My colleagues and I stopped by here in June for breakfast before we flew back from our work trip. I found 1228 on Yelp as one of the top places for brunch in the Arts District. It was already so hot even though we went around 9-10am. Food, drinks, and pastries were all so good! Even my chat GPT recommended this place and few items from their menu! Staff was super attentive and nice and everything was so good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the decor[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and if I live in the area I would've loved to come back at night for the bar section. Highly recommend!

Stopped in for coffee and a loaf of Sourdough to go. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wonderful dining room when you walk in, about 14 tables and 3 booths that probably seat about 4 people. Lots of seating at the bar area, and a large window table that seats about 6 people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was not loud at all for a Sunday morning, around 10:30 am.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Coffee is superb, sourdough loaf was soft and delicious. Lots of pastries and breads to choose from. Friendly staff and service. Food coming out on large plates and platters looked really good and the constant aroma of everything being cooked or brewed, just mouthwatering. I will definitely be back to try the breakfast and lunch menu. What a gem in the heart of downtown Vegas.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This was a great spot that my friends and I enjoyed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We arrived at 9:30am and easily got a table for 4. We were so enraptured in our conversation, we took forever ordering from the menu but the waiters were kind and patient. I got a cappuccino, the crème brûlée croissant, and the Main Street special (eggs, toast, bacon, and potatoes). The croissant was so good and the bacon was utter perfection. Everyone enjoyed the meals and my friend was raving about the matcha. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is also very pretty and the bathrooms were clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can also order at the counter and take your things to go. What a cute little gem downtown. Great location if you are checking out all the vintage and antique shops. The parking is a little challenging so give yourself time before your reservation. The service was remarkable. Our guy was very attentive and helpful the entire time. Before I left I ordered a coffee, he saw I took the lid off to cool it down and without asking he brought me a cup of ice to help. He was very thoughtful and pleasant. It is welcoming and nicely lit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the Reuben sandwich. The bread was dripping in butter but had a great flavor and was still crunchy. The pastrami, slaw and Russian dressing combo was really delicious and I'd recommend. The fries were good, I would maybe have cooked them 1 minute longer but I like mine more crunchy. My husband had the brunch burger with bacon and egg and he really liked it but would suggest to add another patty if you're hungry. My fil had the Smash double patty burger and he said it was really good. The buns were soft and tasted fresh and the meat was well flavored. They have a super cute pastry bar that looks amazing but I was too full to try anything but we will go back again soon.

First time trying this place. I got the pastrami Ruben on sourdough instead of multi grain. The sandwich was delicious! But word of warning it's really messy! It has Cole slaw with Russian dressing instead of sauerkraut. But it tastes very good. The dressing makes it messy though. But it was worth it. The fries are crispy despite being on the fat side. The sandwich is not large but it was filling and I couldn't eat all the fries. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a bar on one side of the restaurant and a dozen or so tables. On this Friday for lunch about 1/2 the tables were open.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is very good and I got my food pretty quick and he checked back often. So much quality & local spots in this part of town! Love 1228 Main for a good spot to enjoy a meal or a good spot to grab pastries! We need more of this kind of combo in the "suburbs " of Vegas! Hubby brought me here on a surprise impromptu date night, so I didn't really know what to expect. I was very pleased with my meal at 1228 Main. There are some issues, but this restaurant does a lot really well. The menu is very limited, and there are little to no vegetarian / vegan options. This really shocked me, especially for a restaurant in the Arts District. I'm unsure if the chef would be willing to accommodate, but it seemed like the type of place that you'd be told "no" if you wanted to modify something to be meatless. Minus a star for limited veggie options. Another thing I didn't like was the overall atmosphere. It's a working bakery and kitchen, which means there was a never-ending clatter from the kitchen as well as the distracting smell of bread baking. Both kitchens were also producing a lot of heat, and the restaurant was uncomfortably warm. I was not cool and relaxed, and they are in desperate need of better air conditioning. I cannot imaging how horrid the summer months must get, and I will be sure to avoid dining here during that time. I also found the service to be lacking. It wasn't unprofessional, but I would call it inattentive. For a nicer, chef-driven restaurant, I expect far, far better service. My water glass shouldn't be empty, and I would appreciate a server at least checking in on my within 5 minutes after my meal is served. Our waiter dropped our food and never returned, leading to us having to repeatedly try to flag down anyone to bring us water since we were desperate for a drink! Now on to the good! The food was so fresh and tasty. While the menu didn't offer detailed enough descriptions, I was happy with what I ordered. We shared a shrimp appetizer that was beautifully fried and presented, and the portion was large (actually, I'd say it was too large) for two people. I'd only order this again if we had one or more friends with us. The shrimp quality was exceptional, and the flavors were on point. Next up was the bread service with butter. Get this. It features whatever fresh breads they've made recently, and it was so good. I actually wish this was larger, I needed more bread slices! Our server gladly brought us extra butter for no additional charge, which I appreciated. For our entrees, hubby got the steak and I got the shrimp pasta. He said the steak was good, but not great. My dish was excellent. I loved the fresh flavors and the sweet peas added so much to the buttery sauce. We both had leftovers and agreed that the dishes reheated so well that they tasted almost as good as they did the night before! I was pleased with how reasonably priced the wine list was! I got a quality glass of sparkling wine for $14, and he got a special pickle juice cocktail for under $20. The cocktail was laughably small, but they didn't skimp on liquor or flavors. The wine list and cocktail list are incredibly well curated. The dining room was surprisingly empty at 6:30 on a Saturday night. It was very easy to secure a reservation at the last minute. I hope that's not forecasting a bad time ahead for this restaurant. Eventually a few tables started to fill in, but it was far from packed on a weekend night. Despite a few bumps in the road, I will recommend 1228 Main and will be sure to return. I don't think it's destined to be a personal favorite of mine, but I will add it to our local dining rotation.

Enjoyed some breakfast down here in the Arts District! I had the Quiche and my mother had the 2-egg breakfast! This is definitely one of my favorite quiches I have had. Nice and crispy top, flakey crust and soft creamy inside! The service was great, and very attentive. Nice early morning crowd, but seated immediately.

1228 wow! I am a repeat customer and you can find me at the bar with an espresso martini in hand. Last year my favorite brunch item was discontinued and that was the egg salad sandwich. I know that sounds like a boring option, but let me tell you! I miss it everyday. I do enjoy their burger and croissant sandwich. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a cute spot where you can see the pastries being made and prepped.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar area is a great place to chit-chat with whoever you're with![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is also a solid brunch choice. 1228 is amazing!!! I visited 3 times for weekend brunch before I wrote this review and it has been consistent all along! Located in the Arts district - 1228 Main provides Las Vegas locals with top quality foods, great menu selection and artisan pastry and bread chefs, and all that in local setting! Prices are also appropriate! First time I got here, I was skeptical about the bakery in the Arts district, but after trying their donuts, breads, quiches - I was blown away! Every weekend I came here there was a different special item they were pushing - yet it was always good. Even matcha filled donuts (I am no matcha lover) were awesome!!! Of note, I would say breakfast burrito is fabulous, quiche is good and I really liked corned beef hash with eggs! Service is good. Consistently good. To be honest we felt our server first and second time might have been nice to us, so the third time we had a different server and it was still great! Ambiance resembles open space with dark wood tones contrasted with white open kitchen! Very clean and immaculate! Street parking was not the problem for weekend brunch!!!

I can't believe it's taken me this long to check out this spot. What a cute place!! Came here with my sister in law, mother in law, and our friend. We stopped in for some lunch on a Saturday and it wasn't terribly busy. We were seated right away. I love that there is a dining room area as well as a separate bar area. They also do have a few seats outside for patio dining as well. But the ambiance inside is spectacular. To drink, three of us ordered the Hands Down cocktail. It sounded super refreshing. I did want to try the Dirty Anna, but I'll try that next time. The Hands Down cocktail was hands down the most delicious!!! I know that's cheesy, but I don't care. It was everything I wanted. Super refreshing. The glass it was served in was also so dang cute. For lunch, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. I've been on a fried chicken sandwich kick lately, so I was glad I ordered this. It was soooo good! The slaw had a nice kick to it and the chicken was cooked perfectly. It was hard not to devour the entire thing. We ended up coming back in here later to grab a shot and had them make the Hands Down into a shot and it was delicious. Our server even stopped by at the bar to say hi to us again haha. Love the service here and again, food is phenomenal! I'll definitely be back.

So I was looking for a coffee shop, and for some reason this place popped up. They do actually serve coffee and pastries, but it's more of a restaurant. I went in the early evening, thinking I could do my work here, but it turned out. It was already dinner time. By the time I got there, they weren't really serving pastries, and people are sitting down for a dinner service. I kind of laughed it off and talked to the servers, and they were very understanding, they put me in a table in a corner, so I didn't feel like I was part of the dinner service. I truly wasn't hungry, so I just wanted to order a drink and a snack, wasn't in the mood for having a full-blown dinner. Everybody was very understanding and accommodating. I ended up ordering a Matcha latte and some chive garlic cream butter. Everything that I had was super green, but it was good. I felt really bad that the server had to wait on me even though I wasn't ordering dinner. My whole meal ended up being $15 with a tip, definitely more than I spend at a coffee shop, but they were nice, so it was OK. Might come back to try an actual lunch or dinner sometime in read more

We finally got the opportunity to go there for breakfast this morning and it did not disappoint! The staff was quite friendly, it was a larger space than we anticipated, it was clean and inviting. The food and beverages came out in a timely manner, and we finished everything on our plates. My husband and I shared a chocolate croissant, a breakfast sandwich and what would be considered a traditional breakfast plate (but it was much better). The pastry and fresh breads were delectable! I've been here for brunch, dinner, and just for pastries, and each time has been delicious! The bread is the obvious star of the show. Whether you're getting the sourdough, baguette (my personal favorite), cherry walnut loaf, or one of their many pastries, you are sure to leave satisfied. The coffee is great in the morning, and the cocktails are equally good at night. Some of my favorite dishes include the shakshuka, pot pie, and chicken foie. The service is fine, and the ambience switches from business lunches in the day to a romantic spot at night. I highly recommend making a reservation, but you can also walk in without a long wait. read more

The food for breakfast and lunch is light and rich, focused on the fabulous homemade breads. The croissants are light and laminated to perfection. I had the Ham & Gruyère Croissant served warm with a light salad for $12 and it was perfect! Felt like I was in France!. Also tasted their drip coffee, deep bodied like French coffee with an olive oil lemon layered cake, was not sweet and again tasted like it came from France. Service was efficient, you order and pay at the counter, get a number tent card and they deliver it to your table. Ambiance is a lively bistro vibe with people coming and going and take outs. We were celebrating our 43rd Anniversary and 60th Birthday. We came in and were seated immediately. Ambience was quiet, relaxing, quaint. It looks modern but cozy at the same time. Selena was very personable and she was a pleasure. I had the chicken and my husband had the salmon which was amazing. We started out with a warm greeting and a welcoming ambiance. Our server, Amanda, suggested that we start out with the $6 herb butter and rye toast. It was truly wonderful. I just wished that it had come with a couple more slices of bread. The other bread served was almost as wonderful however. My sister LOVED her burger and fries. My friend, a local resident, wanted the shrimp pasta, not considering upon ordering, that the numerous Calabria pepper pieces would make the dish very spicy. I ordered the fantastic chicken pot pie, that was extremely flavorful and a fun presentation. My friend loved it so much, that I let him enjoy the rest while I finished his (too spicy) pasta dish. Getting there at happy hour, we were able to enjoy reduced price drinks. I'm so glad I chose the sangria! We took home some basque cheesecake for dessert, that was heavenly and purchased some creme Brulee croissants for breakfast. It was one of our favorite meals on on foodie vacation. Wolfgang let me down again! This time with the dessert and pot pie. The peach crumble, NOT COBBLER, was underwhelming. The peaches were hard and not sweet, as peaches should be (contrary to the servers argument). The chicken pot pie was all puff and no crust. You need a substantial crust to balance the filling. Otherwise it was a dinner with great service. read more

Exactly what the Las Vegas food scene needs! This hip new addition to DTLV is right on par with Esther's Kitchen, Main St Provisions, and Makers and Finders, while setting itself apart from the rest. They serve as a bakery/cafe, bar, and brunch/lunch/dinner restaurant in one. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and pastry menu during a weekend morning and then several days later grabbed dinner on their second day of being open for dinner. Prices were reasonable and the quality was top notch. Service was excellent despite it being only their second day of dinner thanks to Olivia our server. Quite literally the worst fucking place I've ever been to even told two ladies outside to not waste their time and don't go in unless they want good food and shit service. It's funny because when I go to restaurants, I drop a fuck ton of money. this place treating me like I'm a child because I have a baby face, not to mention they waited about 10 minutes to sit me down when they were absolutely empty. This place is awesome! The ambiance is very nice, the food is incredible and the service is top tier. We have been there for weekend brunches but never had dinner there until tonight. MUCH better experience the second time around! Service was excellent. The system seems to have changed. They now seat you at the door rather than giving out numbers. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, and she was diligently training another waitress. Busboys were also very attentive, coming by regularly to refill water and remove dirty plates. Food was excellent! I definitely recommend trying the green garlic butter! It was amazing! The seasonal desert was the Pumpkin Cheesecake and it was delicious. Perfectly smooth and creamy. We had friends in from Florida and my friend who was with us used to work with the owner there at Spagos. Anyways, we came in and we're greeted warmly. After we sat down a girl brought over two pastries, saying compliments of the chef, and we thanked them very much. The food was very good. Their breads are off the chart they are delicious. We ended up taking home a sourdough loaf and a cherry walnut loaf. Excellent. We definitely will be going back. The one thing I will say though is we got charged on our bill for the desserts that the chef sent over, and I just think that was probably a miscommunication between the server, and the woman who brought the desserts over, but other than that definitely a great place and their desserts are excellent. read more

This is an excellent addition to downtown and one of my new favorite spots! We tried it for Sunday brunch on recommendation of a friend. The food is very tasty and delicious! They brought the savory culinary skills, flavors, and atmosphere of San Francisco to Vegas. I lived in SF for years and missed the small, family owned restaurants that were so cool but gone now. I went here Sunday morning with my husband. We thought it looked so cute online. You could grab a bakery item and latte to go. But that wasnt our experience. We stood at the counter waiting to order for 8 minutes while everyone ignored us. The girl making coffees totally ignored us. Finally a lady came over and asked if we needed help. We ordered 2 lattes and 2 pastries for $27. And then never got our order. Another girl came in and they made her latte right in front of us while we continued to wait. Handed it to her right in front of us! They broke 2 cups and cleaned them up while we waited still. My suggestion..dont have a to go counter inside if you are too busy to service it. read more

There's usually a line, so if you show up at peak hours, be prepared to wait. Parking is limited and kind of sucks, so bring patience--it goes a long way.

During a recent trip to Vegas, my group decided to venture out from the Strip and explore the Arts District, stopping at 1228 Main for brunch. This place was a true gem! The food was excellent, but what made our visit exceptional was our waitress, Amanda. She was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests, making the visit truly memorable. We ordered a variety of items, including take-home pastries, cocktails, lattes, and flavorful, bottomless mimosas. I had the French toast, sangria, and a whiskey cocktail. The French toast was rich and fluffy, topped with fresh fruit and mascarpone cream. The sangria was a bit dry but enjoyable, and the whiskey cocktail was quite good. Unfortunately, the pear in the danish wasn't poached or anything and seemed too hard for the danish. I think we were both expecting it to be poached or something - but that's on us. The Benedict's were a little bland, I got a hint of the brown butter hollandaise in one bite, but it seemed to disappear after that. They didn't over season, which I appreciate, and we could add salt and pepper (from their whimsical shaker collection, might I add) to our liking. The PublicUs sourdough it was all piled on was great. The roasted red bliss potatoes were perfect, crispy and salty on the outside, creamy on the inside - my favorite bite on the plate. I love PublicUs dearly, but I think I'll stick to the tried and true avocado toast next time which is always reliably incredible.
