Egg Cheese Sandwich: It came out hot, but the bagel wasn't cut all the way through. The eggs tasted good. Turkey Bacon Sandwich: This is a good sandwich with turkey, bacon, tomato, and cheese. A little too heavy handed on the mustard though. And it definitely would have tasted better on a potato roll. They also have a reward card that gets stamped for every purchase you make. I can't believe I never came here in all the years I've lived in Long Beach. My boyfriend started coming and would grab a bagel and Thai tea ever so often. I never paid much attention or got anything. Once I tried a bite of his bagel that all changed. I became a fan and now I go order stuff on my own. I love this small local mom and pop place. I walk my dogs at 5am so I see them getting everything ready and setting out the freshly baked goods. I was super impressed with the bagel because it's not hard or dense when you bite into it. It's warm, fresh, chewy, and got a crisp on the outside of it. They really don't hold back on the cream cheese either. It's smothered on so you don't have to worry about not having enough cream cheese. We always get their Thai teas here because my we think it's better than the places around here. Today I got a carrot/orange pressed juice and a banana muffin. I love how little caramelized slices of banana are found throughout the muffin. I also grabbed a bacon, egg, cheese breakfast bagel with the everything bagel. It has been my go to since they ran out of bagels to choose from so they gave us that one. Glad they ran out so we could try the everything bagel. Please support this local business. They really put care into their baked goods and make quality bagels. I loved this place so I decided to bring my husband in Saturday morning and it was a bad experience for his first time he bought a caramel latte I believe and the woman (about 20s) behind the counter called out his drink and another one at the same time and placed them right next to each other. My husband didn't want to touch the drinks because COVID so he asked the woman which one was his. She proceeded to walk over visibly annoyed and instead of just telling him which one it was, she turned the drink around and pointed to the name pretty much saying "can't you read". It looked like she kind of rolled her eyes and walked away before my husband could say thank you or sorry because we didn't know the name of the drink was written on there. I have always enjoyed a sandwich from 5th Ave for lunch, which did not disappoint. This is not about the food, but the appearance of disrepair in the store. With COVID, I have been working from home and not had much opportunity to eat there until last week. I understand that COVID has complicated things, but... the state of cleanliness - or lack there of - nearly caused me to walk out after ordering. The dirty coffee carafe stands near the condiments, the dirtiness on the side of the refrigerator unit, the accumulation of dust on top of the bagel display, and dirty the floor and base boards are just some of the things I noticed. And, the updates to menu board prices looks awful. I can't help but wonder at the level of care behind the counter, which is enough to keep me out until I see improvement. read more

The store is locally owned, and their service is always quick and friendly. These bagels take me back to New Jersey. There's an assortment of bagel choices: rainbow, egg, works, jalepeño, raisin, and many many many more. They also have different spreads. The bagels come w cream cheese or as a sandwich of your choice. The menu is huge! So many options, even in the drink category. The Exotic Excuse smoothie is one of my favorites-- you'll love it if you like bananas. Pricing here is totally reasonable and the sandwiches are the perfect size. Sandwiches also come with a soft drink. My chicken salad sandwich meal below was a little over $7. Not bad at all. Pro tip: try to arrive before the brunch rush to avoid them being out of a specific kind of bagel or chicken if that's something you're going for. Today was my fourth visit to 5th Ave Bagelry. I ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese,LOX, red onion,capers, and tomato. On my three previous visits I ordered the same thing, and it was made properly. Today's order wasn't made properly there was small pieces of lox mixed in with the cream cheese and zero capers. What happened today, did you run out of Nova? Why did you substitute lox flavored cream cheese and believe I or any other customer wouldn't notice? It's extremely noticeable, this should be the takeaway from my comment; don't engage in subterfuge, if you don't have the smoked salmon, say so. Give us the option to say yes I'll take it or no I'll get something else. And to top it off, you charged me the same amount that a bagel with lox would cost.
