Really enjoyed this new, great-looking coffee shop. Excellent ambiance and creative, tasty drinks. I'd 100% be a regular if I lived nearby!

I had such a great experience at Modu Cafe today…read more I ordered an iced latte and a matcha latte, and both were excellent. The coffee was smooth, and the matcha had a rich, balanced flavor without being overly sweet. What really stood out to me, though, was the bakery. The pastry display was absolutely beautiful--it felt more like an art exhibition with a subtle Japanese aesthetic than a typical bakery. I tried the Milk Cream Bun and the Miso Cinnamon Roll. The Milk Cream Bun was light and perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness. The Miso Cinnamon Roll completely surprised me. I was curious how miso would work in a cinnamon roll, but it didn't taste noticeably like miso. Instead, it added a subtle savory umami that elevated the sweetness of the cinnamon roll beautifully. It was unlike anything I've had before. This place left such a great impression that I already want to come back and try the rest of the pastries. Highly recommended!

Here is what my sister and I got: Milk Cream Bun - crazy soft and fluffy Dark Chocolate Mochi Brownie - rich chocolate flavor but was a bit too chewy for me Matcha Tonic - had that sharp, refreshing bitterness that I love Iced Matcha Latte - smooth, earthy and clearly high quality They do have a 4-pastry limit per person because everything sells out so fast but it's totally worth the trip. Finding street parking around York Blvd can be a gamble and we got lucky we found a spot in the front.

My…read moreprevious drink was much better, balanced, well-textured, and one of the reasons I wanted to come back. This most recent cortado, however, wasn't quite at the same level. The espresso leaned noticeably bitter from the first sip through the finish, and it was served a bit hotter than ideal, which made it harder to pick up sweetness and clarity in the cup. The milk texture was decent, but not quite as polished as my previous visit. That said, this is still a very cool coffee shop. The space is inviting, the presentation is thoughtful, and it's the kind of place you can easily spend time hanging out in. The biggest issue is consistency rather than capability. When everything is dialed in, they can produce a genuinely good cortado. I'd definitely come back, but I'd love to see a little more consistency from cup to cup.

Kumquat lives off of York Blvd - a street with many families, creatives, and small businesses live. The environment is always wholesome. Their staff are always friendly, and as an experienced barista myself, I can see that their team are also very talented, well trained and very good at quality control. Their espresso is so balanced and sits perfectly center on your palette. Their matcha and hojicha is rich and velvety and seemingly a higher grade product. They work with many roasters, and sell a lot of their beans on their shelves. They also sell a lot of coffee and tea tools. I love everything about coming to Kumquat. Don't skip on their other locations (Loquat and newfound Quat). I'll forever stan this business

To Zweets Cafe Team,…read more I have been a loyal customer of Zweets Cafe for many years and have always enjoyed coming in for my breakfast and coffee. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience during my visit this morning. There was a miscommunication with my coffee and my daughter's chocolate milk, as both were initially served hot. I politely asked if they could be remade cold, and the staff member kindly agreed. However, when the drinks were returned, it was clear that ice had simply been added to the hot beverages. As a result, both drinks were watered down and unpleasant. By the time I got home, I had to throw my coffee away because it tasted so poor, and my daughter's chocolate milk had the same issue. I was very disappointed, especially after clearly requesting the drinks to be remade cold. It felt like a waste of money and did not reflect the quality of service I have come to expect from Zweets Café. I am sharing this feedback in hopes that it helps improve future service, as I truly value your café and would like to continue being a loyal customer. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

On their menu, they actually listed the origin of where their matcha is from and as a matcha lover, I really appreciated that! Their matcha lattes come unsweetened so I opted in for their house-made vanilla syrup as I was intrigued by it. When I received my drink, I noticed the vanilla bean speckles which is an amazing sign! I do think the drink lacked matcha flavor, but it had great color to it! I believe the milk ratio was just a bit much. It definitely has potential though! I also tried my partner's drink and I am not a coffee drinker but I thought it was pretty good! Service: The staff up front was very patient while my partner and I were observing the menu and the pastries that were displayed. They were very informative of all of the displayed pastries! Ambiance: Loved the exterior and the designs on the wall. To the side of the order/pick-up window, there's a huge bench and a bit of tables to sit if you wanted to grab your drinks and chat. There's a cute little area under the tree! Overall, loved the aesthetic of this coffee shop and I would def come back to try out other drinks :)

The pastries were fantastic, gooey, flaky, fresh, authentic and house made. I would love to visit again if I was in LA. I got a variety I split with my brother and enjoyed them. Our favs were probably the Passionfruit or the Elderflower Rubarb. If you have never had fresh, non industrial/store-bought croissants these are going to rock your world. The prices and freshness are fantastic. I expected to pay more than what we did and these are reasonably priced. There isn't really a lot of parking so be prepared to park elsewhere. I been here 3x this month alone & I've sat at the bar on all three occasions. 1st. We were recommended french fries with our espresso martinis which hello why say no but I kid you not our food was sitting on the counter (where the food comes out) for more than 15 minutes before our server at the bar gave it to us. I had to ask them (they were talking to 3 different servers the entire time) to grab them for us lol thankfully, it was just french fries. And mind you, the fries were the only thing out so obviously they were ours. It was not busy. 2nd time I went it took extremely long for someone to come and take our order mind you there was like two people at the bar, including myself and a friend and about 3 to 4 servers behind the bar, talking to a customer and their dog, touching the dog petting the dog (gross) and overall distracted we called them over like 3 times and I swear we were being ignored! Took them over 10mins just to get us water not even counting the drinks we asked for! 3rd time I went, I know you're probably thinking why do you keep going back if their service is so bad but I'm not kidding when I said I used to love this spot. Any who I ordered food and saw with my own two eyes the food runner, wipe her sweat fix her hair and touch the food not wash her hands and not run a single thing...It was as though she was just hired to stare at the food... lol we sent it back and asked them to remove it from our bill which they did. Each and every time I go these days the service staff look like they can't be bothered and are always talking amongst themselves, which is fine but at least take my order and not make me wait 20+ minutes for some water and drinks while you're getting your chat on with people you see every day... I feel so bad saying this, but they should definitely reevaluate their protocols because the ambience this whole thing gave off was not good. I was embarrassed to say the least when my friend said he hated the recommendation. Ugh .
