85 is one of my fav bakery chains and I was very happy to see this location open so close to my house. Just stopped in today and was assaulted by a horrible smell! Like even worse than the public restroom at the rest area off the freeway. 2 stars because the baked goods still looks and tastes fresh. Everything else about this location was not pleasant. Two days ago, I ordered a bd cake for a bd party. But somehow the staff put the wrong cake inside the box only to find out the error when we arrived at the party. We had to make do with the wrong cake since this 85 ° is 30 miles away. Yesterday we went back to the store to buy another cake for another party. We mentioned the error to the manager, Kevin, with the intention of just telling them an error was made by their staff the day before and to make sure the correct cake would be placed inside the box this time. Surprisingly, Kevin offered to offset the wrong cake order with our new cake in a very courteous manner. For his great customer service, I am giving a 5 stars review. read more

I am a huge fan of 85 C but unfortunately the customer service at this new location is horrible. I love the Taro bread. I went to the store on Monday and I brought a Taro bread among other goodies. The filling on the Taro was rotten and the bread tasted old ( this is the second time that this happens to me) . On Monday, I told the cashier about my past experiences with quality of the bread and he said, " The bread tastes like that!, there is nothing that I can do, Next client please." I felt ignored. I went home to eat my bread and my coffee but the bread tasted bad. I did not even bother to go back to the store because the gentlemen that was helping me was rude and made feel like a was asking him for free items, almost 30.00 dollars thrown in the trash, outrageous. read more

The king grapefruit tea is absolutely refreshing. The sea salt coffee is yummy and divine. THEN THERES THE BREAD....ladies and gentlemen, the bread is beyond anything else. The coconut pastries, to the half moon almond roles, then let's not forget the brioche are all light and fluffy, tasting like yummy fluffy angel wings. Tried this wonderful bakery for the first time and VERY glad I did!!! Wow, so MANY choices of fresh, super delicious treats. I had the tiny Berry Tart and a slice of Red Velvet cake to go, both astoundingly fantastic. My son tried a slice of Black Forest Cake, which is his fave! The pastry case looks so appetizing I've made a point to get something pretty and tasty! The mango bubble is really yummy and light with a fresh raspberry on top! The French Tart has a really heavy cream so be careful with that one but the crust was really good! The 85 Degrees iced tea is creamy and sweet and never tastes burnt! read more

When I took my normal drive up Chapman to my house I spotted out of the corner of my eye what would give me pure excitement and anticipation for what is one of my favorite bakery's, 85 Bakery Cafe. Normally I'd make the long trek to Irvine to stand in the mile long line for these little bundles of pure happiness but now it's right down the street and today was my first visit! Let's start with the location. Epic! Right on the corner across the parking lot next to In N Out. I walked in to this spacious new location and was instantly greeted by a warm aroma of pastries and cakes and everything heaven must be made of. I grabbed my tray and went to work with what took all but 3 mins until there was no more space on my tray and realized I have to leave before I move in for eternity. I also decided to add a Vanilla Latte and proceeded to check out. I asked for a box for all million pastries I chose and they also threw in a nice little tote and awesome coffee mug that I plan on using first thing in the morning with one of the many incredible pastries I purchased. Once she was done ringing me up I realized the next reason I love these bakeries, they're incredibly well priced!! $28 and some change and you can feed the multitudes! I just have one more thing to say, donut shops on Chapman beware, 85 is here to stay and they've got my full attention! read more

Yay they finally opened an 85 closer to home and just down the street too! Whenever I go to Chinese bakeries, I usually always buy the pineapple bun, "bo lo bao". ("Bo lo" means pineapple and "bao" means bun.) Despite the name, it does not contain pineapple; It's because the top layer resembles the texture of a pineapple. 85 has their version of a pineapple bun which they call "Borah Danish". It's pretty good but I don't usually get it from here because the top layer of their pineapple bun often times look burnt. Don't confuse it with the "Borah Cream Danish", that one has a milk butter cream filling. I haven't tried that yet because I don't usually like bread with butter cream fillings. The "Chocolate Cookie Bread" is topped with a crunchy sweet Oreo cookie crumbs layer. It's lightly sweet and taste like a soft and fluffy chocolate bread. It's good but not my usual picks. The "Coconut Twist" is a sweet bread with coconut filling and raisins, topped with sliced almonds. I didn't like it one bit. The "Vanilla Chiffon Cake" which is described as "a soft, moist vanilla chiffon cake made with real vanilla bean that brings out a delicious flavor." It sounds better than it tastes. The "Salted Butter Bread" is "a golden bread baked with salted butter. Sprinkled with sea salt to make it simply delicious." Tasty but way too oily. The "Butterhorn Bread" is buttery and lightly sweetened. Tasty when fresh, not worth the money, and looks easy to make. The Ham & Cheese" ( A soft bread rolled with ham and American cheese.) My daughter says it's delicious. I purchased the "Sea Salt Coffee" on grand opening day which was 10 cents for a medium. It tastes good but I don't crave it enough to buy it again...I still need to try the "Iced Sea Salt Jasmine" though; I've heard it's really good. My all time favorite is the Brioche bread. I recommend you try the Brioche bread if you haven't already; You will definitely come back for more! It is fluffy, sweet, "soft, moist and rich". I've only been lucky to get this straight out of the oven once and that's when it's the best; The bread is so hot and fresh and the top layer is still crunchy! I bought four that day and I gulped down two all by myself! Don't wait too long on eating it though because the top layer does get soggy after a couple of days. read more

I have been to a fair amount of locations of 85°C and my trip to this location has to be one of best. There was a consistent flow of people but the line moved very fast. I ordered a tea and it was ready after I barely sat down. I couldn't believe the impeccable service. Compared to the Irvine store which is closer to my home this location is so much more pleasant to come into. I didn't feel rushed, I felt well taken care of. I would like to take the time to say thank you to Melissa and her excellent service and suggestions on drinks and desserts. She took the time to explain the difference between certain cakes and ultimately helped me out a lot. This will be one of my regular stops whenever I am in Orange. read more

I love pastries, but 85 C was a disappointment. I got several pastries, such as the Mango pastry and cinnamon roll. They were so dry and tasteless. The consistency was just gross. I didn't even have a Yelp account before going to this place, but my bad experience just made me want to tell others about it. They have great presentations, but the food honestly sucks. Ordered a mango birthday cake in advance for my 4 year old daughter for her birthday and arrange pick up the next day at 11:30am. Arrived and been told sorry no mango cake available. Asked me to switch otherwise wait until 2:30pm. So I switched because my daughters birthday party is 1:30. I got the cake and didn't find my daughters name on the cake which I have confirmed with them in reservation. My daughter really want her name on cake, she has been expecting since I told her. So I ask the staff there to put my daughters name on it because that's what I ordered. She ask me to wait for 10 min. End up waiting there for another 30 min. Asked the staff how long is going to be? She said she is busy because the line is long. No time to write a name for me. Excuse me?! Wrong cake, no birthday girls name, keeping us waiting for nothings and really bad attitude, all of these really don't make sense to me. I used to go to 85 Degrees in Chino Hills area. I moved to Orange County and got amazed by seeing 85 Degrees very close to my home. When I entered, the ambiance is still the same as other 85 Degrees I have been to. That's really appreciatable. Food tastes so good. Especially Chocolate bread, I liked it a lot. read more

I love their sea salt coffee. It's an Americano with their sea salt foam that taste a bit like the cheese foam in boba drinks. They have a bogo special on Mondays. I always go by myself to grab a cup of coffee so this deal doesn't work for me. I wish it was a 1/2 deal. That would be sweet! The employees have always been courteous whenever I go and they've always been very accommodating whenever I ask for extra foam. read more
