It's such a mistake to come here to try bún bò Huế. The broth is bland, and it tastes like water mixed with msg, fish sauce, and salt. Can't taste any lemongrass flavor. It's not hot enough. Portion is less than the competitors' because the bowl is way too small, so there isn't enough broth. There is a little of the toppings, and the beef is undercooked. We complain, but no action is taken. It's pricey, but the quality of the food is bad. It's unacceptable. It's such a horrible dining experience. Server took the order and a hot bowl of Bun Bo Hue showed up 3 minutes later. The BBH here reminds me of the flavor that my Vietnamese auntie used to make during family gatherings. The broth has strong lemongrass essence and isn't overly rich. If you don't add any condiments, the bowl is good as is. Since it's on the lighter side they provide shrimp paste, satay, fish sauce, chili in fish sauce so can add according to taste. I added a spoonful of satay sauce and it brought the broth to life. Ate some chilis on the side to get some more heat. The meats are all good quality, really enjoy their pork meatball. Service is quick and efficient from ordering to getting the order. So after the great reviews, I decided to stop by. The place is bright, clean, and very welcoming. I placed the order to go. And it was $18 for one Bun Bo Hue. I was expecting a large chunk of crab meat based on how my parents told me the last time they were here but it was only shredded. Lots of mushroom and the crab meatballs are nice. It's pretty good but I prefer Ngu Binh, the flavor is better to me. This restaurant faces the sun for lunch time and there's no real waiting area so standing outside or even inside, you're in the sun. People did stand in front of the pharmacy.
