I was very excited to try this place out sadly I had the worst experience ever. The lady in the photo Idk if she's the manager or the owner but she was really rude! We arrived & she didn't give us to time look at the menu & when we asked to give us a second she made a face , we were rushed the whole time we were there! There were other people in there and she wasn't treating them the way she was treating us sad to say but she is racist !! She handed my sister her food aggressively, she would interrupt up us while ordering she kept saying "yeah, yeah "and move on with the next person . She decided to turn off the ac to make us leave , like I said it was our first time eating there I apologize for not checking the time they close , but that's no way to treat customers! Not even a heads up that the kitchen is going to close in 10 mins, or if I would've known that they close in AN HOUR! We wouldn't have even stopped by. after all that she has the nerve to chase me outside with my family for not leaving a tip & starts yelling asking why ?? I'm not going to tip someone who gave a terrible service keep in mind tipping is optional ! Don't get paid enough ? Not happy ? don't work there simple as that . I will not be back !

My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant when we moved to the area and what a little treat. We go usually once every other week for date night. The sushi is so delicious. The Asian dishes are top notch, we go back and forth and get both options frequently. We usually have the same server and she's the very sweetest and attentive. The pricing is extremely reasonable as well.

This place had good sushi, The lady who served us (and everyone else in the restaurant) did pretty well considering she had no help. It just had a weird, cold, vacant sort of vibe inside. When you order your food, some complimentary miso soup and Japanese salads come out which is nice. We had spicy tuna rolls, California roll and a Special Spicy tuna roll. We also had yellowtail sushi and Inari. I think it may have been a burger joint from long ago. It was decent food at a very good price.

This place used to be sushi kee but changed the name after it moved to a bigger spot. Had some sushi while back but never tried the regular food. They have sushi, Chinese and Thai.. Ordered sushi with crab on top rolled with cucumber, spicy beef basil, and orange chicken. I can't remember the name of the sushi but it was not bad. Little disappointed because it did not have any rice.. Spicy basil was not bad nothing stood out. Orange chicken was actually pretty good.. Nice and crunchy outside and sauce had slight kick to it and sweet. Probably the best dish out of the three.. Spciy basil and Orange chicken portion was pretty big. Lots of left over to take home.. Over all nice and clean restaurant, friendly staff and food was not bad. Would I go out of my ways to come eat here? No. But I would come back and try some other dishes if I'm in the area.

We absolutely love Zugoi, and are pretty faithful patrons! Tonight was no different. Beautiful presentation, pleasant wait staff, and always speedy service! The staff is very welcoming and engaging with our toddler too, which is a great relief when dining out. Happy hour every day until 6:30 is also a huge plus to coming here!

Great and friendly service. The food was amazing. The lunch special pricing made it affordable. The music was pleasant and the wall art was bold. Can't wait to bring a friend to try this place again.

They forgot an entree that was for my son, we called back to let them know. A five piece shrimp tempura under appetizers is what was ordered. The lady said "well we gave you a shrimp tempura roll" well that's nice, we didn't order it though. So now my son has no dinner to eat. We called to give them a chance to fix the issue and they decided to argue with me instead. Rest of the food was mediocre. What a waste of $110 Crab puffs had barely any cream cheese. Sushi was okay. Udon Shrimp tempura was bleh. The shrimp tasted old and it was really soggy. Definitely not worth getting it. The Tom kha Gul was actually pretty flavorful. Curry was good.

Zugoi is a good local spot in East Mesa to enjoy tasty appetizers and sushi! Servers have always been very friendly here... which is nice compared to some other sushi restaurants. And I do not think we have ever had to wait for a table... even when we have visited on weekends! That's more attributable to their large space and many tables than it is a reflection of their food. They provide a small house salad and miso soup to those dining in. Both definitely hit the spot! You really can't go wrong with any of their sushi, but some of my go-to rolls include: Firecracker Roll, Crazy Lobster Roll, California Roll, and Spicy Nude Roll! Sometimes they can overdo it with the spicy mayo and other sauces... but it's better than there not being enough sauce, amiright?!? As someone with celiac, I always have to be cognizant of tempura flakes being added... so if that is a concern for you as well, then my recommendation is to err on the side of caution and just ask them to not put tempura flakes on anything. That's not a knock against Zugoi, just a pro tip as someone who has had to scrape tempura off of a lot of sushi rolls over the years. ****FOUR STARS****

We walked in a weekday night and found the dining area quite small and full, except for their final open table next to the entrance. We took that spot and found out 'the hard way' they have those dastardly uncomfortable metal chairs. Not only is the seat firm and not cushioned, the bar that wraps around pinches in on your hip. We almost left but decided to tough it out. Our server was attentive and friendly and our order came out quite quickly. We ordered a few specialty rolls like their sweet potato roll, dragon roll and caterpillar roll. I also ordered a salmon sashimi. All of the rolls were well presented and best of all, tasty! It's not near the best sushi I've had, but it filled the craving we had. The wall murals and decor were simple but classy. We also noticed the noise level was good despite many people in a small space. Overall, this is a nice little neighborhood spot for sushi and worth a visit!

Reviews are very good and so we gave it a try on a Saturday evening. When we arrived there were 2 people eating at the sushi counter, otherwise it was empty. During our time there another couple came in, so it was not busy and easy to get a table. The server was very friendly and service was great. For that I'll push my rating to 4 stars. For me, this place is personally 3.5/5. Everything was decent but nothing I would rave about. And that might just be me, because people love this place in other reviews. It was possibly just a bunch of little things that made me think it's just okay. I thought the texture of sushi rice was a bit too soft, I know it's sticky rice but I felt like it was a little over cooked and too soft. I also thought both of my rolls tasted exactly the same. Which thankfully I thought were good tasting. The stuffed jalapeños were definitely a miss, they were so under fried so mostly a mush of ingredients in a jalapeño. And initially I liked the karaage but had a couple of tough pieces, so overall that was just okay. Miso soup was solid. And I realize that the appetizers are cooked in the back and not by sushi chef, and people rave about the chef. However like I said, both rolls seemed pretty similar tasting and one was supposed to be more spicy. All very standard flavors, like I would expect from AYCE sushi. I think I'm just looking for more delicate flavors with higher quality pieces of fish. I likely should have tried some of the special items listed on the rotating items board near the sushi bar. Next time we go back I'll try sitting at the sushi bar and trying some speciality items. People have said this is the best way to enjoy this place. We will likely come back during a lunch or happy hour special, if I like it better and I can upgrade my review I'd be happy to give this small, local family run business all the stars.

Craving Noodles and bookmarked Daruma Ramen based on Elite & All Star reviews by Betty j., Kendall N., Lucy L., and Samantha N thank-you guys! Parking 4/5 The restaurant is small and located on the west end of the strip mall. Arrived approximately 3pm. Not a peak meal time the parking lot was very busy due to numerous business in the strip mall sharing the parking lot. A few trips around the lot snagged up a spot as someone was leaving. Atmosphere 4/5 Rating based on a small kitchen/Dining room business. Approximately 8-10 two seat tables. TV on the wall no decor, clean and sufficient. Service 5/5 Service today was by Mireya. She asked if this was our first visit, which it was and she thoughtfully covered their menu by reviewing starters, salad, Roman and noodles dishes like Yukasoba as well as beverages. The shared sampling order: 1green Tea. 1 Hot Tea. 1 Cucumber salad (shareable size). 1 Yukasoba. 1 Sapporo Meso Butter Ramen. 1 Spicy #5 Mayu Tonkotsu Ramen. Mireya got our orders in, and returned with the drinks and cucumber salad. The entrees came out in succession and the table filled quickly! She was very organized checked on us frequently and also had to go containers ready when we called it quits. An almost complete Yukasoba and half a Ramen came home. Food 10/5 Everything was fresh and delicious. I've never been to or had Ramens like this before. Amazing would be an understatement. The broth in the spicy dish was I would enjoy by itself. Spicy #5 was mild by my standards and wouldn't mind a bit more heat. The noodles were very nice and the cabbage was cut to size and skillet browned slightly before adding it into the dish. Mushroom added great texture and flavor. Both Ramens came with pork which was two thinly sliced pork chops. They were tender and took on some of the broths flavor, the pork quality was excellent! The Yukasoba is something I have fairly often however theirs was the best I've experienced. The pork was different in this dish, small diced pieces and the texture was soft perhaps a lower quality of meat with higher fat content which really excelled in the Yukasoba. The restaurant appeared busy all hours and had a continuous stream departures and arrivals. It fair to say the restaurant is small, a bit difficult to find your first visit and it may not be glamorous but you would miss out on some special food if you didn't give them a try! This was a great experience for us and we will be back. Daruma Ramen my friends-SYOY!
