Couch Potato Omelette with a side of hashbrowns

Ordered breakfast by phone for pick up on Friday morning. Service was very accommodating with changes while ordering and took payment info over the phone. It was good that I ordered pick-up since all of their outdoor tables were already occupied. To be pandemic-safe, I picked up from the front of the building- and since the order only took about 15min, they knew who I was before I even had to introduce myself at the door. I signed for payment outside and they handed off the fully packaged meals, and off I went. Flavors for the eggs and French toast were excellent. Very filling, very hearty, very well seasoned and tasty. The whip cream didn't hold up well in the to go box with the hot French toast- they might be able to put whip cream and/or strawberries in a foam cup to help preserve coolness- but that may need to be tested. I wish the syrup had been real maple syrup, but it definitely had the high fructose flavor. The candies were a cute bonus to find at the bottom of the to go bag!

What a fun spot tucked away in the lobby adjacent to an apartment building. The charm of the open kitchen concept and family run establishment as well as the various seating options make this feel like home instantly. You place your order at the front and then go sit and wait for them to bring you some magical fresh and flavorful food that was made right in front of you. If you blink you may miss it because the staff is so well organized they create French toast masterpieces and coffee concoctions that would amaze you and quickly! The space is perfect for a quick stop with friends or a more leisurely stay with a good book. You have a great space with great staff taking care of you for breakfast or lunch!

I went to this place around 9:45am on a Sunday. When I came in, I couldnt really tell if we had to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. It took a while for someone to come seat me... but not before they tell me all the places I couldn't sit because it was just me and they didnt want me sitting anywhere that had more than 2 seats..."to save space for the crowds if they came in".. Anyway...you order at the front and they bring you your food. The food was just OK. It kind of reminded me of going to a family member's house out of town and them cooking me breakfast. There was not anything about it spectacular or completely overwhelming, however I wasn't underwhelmed either. It has your basic breakfast foods, omelets, French toast, breakfast sandwiches... I just didn't see anything on the menu that appeared to be a standout item. I decided on the French toast and coffee for my meal. They were out of coffee except for decaf at 9:45 a.m.!!! The French toast was good I ordered some extra toppings and tried to jazz it up a little bit. It was just OK as I stated it was nothing that was superbly overwhelming. I would go again for the simple fact that I'm pretty certain I will get a basic breakfast that will fill my stomach. However if you are looking for a good jazzy breakfast spot on a Sunday morning I would not recommend this place. It's good for the community that it's in... it's a small little cafe and I don't think that they're trying to be more than what they are so... I think it's nice.

Amazing hospitality and great food. It's so relaxing here and I wish I lived closer so i can enjoy the food and the hospitality more. The steamed green tea matcha was delicious! The salmon and bagel- AMAZING! The portion was big so i had to bring mine back to enjoy at lunch time. Not complaining tho!

#23 on The 25 Places to Eat in STL in 2017. That is according to the Yelp Blog and now that I have been, I couldn't agree more. This is a relatively small cafe, with a big personality. It definitely is a neighborhood spot, that welcomes outsiders with open arms. I left the neighborhood before 2Schae opened, but if I still lived directly across the street, I'd be here every morning. I was impressed that much. I knew about 2Schae, but thought it was just a "coffee shop". I had no idea that they had such an extensive menu for breakfast and lunch. The large variety of omelettes available, just blew my mind. In addition to all the ones that they create, you can also select your own ingredients and they'll make one specially for you. One of my favorite vegetables is Asparagus and I'm a fan of Goat Cheese. So when I saw them with bacon and sun dried tomatoes in the French Quarter Omelette, I knew that one was for me. It was a three egg omelette filled with small pencil stem asparagus, the most flavorful kind in my opinion and rich creamy Goat Cheese. The bacon was crisp and sun-dried tomatoes were cut into little strips. Great presentation and the four flavors blended together wonderfully. It was so huge, I brought half of it home is a true, "Doggie Bag" that is eco-friendly. The coffee they serve is Wildhorse, which is from a local vendor. I like it when a local business supports another. At their condiment counter, they offered both skim and half & half for those who need a little cream in their coffee. 2Schae is divided in to two sections, with an open working kitchen in the middle. On one side you have small tables and chairs and on the other is plush chairs and sofas and a counter in front of the window. Either side is relaxing and work friendly. Mr & Mrs Schaeffer (owners) are very hospitable and were thrilled to here that I came in because of the Yelp Top 25. Will I return? - Gotta try lunch. A great little neighborhood eatery. They are small but the service is awesome! You get a feeling like you're in a local diner. I ordered French toast and a veggie scramble. Very tasty! Several menu items to pick from and you can order breakfast all day! In order to get to the restrooms you must step into the hall area of the building but it's still attached and not far..Just on the other side of the dining area.

Front door was locked, making you enter the apartment building and sitting at a table in the lobby. Odd sitting at a table with residents coming off elevators with their dogs The server seemed to have had too much caffeine. He was walking so much among the four tables and constantly asking questions that it made us feel anxious. Food was not that great. Had the corner Cristo which was soggy and lacking flavor. Asked for crispy bacon and was not.

This place should meet all of your check-list if you are a student or professional looking for a place to do work while brunching! 1) People are friendly. I know we are in the mid-west, but it's extra nice here. 2) Free wifi 3) Texas Toast French Toast with fruit and WARM syrup 4) Omelets. Omelets. Omelets 5) Smoothies and Coffee (the coffee is no Blue Print, but better than some others and free refills) What to do? Order at the counter, grab a seat and they will find you. FYI - you are not allowed to eat on the couches in the back, but I would prefer to sit outside on a nice day anyways.

They have the best Matcha Green Tea Latte!! OMG! I liked their simple menu. That 2shae toast is a treat. Share with a friend of you have to. It's small and seating is limited but you will enjoy your food.

What a great locals breakfast spot! My friend was visiting from Ohio so we walked down to breakfast. Staff is vey very friendly. We both ordered the 2schae toast and loved it. We both felt full but light and we hit the museums without getting hungry until late afternoon. I'll be back to try other items on the menu!

BREAKFAST REVIEW Just your neighborhood cafe with what feels like home cooking and good vibes. Nothing fancy but everything done right. It's run by the nicest couple of empty nesters who wanted to start their own cafe. They live in the neighborhood too and seem to know a lot of the people who stop in. I had the Southwest scramble and I shared an order of French toast with my friends. Both were similar to how I would cook at home and both were delicious. They have a pretty big menu, especially in the egg section, so you'll be able to find something that appeals to you. Prices are really reasonable too. I would definitely recommend you stop in!

This one did, so I walked over from the restaurant where we were after lunch. This is a very pleasant shop with lots of available seating. It just has a rather modern look, and it was very nice and clean. I came up to talk to a friendly barista. The pour over menu was a bit confusing because there wasn't a lot of information directly on the menu, I asked about one pour over because I had never tried a bean of that original before. She had good things to say about it, but she said that, if I wanted something fruity or floral to try Haro Wachu from Ethiopia. It was as if she read my mind because I had been wanting to try a natural processed Ethiopian. I'm really glad I took her suggestion! It was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever tried. I didn't taste so much of a note of fruit in it, but I still loved it! I made sure to make a note of what it was in case I have room for more beans at home and want to order it. So, I do wish it was easier to tell what each pour over was in the menu (They have a lot at reasonable prices!). However, I left there thoroughly impressed with the coffee. If you are out on Delmar Loop, they are definitely worth visiting.

The seating host and servers we met during this experience were very nice. I ordered the mushroom coffee: forest & meadow mushroom medicinal powder, served with a shot of espresso. I received a large, hot mug of beverage with artistic crema decor. Could not discern mushroom flavor save the grit at the bottom of the cup, but I can now say I've tried it. My eggs and salad dish came out next, along with an order of their toasted sourdough bread, butter and jam I ordered (their specialty). Unfortunately, the toast was cold, as was the liquidy fruit jam. Butter was ice cold out of the frig too since it has been forgotten and needed to be retrieved. The small green salad was fresh and tasty, but the two scrambled eggs were cold and rubbery. It was hard to know who was out server because aside from the seating hostess, four more people arrived, one after the other, at varying times to get the meal and forgotten items to our small party of three. I was left feeling that more training and organized timing of meals is needed at this establishment.

Another coffee shop would have pretended to have been in business since the 19th century, before the latte was even invented, but not Crema. It's got *integrity*. Anyway, no one would believe that anything here is older than a year or two. It all new-looking. It has a certain sheen to it, like somewhere where you'd pay $40 for a Yankee Candle at Plaza Frontenac. As I arrived today with members of my running group, an unhoused gentleman was being, erm, questioned out front by 12. He may have spent the night in the lobby of this apartment building. It just so happened to be right as Crema was opening. Did they report him to the authorities? Should they have given him a job sweeping the sidewalk out front like the wise old neighborhood drunk in the movie Do the Right Thing, the lovable old James? Instead of bringing him downtown, the police merely confiscated his drugs and sent him on his way. (I hope he wasn't late for work.) I wonder what they do with those drugs. I've seen the movie Bad Lieutenant. I didn't know whether to be disappointed or relieved that this place doesn't carry a burrito. I love a burrito more than I love most people, but maybe this is not the place to get a burrito. But I figured I probably couldn't go wrong with a breakfast sandwich. You can't make a bad breakfast sandwich. Even a Breakfast Jack is a good breakfast sandwich. They certainly charge a premium for their breakfast sandwich. I figured this would be a situation where they charge you money out the ass for hardly any food. I was willing to take the hit anyway, for the sake of citizen food journalism, and also because I'd just run umpteen miles. Come to find out, this thing is roughly the size of a football. Its appearance is more along the lines of a torta, the hefty sandwiches from which portly Hispanic girls get their nickname. Alas, it was just okay. The croissant was ginormous but of middling quality. If it were the same size and as rich as the croissants at Comet Coffee, it would be roughly 10,000 calories, so that may have been for the best. The bacon tasted oddly similar to a Ball Park hot dog, in both a good and bad way. They give you plenty of it, but I suspect they still come out ahead. The eggs would have been fine if they'd been salted. In theory, the salt from the bacon and the cheese would have carried over to the eggs, but I don't know if I have a refined enough palate for that to be the case. I approve of a Breakfast Jack, after all. I'm willing to accept the fact that the Horchata Latte may have just been a bad order on my part. I may have needed to specify some type of syrup so that it was sweeter than it was and I didn't realize that, because what do I know about fancy coffee drinks? Or I might just not like horchata, with which I have minimal experience. They carry a gooey butter cake latte, and I should have gone with that. It was calling my name the way crack calls the guy they called the cops on. Which brings me to the Gooey Butter Cake Edges, which caught my eye in the pastry case, as if my sandwich and drink alone weren't caloric enough. I like gooey butter cake (natch), and I like the idea of "cake edges." Would this be along the lines of those brownies that are all corners? It kinda was, except that the crust wasn't quite as crisp as you'd like it to be. I don't think these were the actual edges of a gooey butter cake. They may have just been leftover cake batter baked into strips. It was still delicious, because it was gooey cake. The actual gooey butter cake may have been better. Again, I'm willing to take credit for what may have been a mistake on my part. Like the lovable old James, we all make mistakes sometimes. Crema has only been around for a few years, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time until they get their few issues ironed out. The decor is already top notch.
