This place is absolutely family friendly and such a win if you have kids. The train delivery system stole the show and honestly the kids could have sat there watching it run food to every table for hours without getting bored. Good food, relaxed vibe, and a built in experience that makes it way more than just a meal.

Update: I surprised my granddaughter by bringing her here. Although the food is the same goodness, the service is now poor. We were not served utensils, and when I asked for some, the waitress brought 1 teaspoon and 1 fork, unwrapped, placing them plainly on the table. Also, the waiter placed us in a booth which has a bench with broken springs. It hurt my bottom! When I pointed it out to the waitress, she said she knew it was broken. Towards the end, I told the waiter who had placed us in that booth. He also knew about the broken bench, but didn't express any regret for putting us there. Not good. Thus, my 5-star rating has been downgraded.

Train bringing tasty food to our table.

Great fun for kids (regardless of age) and good food delivered by electric trains. Sumptuous handmade milk shakes to complement the tasty burgers and fries. Great railroad atmosphere situated close to the actual Chicago Metra trains that whiz by outside. Service was friendly and prompt without feeling hurried. Strong recommend.

I asked for extra pickles and they understood the assignment! Super cute place to dine in with kids, the train delivers the food. It has an old school diner vibe and it's right next to a Metra train station. The food was good, what you'd expect at a diner burgers, shakes, etc. Overall great experience for littles! Staff was great from walking in, getting seated and service throughout.

This is a review as a satisfied parent for making my kid's birthday dinner fun, exciting and memorable. My 4 year old son loved it here. I'd say he was a good age to be entertained here well. Any older, it might be okay, but it wouldn't be that thrilling. The food comes on a train. No matter where you sit, the train will always pass by your table. We chose to sit at the counter top so that my son can get a good view of the train. Some other tables are booths, so only the people closest to the counter can see it up close. The food was better than expected (I had 0 expectations). We got burgers. The burger meat was the smashed burger type, the thing meat you'd expect to see at maybe .. steak and shake? The burger was not bad, but we were mostly just there for the train. My kids were taking a bathroom break when our food chugged its way to us. But the friendly staff was kind enough to let it sit there until they came back so they could see it. My son's favorite was the happy birthday song they played everytime the train sent out a little cupcake for someone's birthday. He especially loved the "Toot toot!" sound made in the middle of each song. Kids get a little cupcake with a toy whistle on top for their birthday! You're supposed to sign up online for the kids club. But I probably didn't do this early enough, didn't get an email yet. But again, they were kind enough to still let my son have this for his birthday. This is a very kid-friendly restaurant. Actually, everyone eating there with us was there for a birthday, so we kept hearing the fun happy birthday song played over and over. They also had a stack of kid's boosters too for kid's to use if needed.

This restaurant has been at this location for 12 years. They bring the tourism of downtown Chicago dining to the suburbs with their stylish interior and train track. Although they are currently not serving inside dining due to COVID restrictions they are still an entertaining place to see. So once you get back from the frills and into the eating experience you will be overjoyed to see they have a great menu of burgers and so much more! I ordered the double cheese burger. Sounds typical huh? Well, its not! These guys know a lot about flipping burgers I've got to say! Out of this world tasting grass fed beef patties on a fresh bun with all the trimmings. Their patties are cooked to perfection with some special secret to make the edges crispy and great tasting! And it comes with fries that are also delicious. We received a complimentary Apple Pancake with our order. OMG! It was soooo good! After 12 years in business they are struggling due to COVID restrictions slowing down traffic flow. So help a great place stay afloat and patronize them today!

The atmosphere hits that perfect sweet spot, warm, welcoming, and buzzing with just enough energy to make you feel like you found the place. Cozy without trying too hard, friendly without being fake, and full of that comforting breakfast chaos that somehow makes coffee taste better. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and somewhere between the first bite and the shamefully aggressive scraping of the plate, I experienced personal growth. These weren't sad, cafeteria biscuits fighting for survival under mystery gravy. No. These biscuits showed up with confidence. Fluffy, buttery little clouds carrying gravy so rich and comforting it could probably talk me through my taxes and unresolved childhood issues. By bite three, I was mentally canceling my responsibilities and considering forwarding my mail to Glenn Oak. The dangerous part? I looked around and realized everyone else seemed equally possessed by whatever culinary wizardry is happening in that kitchen. Suddenly ordering one thing felt irresponsible. If the biscuits and gravy hit this hard, what else are they hiding back there? Glenn Oak is the kind of place that makes you want to tell everyone you know... and absolutely nobody at the same time because waiting longer for a table sounds emotionally devastating. 10/10. I had the pick two, which was a half a sandwich (grilled cheese) with a half salad (kale Caesar). The salad was so good! Fresh, crisp and lightly dressed. However, the grilled cheese was pretty sad. I opened it up and there was hardly any cheese. It was just like eating two pieces of grilled bread. They need to improve on that for sure. I also had their 12oz wildflower latte which was very tasty, but served lukewarm and not hot. If the milk is not steamed, it will bring down the temperature of the coffee. I like my specialty coffees served hot. I do have to say every staff member we came in contact with was friendly. They seemed happy and were there to help and answer questions. You place your order at the counter, and you receive a number which you display at your table. There are two dining areas with tables and a few booths to dine at next to where you place your order. Members of the staff bring your order to the table. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks and food. Even with the sad grilled cheese sandwich which was disappointing and the lukewarm latte, I would definitely go back to Blackberry Market again to try other items on their menu. I'll pass on the grilled cheese, though.

We ordered half biscuits and gravy, stuffed French toast, and sweet hot fried chicken and waffles. I'm not quite sure why my half order of biscuits and gravy took about 22 mins to make. It was faster at other places. They were good, not amazing. We received the main entrees a few minutes later. They were huge portions. I got my fried chicken on the mild side because I didn't know how spicy they make it. The mild version was still good. They were easy to cut and tangy. The waffles were firm but soft. The stuffed French toast was loaded with cream cheese inside and I like the generous amount of fresh fruit. Overall, the experience is like a solid 4.

If you decide to come anyway, know that they provide no seating for waiting customers. This dump is standing room only. They have (kind of, to be generous) a couple of options for vegans. Their hashbrowns are made with canola oil, and by default only, they are vegan. They serve a very bad fruit cup at a very high price. If you bring your own vegan butter, their toast and English muffin are options as well. Vegetarians do well at any breakfast diner. There's also an enormous selection of pies, worth checking out next time. Basically it's an old-fashioned diner with a giant menu and a few vegetarian options - also apparently a liquor license as they serve wine. It's not as charming inside as outside (dropped ceiling, a couple of TVs) but if you like diners you'll feel at home. Real butter and half-and-half (with a few flavored creamers) on the table. We got a vegetarian omelet, the Eggs Florentine, and a hot fudge banana split. Service was fine. Toast is served dry so you can pick how much to butter, which I appreciate. The omelets are 3-egg, heavy on the vegetables, and the Eggs Florentine had probably a whole tomato sliced and broiled and a good half-cup of spinach. Food is very mildly seasoned, but you can get hot sauce if desired. The hot fudge banana split was a vision: as much whipped cream as ice cream, sprinkles - best shared. The strawberry ice cream was notably good and the hot fudge was generous.

It was worth the trip we had to travel a lot better than we used to. I live in Bloomingdale and we usually find places to eat that are 8 to 10 minutes away. We got there I knew what I was getting right away. My friends had to think about it for a while because they had so many different things on the menu--BBQ Ribs, Italian Beef, Souvlaki Chicken or Pork, and more. The dinners were about $20 each--but it was worth every penny--each serving included a Greek Salad, Seasoned Potatoes, and the main entree. I ran into a guy who also recommended the Gyros. My two friends both ordered the Souvlaki Chicken. The chicken was on two skewers. Both of them took home doggy bags because it was a lot of food! Service was great-- the staff was friendly and, even though the customers were to pick up the food themselves, a guy named "Will" helped me by carrying the meals to our table. It appeared that a tip was not expected. As far as ambiance, the dining area was relatively small. There were both seats and chairs, but they also offered outdoor dining. I often judge a restaurant by the condition of their rest rooms. They only had one co-ed bathroom and it needed much attention--unclean and the toilet was clogged with toilet paper. That being said, we will definitely go back there. The gyro plate was as good or better than any other restaurant that makes them.

The young lady at the counter seemed to be having a bad day, at least I hope she was, because if she's like that every day, she shouldn't be working there. She had attitude and was short with us. It wasn't anything she said, but rather, the abruptness with her questions and overall demeanor. If we ordered anything on the side, or asked for something different than what usually comes on a sandwich, she huffed and eye rolled us. It didn't make us feel very welcome. We got a number and sat down and waited. When our food arrived, we were short one soda and a side of vinegar and oil. No worries there. I was taken back a little that we were charged 50 cents for water, $2.50 for one slice of Gouda cheese, and 50 cents for an oil and vinegar cup. There is also a 3% charge for using a credit card. The actual food was better before. My combo sandwich was somewhat bland. I remember the hot dog being bigger before. It went from a deli hot dog to a regular sized one. My wife thought the turkey burger was bigger before as well. Overall, I remember it being more flavorful in the past. My potato salad was still very good. The cannoli pieces were outstanding. The place was fairly crowded being Mother's Day, and the service was pretty quick. Turkey burgers take a while to cook. It's always lively but quiet in the restaurant which I like. I hope this was a one time dud experience, and I will be back, unless the cashier has another bad day, and the food is lacking taste.
