I noticed this place when I was getting Teaspoon one evening. The scent of the place smelled so pungent and in a great hotpot type way! I made a note to come back for the hotpot. I know noise in Chinese restaurants, especially hotpot is common but this place was quite loud when I visited. I had to talk loud in order for my party across the table to hear. Not sure if this was only the case since we were seated on the bottom floor and close to the kitchen area (there's a second floor to the restaurant). To order, you scan a qr code on the table. If you have multiple people in your party, each can scan and look at the menu on their own devices. It will all show under one check per table when you add items. To pay, you can pay directly on your phone or go up to the cashier at the entrance. There is an open sauce bar "buffet" which is an automatic charge of $2 per person. Next to it is a fridge with bowls, little plates, and chopsticks. You can open it and get whatever you need. Napkins are in a little drawer under the table. Broths - we got golden broth and their spicy broth, medium spice. The golden broth tasted like a turmeric ginger; unique but personally wouldn't opt for it next time. There were some peppers in there so there's a kick. The medium spice broth was quite spicy and numbing. The longer you boil the broth, the spicier and numbing it got. It may help to take some of the peppercorns out if it gets too much. Ingredients - everything was fresh, from meats to vegetables to noodles. They have several kinds of tripe too which not a lot of other hotpot places have so if you're a fan, you'll probably appreciate this! read more

This place is awesome. Apparently the Teaspoon owner also has this business from the Chongqing area. One of my fave cuisines! So we made reservations and had a great dinner. High quality meats and nice spicy broth. Lots of selections of things I was unfamiliar with...beef, lamb, meatballs Ive bern mostly eating only outside so this was the first attempt at eating indoors. You have to make a resy and it is very well spaced out. I definitely am not ready for any inside dining than what they are limiting to here. Friendly service and very accommodating . It's a soft open still with lots of changes in the dining regulations so go in with expectations accordingly read more

Happy birthday, Martin!! *Review is for pre-soft opening. Kinks to work out still, but had a 5star experience tonight! And yes - the Teaspoon was moved in here! It's on the first floor to your right, but they are not operating yet because they are still going through inspection. (But how amazing is it to order boba and hotpot in the same place?! It's a genius business tactic.) It took probably about 5 calls over the period of 3 days to finally get someone on the phone without having to go in person and reserve a spot. I heard about this place through word of mouth, and after some simple googling, saw this place is a chain from Chongqing, China! Prior to coming, I received 2 different text messages to remind me of my reservation. I can see them utilizing this when it gets extremely busy! Side note: my party was about 20 min late to our 6pm reservation on a Friday night, and we were not dinged for it? Hopefully they enforce something in the future, when things get really busy! After you sit down, you'll notice a plastic apron at every spot, and there is a QR code at every table - this eliminates the usage of paper menu, and they even provide free WiFi since reception for me was quite terrible. They strongly recommend you add the orders all on one phone, since the QR code takes you to a webpage that is specific to the phone. Using too many phones will cause confusion with ordering/final bill at the end. Tip to the biz: maybe just have one QR code at the end of the table, instead of 2 on either side? If you want people in the same party to just use 1 phone, indicate it underneath the WiFi password! Pro tip: once you arrive, order your soup base first. It took about 30 min for us to get it. We got the "Marvelous Soup" - you can pick up to 3 bases for one pot. We opted for 1 chicken belly broth, 1 fungi broth, and 1 mild spicy beef fat broth. +1 the spicy gets spicier as you get to the bottom! It was the type of mala I was looking for - and reminded me so much of my time in China!! Love it! +1 fungi broth was super umami flavor. It was great! Light and but fragrant enough if you want to eat healthier +/-1 I was okay with the chicken belly broth. I was expecting it to be a bit richer, but it's probably a good go-to if you typically get the half/half pots Pro tip: there is a buzzer on the side of your table if you need to get someone's attention! (we didn't need it since the place was only like 15% capacity, but I like the idea). We ordered a variety of meats and vegetables. Some things that stood out: +1 soft beef! This came out first, but also the meat dish I was most excited about. It reminded me of my hotpot experience in China, and it's not easy to find a place that prepares beef this way! +1 cuttlefish balls! Helllaaaa good! I don't think I've ever had it before, but it was so fresh, and had a tofu like texture. +1 sliced basa fish fillet! I typically don't eat fish, but Martin said their seafood is good - and I agree! They found a great supplier (though I heard they got stuff from HMart at one point). +1 crispy pork! Okay - I forgot to take a picture because I was too hungry. This should have came out first tbh, since it's an appetizer. +1 boneless duck feet! I've never had this before, and it was surprisingly pretty good?! It kind of reminds me of a beef tripe. +1 handmade shrimp paste! YUM!!! This was really yummy! I loved it. We ordered the "special ice jelly" at the end, but by then they already sold out. I hear it's delicious - make sure you try it when you come! Pro tip: sauce bar, sauce bowls, and chopsticks in the back of the second floor! PSA if anyone cares...they have extra long chopsticks - perfect for hotpot so you don't go burning yourself! Tip to biz: Selection is quite small right now (but has all the essentials), but it wasn't properly stocked when we came at dinner time (and still wasn't by the time we left). Service: extremely, extremely friendly! Everyone here was super helpful, and doing their best to get our orders to the table. When we wanted our cake at the end, the staff here quickly cleaned and wiped down our table, and brought plates and forks. One of the employees asked us "what flavor is your cake?" To make sure she brought us the right one, HAHAHA. The business owner even stoped by multiple times to check-in and ask how things were, and apologized for the wait time. She mentioned they took on more reservations today to train her team before their soft opening next week. At the end when we were leaving, she even waved goodbye and told us to be careful with the front door because it was heavy and needs to be fixed, haha! Overall, I had a great experience here! Very poor business model. Minimum spending requirement is unreasonable, just a scam for the owner to milk more money. Ordered 6 rounds of food, spent 3 hours of just eating, and only met half the quota. They make you pay the remaining out of pocket. We went on Sunday for lunch, and the lunch special(broth is not included) is only from Mon- Fri. We ordered half and half as the base mild spicy( special butter and Chicken&pork), beef satay, beef&lamb combo, veggies plate, frozen tofu... etc Sauce bar is open and you can make your own special sauce, and I like their sesame balls that are on the sauce bar as well. Unfortunately, the meat wasn't that great, it's pretty thin and overpriced. Mild spicy is really spicy already so if you can't take spicy very well, I would recommend to set mild spicy is the limit. Veggies wasn't fresh. Overall, I don't think I will come back for their hot pot again because there are other options. read more

We dined in at 3 Kingdoms at the recommendation of a friend. This is an absolutely authentic and spectacularly spicy Chongqing hotpot. The owner also owns Teaspoon downstairs so you can order bubble tea at the same time - the perfect combination. There wasn't a wait when we came on a Friday night, but naturally this will change as people increasingly dine in. I highly recommend getting little spicy to start. I absolutely love spicy food and consider myself pretty good at handling spice, but the little spicy here is more than sufficient and flavorful. They also have karaoke rooms here for people who want book a private room. Call ahead to reserve! However, the sound proofing isn't great so we had to listen to a lot of live singing as we dined upstairs. I would absolutely come here again. Interesting food, but as a first timer, it was a bit intimidating. There were a lot of busy bodies going to and fro, but none to greet the new guests and explain what we need to do to get a table. I had made a reservation online, but when I arrived, there was absolutely no one to inquire about how to check in. After quite a bit of time, the host finally appeared and we were seated upstairs. I liked that the dining hall was open yet the tables felt private. I'm not sure if that makes sense... Anyways, with the help of a really patient and friendly server, we were able to order. Folks, let me tell you. When they say spicy broth, they really mean SPICY. Even their mild version is off of a different chart from another time and space so be careful. Otherwise, you will end up with a major BTS(no, not the k-pop singers), the Burning Toosh Syndrome. The flavor of the broth was too strong for my taste, but if your tastebuds are more on the adventurous side, you may appreciate the authentic flavors of this place. Thanks for your direct response, Kyle, finally. Not sure how I can respond to your comments, so I'll just write an update. You can have all your employees and friends pretending to be customers misled people on LittleRedBook, but I have to clarify a few things here. First of all, I was never complaining that we cannot have Jiugongge soup base sitting outside. The first waiter had explained the reason to us nicely, so we just switched to sit inside without saying a word. Second, when we went upstairs, we sat in a small room, with only 4 tables (including us), and we stayed no more than 15 min in total, by the time we left, those 3 tables were still eating, and I didn't say anything while walking out, I don't think people who are sitting outside could hear what happened in that small room. Your comments about we made you lost 10 tables due to our loud voice and without wearing mask is obviously another misleading point to other people. Third, my family and I, including our little girl, were all wearing masks while we were not at our table in the public area. The person you were talking about, who was not wearing mask, and had inappropriate gesture to the waitress when he left the room, is just a friend that we were eating with. He is an adult, to whom I have neither control of nor any responsibility of his own behavior. This is my personal review talking about my experience and how I felt at your restaurant, you cannot accuse ME for what other people did just because we tried to have lunch together. Not to mention that I had no idea of what he did, since I walked out the room first, I do not have eyes on my back, and again, it's not a super quiet environment, except random environment noise, I couldn't hear anything clearly when there's some distance apart. Last but not least, the main reason why we were not happy is because YOUR WAITRESS HAS NEVER LISTENED TO US. There are times when people go to a restaurant and would want to have some customization or some special request for different reasons, not all the times the request can be accommodated by the restaurant, I totally understand that, and am totally fine with it. But at least you can say "no" directly and give me a reason, then we can talk about other options. But the fact is, your waitress had never answered our questions directly, even I asked million times, loudly, as you say, to make sure she heard me. Instead, she just kept pushing us into different options that are easier for her to accommodate, looking like she was trying to solve the problem, but without directly answer my questions at all. Maybe to your standard, that's good customer service, but that's not how I consider "being polite". Again, reviews are all subjective to each one's own feeling, you cannot just "attack" people because my standard is different than yours. I love Yelp, because it's a fair platform, where people can share their very own personal experiences and opinions without being easily manipulated like some other Chinese platforms.
