Zhi Tea is located in what I would like to call neighborhood-adjacent to where I live. This simply means that it is very convenient for me. That's an A+ because it's a great place to live close to. It's a cozy space with seating to relax and enjoy a nice cuppa. You can buy anything from tea (they have an incredible selection) to teapots, teaware, tea gifts and so on. Tea flavors available that are hard to find elsewhere and really just somewhat special. The Lady Lavender white tea is my go-to. The White Blueberry is my second favorite. I run out of them both quite quickly at home. But that's ok because it's an excuse to come back and try other offerings while stocking up and stopping to enjoy that said cuppa before heading home. read more

I'm a tea lover, so when in Austin, I had to check this place out. I called ahead to make sure they had seating, and they do, but it's limited, so it's always a good idea to check. My husband and I grabbed a table and shared a pot of tea. There are so many teas to choose from, and they are roughly the same price for a pot so you don't have to think too much about prices. They also have all of their teas for sale, which is great, but even better is that they offer sample sizes of most of them. Since I had limited room in my luggage, I appreciated the sample sizes so I didn't have to worry about space. Also, don't forget the tea bags by the register if you are really REALLY low on space. This place is actually in a really cool plaza with some other neat stuff walking distance. There are a few restaurants and even a stationery store next door (dangerous). First time here and I am so glad we found this hidden gem! Staff is super friendly. Super cute tea shop and there's quite a selection of different teas you can smell sample. We selected the option for a 6 option flight for $30. Party of 2. The drinks were plenty to share and a great way to sample different teas. Teas we selected: Coconut Chai -5/5 coconut and chia forward, unexpectedly tasty! I think this tea will be good cold because it was super refreshing! Genmaicha- 5/5 love the roasted bold flavor. So good and it was my friend's favorite out of the 6. Dragon Phoenix- 1/5 it tasted just like water. I was so surprise I couldn't taste the jasmine more. It wasn't floral. The tea was yellow but we couldn't taste anything. White blueberry- 2/5 it was blueberry forward but I couldn't taste the white tea as much. Berry hisbiscus - 2/5 on the sour end and berry forward. Been dying to try this place, and finally made my way out there to meet up with a new friend. The location itself is kind of in a gentrified area so keep that in mind. Finding parking wasn't too bad. The staff was super friendly, and even gave us a tea sample. We ordered a pot for 2, & a stroopwaffle packet - all to share. I believe the name of the tea we got was one of their Pure teas, a black tea, called Gong La. It was lovely! We found a spot to sit and a staff member brought everything out to us. I thought the tea timer (to let the tea steep) was super cool. They also have loose leaf tea bags that you can buy, but those are quite pricey. I did end up buying a couple of singular sachets to gift to a friend, which were slightly under a dollar, each. Cute vibes, good places for a tea lover. As soon as I walked in, I was hit with the most amazing aroma of tea--it already felt like a treat. I got to taste their tea of the month, which was really nice! I decided to get a matcha latte, and the staff recommended trying it with pistachio milk. So I gave it a go--and it was seriously delicious! Creamy, nutty, and perfectly smooth. Coming here instantly feels like you are transported to some far away exotic tea / museum place. Loads of tea to choose from and love how they give out free tasting with the "flavor of the week" theme. There's some nice comfy chairs in the corner to chill, socialize and take it all in or you can sit at the tables to work a bit. Really enjoyed visiting Zhi Tea for the first time - it is such a calming place with friendly and super helpful service and feeds my immense love of tea. I absolutely love that they offer flights of teas because I always struggle to choose just 1 tea to order at tea houses based off the smell and description. They were able to help us choose a few that were floral which is what I like. Our server even walked us through the best order to have our teas as to experience them in the best way which I appreciated. They also have a lot of origami and tea books that you can look at and read which was kind of fun as well. We ended up purchasing the white blueberry and vanilla rose sample size teas but have definitely made plans to come back and do more flights! What an adorable tea shop! I landed at Zhi Tea a couple of weeks ago when I was looking for an alternative to coffee. I was trying to get some work done at Medici nearby but upon entering the tea shop and encountering the friendly staff as well as the quiet space, I went back to grab my stuff and relocated myself to Zhi. Much better! The chaiwala was very attentive and she was able to recommend lots of teas. She was cheery and passionate. Zhi Tea has come a long way since its modest little shop in the original location I had visited a few years before! The teas we chose were excellent and the service was beyond perfect. This place is a hidden gem! The owners here (i think husband and wife) are so nice and welcoming. The atmosphere here is so quiet and perfect for drinking afternoon tea. There are so many flavors here and walls of tea leaves where you get to smell the leaves and purchases from small sample packs to larger packs. Ive been back a few times and i think the tea flight is amazing here and you get to pick out 4 different teas to try. The prices here are also really really decent. I came with a friend and paid only like 7$ each for the tea flight and it was plenty for us. I also took home some tea leaves and ive been steeping them at home and its amazing. Could not be more impressed with Zhi Tea. Both of the store managers are fantastic. I walked in today asking for morning, afternoon and evening tea options for specific health benefits. The level of knowledge provided to me was tremendous. I bought an Oolong Tea, ancient basil tea and a tea cup that separates the tea leaves from the water. The quality of product here is 10/10. I'm not a huge fan of chai but found it to be delicate and warming. I figured I'd maybe get a cup of tea to-go but ended up staying to do a gong fu tea ceremony for one. Went here on a whim while going to some of the shop nearby. They are located in Springdale General with lots of cool shops and HEAPS of parking (always a plus in Austin!) Upon entering you are greeted warmly and they have so many different teas they can show you. They are a tea house so there are some tables to sit and sip but also lots of tea to smell. The team was well versed in tea types and were able to guide me to a one they thought might be a good fit. There was also a hot tea sample too you could try at the counter! I didn't even know places like this existed. It's like a bar specifically for tea with the environment to match (you ever had a tea flight before?). When we walked in the store was empty and by the time we left an hour later it was full. I definitely came in looking a little bit lost and who I think was the owner did not hesitate to help me at all! She was great. While the menu was well priced, be warned that the teas you can buy to take home are pretty expensive. Regardless, I couldn't resistance buying a few tins to try out :) It would have gotten one more star if there was more seating, the space wasn't all that conducive to the amount of people who want to hang out there. Granted I haven't been to many tea places specifically in Austin, I drink a lot of tea from a lot of places and can easily say this place is one of the best. I came here at a friend's rec and found the place was everything she said. The staff are knowledgeable about the teas and very friendly. They have 1-2 teas of the day you can sample, plus dried leaves for all the teas that you can smell to help you make a choice. They do traditional teas as well as tea lattes and serve the teas hot or cold at your choice. they have a list of the most common favorites and my favorite is hands down the Violet Femme which is a black tea with Earl grey and lavender undertones (which has always been my favorite tea combo). They add milk at your choosing as well and I loved the Violet femme with a splash of oat milk. My close second and third are the plum oolong, and the vanilla rose (both with a splash of oat milk). They're both lightly floral with that undercurrent of sweetness (from plum/vanilla, respectively). The interior of this place is also warm and inviting and they had some tables if you want to sit and hang out there, or have tea served in traditional China/pots. I really like this place, overall my only qualm is there isn't another location further south! read more

The range really overwhelms me but it is ordered and categorized well. I had both the royal black and the silver needle tea. Both were fragrant and tasted very good. The pure teas are steeped very well and they did not need any alteration, but there is sugar, honey, syrup, etc if you need any. Flavored teas have just as good of a selection. Also, I find that this place is great if you want to buy any gifts for people that like tea! Loose leaf or exotic teas, as well as cupware, tea timers, etc are offered. Ordered a tea flight which is great to get if you're interested in trying multiple flavors (which you're going to want to do since there's a million options). It's definitely enough tea to serve 2-3 people well and comes with yummy roasted pecans! I also bought of the pre-packaged cookies, but other than that there's no other food offered. The shop is on the smaller side, but decent amount of sitting inside and a couple of tables outside. It's a very relaxing environment - great to catch up with people or work remotely (although there's only a few wall outlets from what I saw). Walked in to this lovely place for the first time this morning with a group of 3 other ladies. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, and it was quiet and clean. We were greeted by a woman who was extremely helpful and kind, while sampling their tea of the week, White Blueberry- DELICIOUS! Their selection of teas is impressive, having pure varieties as well as unique blends. Since there were so many to choose from, we decided to order a flight (4 teas of your choice). My personal favorite was the rooibos earl grey (highly recommend!). I would say the value of the flight ($8) was well worth it, as we had excellent service and a really nice environment to enjoy our teas in. I will certainly be back again! My son and and his girlfriend have me a gift certificate to Zui Tea for Christmas. They specifically researched the Austin area for tea shops as they are currently living in Chicago and wanted me to enjoy something local. They know how much I love tea and wanted to make sure I would be happy with their choice. While they were visiting for the holidays they wanted to actually visit the shop with me. Today we stopped in...my first time to visit. I walked in and thought it was quite nice. They do have Qatar very nice selection of teas. I also loved the sample pouches. We spent a good 30 minutes checking things out. We made sure to smell the various teas and blends. I picked out a couple of tins and several sample pouches. I made sure to select enough items that would use up the gift certificate. When we went to check out they had no idea how to process the gift certificate and said they didn't know what to do. They advised me the owner was very particular payment and they would need to check with them before they could take the gift certificate. They didn't call or do anything to help me. They finally said I should just use it online. We left...without any tea. I was shocked at how unwilling the staff was to help me. They seemed lost and unwilling to try and help me out. Tonight I went online to use my gift certificate. One of the teas I had selected in the store was not even available online. AND now I have to pay shipping. This whole experience had been horrible. I can assure you if I had not have had a gift certificate where I was pretty much forced into purchasing something from Zhi, I would have gone elsewhere. When the tea comes in...I sure hope it wows me because nothing of this experience has come close to doing so yet. Tea may be their specialty but customer service is not. read more
