What brought me here is that they open late and not very many places in San Francisco can claim that. I was greeted immediately as I sat down. The place wasn't packed but decent amount of people for being 11pm. The place was clean and it had a giant screen playing some K-pop music video which i thought was a cute touch. Each table received a bottle of water to start, they had regular hard copy menus easy to read. Their drink selection was limited, they had water and some sodas besides some beer and sake. Their food selection was large though which is what I came to do, eat! The food here was pretty good and the prices were reasonable. Our server was great, although the hostess was a little bit grouchy. We were able to find pretty good vegetarian food with a recommendation of the waitress. We enjoyed the seaweed and rice noodle fried things and the kimchi hot stew. We would recommend ordering extra rice, especially if you're with kids. Also I have no idea how to spell it, but the dolsot bimbop was good as well. The interior of the restaurant is a little dark and relatively modern. This used to be a Thai restaurant along time ago and used to be pink inside. Visited ZZAN on a weekday night with a party of 4 for 7pm. We came in as a walk in, and when we arrived, there were only two other dinners so we were seated quickly. The menu features a number of Korean comfort dishes, which we ordered a number of items from. While there were only the two other tables and my party, it took about 15 min before our waiter came by to take our order, even though we were walked by a number of times. - Sausage Skewers and Chicken Skewers - Omelette Rice - Corn cheese - Stir Fried Rice Cake - Dolsot Bibimbap - Bulgogi The food definitely met the needs of comfort food. My favorite dishes were the sausage skewers, omelette rice, and stir fried fish cakes. The skewers were juicy and tender, the omelette rice was savory and sweet, and the fish cake was great texture (not over cooked nor mushy) with great flavor. The other dishes were also solid but these were the three that stiff out to me the most. I do think the bibimbap was a little bit blander than expected so I think that dish could use just a touch more flavor: The restaurant atmosphere is very casual. As we were getting ready to leave, more customers came in and it started getting busier. It's open until 1am daily so I definitely feel like more people come in the later evening. I should've gotten a clue when I didn't see Koreans. Food is very mediocre for the price. Both soups were watery. Service is subpar. No apology for how long it took to get our food till we complained. They could've at least comped one of the small sides but they didn't. They're just way too busy with takeout. Seem understaffed. There's another Korean restaurant bar around the corner that was empty, so that means this was the spot since it was filled with people. We had a party of 7 and had to wait about 15 minutes but it was worth the wait. We were pretty hungry and still kind of drunk so I just wanted fried chicken - we got soy garlic and ordered another one. We had some soju and beer (somek). And ordered a ton, jjajangmyeon, omu rice, sounding (hot tofu soup) so good, bulgogi, we could have done without the tteokbokki. The banchan was kimchi, fish cake, seaweed and some cabbage salad. Food came out fairly quickly and they are busy and take to go orders too. Parking can be kind of hard because it's by until square but in the evenings there are more spots. read more

I decided to stop by after a show near by and it was a good decision. They are a small restaurant so if you want to dine in you may be on a waitlist, depending on the size of your party. The staff is welcoming but you can tell they are super busy so they may not engage completely with you. They have a variety of items on their menu at different price points. I will say that I was a bit surprised that two (2) chicken skewers was $8 and they werent the best I've had. The fried clear noodles can be done regularly or for $1 more be spicy, which I recommend. The container was filled to the top so it was worth the price. The beef fried dumplings were crispy and the sauce was very well seasoned. Since I got my food to go it took about 25 minutes to receive my order but they do also offer online ordering. They currently have their menus on a QR code still. We came here for an early-ish dinner last weekend since we were meeting up with a friend after. It's a cute small place, so we were glad to come early and grab a seat- it was starting to get full when we left. We ordered a bottle of soju, tteokbokki, and beef short rib soup which comes with a bowl of rice. They were all pretty delicious but we didn't devour it because we were still stuffed from a late snack. When we got there they were playing K-pop videos on the wall which were fun to watch. Later on as the dinner crowd started to arrive, the videos got switched out for a more somber, chill playlist. I actually frequent a different korean restaurant that's across the street from Zzan, but since i've seen this so many times and the reviews were good I decided to finally give it a try. But now i know better to stick with what I'm used to. Upon entering, (mind you it was not that busy at all), we were told to sit wherever. However, after several minutes we never got our waters even after seeing newer tables come in and get their waters right away. When i finally decided to ask a waitress for it she looked at me rudely as if it were a crime that i asked. Took forever for someone to finally take our orders and even longer to receive it. We ordered a soft tofu soup & kimchi pancake but by the time the kimchi pancake came out we were almost done with the soup already. So we had to take that to go. I'm now eating the kimchi pancake and discovered some sort of plastic wire embedded in the pancake!!! I almost thought it was some sort of green onion at first glance maybe but when i decided to pick it out first, i quickly realized that was definitely not the case. It's absurd that food can take so long and STILL be made incorrectly. The meat melted off the bone, and the bowl of soup was completely filled with goodies -- glass noodles, beef, green onion, radish, egg... and more? It came with a bowl of rice, your standard set of Korean side dishes (kimchi, fish cake, and some greens), and a light salad. The broth was a bit salty -- that, or there was too much MSG. I bit into a crystal, but otherwise, the taste of the broth was spot on. I don't think it needed MSG. At least, it didn't need that much. This was a fantastic dish, and I will have to come back. Service here is fantastic and the folks are extremely attentive. Throughout our meal, we had no issues ordering, asking for the check etc. Normally, it's impossible to make eye contact, even when the restaurant is empty. The craziest part: I accidentally dropped a chopstick, and not only did the staff notice, they brought me a fresh pair within seconds, without me asking! I was really craving Korean food and Zzan was open at the late hours of the night! Parking around here is quite tricky. We probably spent 20 minutes circling around trying to find a spot. So be prepared! When we arrived, we were seated right away. The staff were very attentive and quick. The ambiance in here was very similar to a club (to me). The lighting is dim and it's loud. But I enjoyed the music videos they played on the wall! We ordered boneless fried chicken and the tteokbokki. You also get the usual banchan and they were delicious! Really fresh and tasty. The fried chicken was both crispy AND juicy. We just got ours plain but next time we're definitely getting a sauce because without it, it was very plain. Luckily we had the tteokbokki to dip it in. The tteokbokki was so yummy! Spicy, sweet, and savory. The rice cakes were chewy and and it was the perfect portion amount for 2 people. Nice cold beer and BiBimBap served with a generous portion in a stone pot. Stone pot people! This kept the food hot even after an HOUR.
