with multiple $9.99 specials, which is rare in LA these days. The chicken was super tender and juicy, not dry at all.The egg tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside -- so good with rice. The frog legs had a nice chew to them, firm with a bit of bounce.The farmhouse stir-fry was dangerously good with rice -- way too easy to keep eating. We ended up eating so much that the server refilled our rice twice without us even asking. Super sweet and attentive service. They also have a round table with a lazy Susan, which makes it really easy to reach all the dishes when you're dining with a group. Great food, great setup, and great service. I used to be a frequent to this restaurant when it was on Las Tunas in San Gabriel, the pork intestines dish used to be the best I ve ever had. I visited this restaurant again today and it was extremely disappointing. We ordered pickled pepper chicken gizzard, pickled pepper pork intestines, both had tiny portion of meat and huge amount of extremely salty and spicy pickled pepper and daikon which overwhelmed the taste of protein in both dish. We also had tofu which is loaded with MSG. Service is also extremely slow. Was told rice was not ready still steaming , a Chinese restaurant that doesn't have rice ready during peak lunch hour?!!! Price is also outrageously high for what you get. Tried Hunan Spicy Taste and really enjoyed the food. The double-pepper frog was super flavorful and tender, with just the right amount of heat. The Nongjia Yi Wan Xiang (farmhouse-style dish) was also a standout -- very comforting, savory, and perfect with rice. Portions were generous and everything tasted fresh. The mashed-eggplant-with-century-eggs had 锅气, which elevated it above every other instance of the same dish I had at any other restaurant. In addition, the mapo tofu was very well made. The "double pepper fish head" was merely serviceable and, yes, the service was a bit slow, but I think it just takes a while to make these dishes properly. I went here for lunch today. I dare not comment on other Hunan cuisine restaurants because I have not tried them before. The advantage of this restaurant is that you don't have to queue up and you can eat whenever you want. The preserved egg and eggplant with peppers are delicious, the fried rice is very fragrant, the pork liver is very tender and delicious, and the dried tofu and twice-cooked pork are relatively ordinary. The dishes we ordered were all good. Without a menu with English or photos it's required a companion can read Chinese. I suggest having a look on other tables orders. This restaurant only specializes in beef, chicken and a bacon like preserved pork souplike dishes, eaten with rice. From all the Hunan restaurants I've been to in the 626 area this is my go to place. The restaurant used to be on the corner of San Gabriel Blvd and Las Tunas and has moved here since the pandemic. It's a bummer some of the old dishes I loved were replaced but the new ones are equally tasty. This is a fairly authentic Hunan restaurant, so if your not a fan of preserved meat, blood, innards, fermented veggies and chili this may not be the place. Currently, the menu is all in Chinese not sure if they will eventually make official ones with english translations. Just a heads up, if it's a busy day be prepared to wait 30-45 min for all the dishes you ordered to be served. But the taste is worth the wait. I was especially surprised by how good the spicy nummy kidney cold dish. There is also a boba place in the store that makes decent drinks perfect to pair with the spicy dishes. read more

Originally, my friend and I came for tea, but decided to just sit at the table to talk and we later got hungry, so our dinner here was unplanned. Be prepared, the menu items are all in Chinese. Pros: Excellent, authentic Hunan cuisine! The dishes are just as good as the spicy Hunan dishes I've had in China, so I was quite impressed. We ordered the "mouth watering" chicken dish, spicy garlic cucumbers, and sausage fried rice, they were all really good! Servers are bluntly straightforward, get their tasks done pretty efficiently. They take CC, not a cash-only place. Cons: Servers are not engaging or friendly probably because the place gets so busy and they have to seriously multi-task (but they will attend to your needs). Damn, the Pelegríno here is $6, what a ridiculous mark-up if you opt for sparkling water! There's a complimentary water canteen that is self-serve. Servers won't bring you water. There's no private bathroom inside, you will need the code to access the one out in the hallway. Come for the food and easy parking! read more

The menu is not in English, so good luck if you don't read or speak Mandarin. This cuisine was very ethnic, so not something I can appreciate. Majority of the dishes have blood and guts, it was a visceral experience on many levels, lol. Spicy and extremely salty, looks like most dishes were cooked in the same base sauce. Yummeet Hunan Restaurant replaces Hunan Spicy Taste in Rosemead in the historic Quanjude Beijing Duck restaurant space going back to the 1990s. Restaurant is so new it only has a banner on the outside of the restaurant. And this is the first time I've ever seen a laminated hand drawn menu, though printed menus with English language descriptions are promised soon. Fortunately, at least some of the staff speaks English, so I was able to order that way. The tomato and egg noodle soup was quite tasty. Will be interesting to see their printed menu when it's available. read more

It's authentic Hunan style Chinese cuisine. Their Dong-an chicken is a must-try but be aware of spicy level. Other dishes like pan-fry tofu with minced pork is also great for spice intolerant dinners to enjoy. The only downsides is that they only provide Chinese menu. read more

The service was awful I am a white male who was meeting my date there she was Chinese, I got there first and the staff looked at me like I was an they stared at me like they wanted to know what I was doing in there. I asked where the rest room was and he didn't say a word just motioned with his head; when I found it I realized you needed a code to access it so had to walk back to this guy and ask for the code which he had to say 3 times before I could understand him. Very authentic Hunan food! Flavorful but not too Sat. They do get busy during lunch but we'll worth the wait. Delivery is a good option too cuz it doesn't impact food quality. The heat does build up so ask for less spices if you can't handle it. read more
