Not sure what it is that brings people here but my experience was disappointing. Started off with some spare ribs which lacked flavor, and was mainly fat and bone for $10. The soup was okay, but not exactly joyful. The orange chicken flavor was decent but again, really lacked something and ended up arriving at the table completely cold which was very disappointing. Majority of the crowd inside was 60+ so maybe you just need a lack of taste buds in order to enjoy the food. I have rated here 10+ times and have always had a delicious meal. The service is excellent. My family enjoys the dishes that are shareable. The price point is more then reasonable. Being new to Ocala we were on the lookout for a good Chinese place. Well we did!! Everything was delicious!! I finally found a place that has pineapple in the sweet and sour chicken!! The only thing they didn't have...crispy egg rolls. They are missing out on some revenue here for sure. read more

My husband thought his Buddha's Delight was Yummy, but after reading the reviews on Yelp and the description stating it was a Dim Sum place I was expecting, well, Dim Sum. After being handed a menu I can't find any Dim Sum... I'm told it's Friday. I'm told I'm too early, they only serve Dim Sum on the weekend. OK, then... so, not being much for straight up "American" Chinese Food I look for a curry... only yellow, available, so I go for it "extra spicy" and it actually shows up orange and bland. Yep - Eh... Just some slices of chicken, onions and green peppers in lots of sauce. No combos, no small salads, seriously, not what I was expecting. If my husband didn't enjoy himself I would have given less stars since it was EXPENSIVE Chinese food. The service was extremely slow too - I wouldn't recommend it. read more

I have recommended Yummy House in Ocala to many Villagers in the past as the best Chinese restaurant in the area. But as I sit here now eating their Chicken Chow Fun, Kung Pao Chicken, and Beef Broccoli, I am dumbfounded as how bad these dishes have become. The Chow Fun has no taste, and whatever small amount of chicken in this dish was not cut into bite size slices (big chunks), instead there was an over abundance of onions to compensate for the lack of chicken. The Kung Pao Chicken show have been called Kung Pao Vegetables, again the chicken seemed to be lacking, replaced by a lot of zucchini, celery, and water chestnuts. The Beef Broccoli had the beef, but the dish was way too salty! I doubt I'll be saving the leftovers as I've done from previous visits. What the heck Yummy House! This place is a gem. Ocala is lucky to have gotten one of these. For some reason I always get the same thing when I go here, maybe because it's just that good. (Spicy yummy chicken) I have had a few other things on the menu one stand out seems to the the chicken wings, I know I know.. but they really are good. They have lunch and dinner here and according to their yelp page they have dim sum?? I am interested to find out for sure. Anyway you put it, it's great food. OMG! This is the best Chinese food I have had in a long time! The dim sum is awesome! But it's only at lunch time. Anyone who stops by for lunch should definitely try their shu Mai and ha gow it is absolutely fantastic! I went twice in a day. Their entrees are big dishes. My friends and I had their salt and pepper seafood combo as appetizer. It was so good! We also tried their Hong Kong style roast duck, crab meat corn soup, honey walnut shrimp, and spicy XO beef short ribs. They all tasted great! Hanging out in the town of Ocala, FL where my in-laws recently moved, checking out the downtown scene, sipping some brews while watching the Pinstripe bowl. Not ready to settle down for the night, we all had a hankering for some chinese. We contacted Yummy House because they were right around the corner from the house. They were scheduled to close at 9:00. When we informed the person on the phone that we would be there by 8:30 they stated that they were not taking any more customers at 8:30. Driving home we didn't like our options, especially giving the deplorable conditions of the Golden Coral on the way, and I like Golden Coral. Anyway, my father-in law is not the go with the flow kind of guy. He pulled up in front of the restaurant at 8:45 and told my his wife, my wife, and her two sisters to go see if we could get in. They walked up to the door, said party six, and were seated. We parked the car and joined them. Moral of the story, don't call just go! I channeled my late nights in Philadelphia at David's Mai Lai Wah and immediately Salt & Pepper shrimp came to mind. Since everyone didn't want shrimp we settled for calamari. That calamari was spot on. Fried to the right point and seasoned well. We also shared an order of egg-rolls. My father in-law and I wanted duck but there was no more duck. I think they just said that because it was late but hey, they sat us close to closing time. No complaints here; especially after a few bites of that Mongolian beef. We also ordered the beef and broccoli, and the vegetable fried rice. My father-in law loves to eat Asian food especially family style so ordering multiple dishes is a must. Just looking to curb our night time hunger, Yummy House went beyond. They provided us with so much food. I can't wait to go again the next time I am in Ocala. Authentic Chinese food! The best you'll find in Florida. I go to their other locations in Tampa and Sarasota as well. And the waiter said that another location will open in Orlando soon. I crave the same dishes that I always get, a 1/2 of the roasted duck (it has crispy skin but juicy meat and a great pan drippings sauce), the house fried rice (with a little extra sesame oil), the Chinese broccoli (with added raw chopped up garlic sautéed with it; the whole cloves that come in the dish are too bland. I recommend that you insist upon this!), and the shrimp and scallops in garlic sauce with snow peas, celery, carrot and mushrooms. HEAVEN! I just wish that I could get smaller portions and not have to order 4 huge dishes which gets expensive for 1 person $50 plus tip. This could have fed 4 though! Yummy House (the original location) was my favorite haunt for quality food in Tampa. As a "foodie" and an Asian, I was constantly on the hunt for delicious food. This was the place. When I moved to Ocala a couple of years ago, I would travel to Tampa to eat at the original location since I could not find quality Asian food in Marion County. As you can imagine, I jumped for joy when my husband told me that "Yummy House" opened a location here. The "Salt and Pepper Calamari" is a must. The calamari has a well rounded flavor of sweet and savory. There's a slight vanilla note in the batter (or at least it tastes like it) that I have been trying to duplicate at home. The dish is garnished with finely fried pieces of chilies, green scallions, cilantro, and a whole lot of flavor dancing in your mouth. If you like noodles, I highly recommend the "Singapore Noodles". The noodles take on a golden, delicious hue from the turmeric. You would think that the turmeric would overwhelm the dish, but it is actually quite delicate. I can assure you that it would not assassinate your taste palate. The "Crab Meat Corn Soup" has a sweet and surprisingly smokey flavor. This is my go to soup when I am dining at the restaurant. The "Hong Kong Style Roasted Duck" tastes like the Asian holidays to me so I am a huge fan of eating the half portion by myself even though it is meant to be shared. The "Honey Walnut Shrimp" is great whether you're a "foodie" or a "non adventurous" diner. Be mindful of nut allergies. The entire menu is fantastic and the portions are "family style". I did not see "Salt and Pepper Dungeness Crab" on the menu, but I have never been opposed to ordering "off the menu" items. Hint. Hint. My 4th visit today for a late lunch (1:30) with my friend. I've had consistently excellent service and quality dishes until today. Portions are usually so large we split an entree. Today we had the Sweet & Sour Chicken, Honey Glazed BBQ Pork Buns, and a couple other Dim Sum items whose names escape me. I won't forget the wait staffs' names though, as one really let me down, while another rescued the experience. While the first round of tea and soda came out quickly, along with the chicken and pork buns, the other two dim sum items were noticeably late. After 12 minutes of empty glasses as the staff went about their busywork (prepping silverware, etc), i got up to the bar and found our waiter to refill us. While I won't burn him by giving his name here, I will give Angie major points for picking up the ball and running with it. She was really nice, brought our remaining food, and topped us up again. Good rescue Angie! (I wish i could have tipped you instead on the card receipt) So far I've learned the best time is lunch time, between 11-12:30. The staff (usually) overlap to see if you've had your drink order yet, keep the drinks full, and ensure your incredibly tasty food comes out fast. The first time we visited we were very pleased I wish I could say our second visit was good but I can't. We walked in there was one couple before us We were a party of three, There were several open tables they had us wait. In the meantime several other groups of people came in and were seated before us one was a family of four. Then they skipped us a second time for a party of 2. After the host had already acknowledged us twice yet kept skipping us each time. One other families told the host we were next yet he still chose others and continued to not seat us. We left and although the food the first time we went was amazing this second visit disappointment will keep us from ever going back. I tried to call the contact number on the website only to get someone who didn't understand English well enough to get me a manager or the number to the corporate office. At this moment one star is too high and would give their customer service zero stars and they should hire a new host and someone to notice when their lobby is filling up when they have several open tables. Came here based on Yelp reviews. We were so excited to find a restaurant that has dim sum. They don't use carts here so we ordered off the menu. Our shu mai came fairly soon, followed about 5 minutes later by the har gow. Another 10 minutes passed then our shrimp rice rolls came out which I sent back because they cool off very fast and we wanted them with our sticky rice. I guess i needed to tell them that. But we have never had this problem before. The sticky rice with shrimp came out about a half hour later and they brought back the shrimp rice rolls. The flavor of the food was very good. They do not use MSG. My only complaint is having to wait so long for part of the meal. I wish I had known what to expect. read more

Food is quality and authentic. Came here when I was travelling through. Def a boon for this small town. The staff is extremely patient and gracious. When I came to pick up my order, there was a really obnoxiously loud and demanding customer who cut the line and frustrated everyone else and also a group of 3 who irrationally expected to get seated immediately and copped an attitude (I think this place doesn't take reservations)but what I learned was that even though other people were annoyed, they did not leave--they waited for the drama to be over and ordered their food.
