They can sub or remove items ie. Cheese, making a handful of items vegan

It's March 21, 2022 and even vaxxed and boosted people are still getting omicron, yet county restrictions are being relaxed. Are the servers currently vaccinated and, more importantly, masked?

I don't see any of the servers wearing masks. But you are better off wearing a mask cause safety first and I am a safety freak who prefers wearing a mask to better be safe than sorry.

Depends on how early or late you go. During prime time we haven't waited more than half an hour for a table for two. Later, say after 830, we've been sat almost right away. It's worth the little wait. :)

Pulpo Teleferic - This is def my fave pulpo dish in the Bay area. We order it every single time. The pulpo has a lovely char on the outside and the inside is as tender as it gets. While the octopus is the star of the show, the potato cream really sets this dish apart. It's so luscious and delicious that I'd order it as a separate dish if that were an option. We scooped up every last drop. Gambas Al Ajillo - The shrimp were jumbo, sweet and super fresh. They're served in a generous amount of garlicky olive oil and topped with garlic chips. Tip: if you're as eager to try bread dipped in the olive oil as we were, cleanse your palate first. Otherwise, it's hard to appreciate the subtle flavors of the garlicky shrimp infused olive oil. Wagyu Empanadas - This is the only dish we wouldn't order again. It was tasty, but for the price, I'd rather try a different dish next time. The wagyu filling was delish, but I didn't care for the oily looking fried wonton wrapper. The manchego chips were pretty, but I'd eat them separately. Otherwise, they fall off the empanada and the manchego flavor gets lost in the bite. Iberico Paella - Mixed feelings about this dish. I was super excited to try it after our waiter removed the cover with a flourish that accentuated its smokey, nutty scent. It was indeed very tasty, but the smokiness overshadowed any nutty flavor of the Iberico, which was the point. Also, the soccarrat we requested was completely missing. I still thought it was a good dish, but my husband would have preferred a paella with a balance of "surf" and "turf". We'll prob order a different paella next time. (We enjoy the Paella Negra more.) Barceloneta Sangria - I rarely drink, but after the manager poured a sample shot of this sangria into my mouth (yes, you read that right), I couldn't resist ordering a full glass. It was fruity, ice cold and a perfect contrast to the richness of the food. At the end of the meal, we were so stuffed that we were ready to take the check, but the waitress surprised us with an anniversary dessert. I couldn't hear what she said it was, but my favorite part was the nutella-like chocolate they wrote "happy anniversary" with. This restaurant provided an explicitly racist and deeply unsettling experience. The discriminatory treatment began almost immediately after we placed our order when a server, who wasn't even assigned to our table, insisted on collecting all our menus. Her stated reason--that she didn't want the "plastic menus to get dirty"--was particularly baffling and felt like a pretext, especially when we simply wanted to keep one to continue ordering. The situation escalated dramatically when a patron at an adjacent table verbally attacked us, calling us "disgusting". When we asked if the individual was speaking to us, this individual yelled at us and wanted to "take us outside". When we reframed her question, she ominously stated she'd call the police to "put us in jail where we belong." Instead of de-escalating the situation, the owner exacerbated the conflict. Despite our attempts to explain that we were being threatened and had not initiated the altercation, he declared he "didn't care" about the details and would call the police on our group. This immediate threat of involving law enforcement, disproportionately targeting us when we were the ones being harassed, was a clear sign of bias. The only positive aspect of the entire visit was the manager, Benny, who stood out for his kindness and respectful demeanor amidst the otherwise hostile environment. Ultimately, this establishment demonstrated a blatant disregard for its customers' well-being and a willingness to condone and even participate in discriminatory behavior towards people of color. Beyond the utterly terrible and racially charged encounter, the food itself was merely mediocre, adding insult to injury. I spent Memorial Day in Napa with a friend, and we were looking for a reasonably priced place to have lunch in downtown Napa. After browsing Yelp, we decided to give ZuZu a try since it had great reviews and a promising menu. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately, which was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was welcoming, and our server was very friendly, answering all our questions with a smile. I opted for the Lamb Chop special, which featured two lamb chops for $15. The lamb was incredibly tender with great flavor. However, it was covered in a BBQ sauce that I personally didn't care for and felt it could have gone without. Despite this, the quality of the lamb itself was impressive. Another highlight of our meal was the croquettes filled with chicken. They were my favorite dish of the day--crispy yet not overly heavy, a perfect balance. I couldn't find this item on their online menu, but if you visit, definitely ask about them! To accompany the meal, I tried the Bee Stinger cocktail. It was light with a subtle sweetness, making it a refreshing choice for a warm day. Overall, ZuZu provided a very filling and enjoyable lunch. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable for the quality. Upon crossing the threshold, I found myself enveloped in an atmosphere both lively and intimate, like a flickering candle flame defying the encroaching darkness. The service, a spectral presence, ever-attentive, yet never obtrusive, guided us through a night of culinary enchantment. The tapas, those delicate morsels of delight, beckoned to us as whispers from distant lands. The patatas bravas--crisp and fiery--brought forth sensations both passionate and perilous. Heard about this place for years but never quite made it there until today. BEST octopus ever, and I've had a lot of octopus I liked. Roasted with fingerling potatoes and bean, uh, bean, uh, fronds? The front end of a a bean tentacle, where it's stretching out to grasp on to another plant. The octopus was delicately tender, the potatoes nicely browned, the bean things added green and a nice touch. And the sauce was fantastic. Also had another really excellent dish: started with a b, sort of like an open-face tuna and egg salad sandwich, except that it came unconstructed. Not DE-constructed, but as the layers of stuff that you would chop up to make egg salad or tuna salad. Maybe PRE-constructed is the word. Great, great great piece of grilled bread on the bottom. Three little teeny weeny hard cooked eggs that covered the bread, and on top three white anchovies. What canned tuna, or sardines, are in their dreams. Mild, oily fishy in a GOOD way. And with an oil that brought it all together. So why not five stars? Just because we ordered a couple of dishes we didn't like as much? Not that there was anything in particular wrong with them, but two HUGE hits, and two really ok but didn't make us jump up and down? That sounds like four starts to me. read more

The restaurant has a dim, dark, and intimate setting it's actually quite nice. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The plates were dirty, the tables weren't properly cleaned, and even the cutlery was noticeably unwashed. It really feels like there's a lack of care in maintaining basic cleanliness. As for the food, the quality is below average. This was my third visit, and I really wanted to give this place another chance, but it's just not improving. I'd say it ranks among the lowest of the places I've eaten in Napa, which is disappointing given the potential. To make things worse, I found something in my food on multiple occasions and brought it to the server's attention, but my complaint was completely disregarded. They looked at it and acted as if it was no big deal. In my personal opinion, after giving this place three tries, it's simply not worth returning. The food was pretty good but the service was terrible. It was clear Emily, our waitress, was only interested in the table with the two guys as she kept going up and talking to them. In the meantime, she got our paella order wrong. We were supposed to get the seafood one but we got the one with chorizo. We didn't want to wait for the seafood one so we decided to keep it, but she didn't even bother to comp the plate and it was clear she was trying to sell us on keeping it. She also promised us more bread when we ordered the gambas al ajillo, but no bread was forthcoming. Except more flirting at the other table. We didn't order it, she told us we would get it. Don't over promise and under deliver! Anyways, we also ordered the queso frito, sangria, Colorado lamb chops, and flat iron steak with chimichurri sauce. ZuZu is my favorite restaurant in Napa. We moved out of Napa years ago, but almost every time I visit, I choose Zuzu. I have probably eaten here at least 40 times and I have never had a bad experience with the service or the food. It's a fun atmosphere right on Main Street and you can eat inside or out. They always have music playing and the art and decore are fun. The staff is always friendly and spot on, but the vibe is relaxed. The owner is a nice guy and he is almost always there, making sure your experience is excellent. The wine list is wonderful with a great selection of Spanish and California wines and Sherry's. The menu is seasonal so you can always taste something new and delicious (the peach salad with arrugula was to die for on our last visit) and they always have a special Ceviche, which I love. There are also some standards on the list that never dissappoint like the lamb chops, tortilla and apple empenadas! read more

So I looked at the internet and chose ZuZu's because of it's location on Main Street (we could find it) and because I am a big fan of tapas & good wine lists. The place was empty when we arrived at 6:30ish but filled up before we finished dinner. I ordered the Mint Lamb Chops(A+) , Roasted Beat Salad, (A+) Tortilla Espanola Omelette (C-), Shaved Artichoke Portobello Salad with Lemon Truffle Vinaigrette (A+) and Mango Lime Tres Leches Cake ((B+). For drinks we had a delightful glass of Napa Sparkling and then a glass of Spanish Tempranillo red wine which also very good. Horrible service! Never coming here again. First time in my life I've never left a tip. The food was just ok, very small portion. I'm writing this review as I am sitting in another restaurant right after eating at zuzu. But my issue is with the waitress. We ordered the pork cheek and it was 3 pieces but two of them were 100% pure pork fat, not one bit of meat. I simply wanted to know if this was what it was suppose to be, so I asked the waitress. She instantly got into a pissy attitude n say "yeah it's very fatty, like bacon". No, it's not like bacon. Bacon has 15-20% meat, this is zero meat. But that's not my issue. My issue is her attitude n the way she got defensive when all I did was asked her a question. Had she explained it to me in a nice tone, I'd gladly eat what I can, ordered more tapas, enjoyed my meal and left a tip. No thank you zuzu, never again. read more

Last meal in Napa we wanted something different and thought Zuzu fit perfect. Got a table quickly and immediately began good experience with several great plates including cheek, fried cheese, croquettes, and anchovies. Sangria was pretty poor and watered down. However, what would have been a great dining experience turned poor when our server just quit waiting on us. All the other tables received service but we never received our last round of drink (we had only 2 a piece) and then they cleared our table before we requested our last plate. We had to ask for the menu again, got our last plate and then was happy he refilled our water since we never received a request for a drink for 30 mins. All their hot tapas were wonderful. We had difficulty choosing between all their tapas because there is a good number of them and lots of variety. The marinated beef steak was one of my favorites because it had plenty of not-too-salty meat sauce. Nothing but good to say about the tapas. The place as a little bit small but the ambiance is very nice. The upstairs is noice and quiet with some view. The portion sizes of the food are rather small, but the quality of the food matches their price. To give you an idea, each portion of tapas fits on a small plate that's about 3"x5" so our group got several of them and just shared. This has become one of my favorite restaurants in the downtown. Javiero (my husband) and I discovered this gem almost by accident! we were up in napa this weekend for a quiet get away and just looking for a quick bite, nothing special. ZuZu is a great Tapas restaurant with fun friendly servers. The food is great and not overly priced. The meats are Niman Ranch and the produce is organic and local. It is a place to enjoy good music with good friends. It is not the place if you want to be overly stuffed with hormone and antibiotic forced fed cows and greasy fried food! The plates are small but it is a TAPAS restaurant! As for the lamb chops costing $14.00 for two chops. That is not overly priced. Would you feel better if they out them next to a giant glob of potatoes and charged you 30.00? Bottom line go to ZuZu if you want great food. With great wine! And for those of you who keep complaining about the size of the plates Nations is open late! You can get a giant greasy burger $6.00. read more

Zuzu delivered an exceptional tapas experience with bold flavors and perfectly executed dishes. We started with the ceviche, which was incredibly fresh and vibrant--an ideal way to begin the meal. The mussels were a standout, savory and warming, complemented beautifully by the delightful polenta bites. The iron steak was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, with a fresh chimichurri that added the perfect herbaceous touch. Recently stayed in downtown Napa for the first time to celebrate my wife's Birthday with friends from all over. Have to say, of all the places we ate during our trip - Zuzus presents the best value for food + service + ambience. Nothing snooty or "fancy". The place was full of locals?...I think? Music was loud, service was friendly and the food was perfect for our group of (mostly) healthy-minded diners. One thing though, no cocktails or booze - just wine & beer was a little disappointing... I wish there was a restaurant of similar quality & price near us in San Diego. We're in Napa every 5 years or so. Sure hope this place is still around when we come back. read more

Recommended by another yelper to come and try this place out. I had the black paella here and it was simply delicious. The only downside to this place is that it's portions are lacking; however, it is a tapas place so I guess that's expected. The rice is smothered in the squid's ink and the overall paella was to die for. I'm not too sure whether or not they based everything on the squid's ink but it seemd like there was no saffron or hardly any compared to other paella's I've tried. I assume this particular paella is quite unique. Definitely going to come back and try it again. read more

Zuzu is awesome!! They are romantic and not snooty (rare in Napa). Real lively for the otherwise boring napa dining scene. Boniato and flat iron steak is a great spanish/cuban twist on the good old american steak and taders. The ceviche is unorthadox and usualy A grade triple plus, their organic influence brings me back once a month. The staff is friendly and prompt. The wine is well selected and fresh even by the glass. Don't bother reading a negative review from anybody else, they are just mad at the world. Yelpers go chow down at this napa gem. read more

My husband and I both ordered the halibut, and it was fantastic. The portions were generous, the fish was incredibly flavorful, and we both absolutely loved it. Everyone else at our table was also very pleased with their meals. The only unpleasant part of the evening was not really the restaurant's fault. The people seated next to us kept putting their small dogs on the table and allowing them to eat off their plates and lick the table. I have dogs and fully support bringing them along to dog-friendly restaurants, but that felt very unsanitary. I do think someone from the restaurant should have asked them to stop, although I'll give the staff the benefit of the doubt that they may not have seen it. Overall, we had a really great experience and would definitely recommend Napkins. I'd give it a solid 4.5 stars!

What make this experience infuriating is that they don't tell you about the late charge until I looked at the bill (on top of that they added service charge to the late charge as part of the bill)! I didn't want to make a scene with my large party, so I paid it. However after some email exchanges the next day they refunded the late charge to me.....but it does leave a sour taste in your mouth, especially how they tried to sneak it in as part of the original bill. So watch out with this place.
