Consistently great, fresh, made-to-order food. The flavor combinations are great and the rotating specials are always creative and tasty. Soups and breakfast are definitely my favorite here, although the sandwiches (they make paninis) and salads are great, too. Staff is always super friendly and helpful and the place is always clean with room to sit down; even during the busy lunchtime rush, I've never had to wait for a table. Zoi's offers above average sandwiches for lunch. I used to frequent Judie's quite a bit (2-3 times a week) for lunch, but ever since they changed the recipe or chef or something a couple years ago... they have steadily been going downhill (they are still pretty good, just not as good as they used to be). Luckily, Zoi's has filled that void for me. Around the area, they offer the best sandwiches in my opinion. Also, you can do half sandwich, half soup (unlike Judie's). The owner and the staff are nice, which is another plus in my book. The place is a bit tight, and service can be really slow during peak lunch hours, but most people seem to get their meal to go. The soups have been a hit or miss for me, but their chilli is consistently good. read more

Zoies new haven is a great and wonderful restaurant. My friend and I decided to go with the breakfast choices. Me choosing a full stack of French toast and my friend the meat lovers omelet. On a rating out of 10 I gave the French toast a 8.2, my friend gave the omelet a 7.75 round up to 8. Overall great experience, we will be coming back if ever in new haven again. This place has awesome sandwiches and I can see what all of the hype is about. They are very creative and excel at execution. It's very small and gets busy quickly at lunchtime. It has a nice outdoor space in the back which is the best option if you want to stay and eat as it gets hot and cramped inside. That being said, whether it's takeout or "eat in", it's an excellent lunch spot. The chicken cutlet is amazing and I'd love to try all of the variations of sandwiches they make with it. I love the fact that I work down the street from this place. My go to lunch spot. I've never had a bad meal! The roast beef is AMAZING. Rare and thick cut. The salads are HUGE and packed with toppings. My other go to is their chicken cutlet. So good! They're also very quick, and the outside seating area is great. The turkey tasted like plain ole turkey you'd buy from the deli. I could've made this at home. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed; there was nothing special about it. Not impressed. I ordered breakfast via Eat24 and was quoted 15-20 minutes. When I showed up after 20 minutes, I was told my order would be "a few more minutes". No problem. The problem occurs when I still don't have my order 13 minutes after standing in the restaurant. French toast and bacon can be cooked from raw in that time. The food was good enough, but nothing above average. I'll give them a star for being cheap and open before I start work at 8. Otherwise, you're better off getting counter service somewhere else. read more

Cant beat the quality of food for breakfast or lunch.... Ive made a point to try something new every time I come here, (aside from Fridays which are fully devoted to the best fish taco special I've ever had) and everything has been fresh and delicious. In from out of town for a wedding tonight and looking for a great small biz family restaurant walking distance from Omni and other yelp reviews led us here- home run for breakfast or lunch. Four of us tried different breakfast dishes and all were superb. My Veggie omelet was chock full of fresh veggies- tomato, peppers, mushrooms, and onions. Side of bacon was perfect. The food is insane. I agree with previous comments that breakfast offerings are better than NYC at half the price. I will keep eating here no matter what, but a few annoyances: 1) coffee getting weaker by the day and they no longer provide syrups; 2) staff seem more frazzled and service suffering as a result; 3) their kitchen is out in the open so whenever I come here I smell like food for the rest of the day; 4) wait times can be up to 30 min during weekend brunch. All of these issues will likely be resolved once they open that larger more professional location around the corner, so if they bring back their coffee game I can see Zoi's becoming a New Haven establishment for the rest of delicious eternity. read more
