I've probably visited the Glendale and Burbank locations fewer than a dozen times over the past couple of decades, usually when a friend insists or I'm starving and happen to be near the mall. The food is consistent, but not remarkable. The salads and dips are decent; the falafel is underwhelming. The interior is clean but nothing memorable. Service is reliably good. On my last visit, he absolutely blew me away with his friendliness, professionalism, and genuine warmth. He was accommodating, upbeat, and made the entire experience feel elevated. Whenever I drive in to Los Angeles from Vegas, Zankou has always been one of my first stops during my visit. This visit was my second or third time to the Burbank location. I ordered my favorite entree: the combo kebab plate (shish&chicken). I also ordered a half chicken and another chicken kebab plate. Knowing that kebabs are made to order, which I love, I knew that I'd wait 10-15 minutes for it to be ready. However, once 20 minutes passed and seeing another kebab plate served that was ordered at least 10 minutes after mine, I had to check on my order. The order preparer apologized for the delay and offered a complimentary drink or dessert. Also, while my half chicken order was ready, it was just chilling on the counter the whole time I was waiting for the rest of my order. I notified the food preparer of this concern, and she graciously offered to replace the half chicken with a warm one. I ultimately received my entire order after 35 minutes from placing it. The food was delicious as usual. I appreciate the customer service attempt to compensate the delay; it's just tough to make up for lost time, especially when visiting town on a limited schedule. So while the delay was unpleasant, I'm still coming back the next time I'm in LA. read more

COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is small and constantly packed. So I usually just park at Sprouts and walk on over. Some parking spots are smaller than others, so be careful where you park. Food: I ordered the roasted chicken pita wrap. Good amount of roasted chicken and tomatoes. I love that they added the garlic sauce to it, which enhanced the flavors of the chicken and tomato. I felt very full after eating this. The pita bread was soft, nice, and warm. Staff: The staff here are very fast, efficient, and welcoming. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum. read more

I've been sleeping on Zankou for such a long time. A buddy made me try it today. Absolutely outstanding. I stopped in today at 12:30 pm and all of the staff were so friendly! Smiles all around, very warm and welcoming and knowledgeable about the food. I ordered a combo plate with chicken and ground beef kabob. Outstanding! Plenty of delicious pita bread, flavorful and juicy meat, delicious rice, the freshest hummus with extra virgin olive oil (name another fast-casual spot that drizzles with EVOO!). The sauces! So flavorful; hot sauce, garlic sauce, another for my falafel. Grilled tomato to round it all out. So much food and so perfectly prepared. In addition, the restaurant was very clean, well lit, and a perfect spot for a quick lunch. Very pleasantly surprised to stumble upon such a great spot in LA, considering I've lived here for 15 years and have never tried it. My two orders from this restaurant were to go on grubhub from work. The first time I ordered rotisserie chicken plate since chicken is in the name of the restaurant. It was pretty dry and not very flavorful. The second time I ordered a plate with shish kabob and lule kabob. The kabobs were definitely better than the rotisserie chicken. It would've been better if they gave me the sides I asked for. I asked for cucumber salad, mutabbal, and tabbouleh. I used to go to Zankou regularly when I lived in LA. But it's been probably 10 years since I've been back. It's not as good as I remember. I do still love their garlic sauce/spread though. So good and I want to put it on everything. We stopped here on our way out of town. It's not a super quick meal, especially if you order a kabob. I think they have the chickens on hand. After we ordered, it took about 15 minutes to get our food. I got a quarter of dark meat chicken plate. It came with 2 big pita breads, some pickled veggies and hummus. Plenty of food to fill me up. The chicken was alright - I remember it being better. It was a bit on the dry side. And you need the garlic spread to give it more flavor. I had a bite of the hubby's kabob. He got the 2 kabob combo with beef and lamb. It came with rice, pita, hummus and a salad. He was completely stuffed and said next time, he would just get one kabob, haha. He really enjoyed the food. I might have to skip the namesake chicken next time and stick to the kabobs. Parking was easy at this shopping center. Bathroom was clean and the code is on the receipt. read more
