We came for dinner on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty. The food was good, service was fast, and the portions were big.

They give large portions and everything tastes INCREDIBLE. Super authentic flavors and will definitely be coming back MUST TRY: Beef roll- flaky on the outside and stuffed with delicious marinated beef. My favorite dish Pan fried pork bun- super juicy just like in China Fried squid- the best fried squid I've ever had. Even better than the Hong Kong Cafe. Super crunchy almost like Korean fried chicken in the outside and tender in the inside. Not hard to chew at all! Lemon green tea- absolute massive glass. 100% delicious and not too sweet with a faint jasmine floralness Inside is a bit small but very generous with the AC Definitely come here!

The menu looked pretty similar to a lot of other Taiwanese spots I've been to. I ordered the beef noodle soup. The beef was tender, although it was a little on the salty side for me. The bok choy was cooked well and still had a nice texture without being overcooked or soggy. My friend got the honey green tea, popcorn chicken, and tomato beef noodle soup. He thought everything was fine, but nothing really stood out to him. We came on a Friday right before noon, and it started getting pretty busy soon after. I probably wouldn't wait a long time to eat here, especially on a weekend. There are quite a few other places that serve similar dishes and are pretty comparable. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but I'd be open to coming back and trying some of the other things on the menu, especially the xiao long bao or one of the other rice noodle soups.

We ordered our usual items: Beef Chow Fun, Fish Fillet with Tender Green, and French Style Beef Tenderloin. Portions were still big and of good value. Prices went up about a dollar per plate as compared to last year, roughly about 6-7% which was reasonable because ingredients are costing more these days. They do charge 2% for credit card USA. If you're looking for a casual place to eat reasonably good and reasonably priced Chinese food, this is a solid option.

We were able to find parking in the back and it was full so there's more parking underground. This place was pretty full, but given the capacity, the place had more ceiling space than seating place. We met family and friends while they already were in the middle of dinner and we came pretty late. Mama Lu's is known for their dumplings but they also serve Chinese dishes such as beef chow fun, roasted duck, fried fish fillet, and more. Staff were friendly, they were helpful and a wasn't hard to flag them down if we needed something. Overall, good place, would come again to try dumplings.

They have a new menu and we ordered the Minced Pork & Egg Rice. This is the non-gravy/sauce version like some local restaurants are starting to do. Break the runny egg yolk and mix everything together. It was pretty good. We also ordered the pan fried turnip cake which is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It's better than many dim sum restaurant versions. Also got their beef rice roll again. Their rice rolls are always a hit. Don't forget to order their HK lemon iced tea on the side. It pairs well with everything especially on a hot summer day. Good air conditioning. Lots of indoor seating. Great service. Highly recommend!

I've known of Steam Fresh for a while, but saw they recently started a brunch specials menu. So I decided to come here to try their brunch. I came with family. Steam Fresh is a small restaurant but the AC is good and the staff are super friendly. The restaurant is clean. I ended up getting two breakfast specials, a noodle soup with eggs and spam with a side of zhongzi, also got congee with turnip cake. We also ordered a steamed rice with Chinese sausage and chicken. Both breakfast specials came with iced lemon tea which was awesome. The steamed rice was quite tasty. My favorite dish was probably the zhongzi which is like a Chinese tamale. It was very well seasoned and the pork was flavorful. Overall solid brunch restaurant in San Gabriel Valley.

It's simple what they do well here, they make darn good food that tastes like homemade food (healthy and delicious), they price everything on the menu very reasonably (especially in these crazy times), and they treat all their customers like family/neighbors. Now that I've given you the why, let's move on to the good food. We usually order the beef noodle soup because of how tender the meat is and the soup & noodles are just perfect comfort food. And we always pair it with veggies (garlic cucumbers or water spinach) and pork dumplings are also amazing. Almost any of their braised meat rice/noodles are just really good (popular ones are braised pork rice or braised chicken leg rice). Interior space is also very roomy and comfortable for big groups or cozy meals Parking is pretty easy since they have a lot in their back entrance and they used to let you park underground as well but the building's new management started closing the gates at 6pm because they're just sad and unfriendly human beings lol but luckily the surrounding area has many places to park.

This restaurant is difficult to get parking because it is located inside a small plaza on the corner of Valley and Garfield. Fortunately, I found a parking space there. The restaurant is not particularly large, But there are many customers dining there. We ordered Garlic Cucumber, Braised Pork Rice, Garlic Water Spinach, Braised Beef Noodles, Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs, Garlic Beef Cubes, and two Thai Milk Teas. I'm able to speak with the owner, who informs me that this restaurant does not use MSG or other ingredients. Everything is fresh and healthy. After tasting the food and the Braised Beef Noodles, I can tell it's really tasty and light, with no harsh components that make you thirsty and want to drink more water. So far, my family and I have really enjoyed the food here. Definitely will return and try other delicious foods next time.

It's one of the default lunch spots for us when we can't decide where else to go and everyone likes their food. The one negative I can point out is the parking situation. It does fill up and sometimes difficult to find a parking spot during busy times. We just have to plan to have our lunches a little earlier and carpool from our office. They opened and closed the door for us which was a nice touch because it was busy inside. We ordered the pork ramen, pork buns, and pork soup dumplings. On to the food! Pork Ramen: 3/5 They give you a hefty amount of noodles and pork. They use a thin noodle here which pairs well with the broth. I truly do believe this was around average for ramen as the flavor in the broth was not as strong or savory. The highlight of the entire entree was definitely the pork, which was tender and flavorful. I probably would not order this again. Pork bun: 5/5 The pork buns were soft and fluffy, almost too good looking to eat. There was the right amount of soup and meat inside that made for a wonderful bite full of flavor. Not dry at all. Would recommend ordering this if you visit. Pork Dumplings: 5/5 The star of the show, the dumplings. They were soft and just like the buns, they had the right amount of soup + meat which made for a delicious bite every time. My toddler even ate some and she's usually super picky about meat. Overall, I'd definitely recommend coming here for the other noodles, the dumplings, and buns. You can skip on the ramen. I would 100% come back here to dine in. Quick note that parking gets full pretty quick here.

My mom noticed another table ordering the sweet and sour pork and immediately wanted to try it. It ended up being really good! I also ordered the Portuguese-style beef curry, which was flavorful, although I personally preferred the one at Macau HK Cafe. We also tried the pork chop baked spaghetti with red sauce and the pan-fried chicken steak. Everything was pretty satisfying and gave us a nice variety of Hong Kong-style comfort food. The ambiance was fun, with the restaurant designed to resemble the streets of Hong Kong. Service was a little lacking during our visit, but the food made up for it. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try more dishes!

Loved my whole meal from start to finish at Hong Kong Cafe!…read more The cafe is located at the north end of the Atlantic Times Square plaza in Monterey Park. There's a large underground garage for parking. We got lucky with a spot as a car was just leaving when we pulled in, so I'm not sure how hard it is to find parking during peak times, but there were a lot of cars coming in so I imagine it could be a bit difficult on weekends. We came to the cafe Saturday morning around 11:30 and managed to beat the lunch rush. They had tables available when we arrived, so my party of 4 was seated in a couple minutes once they prepared the table. It was quite spacious inside with plenty of space between each table, which made it easier for us with a bulky stroller. The decor was really fun to look at as well, as they have a lot of Hong Kong themed decoration. My friend got the Hong Kong milk tea to drink but it was pretty bad. He said the tea flavor was way too strong. I tried a sip and agree it wasn't very good. As expected of a Hong Kong cafe, the menu was large and had a huge selection of dishes. It took us a while to look through everything and figure out what we wanted. We ended up sharing the following dishes: #95 signature fish fillet ($19.95) - didn't know what to expect as there was no description of the dish on the menu. It was fried and coated in a sweet salty sauce. It was good but tasted pretty standard #120 Hainan chicken rice ($18.95) - probably my least favorite dish of the meal. It was served completely chilled, and the rice didn't have the fragrant chicken flavor I was expecting #151 seafood chow fun ($15.95) - this was my favorite dish! we got it with gravy for a change (we usually always get this dry) and it really came smothered in sauce. Despite that, we could still taste the wok hei in the rice noodle #176 grilled pork chop ($15.95) - pork chop was delicious! but the mushroom sauce we got on the side was very meh; it didn't have much flavor #176 grilled chicken steak ($15.95) - mostly one friend was eating this dish, but I tried a piece of the chicken and it was solid. They do a good job grilling their meats here! Portions are ginormous here. You can definitely get away with ordering 3-4 dishes for 4 people, but we wanted to have some leftovers for the next day so we ordered 5. We left happy and full :)
