We came here Saturday after our CycleBar class. A mixture of me starving after spinning and lethargic legs, I was able to cross the street and sit down in the restaurant and breathe lol. But honestly this is my 1st time coming to this location. I've been to gahanna one in stone ridge once. I ordered the blackened chicken sandwich with a side of horseradish mayo that came with house made BBQ kettle chips. It was so delicious, not greasy one bit and I felt full but not so stuffed is too over! lol I love this rustic American bistro. Great food, great price and amazing customer service! A good gastropub is hard to find. 101 Beer Kitchen, though? It stands out like a beacon, among the numerous chains spattered around the Polaris area of North Columbus. Now, take what you will with a grain of salt--I didn't pay for very much at 101 Beer Kitchen, as my state professional organization paid for the overwhelming majority of our food and drink as part of their yearly happy hour. However, I honestly did not expect either as much food as we received, nor did I expect that the food would be that damn tasty. Particular highlights? The pretzel sticks were warm and delectably crispy, with just the right amount of salt. The smoked wings were perfectly seasoned and had a glorious, smoky flavor. But the homemade tater tots? Those were the MVPs. I'm not sure what sauce was drizzled over the top of those, but man, they elevated a simple potato to a whole new level. Similarly, the drinks I had were particularly tasty. The Havana Sidecar was a tangy, unique take on a classic drink, and the pineapple juice/vodka I had after that was exactly how I liked it: just enough ice and juice fresh from the fruit. If I did have a disappointment, it might have been the flatbread pizzas. The 'meat lovers' pie was perfectly fine, but the crust on the Margherita pizza quickly became soggy and disappointing. That said, the key lime pie was damned right on. I'm not usually a fan with any sort of vanilla with key lime, but the sauce drizzled over the top of my slice was nothing short of brilliant. I'd easily go back to 101 BC just for a slice of that pie. Our service was great (especially considering that there were easily 30 of us at the happy hour!), the food was phenomenal, and the drinks hit the spot. This was our first time at the Polaris location. We have always loved 101 Beer Kitchen for their loaded housemade tater tots and 1/2 off draft beer for happy hour. Their happy hour specials are as follows M-F from 3-7pm, 1/2 price drafts, $3 off wine, mead, & sangria and $5 off growler fills. Please be aware that you only get those specials if you sit in the bar area. If you sit in the restaurant seating you will be charged full price. There, you were warned. Next, after settling into the bar area high tops (because we like happy hour prices) we noted that we like the feel of the Polaris bar better than the Dublin bar. It has a laid back feel and seems bigger. It just felt nice. Our server was extremely friendly and patient as we took sometime to order. The tater tots were the highlight but my pecan crusted chicken was definitely edible. I wouldn't call it incredible, but it was good. My Grandmother loved the stuffed golden trout. It is definitely on the sweeter side, but if you like sweetness for your fish you will love it too. We had a good time chatting and sipping our beers while enjoying our dinner. In summary, sit in the bar during happy hour times, and definitely order the tater tots. The service will be great. read more

I can't believe I waited this long to try this place out! Customer service was incredible, from the hostess to our waitress to even the manager on duty who stopped by to see how things were. We loved their selection of brunch items on a Sunday and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals! Our waitress was very informative and helped me decide between two brunch beverages and the one I got was stellar. Wish I could remember the name but it was a grapefruit beer of some sort. Stopped for dinner on Saturday night. A quaint little place that wasn't crowded. Hubby and I usually don't come to those type of "chainy" restaurants. But we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the housemade tater tots for dinner and they were really freaking good. Huns ordered the pulled pork sandwich which he said was good, I didn't try it, it did look good though. I've been eyeing this place for a good year or so and finally went for it on my most recent trip down to Columbus. Unfortunately, I had to get my order to go, but I don't think it compromised the food too much! Tater tots we're a must order after reading through all the reviews! They were so yummy, even for someone who doesn't love tots. The siracha sauce was a little overpowering but it was minimally drizzled over them so I didn't mind. Plenty of to share with a small group! The pork chop was good but a tad on the drier side and a bit tough. Peach compote helped get it down and loved the black bean and cornbread salad! I thought it'd be rich but it was the perfect side for this dish and unique, which I appreciated. Also ordered a side of the pesto green beans, which were cooked nicely but a little bland. This place is amazing! In recent times, I have only gone to the bar with a couple of buddies for drinks. This time we had a big group so we sat for dinner. Our server was great! I think his name was Adam. He helped the group tremendously with drink and food decisions. We also learned that everything is made in house and the menu changes every few months! My friends and coworkers have previously told me to try the house made tots and I found an interesting dish located under sandwiches...crab cake lettuce wraps Omg, those choices were amazing. I was not expecting the tots to come out like they did. I expected a bowl of tots with toppings on them. No these are like breaded tots. Any they are breaded by the toppings. They are like potato balls. They absolutely lived up to the hipe. The other dish we got to share was the crab cake lettuce wrap. This was so refreshing and light, perfect for a hot sticky summer day. The toppings on this dish were perfect. This also came with a fresh watermelon salad featuring cilantro and feta. Two thumbs up, I'll get this dish again and again! read more

My daughter and I went for a small plates lunch and ordered appetizers. Fast, friendly service. Large portions and great prices! The food was delicious. We ordered smoked wings which were smoky, a little sweet, a little spicy and very juicy inside! The loaded tots are crispy outside, cheesy and creamy inside. The aioli is perfectly spiced and the scallions add the extra punch. The macaroni and cheese was, well fantastic and comforting on a cool fall afternoon. I've been complaining about them constantly for not having a vegetarian option on their menu for years, but they FINALLY updated their menu this past season and I am a happy camper. They now have 2 vegetarian salads and a vegan burger. Their drinks are great, their brunch is limited but great. My boyfriend thinks their food is a little "too weird" for him but I, personally, love how creative they get with their dishes. Their menu changes often so you'll never get bored of the same dishes. My now husband and I hosted a brunch here after our wedding for our out of town guests. Despite living so close, this was my first time. Their food was good - I got the cornbread with chorizo gravy. It was so good that I might not try anything else in the future! My husband got the crab cake Benedict, which was good, but not as good as the cornbread. They also have a pretty large selection of drinks (which is expected when you name yourself 101 Beer Kitchen), and all the dishes and drinks are very fairly priced. The only thing that I think could've been improved upon was the timing of them serving the food. We had 3-4 large tables going, and they served the table my husband and I were at last, and significantly later than all the rest of the tables. They also seemed to give my husband the check a little too abruptly, which I thought was kind of strange, because I've never seen anyone do that. That being said, if I strictly was reviewing the food and drinks, I would give them 5/5 for sure! :) read more

I hate to provide this review. I have loved 101 for years -- at this location and in Dublin. However, my past few times here have either been slow, cold, inedible or just disappointing. I understand that they may be struggling with help. However, that's no reason to let food be served out of the kitchen that is under-done or wrongly prepared. I won't be ordering for a while. And I've been a regular. They've been forgiving with the refunds, but that only goes so far. When I come for curbside and call/text, the people serving just look out the window at us and carry on, then eventually come down and apologize that they "forgot to turn on the iPad" or whatever other excuse I've gotten. Meanwhile, they are just standing there. Frustrating... This is not the same restaurant. I hope they beat this, or I hope the next restaurant is as good as 101 used to be. read more

We were told there would be a wait even though they had open seating and we called ahead for seating. They wouldn't set us at the open tables and made us wait for a table to open up. But by the time we left they had set people where they wouldn't set us. Heather B was our waitress. She disappeared at some point and we had to ask for the bill. She did not see the child's drink was empty and we had to ask for it to be refilled. When she would leave our table who knew when she was coming back. Let me preface this by saying I work in the service industry for one of the top restaurants in Columbus, but I must say, I was deeply disappointed by the service I received today dining at this location. I have frequented the beer kitchen in Dublin and have visited this location for brunch a handful of times and never had a bad experience, but today I felt compelled to write a review about this. It was fairly busy for a Wednesday night, though it is around the Holidays so management should have been prepared for this, however I went in and sat at the bar to have a nice meal and a few drinks after working a 12 hour shift, but was ignored quite often by the bartender. I watched as she served the people on either side of me over the course of 10 minutes or so as I had my card in my hand trying to close out, and she completely avoided making eye contact with me. On a typical day I would have spoken up, however my voice is quite hoarse today and I did not feel like shouting over the music to get her attention. As someone who has been a bartender for many years I know that I was being ignored considering this bar seats only 14 or so. It is an intentional excersise to serve people sitting on either side of someone with their card out in hand while not even acknowledging the person. She even asked the group sitting next to me if they wanted to close out despite them giving no indication that they wanted to. All while I was saying "excuse me" and holding my card up. A simple acknowledgement would have been enough to alleviate my annoyance as I understand what it's like to be in the weeds while running a bar solo in this industry and can sympathize. Eventually another employee of the restaurant noticed that I'd been sitting with card in hand for 15 minutes at this point and walked behind the bar to ask if I'd like to be closed out. When a patron is coming in and spending over $50 on their meal and drinks this is no way to make them want to ever come into your restaurant again. I would have happily spent $100 on myself today had the service been better. Now I regret spending $60. Consider more staff for the bar or hiring bartenders who don't ignore their patrons. The poor service I received detracted greatly from the delicious food. read more

We've been to Beer Kitchen 101 on Polaris Pkwy numerous times and have had some really good meals. We liked it so much that we also got take out several times for the family and ended up taking out of town guests there for dinner. Some of our family favorites were ... the Salmon Cobb Salad, Greek Steak Salad, Grilled Taco Chicken Salad, The 101 Burger - the kids esp liked this one, The BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, the Margherita Pizza, and the Salmon was pretty good too.. Unfortunately, the last time we had a meal at Beer Kitchen 101, it was not at all up to par for this restaurant and we haven't been back since. Unfortunately, the last time we ate there was also one of the times we had out of town company. We raved to them about this restaurant ... so we were especially disappointed when all six meals just weren't good. (Everyone has an off-night and I'm sure that's what happened the last time we had dinner there) On the plus side - we did find our new favorite beer at Beer Kitchen 101 - Zombie Killer by b.nektar Meadery. I'm not a big drinker and it's rare when I have a beer at a restaurant, but Beer Kitchen has some really interesting brews. Zombie Killer is actually a cider and it was just yummy. Not everyone ordered it as their first round but everyone liked it so much that all six of us ended up having a second round - all Zombie Killers. Since then we've been able to find Zombie Killer at several local stores - YUM! The prices at Beer Kitchen 101 are reasonable and the food is interesting. All in all it can be a good choice when trying a new place. read more

Good but not amazing. The Saturday night wait for two people was an hour plus, so we found seats at the bar. The bartender was not attentive but we eventually flagged her down to get a drink and then a dinner menu. Lots of IPAs (my fav) on tap, and a wide variety of specialty drinks. The Winter Mule was also good but served in a rocks glass instead of a mule mug. I ordered the burger But substituted beat chips for french fries. The burger was fine, I ordered it medium but it was very pink, almost red inside. Beet chips were good but I couldn't really taste any beef flavor. My mom had the pierogi appetizer which had three average size pierogis on a large bed of cooked red cabbage. The dish was spiced well. We went to this establishment, ordered a drink, ordered dinner and we were all having a good time. We were joking around some, laughing, etc. Our food came and one of our guests asked for a second drink and the waitress refused. She stated she didn't feel comfortable serving us and if we'd like to talk to a manager we could. We said we'd like to. The manager came over and never inquired about what had transpired, never spent time talking with us or he would have seen we were perfectly fine, and just stated that whatever the waitress says he supports. It's sad because the food was good but if you plan on having more than one drink or plan on having a good time with people at dinner, don't go here! If I could select 0 star I would but I can't. I liked the vibe... if you have a group over ten, you won't be sitting together but at a table next to you. The menu always changes but i wanted to try the shrimp n grits. Not what i expected..... it looked like a stew/soup? I uhmm never seen it have so much soup in it. I tried it and it wasn't bad! I just think .... it needs bread? The flavors were too strong it became salty? You need bread to balance it out or lots of water. The Brussel sprouts were good!! My friends scallop dish was delicious though! This is by far my favorite place in the area to grab dinner. So much so that I actually went twice in the same week just to try a different dish that I was craving the day before. Service 5+ A well organized and knowledgeable bar staff make this place a welcoming stop on every visit. From beer to mixed drinks and wine everyone was knowledgeable and helpful. Food 5+ The menu rotates and although some items are served year round, a few are added and removed throughout the seasons. This review specifically covers the fall menu but I have no doubt that the other times of the year are just as good. I've tried multiple entrees and appetizers and nothing fell short from temperature to presentation and flavor. My favorite items include the squash soup, Brussels sprouts and filet. They have an excellent Cobb and wedge as well. Drinks Haven't tried much outside of the beer but they do offer half pours on all taps which is a huge win when you want a little something but can't indulge fully or are watching your calories. Hands down this is a place you have to try if you are in Westerville as a local, for pleasure or work. Looking forward to my next visit. read more
