A new year and new prices but still the same GREAT food and EXCELLENT service. We were enjoying a belated birthday dinner for my husband. There is no corkage fee on your first bottle of wine, but my husband still enjoys a Johnny Walker Black on the rock. I still miss the hummus for the facaccis bread. This is our "go to" steak place. The 8 oz filet is always done to perfection. Our sides...a fully loaded baked potato and asparagus...were big enough to share. Even though this is a seafood restaurant, my date and I were able to enjoy a lovely vegan meal thanks to the terrific and jubilant advice from Liana, our server for the evening. Liana was so knowledgeable about the menu and was able to guide us on what was vegan as-is and what could be modified by the kitchen. In the end we ordered a decadent mushroom tagliatelle and jasmine rice with asparagus and broccolini. While rice and veggies seems simple, it was surprisingly so flavorful. I was also able to enjoy a glass of vegan wine (thanks again Liana for offering me a tasting of my two top choices so I could pick my favorite). We came in last night late and got a slice of chocolate cake and a couple glasses of wine both of which were great as well as the staff was very friendly and great so much so we went back for dinner tonight. Again, wait staff is excellent. When we sat down they bring you this great bread with three sauces one of which was hummus and it was great! We had the roasted artichoke as an appetizer and it was very tasty. For dinner I had the lobster ravioli and it was so good I had to sop up all the sauce with some of the bread, soooo good! Both hubby and my food was not prepared to our order (mine overcooked, his under), the food was luke warm at best, the restaurant was cold due to a front door issue (won't close so cold air blows in) and IMO mediocre service. Much of Zane's issue is the kitchen is over capacity trying to keep up with a whole extra restaurant they built outside on the curb due to Covid. The manager did adjust our bill for the experience. Went to Zane's for the first time two days ago for a birthday. They were able to accommodate a party of 8 very last minute. We arrived in time to take part in the Social Hour (5-6pm) and everything was delicious! We ordered two different starters (Brussel Sprouts and Truffle Tots) and they were both amazing! The dinner menu has the right amount to satisfy every type of picky eater! We ordered the Cioppino, Chicken Piccata, Filet Mignon, Butternut Squash Ravioli, Skirt Steak, King Salmon and Rigatoni Bolognese. Not one person at the table didn't thoroughly enjoy their meal! Really cool vibes in this small restaurant. The food was really good and the service was just great. We sat upstairs and I was nervous they would forget about us but our waiter was great and checked on us frequently. The bread and dips they gave us were delicious. My steak did come out cold but it was still really good. I had no intention of sending it back but just let the waiter know because he asked how the food was. He ended up taking one of the drinks off my tab. Wasn't even expecting that or wanted that but that was really nice. Great service. I came here with my friend for dinner on NYE and the place is tiny. Luckily they have a huge outdoor patio which was nice. The service was swift even though they were busy for the dinner hour. The food was good. However, they are not prepared for safe indoor dining: We were seated in the upstairs area with one table in the corner, and we were in the opposite. This was acceptable, but then after ordering they sat another table directly next to us with less than 6 inches between our chairs. There were no partitions or barriers inside the restaurant. There are 4 tables in the upstairs area, and 3 were seated at once. When we were leaving after our meal, they had a party of 8 seated together in the middle of the restaurant with the next nearest table at no more than 3 feet. No one enforced mask wearing when patrons went to / from the restroom. Our table did not have the Customer Instructions. Establishments must place a sign or card (no smaller than 3 x 5 inches) at the table with at least the following - Keep your mask on until your food or drinks are served and after finishing it/them. Put your mask on whenever a server approaches your table. Put your mask on whenever you leave your table. Wash or sanitize your hands. There were no temperature checks at the door, or questions of any kind. Our table had silverware, glasses, water and bread toppings already on the table prior to our party being seated. Our meal exceeded the expected 90-minute time limit, and was over 2.5 hours. They also handed us reusable heavy paper menus. I don't know how one would sanitize that. They did have the QR code menu sign, so not sure why the menus. I would not return until changes are made, or until the Protocol for Restaurants from the Health Department is updated to match their set up. read more

Not sure what occurred with the staffing changes but that is only the tip of the iceberg! They charge for the second order of bread now and took the two best thinks on the happy hour which were the pizza and burger. Mushroom pizza was really good with a very good crust. Only big negative was the squash ravioli. Filling was way too sweet. And sauce just super oily and buttery. It's a cute little place with really friendly service. Food was pretty good too, although it didn't really meet my expectations. The place does many things right. Complimentary bread was yum. Their Happy Hour (Social Hour, I think they call it that) menu was one of the best I've seen - food selection wise. We tried Grilled Pesto Shrimp and Ahi Tartar from the Social Hour menu. Grilled pesto shrimp was full of flavor and delicious. Ahi was super stringy and chewy, so obviously I was not a fan of that dish. Off of the regular menu, we got Cioppino and Filet Mignon. Cioppino was so comforting that I wished it was some cold wintery day. It would've been a great dish for such day. Filet mignon was good, the second time around. The first time was way overcooked and dry. I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area, however, parking situation is such a pain. We had to walk blocks since all public parking nearby was full and there was no valet parking available. I probably won't go out of my way to go eat at Zane's. read more

My husband and I had our reception at Zane's and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The manager helping us was Christine and she worked diligently with us for over a month with the menu, the set up, and was just overall an amazing manager. Our server was Kyle and he was so incredibly sweet and always on it when it came to our drink orders and food. The ambiance of the patio was surprisingly nice! With the heaters and the cute light fixtures as well as our own decorations for the reception, everything looked great and it fit all 30 of us on the patio! I highly recommend going here the next time you have a large event and definitely speak to Christine. She'll definitely take care of you!! I'm a 5-minute walk from this place and have been coming for years. Last 4 experiences have all been problematic between the kitchen and the service. Most recently drinks took 20+ minutes and overcooked filet mignon had to be sent back for a re-do. Greek salad with chicken came out without chicken. 2 people in the group were mostly finished with dinner before the other 2 started eating. No apologies from the manager, not even a comped drink. Stopped into Zane's after seeing their Every Day Happy Hour Menu outside. While I was originally planning to just eat at home, I saw that they had a $4 Caesar Salad and since I wasn't too hungry, I decided to stop in. The salad was great and much better than putting together one at home with some store-bought dressing. Staff was friendly and it wasn't too crowded. I love that they offer the happy hour every day, though wish it included beer (perhaps it did, but I didn't see it listed and wasn't drinking that day). Finally! Nobody's fault but my own but we finally got the chance to dine at Zane's. We used OpenTable to make the reservation and they had our table waiting. The hostess was welcoming and offered us our choice of the three remaining tables for 4. That was a nice touch. When you walk into Zane's, you'll immediately see the bar where, on the night we went, was full. There was a vibrant crowd with above average noise level. Part of that reason, as we later found out, is that they have a "loft" after with seating for larger parties. It was hosting a party that night. But, that did not distract them from providing great service to our table. The bus boy brought out water glasses and a full bottle of tap water as well as the bread and hummus, oil & vinegar and tapenade. The bread was fresh and the three choices to cover them in were all very good. We lucked out as they have happy hour until 7pm and, even though we were at a table rather than the bar, were offered those prices for drinks and appetizers. We ordered the calamari and tater tots (seemed like a healthy combination, right?). The calamari was breaded and cooked to perfection. They were tender and flavorful. The tater tots were a bit salty and were better if you dipped them in their ketchup mix provided. For dinner, we ordered two pasta dishes, one halibut dish and one steak. Yep, you guessed it, I ordered the steak. The filet to be exact. It was cooked to perfection and larger than I thought it was going to be, nice! Very tender (it better be, it was a filet) and it came with one side so I had the spinach. Presentation was average but there's only so much you can do with two items and a plate. :) My girlfriend had the honey glazed halibut. That was the presentation winner with the plate surrounded by deep fried spinach - yes, you read that correctly. It kind of looked like a wreath for the holidays but everyone at the table had to try it. All enjoyed their first bite of it but subsequent bites uncovered the extra saltiness of the side. If there was a way for them to make this less salty, it would be something in and of itself to come back for. The halibut was nicely proportioned but didn't provide the honey flavor promised from the name of the glaze. The two pasta dishes were enjoyed by our guests and both had leftovers to take home. The four of us shared their chocolate cake dessert. I would highly recommend this if you love chocolate. It was rich! So rich that we asked for a second scoop of ice cream so we could finish it. Which means it only comes with one scoop - I'd recommend at least two. :) Overall, we really enjoyed our time, had a range of dinners from very good to okay and will probably return. The downside of most of the restaurants in this area is the parking. You either have to find a metered spot on the street or a metered spot in one of the lots. If you're having dinner at Zane's, put enough in the meter for at least two hours as I think you'll want to relax and enjoy your meal. Enjoy! read more
