As a vegan and gluten-free person, I love coming to this diner. The service is always good even when it's busy. The food is good and I love the diner atmosphere. When I had my friends come join me for breakfast recently for my birthday one of them ordered the fried rice and she said it's some of the best fried rice she's had!

So many great plant based options! I've never found a diner in town that I can get a full breakfast/lunch with classic options but vegan. Fast, friendly service. I had an omelet and hash browns and side of sourdough toast. It was so good and a lot of food. Pretty reasonably priced. Will be back to so of the other great breakfast and lunch options.

Amber was our server and she was EXCELLENT! Very friendly, accommodating, attentive and helpful. Especially considering that we had a group of 15 (half are vegan!) The food was delicious too. Five star service!!!

Came to Black and Blue Diner expecting a vibe... and yeah, I got one. Not sure if it was "retro diner chic" or "this place has seen some things," but either way, it definitely has character The food was actually pretty decent--nothing life-changing, but it hit the spot. Like, if you're hungry and questioning your life choices at the same time, this place understands you. Portions were solid, flavors were there, no complaints on that front. Now let's talk about the ambiance... it's a little... seasoned. You ever walk into a place and feel like the walls could tell stories? Yeah, that. It's got that slightly run-down, rough-around-the-edges look, but hey, adds to the experience I guess. Keeps you humble. Service though? Surprisingly quick. Like, blink and your food's already on the table. No time to overthink your order or your surroundings. Overall: good food, fast service, and an atmosphere that builds character. Would I come back? Yeah... just maybe not on a first date unless you're really trying to test them.

Rosies are blue. Black is the new red. A server named Amber. And a wide variety of vegan options for you.

A place with options. A quick decision directed us to the Black and Blue diner. With a very attentive staff we were seated immediately. The breakfast was tasty with even vegan options to choose from. So, if you ask if anybody is there. A traveler would know to stop at the most unsuspecting places, as the house is filled inside for a yahoo experience and a server with a genuine smile.

Always amazing! Cute little diner. Was super busy on Veterans Day but Amber still gave great service!! Got my vegan steak grilled cheese I've been craving and it was delicious as always. My mom got a salad and it was massive. Food is pricey but portions are big and idk what their secret is but they make simple things taste so delicious!! Love this place! If you haven't been...GO!

After a successful morning getting a stash of viral Trader Joe's bags we wanted some breakfast. Trusty Yelp advocating this Vegan friendly establishment. First thing that caught my eye was the Cheesecake menu calling and they even offered Vegan ones! We wanted breakfast first and left no room for dessert. Next time I'll initiate the dessert first choice!

I got the plate that had (all vegan) a waffle, bacon, eggs, and potatoes. It was very good! Thrilling bacon is great, and I added blueberries to the waffle. I also tried some fries, which were very good.

The food was delicious and plenty. Provide enough for one person to share with another. Great flavors.

The food was delicious! It all came out relatively quickly, and service was prompt! Everything was clean and well prepared. Both of us cleaned our plates !!

Went here with a friend for breakfast and it was disappointing. I ordered the pastrami swirl reuben with onion rings, and my friend ordered steak and eggs. The onion rings were great. They were crispy, and well seasoned. The pastrami was okay. The steak's texture and flavor were off. The coffee was weak, which was a letdown for a breakfast spot. The service, though, was good and the prices were reasonable. Overall, the experience was underwhelming.

We Tried Black and Blue Diner this morning right when they opened, and it did not disappoint. This place has been on our bucket list for sometime now and we are so happy we finally got try them. We actually had the place to ourselves at first, but it quickly filled up--which makes sense because it's clearly a local favorite with lots of regulars coming in. We ordered the Jackpot Deluxe Breakfast and the chilaquiles, and both were great choices. I asked for extra crispy bacon and most places disappoint me as they don't know what extra crispy is but this place nailed it!!!! It was so good. The eggs, diner potatoes and bacon were great. Pancakes which we shared were also delicious. The chilaquiles were outstanding according to my fiancé. They give you the option of red or green sauce or the option for half and half which is what he chose. The salsa verde was good and the right blend of tomatillos, green chiles and everything else. It was not overly spicy but just the right amount of kick to let you know there was some heat in there. The salsa Roja was smoky and flavorful as well. It complimented everything else. The steak was juicy, seasoned to perfection however it was slightly overcooked but it was so good my fiancé didn't realize it until he was almost done eating it. lol. He didn't even use any cholula because he said it was that good, but if you want an extra kick, It is there on the table if you need it. They do not skimp on the ingredients as even the coffee was the brand chock full o' nuts Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were solid--definitely a satisfying start to the day. The menu is surprisingly extensive with tons of options, including a great gluten-friendly section and plenty of choices for vegan guests. It really feels like there's something for everyone here. The service really stood out. Our server Amber was awesome--super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and the rewards program which we signed up for just off her recommendation and knowledge alone. She even recommended her personal favorites which made ordering easy. The diner itself is not super huge but if you go there early enough, you may avoid the crowds, but let's face it, the ambiance is apart of the experience as well. It's bright, clean, and welcoming. Overall, this is a great spot whether you're a regular or just passing through. This place is a 10/10, we highly recommend and We'll 100% be back. Next time we will take the opportunity to look around a little more at the decor, accolades and magazine articles they have been featured in. We were nervous first timers but Amber made us feel right at home.

Is there any entree that is gluten free here? Does this restaurant use a shared fryer for things like battered fish that would cross contaminate foods like gluten free french fries? I have Celiac disease and have to eat gluten free.

Hi do they have almond milk? Or any milk to go with the vegan menu? Thanks!

I ordered coffee and asked for planted based creamer to put in my coffee. They had some. It was sometime ago so I cannot recall if it was almond or oat and don't actually know if it was a creamer or milk.

    Is outdoor seating available?

No. It's all inside. They have a good sized parking lot so maybe that'll change. But at this point, there's no outside seating.

Are you open for dine in?

Hi Lynny, Yes we are open for dining inside. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions of 25% capacity right now we are requiring reservations. If you email me at…

Every Las Vegas trip should come with a mandatory stop at The Modern Vegan. Whether you're sitting…read moredown or grabbing it to-go, you're in for a serious amount of food! Their online ordering can be a little hit-or-miss, so we usually skip the website drama and just order at the host desk. Your food is typically ready in about 15 minutes, and they write your order right on the boxes--which is a lifesaver when you're picking up a feast. Utensils are provided, too. And when I say the portions are MASSIVE, I mean it. You definitely get your money's worth. We've never gone wrong with the burgers or any of the mac-n-cheese plates. My personal favorite, though? The Oreo milkshake. It's dangerously good. One of the hosts also recommended a "secret" menu item: milkshake that tasted exactly like an Orange Creamsicle. That was a fun surprise and definitely one of those "trust the staff" moments! We usually grab our food and take it back to our place, but the restaurant itself is a comfortable spot, too. There's a bar area with high-top seating and a separate restaurant section, TVs showing the latest sports, plenty of space between tables, and thankfully, it's not overly noisy. The hosts/servers were especially attentive on this trip--2 out of the 3 we interacted with were genuinely kind and gave us some great suggestions. One thing to be aware of: there are homeless people walking around the surrounding area, so just keep that in mind when coming and going. Overall, The Modern Vegan has officially earned its "Vegas trip = must eat here" status for us. Come hungry... or better yet, come hungry and bring a fridge.

I had recently been eating a healthy vegan and gluten-free diet at a yoga retreat and noticed how much better I was feeling, so I was craving that same kind of nourishing experience today. The Modern Vegan seemed like the perfect choice. I was greeted by the friendly Nicole at the door, who ended up being my server--and she was delightful! She was patient with all my questions, attentive, and provided genuinely great service. (I think my lemon for the water may have gotten lost somewhere along the way, but Nicole, I forgive you. ) I ordered the Breakfast Skillet, and WOW--it was delicious! I would absolutely order it again. If I were making a couple of tiny tweaks next time, I might go with fresh avocado instead of guacamole if that's an option, and I'd probably get the cheese sauce on the side. But honestly, those are just personal preferences because the skillet was fantastic. The portion was generous enough that I ended up taking half home, which means I already have tomorrow's breakfast waiting for me. YAY! And can we talk about the ambiance? The inside is adorable! I loved all the flowers and plants, the beautiful lighting, chandeliers, and artwork on the walls. It has such a fun, welcoming, colorful energy that makes you want to linger. There was also a cute sign as you're entering the bathrooms that said, "Sorry daddy, I'm in Vegas," which definitely gave me a little laugh and added to the playful vibe of the place. I left feeling full, happy, and very pleased with my decision to revisit The Modern Vegan. After several years away, I'd say this Saturday breakfast was a delicious reminder that sometimes your body knows exactly what it wants--and today, mine wanted vegan food!

I love vegan/vegetarian food, even though I'm not longer living that kind of dietary lifestyle! Crossroads has a lot of great options, from "steaks" to "calamari". OMG I have to give a BIG shout out to the calamari. It was so good that I had to order that dish twice in one sitting. It's made from mushrooms, which I already love, and they are seasoned SO WELL! I didn't even need to dip it in the marinara sauce it comes with to enjoy it. To be completely honest, the calamari here beats out A LOT of real calamaris I've had in my life, which is a lot. If calamari is on the menu at any spot, best believe it will be ordered by me. I got the "steak", which was a big piece of lovely lion mane's mushroom. Very nicely cooked. The sauce on top was on the saltier side, but I didn't mind it. I liked the stuffed zucchini blossoms too. All in all, I would go back just for the calamari even - can't get over how good it is. Our server was nice and helpful when explaining the menu. I did have questions about what veggies were substituting out what "meat" dishes. Mainly mushroom, which is great!

The hostess did say happy birthday when I walked in so it was on the notes but nothing was ever said by the server and we got dessert therefore they didn't even have to send anything but there is never a candle or a plate that says happy birthday or even a happy birthday from the server. I feel like this is one of the only fine dining restaurants that does nothing. Food/drinks- I got the 5 course meal. The meals weren't coursed the best. We sat for too long between each course. First course- ..... was so flavorful and delicious. I could've had five of them! I believe it was a cucumber and melon salad Second course- Pizza. Not great. And didn't have half with mushrooms like asked. Third course- Linguine scallops -flavorful and yummy. Would've liked some pepper but no one came by. Fourth course- eggplant filet. This. Was. DELICIOUS. I'm actually upset I couldn't eat it all hot and fresh. This was amazing and I'd definitely get it again. Dessert- Banana pudding. Probably the best dessert they have. This was also delicious!! The cream was wonderful and the breading in it. Great creation! Corn tart- Not at all what I expected. Flavor was not great. The shell was extremely hard. I couldn't even cut through it. I was super excited for this, but very disappointed. Wedge salad- Chicken Milanese- good but usually better. Not as crispy as it normally is and we've gotten this multiple times. Overall, one of my favorite dishes, but kind of lacking this time around. Drinks- one tasted like they used pickle juice instead of lime juice. It was awful. The next drink was delicious though. Service- The server was great!! Made recommendations , checked with the chef on something for me. The only complaint is he seemed overly busy with tables and didn't really check back. The manager Jaryd (don't know the spelling) stopped by and was also very kind! The runners were on top of clearing plates but no one ever brought fresh silverware back.
