Spent the morning in Forest Park, great park! Wanted to finish with a tasty lunch and found 2Schae on yelp. Great food, made by the owners who take pride in a delicious meal. Yelp and Google were both right, this is a great place for breakfast, at a minimum The Schaefer's were the only two working, but we did not have to wait long for our meals. My husband found 2Shae on Yelp this morning with my love of breakfast in the back of his mind. We came in today during a small rush and the gentleman was great at getting us sat at a table with a (heated) bench. We both got the french toast and a side of breakfast potatoes. We realized the man waiting on us was the owner when he brought us a pecan cinnamon roll on the house for taking so long, when in reality we were perfectly happy to be there and was just soaking in the quaint atmosphere. Super cute place. Owner was so sweet, chatting with customers who were clearly friends when I came in, stopped to say hello and see if I was ready immediately and told me to just interrupt whenever I knew or if I had any questions. Got an iced coffee and a breakfast burrito with black beans and sun dried tomatoes - was served the iced coffee immediately and had finished about half by the time my burrito was ready and they were kind enough to refill it on my way out! Iced coffee was solid, burrito was great - just the right size, not overwhelmingly large, but good for the price. We stopped here for breakfast after dropping our daughter off at the zoo. The first thing I will comment on is the atmosphere. At first I was a little put off as I generally like table service and this is a place where one orders at the counter and has things brought to you. However, the entire staff there went above and beyond to make you feel welcomed, comfortable and looked after. They are very friendly. There were some tables around in addition to some couches so you could experience the room in different ways. We opted for a high top table next to the window, with cushions that made it feel like you were eating at home (only without all the work). The food was good. Their omlettes are not true omlettes, more what I would call "folded eggs" but the flavor combinations worked really well. In addition to the omlettes, we also got an order of french toast, which was outstanding. All in all a great place for a relax and casual breakfast. read more

I've eaten here a few times now, and every time I leave I want I go straight back. I have yet to find something on the menu I haven't raved about (shoutout to the Tuscan breakfast!) and the same can be said about anyone I've recommended the place to. The cafe is casual and the service is great. I was treated like family here. I had the Corner Cristo which surpassed my expectations. The staff all treated me so well and made me feel like I stepped into my family's home. This was one of my favorite places that I've eaten at, ever. They also keep a few tables outside during the year in case there is some good weather (like there was today!) and you'd rather eat out there. I've been a big fan of 2Schae, ever since they moved into the neighborhood 4 years ago. Even after moving back to the city recently, I could count on being able to get my breakfast here. I personnaly recommend the Chipotle Club. It's a delicious club sandwich with Turkey, Hame, Bacon, tomato, and lettuce, served with this really hot Chipotle mayo. This place is phenomenal. I was nervous that it would be some sort of elitist place and I always go in after Yoga up the street at PuraVegan, so I'm never dressed nicely. The owners are really nice and energetic people who have always welcomed me and helped me if I have had any questions without badgering me into anything. I have a hard time not ordering the omelette every time, & I also tried some salads and several different smoothies. Everything has always been phenomenal, and my vegan friends can always find something here as well. I haven't been at a busy time, but I would imagine everything would take longer since it's only two people freshly preparing everything, so you may want to plan extra time if you are looking only for a quick snack, but definitely make plans to try it! :) read more

They have a decent sized menu with various sandwiches and a nice looking coffee machine. My bf got a Cali Sandwich and I got the BLT. I also ordered a latte. He ordered a banana peanut butter shake. Everything was tasty and totaled about 25 bucks. Could be a bit cheaper, could also be more expensive. There were some students sitting around; a few people came in from the apartment building; and a mother with her two small sons were seated at a table nearby. I was enjoying my food and my company but otherwise bored as the mother and sons were leaving. One boy said, "But I need some water!" The mother replied, "That's good because there's plenty outside!" It made me, my boyfriend, and the owner laugh. I like this place because it's cute, cozy, and the food is decent. I loved the scene of this little place. I went for brunch on a nice Saturday morning. There was no wait and plenty of space inside and out. The workers were very nice and prompt when serving you. My boyfriend and I ordered the Monty omelet and it did not disappoint. It is probably 1.5 servings big! It tasted wonderful. I also liked their coffee--bold taste. While the food was fine, I was incredibly disappointed with the unethical quantity of waste produced with our meals. Each meal was served on a disposable plate with disposable utensils and disposable containers for sauces/syrups/sides. Also, all drinks came in disposable cups or plastic bottles.
