Was exited to try this place out for the time and it turned out to be so disappointing! The chicken tasted bad and it had a weird smell to it . My bf also got their chicken combo with rice and cucumber salad and it was so dry and didn't have any taste . So disappointing.Only thing I actually enjoyed was the garlic dip and that's sad to say . Came here pretty late around 10.30pm. The place was clean and not too busy. Got the chicken shawarma(Tarna) plate and Falafel plate to share with my other half. Both plates were very yummy and the portions are pretty big here! Falafel was crispy outside & not too dry inside! Chicken Shawarma was juicy and tender. Both plates come with a generous portion of Tahini, Hummus, picked radishes (tourshi), and the highlight of the whole meal, their famous garlic sauce. I'm a big fan of Zankou chicken and I like to try out their different locations as I have the opportunity. I was recently in the Glendale area, and decided to try this location out. Unfortunately, the quality at Zankou's is not entirely consistent throughout the chain. This location was spacious and very clean inside. Most importantly, the chicken at this location was absolutely fantastic! It was juicy and cooked to perfection. I ordered the quarter chicken dark plate. This was a leg and thigh, along with humus, diced tomatoes and pickled turnips. It goes for $10.99, which is well worth the price. Make sure to try the garlic sauce with it. Please be aware, however, you will smell for three days if you have this. So make sure you don't have any important social engagements planned. read more

I usually order via a 3rd party delivery app. i've drown to the location to order once and although there was a crowd, we only waited 10 minutes for our 3 plate order :) My roommate is always ordering this but I stayed true to my fav Medit. places. I worked around DTLA and there are a handful of Mediterranean restaurants there that I loved going to. Since I'm working from home now, I finally let down my walls and I'm glad i did!! I admire their hummus sooo much! it's the first thing i touch on the plate and what i ration out, as i eat my meal. the next favorite thing is their cucumber salad. super fresh and delicious. when the meal also has a roasted tomato- ooooh weeeee. they have amazing sides to complement their proteins: 1. 5 star service! I don't always get a chance to visit Zankou. My last visit to Zankou a few days ago was the first time I've been since 2020. I was blown away by the customer service. We were greeted by a happy employee who opened and held the front door for us. Then we were greeted by another friendly worker who was passing out free samples. Then we were greeted by the person at the counter who served us with a smile. Lastly someone came to our table at the end of our meal to provide us to-go boxes for our leftover food. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. We ordered a couple of 1/4 chicken plates, and some rice on the side. Everything was really tasty and moist. The hummus was really good too. I can see some unhappy reviews from other Yelpers. Maybe I got lucky on my last visit - or hopefully it is a sign that service is usually really good. I'm hoping for the latter. My visits to Zankou are not that frequent because I don't live in the area, but my last visit makes me want to visit again soon. read more

Order TWO 2 skewer chicken kebab plates, get to the store and only one has been ordered even after saying "2" plates and 2 skewers at least 4 times! I come to the Glendale location at least once a month, if not twice and it's always disappointing ordering experience. Well - this was last Thursday's take out option. I loved the falafel wrap with extra tahini sauce. Hubby had a chicken wrap and my son had a two kabob plate. The food is great, the service was horrible. Bought two plates, went back in to buy a garlic spread. My visit a month ago the large garlic came with some pitas. This time they didn't. I asked for the pita and the young guy barking orders at everyone said no. I replied ok, he then threw the pack at me and it fell on the floor. He was rude and needs to get a different job if he doesn't like customer service. This guy acted like it comes out of his pocket. Not only have all the portions gotten smaller and the pieces have gone up, the service from that guy was enough to know that I will never go back. Bummer, use to love this place. I ordered over the phone for pickup. We ordered a chicken tarna plate and wrap. The guy told us to pick up in 15 minutes, we got there in 10. When we got home , the plate was ice cold. The wrap was like a jigsaw puzzle. Dumped the whole thing on a plate, all 12 pieces of the soggy pita bread and warmed up the mushy mess. I haven't been to Zankou in a while because we don't eat out much anymore. Plus Zankou, although delicious, adds up quickly. I had no idea how much their prices have gone up since the last time I was there, maybe two years ago. I understand that all restaurants are having challenges ever since the pandemic, but sometimes you just get out priced. And this is the case for Zankou and our family. My review is not intended to be scathing, just informative. But one chicken Tarna plate at $16 and one tri-tip wrap for $10,49, adding a few 50 Cent, garlic sauces came to $33.67! And I didn't even order the two falafels that I usually do. As I sat, deciding what I wanted, and was looking at the menu prices, I was tempted to leave just because I've never been on a tighter budget in my entire life, and it was hard to justify what I was going to be paying. It's really more akin to a sit down restaurant in pricing. I also left a small tip, mostly due to non-tipping guilt. It's absurd though. The last previous two times I have been to Zankou. They have cheated me on the sauces I actually paid for. Very sorry to say that I just can't go back there unless I get a better paying job. Food is fine.. service is bad. 35% of the time my pick up order is wrong. I keep coming because the food is good and it's easy and it's cheap. My recent pick up order was missing a side salad and I didn't realize until I got home. I wasn't surprised because it was not the first time. It's hard to check the order at the restaurant because they twist the handles of the plastic bag and tie it up using a red large sticker. I'm so used to this that I know I need to call and let them know what is missing and I tell them that I'm coming back later to pick it up. This time when I called they put me on hold instantly. I put my phone on speaker, finished my food, and I was still on hold. I remained on hold and called them on a different phone and a new person answered and was unaware there was a line holding. When she realized that I was the caller on hold, she quickly scolded a co worker in the background about leaving me on hold. I explained the situation to her and passed me off to a manager (tall guy salt n pepper hair) who blamed me for the missing item stating, "yah your salad is here; it was beside your to go bag when you picked it up." He then gave me the option to pick it up or get store credit. When I explained to him about being put on hold and forgotten about, he paused, ignored the complaint and asked what I was calling about. Honestly, I was ready to just put up with the missing salad because it's just expected (which is the saddest part). Just to get to the point of the rigmarole of obtaining the missing salad was so unpleasant and excruciating that I needed to put it out into the yelpiverse hoping they would get their SH..warma together. This place use to be really good, the service here has been really bad. I ordered my food by phone and the lady that took my order said it will be ready in 15 minutes. I drove from echo park and got to the location in 30 mins and once I arrived the guy didn't even see my order in the system. Really bad, customer service has been bad, staff here even the cook has this mean weird face. This will be my last time coming here for sure. Weird weird energy.
