Not sure if it was the dishes I got but everything was just okay. I saw a lot of hype for this place on TikTok and heard many good things. It wasn't really mind blowing but I do appreciate that the katsu doesn't have a greasy feel in your throat. Rice to meat ratio was a bit off and sides were also okay. Workers were cleaning up a bit so I smelled strong bleach while I was eating, not the most appetizing experience. Service was good but I'm not sure why this place gets so packed on weekends. Went yesterday for lunch. Little Asian girl was serving us. My food was 6/10, katsu was good but the curry could have been better. box curry tasted better and more flavorful. My friend got the spicy tonkatsu. She didn't like it much. The sauce was on top of the katsu which made it soggy and she said it had a weird taste. She asked if she can just get a regular one. The server gave her an attitude. "The manager wouldn't consider exchanging the dish for you. We don't do that but we will do it this time. You will have to wait until alllll of our order is done first to get yours." Umm okay, weird. So you won't exchange food we weren't satisfied with and then you want to keep us here longer to wait for our food. We asked for it to go. We didn't want to deal with the attitude that was given. So if someone isn't satisfied, you won't replace it? Not sure what kind of business this is. Not coming back. read more

Got takeout. They left out the soup on all 4 orders. Rice is not good, which is wild for a Korean spot. It's hard and feels dry. They need to get one of those big rice cookers or change their rice. Tonkatsu is burnt from old oil. Cheese katsu is 95% cheese, 5% pork. Pretty impressive how thick they got the cheese, and how thin they got the pork. Give 2 star because of order tab. We arrived but order tab didn't work. seating about 15 min. And found our order did not placed. So we have to order again....... I get Hangry. It been 30 min. Tried the jumbo katsu, Japanese katsu and the udon (for my toddler). The food is decent, typical Korean style katsu, a little elevated with the sides and presentation. The dipping sauces are good and so are all the sides (kimchi and jalapeños). The udon broth was too sweet for me and the noodles a little undercooked. The sweetest udon I've ever had (and I've tried many) so I wouldn't order it again. The service was ok. I ordered the udon for my toddler and asked for extra bowls and they brought out ceramic ones (i guess he doesnt mind cleaning up a shattered bowl? lol) so I asked again for plastic or something that won't break and the guy responded saying they don't have plastic bowls. But then another worker saw me struggle and I asked him if he had non breakable bowls, and he brought out small plastic blue bowls that were child friendly. So I'm just confused why the first guy said they don't plastic bowls? I feel like I got a few annoyed looks from the staff so maybe they didn't like having little kids there. They were attentive to some tables (maybe they were ppl they know) but not to ours. In their defense, I don't like cleaning after kids either, but I did clean up as much off the floor as I could before leaving so I don't feel that it was warranted. The server even seemed caught off guard when I just asked for to-go container. I might try it again, but I'll probably stick to lucky pig in Whittier. read more

It was our first time visiting and we LOVED it! My wife got the pork katsu curry and I got the spicy tonkatsu with extra curry on the side. Everything was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were huge! I normally finish the food and clean the plate but I was stuffed after half! The restaurant was tastefully decorated, I couldn't stop looking at the retro tv in the front. To top it off the service was exceptional. Attentive and quick. Food was excellent but customer service was even more top notch. My wife likes cold udon and does not really enjoy the normal hot udon. We saw this place on Yelp and wanted to try it because I was craving donkatsu and my wife thought she saw cold udon in the pics. Once we got to the restaurant, we realized we were looking at wrong pics and they actually do not have that option. When the owner came by to take our order, he generously offered to make us their soba (cold noodles with tzuyu sauce) with udon noodles for us to try for free. We insisted it was okay, but he went out of the way to let us try that, which actually turned out delicious as well. It's these little things for me that make me a returning customer to a spot. They have their food down for sure (I can say katsu is one of my favorite foods, and I enjoyed their jumbo katsu a lot. Big portions too), but it's the fact that you can leave somewhere feeling good because of excellent service makes this place our new spot for katsu cravings. I know there are a few options in Fullerton/bp area for Korean style katsu, but if you haven't tried this place I strongly encourage you to! Wont be disappointed read more

Don't go if your party has more than 4 people or if you are hungry. They only have two large tables, and they are unwilling to move smaller tables together to accommodate larger parties. They first told us it would be a 20-minute wait, but we ended up waiting for more than 45 minutes. They let 8-10 smaller parties go in front of us without checking in with us or giving us an update. I ordered the 88 Katsu and the spicy katsu and it was so good! The staff is so friendly and it was a great environment. As for the food, the outside of the katsu had just the right amount of crisp and crunch while the inside was so soft and tender. The sauces are also incredible! Saw it on a Yelp list and wanted to try it. Went with GF around noon on a Saturday. Got straight in. Tried the cheese tonkatsu, that was unusually and surprisingly yummy. Also had the 88 Jumbo Tonkatsu, which provided an abundance of Tonkatsu. The restaurant discriminates on sauces, so the jumbo had like a plainer sauce which seemed to have a hint of tomato. The cheese tonkatsu came with the same sauce in addition to a more proper rich, umami-packed glaze that seems common to tonkatsu (that we preferred). The tonkatsu was accompanied by shredded cabbage with a sweet sauce, a bowl of white rice and stylized banchan dishes. Service was efficient and polite and it was a pleasant meal and positive experience. Of note was the funky music playlist and next time, I would try the spicy tonkatsu. Overall an enjoyable tonkatsu meal, though I prefer more Japanese style Tonkatsu vs 88 Tonkatsu's Korean influence. read more
