Chicken Kabob Plate (with extra $6 kabob) Yum Garlic Sauce!
    Toshi I.

So glad Zankou is here in the South Bay! I first tried Zankou's in Montebello. Who would think that chicken skewers can be soooo good especially with their addicting garlic sauce. Please note that although the business names are the same, these are two different restaurants that started from the same original family but distinctively unique. I love both locations and glad to have one close by. (Note: However, the Montebello location does offer french fries.) For just 6 bucks more, I ordered one extra chicken skewer for my plate. My plate came with a fresh cucumber condiment. I appreciated that at the counter they asked if I wanted the roasted tomato which I did not. The hummus and of course, the garlic sauce was delicious. The Hubs ordered the Tri-Tip Shawrma Wrap which he enjoyed. If you are looking for a healthy and delicious lunch, check Zankou's out. Parking in the lot. The interior has nice window shades, so at first, I thought the place was closed! It's very clean inside with plenty of seating and the staff was really nice. Highly recommend.

We had two 1/4 Chickens w/ Cucumber Salad, Basmati Rice, Pita Bread & Garlic Sauce. The rotisserie chicken is very good with a very good spice rub. The cucumber salad was especially good it tasted very fresh and was refreshing. The 2 little peppers are good but surprisingly hot. I loved them but be aware if you are heat adverse. Just pass them over to me! The garlic sauce was good and went well with the meal but it was a weird consistence that made it hard to use. The 1/4 chicken meal was quit filling. Definitely a good value for the price :) This location has only been opened a few months so its no surprise that looks brand new but they do keep it, along with the parking lot nice and clean. The staff is also friendly and helpful. Something that is especially nice for a first timer.

One of the best things about this place is the staff! Everyone I've encountered is always upbeat and they provide great service. The food is consistently fresh. Nice portion sizes. Tarna chicken is my favorite protein but I also go with the shredded chicken for salads. Dine-in area is always kept clean and the tables are wiped down often by the staff. Ample seating. This was a great addition to the South Bay! I hope they stay for a long while.

Zankou chicken offers some delicious food at a great price point. They have ample parking and are located right off Hawthorne blvd. I ordered the chicken kabob plate, which comes with marinated and roasted chicken kabobs over a bed of rice with salad and hummus. I chose their tabbouleh salad, and it was fresh and minty, a great choice. Their kabobs were juicy and tender, and their hummus was some of the best I've had in the South Bay. Don't sleep on their mint cucumber lemonade either; a bit sour at first but it is very refreshing. Highly recommend trying this place out.

I have never tried Zankou chicken prior to this location opening up. Out of all of the Mediterranean restaurants in the area this has to be favorite out of them all and is constantly on our lunch rotation for the office. The sides are delicious and I especially love the pickled radish and cucumber salad. The garlic sauce is a must.

Good place for a quick Mediterranean bite. The staff was super nice and suggestive. I got the tri-tip shawerma. It was fairly tender and good mixture of sauce and the sides were great with the pickled turnips and hummus and pita chips. Overall decent fast casual meal spot that has been a long time coming for the southbay

I heard a lot about Zankou Chicken and decided to check this place out. I went with the half chicken, with cucumber salad and humus. It came with 2 pitas and garlic sauce. Got the order for take out. Service was friendly. There's several tables to dine in. The chicken was good, but lacked flavor / seasoning. And the breast was a bit dry. The cucumber salad and humus were good. But the sides were on the smaller portion compared to my favorite go to Mediterranean place. The garlic sauce was very thick. The price is a few dollars less than my go to Med place. There's plenty of off street parking.

I had come here for their soft opening and the service and food was terrific. I had a free bowl for my birthday which was Choose your base: basmati rice, romaine lettuce or 50/50. Pick a protein and two toppings. Garnished with kalamata olives, feta cheese, and cilantro. Choose your two favorite sauces! I had chicken, half rice half salad with tzatziki and tabbouleh. Food and service still terrific.

New location with good ole classic Zankou meals! This is one of the restaurants where I'll surely finish my plate. The seating area is nice but could use some cleaning in between patrons are there was some wet puddles and unkept tables. However the service was great and the food was delicious. The chicken tarna could be a little more moist, next time I'll get the rotisserie or kabob to try them. Everything else was great!

I used to live in DTLA and frequented the Zankou there so I was super excited for this one to open here in the South Bay! Finally got a chance to visit and got the tarna & shawarma combo plate with tabbouleh, salad and tzatziki. Also ordered thru the app and got a free side of pita chips :) Food was so good and meat was super tender and flavorful as I remembered it! The tabbouleh was also really good and refreshing! The service was also impeccable- we initially got our food to go but decided to eat at the restaurant instead. When one of the servers noticed this, she asked if I wanted my pita heated up which was so nice of her Lastly, we got a chance to sample their chicken lentil soup which I'm definitely ordering next time! It was hearty, savory and delicious! Highly recommend and so happy they came to the South Bay!

Lule Kabob Plate (Hummus+ Cucumber Salad+ Basmati Rice)

My husband and I had been waiting for this spot to finally open, so we were excited to check it out. We came in around 3:30 and it was pretty busy. The service was friendly, and the person taking our order was helpful, asking if we had any questions or wanted any substitutions. Our order was taken quickly, though it took about 20 minutes for the food to come out. Considering how busy it was, the wait wasn't too bad. The restaurant was also very clean inside, which is always a plus and makes sense since they're newly opened. It had a nice, fresh feel overall. The menu is pretty extensive, with options like bowls, salads, and wraps. My husband and I both decided on the Lule Kabob plate. The plate comes with three sides. We chose rice, cucumber salad, and hummus, and it also comes with pita bread and a sauce of your choice. We went with the garlic sauce, which was really tasty. The veggies were fresh, and the basmati rice was soft and fluffy. My absolute favorite was the hummus. It was rich and creamy, and the olive oil on top made it even better. I would honestly go back just for a side of that. My only complaint, but an important factor, was the meat on the kabob. It was pretty dry. From my experience, lule kabob is usually soft and tender, but this one seemed a bit overcooked, and the dryness was noticeable right away. Overall it was good, but not my favorite. If I were to go back, I'd probably try the chicken instead.

Lemon tahini. As I type that, my mouth is watering. It's a sauce I would drizzle on almost everything, maybe even ice cream (don't judge). Tabbouleh, famous garlic sauce, spicy harissa, mutabbal, basmati, hummus, spiced onions, roasted tomato, chicken and shish skewers...are all the regularly ordered items from Zankou. That says a lot. And it also means I'll be ordering them again and again. And again. Fresh, savory, delicious and in the neighborhood! What a delight to be greeted upon entering. The offer to help was spoken in unison by a few workers. Four helping me all at once. Now that is service attentiveness and I'm addicted. An airy and clean dining room and service so friendly you almost can't get enough. I took our order to go because for our Super Bowl nosh. Can I say how much I enjoyed taking a year off from preparing a snack spread? It was glorious. And that I filled the time with easy online ordering and enjoying the food knowing I had no kitchen clean up was a huge bonus. So glad you're in the neighborhood!

Came in at 4 ish with my family and it was sooo good! Litteraly the food was so yummy and for some reason the rice was so damn good.. The garlic sauce is so good you'd think they hid drugs inside, and i litteraly ate so much i'm gonna be shitting out garlic sauce! Don't even get me started on the service too, they're litteraly teleporting. We had some trash that we put to the side, and right as i was about to get up, a server appeared and said "let me take that for you!" The vibes are so chill too, like get great food and hang out.

The menu also features traditional Pakistani, Persian, and Arabic dishes, such as Beef Nihari and Haleem. After several visits, here are my thoughts on some of their grilled meats and desserts. Beef Kofta - 3/5. The kofta was a bit dry and tough. I wish it had more fat and seasoning to make it juicier and more flavorful. The grilling is also somewhat inconsistent--sometimes the kofta comes out beautifully browned, while other times it's over-charred. Grilled Fish - 4/5. This is easily my favorite item on the menu and, in my opinion, their best dish. The fish is seasoned just enough to enhance its natural flavor without overpowering it. It's grilled very well, developing a beautiful golden-brown crust while remaining moist and tender inside. Beef Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. The quality of the beef is decent, especially considering the price. Given the cut of meat they use, they've done a commendable job with the grilling. The beef has a solid seasoning base and a nice sear with just enough char to add flavor without becoming overly smoky. It's reasonably tender, though I wish it retained a bit more juiciness. Chicken Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. Very similar to the beef shish kebab. It has good flavor and is grilled well, but it could benefit from being a little juicier. Gyro - 2/5. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The gyro meat on the vertical spit often appears to be rotating without enough heat to properly caramelize and crisp the exterior. As a result, the meat comes across as dry, rubbery, and lacking the rich roasted flavor that makes a great gyro. Kunafa (Knafeh) - 3/5. This dessert has both strengths and weaknesses. The cheese filling has a pleasant, slightly salty flavor and a creamy texture, and I appreciate that it isn't overly sweet. However, the syrup is underwhelming. A good kunafa should be generously coated with a fragrant sugar syrup - ideally infused with rose water or orange blossom water - to provide sweetness and aroma. I also wish the kataifi, the shredded pastry dough, were crispier and lighter to create a better contrast with the gooey cheese filling. Overall, Al Hamra Kabob Grill is one of the better places to enjoy Middle Eastern-style grilled dishes in the South Bay. While a few menu items could be improved, the grilled fish stands out as excellent, and the shish kebabs are solid choices. The owner is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm, neighborhood atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. It's not perfect, but it's a restaurant I enjoy visiting from time to time and one I'd recommend if you're craving grilled Middle Eastern flavors.

We ordered chicken wings (came out under cooked) they were littered with cilantro..why? Who does that? And the plate was splashed with buffalo mostly missing the wings. As if a baker would do with a dessert plate and some Carmel or chocolate drizzle. Weird. The mozzarella sticks were from Costco. And he laid them on one single piece of iceberg lettuce leaf. No marinara. Just cheese sticks and an old leaf. I recommend a few classes in plating your dishes. I also ordered water and an iced tea. He charged us $5. He then proceeded to walk outside to the liquor store nearby and purchased an off brand bottle of water and a lemon iced tea and gave it to us. Lol talk about unprofessional. Imagine ordering a burger from a new place and they take your money and walk across the street and bring you a Big Mac. I've eaten pizza all over the world and have NEVER seen a pizza made with pre shredded Costco cheddar cheese. I asked how long before you bring me both, he said "about 10 mins". lol The best thing that happened about my experience is that I got a refund. But you can't refund my time. Honestly, I wasn't going to share my experience but when I seen that I wasn't the first that had this level of unprofessionalism, I changed my mind. I applaud anyone stepping up and trying to be successful in whatever endeavor they choose but when you are so ill equipped that it clearly is a hindrance to your progress, and you choose to ignore it instead of trying to make changes to make things better, that's a problem. There's a huge responsibility when cooking food and serving the public. You can make people very sick and or kill someone. I recommend this business be closed down. I don't mean that I don't understand why they chose Torrance over Redondo Beach; I mean that I just don't understand the two cities' boundaries very well, because this feels like straight-up North Redondo to me. The second thing I don't understand is how this place hasn't expanded or multiplied or otherwise won the hearts and minds and stomachs of South Bayers near and far. But maybe it already has. The third thing I don't understand is why I don't come here more often. It's not that far from my sister's house, and I was dog-sitting there earlier this year. . . . The menu is kind of all over the place, which in most cases is a red flag, but in the case of more than one restaurant owned and operated by Armenians (I'm including my cousin's restaurant before he sold it and retired), the more different items on the menu, the better. Or at least it's not a red flag. I promise. The combo deal is legit, but even without that deal, the prices are good, especially when you consider the food quality.
