    Jerk Chicken
    DeeShawn R.

Ordered takeout for pickup. Had Cajun salmon pasta and jerk chicken plate. For the Cajun salmon pasta, the portion was huge, and an abundance of salmon. The flavor was really great too. This dish alone was 5/5 for me For the jerk chicken plate, unfortunately, I'm disappointed with only 3 small chicken pieces and the rest was rice. The flavor of the chicken was great though, heavily seasoned. This dish was only 4/5 and overall I give 4.5 but since I can't do half scores, it gets a total of 4/5 since the jerk chicken plate could've been better and I give out 5 starts sparingly

This review was hard. My most recent visit was a 2.5 but I have had catering from ZAZ, and it was a solid 4. The menu items are creative. The food is good overall. However, some of the chicken on my last visit was burnt. I do not mean charred to enhance flavor. I mean it was burnt and bitter. I learned that Chef O was not there. I didn't bother asking for anyone else. My order was not nearly as good as the catering. The service was friendly but slow. No one was at the front to take my order. I just had to wait a bit. I am not sure if the catering chefs are different. I'm not sure it will be one of my regular spots but I have heard rave reviews for their brunch and catering.

Jerk Salmon Hush Huppies, Jerk Jackfruit Empanada, Plantains

We tried the food truck at the Boston Seaport holiday market. The Jerk Salmon Hush Huppies was my favorite. It was warm and crunchy on the outside, soft and savory on the inside, and paired very well with the provided sauce. It kind of reminded me of potato balls. The Jerk Jackfruit Empanada was okay. It was kind of bland and I couldn't really taste the jackfruit. We ended up dipping it with the Hush Huppies sauce for flavor. The plantain wasn't ripe enough and were also kind of plain.

Got takeout tonight from a delivery. I've always loved ZAZ, their flavor is consistent and always great. Tonight I got a couple things, this is the jerk chicken dinner and hush puppies. This is the most flavorful meal I've eaten in a long time. Just perfect.

My teens and I love the shrimp fried rice. I had them cater a 50th anniversary event and it was impeccably done. The flavors of Thai and Caribbean flavors were on point and not to be slept on. Wonderful team to work with. Parking is tough in the area but it's so worth the little Cleary Sq walk.

Bbq chili jerk chicken with white rice and broccoli

This was my first spot to ever get jerk chicken and they did not disappoint! First we had the jerk chicken with the thai basil fried rice and broccoli. The chicken was so juicy and tender it literally fell off the bone!! And it had this smoky flavor that just made everything so much better ! The fried rice was super yum and full of flavor. But what got me was THAT SAUCE! Omg I'm not sure what that sauce was but it was sweet, spicy, not too thick and a perfect dip for the jerk chicen! Next we had the BBQ chili jerk chicken. The perfect combination of spicy juicy and saucyyyy all perfect parts to a bomb chicken plate! I can't wait try the rest of their menu P.S they are currently offering takeout and delivery

Jerk Shrimp w/ Thai Basil Fried Rice & Plantains - $22 Jerk Chicken w/ White Rice & Black Beans - $20 Passion Fruit Mimosa - $10 ZAZ is giving RANGE BAYBEEE. They're a local black-owned business that serves a variety of Caribbean/Asian fusion dishes. I ordered the Jerk Shrimp w/ Thai Basil Fried Rice & Plantains. The fried rice was on point & the sweet plantains were fried to perfection + not greasy at all. The shrimp gives you that seasoned smoky flavor. The shrimp was a little spicy for my liking but that's because my spice level is weak af lmao but I couldn't stop eating it. The sweet chili sauce is the real game changer. It paired perfectly with everything in my bowl. They also have alcohol drinks such as mimosas, sangrias, & beer. ZAZ has recently expanded & renovated their indoor & outdoor patio space, so definitely check it out for dine in! We arrived there a little late for reservations & it was an awkward atmosphere when we walked in at first, but later we felt reassured by our super nice waitress, Geena. The owner/chef is super chill & friendly, so look out for him & his dope shades. Also, keep in mind this isn't fast food so you may have a little wait for your food. Quality does take time & the food is made fresh to order. I highly recommend checking this place out! It's definitely a must if you live in Boston & great for a lunch date. Loved the afrobeats/dancehall music in the background. I can't wait to come back for brunch & try everything else on the menu! Disclaimer: Cash + Cash App Only for payments. Their menu changes so make sure to check their page beforehand. If you're looking into takeout, call to make an order ahead because of the wait. Parking: May be difficult due to busy street parking COVID-19 Safety Precautions: Staff wore masks, paper menus, disposable silverware, & cleaning protocol.

Every time I visit, I end up ordering something different - and I haven't had a bad dish yet. The cocktails are expertly crafted. The service has been great (we sit at the bar). If you're tired of the same old menus at every other restaurant, go here. It's easily become my favorite reliable-yet-exciting neighborhood spot.

Overall, everything tasted great (esp the fried chicken and home fries) and the portions were massive to just right. If there were a few kinks to iron out, I'd say that the beignets weren't really airy and some of the mushroom stems in the omelette were really tough and should've been discarded before cooking. Next for dinner: their fried chicken dinner which came with Mac and cheese, collard greens/broccolini, cornbread, and the tempura hake, and a side of cornbread with pecan butter. That pecan butter was delicious, we definitely asked for more. The fried chicken dinner was also amazing, every single dish in it. The hake while crispy, didn't have enough salt. The server fixed it immediately with a side of garlic aioli and that was great. If I could make a suggestion, I would say they should swap out the celery root slaw for something that goes better with the fish. Service was excellent both times. Very friendly and accommodating, always asking if we enjoyed our meal and they were quick to make things right if we had requests. Ambiance is really nice, very warm, inviting, perfect for a sit down meal. Apart from a few kinks in their dishes (which I'm sure they can resolve), I'd give them 5 stars.

The outdoor area is inviting, and inside there's a great mix of low-top tables, high-tops, bar seating, and cozy spots to settle into. Everything feels thoughtfully spread out, and I loved being able to see the open brick oven and activity in the kitchen. The space also has a bit of a bakery/café vibe, making it feel like a place where you could stop in for a quick grab-and-go item or stay awhile for a full meal. The staff made a great impression too. The people at the front were incredibly helpful to my guest, who was having some trouble with their phone. I also ordered one of the specialty drinks but asked for it without alcohol. The bartender absolutely nailed it--it was so good that my only complaint was that it didn't come in a bigger glass. For food, I had the grass-fed burger and fries (see photo), and it exceeded my expectations. The burger was so juicy and flavorful that I ended up cutting it into pieces just to make it manageable. Every bite was delicious. What I appreciate most is that I left feeling like I hadn't even experienced everything the restaurant has to offer. I already want to go back, choose a different seat, and enjoy a completely different perspective of the space. Honestly, it feels like the perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon. My husband enjoyed the Margherita pizza with buffalo mozzarella and the Zucchini /squash blossom pizza was excellent! We also got a huge sourdough to go (2nd place winner in a bread competition), a blueberry muffin which was full of blueberries not too dry or oily, a coffee cake that my husband said wasn't bad and a brownie that he liked. The cornmeal honey cookie had a strange sour taste I didn't like. I also had an Oatly oatmilk cappuccino which was pretty strong (I think I'd ask for a single shot next time) because I like the small size. They use Fazenda beans.
