I've been to several Hawaiian fast food places and they always give huge portions, almost to the point where I can have a second meal later or the box can barely close. My boyfriend went here on 5/23/22 around 1:55pm-2pmish after a gym session at EOS to get an Acai bowl. We were gifted a $25 gift voucher that we got in Hawaii to use and when he tried to redeem it after ordering a bowl, the male employee at the cash register did not recognize it and asked for assistance from another female employee. The female employee also mentioned she didn't recognize it. They both said they were going to ask their GM and both went in the back. Not sure if they actually asked, but they came back out and said the GM also doesn't know what it is. My bf said the male employee tried his best trying to type in the voucher code to see if anything would work. He was helpful and my bf appreciated his efforts (he gets 5 stars), but it seemed like his co-worker didn't want to help and just disregarded the voucher and didn't even want to try to provide a solution. She said to call the Sahara location to see if they will take it. I do want to add that this may not be the employees fault if management hasn't told them about the vouchers or how to process them. If you love loco moco - you need to check this place out! I am a fairly bland eater and don't tend to venture out too much in my selections and I recently discovered loco moco - the perfect combination of my favorite comfort foods. I order it with either scrambled or over easy eggs depending on my mood, the hamburger medium, and remove the green onions leaving the fried onions. The fried onions feature is something I haven't seen offered at other Hawaiian places so I'm not sure if this is the norm or unique to this place, either way it's so delicious! The gravy is sweet and flavorful and the rice is perfectly cooked. We've also tried the kahlua pork, the crispy garlic chicken, and the spicy garlic chicken and all have been delicious. I have been here a few times now and I have such mixed feelings about this place. I have had their breakfast with the eggs, rice and Portuguese sausage a few times now. I have, lately, been enjoying Portuguese sausage for breakfast and so I thought that was going to be the perfect meal for me. I also figured it would be quick to make and easy to eat. Well, I enjoyed my meal but felt like I was also ripped off. I mean, I purchased Portuguese sausage recently and an entire 2 large links was about $9. Here, I think my breakfast was a bit more than $10 and I was only given 5 thin slices of Portuguese sausage with two eggs and a scoop or so of rice. For what it was, I definitely over paid. My buddy ordered a chicken entree. It looked nothing like the picures and actually I think that they received the wrong item all together. I can't be 100% sure but they were too hungry to care and just ate what we retrieved from the counter. The food is good, as far as taste goes, but the prices are NOT so nice. I noticed a lot of folks come in and out for their pity or açaí bowls. That always looks interesting but there are always ingredients that I am allergic to and don't really want to take a risk with cross contamination at all. When you arrive, jump in line and take a look at the menu above the main counter. It can be a tad overwhelming but there is usually a little wait Tim involved. Everything that I have tried so far has been tasty. You'll order at the counter and you'll be given a number. Although I've only ever dined in, I've always had to be the one who picked up my own food from the counter whereas I have seen some folks orders being brought to them. So, for me, the service I receive here really is what I provide and the attitude they have when they take my order. And again, as far as cost is concerned, I think this spot is a tad overpriced, even for me (and I live in Los Angeles). As far as cleanliness in here, I haven't really had a major issue but I have gone to the drink fountain to fill my cup only to find that the counter tops were completely sticky because of spilled something or rather and I did notify the staff but they didn't do anything about it right away. I also let the staff know that the floors were wet from ice that had been dropped all over the floor. Nobody came to clean it up or mop the floor right away. I mentioned to them it was a potential slip/fall hazard but the girl behind the counter kinda gave me this sort of "yeah yeah, Mom" kinda attitude like I was nagging her over something that wasn't important. I didn't like that at all but I thought, maybe I was bothering her and she was just busy dealing with orders being picked up. I'm not sure. I would like to see hand sanitizer on table tops. That would be nice. I also wish that they would empty their trash cans more frequently. The trash cans out on the patio attract flies and other bugs when it's hot out and there is food just sitting in there. The same goes for the plates that sit out there on top of the trash receptacles. They need more attention and more regularly. Overall, I have come back because the ambiance here is comfy and feels like your neighborhood coffee shop type of place. I see families and regulars who come here. Parking can.be a tad tricky but only because this lot gets very full with folks who are going to the UPS store, Capriotti's for sandwiches or some who are going to the next door cost co. For some reason their chicken taste fishy, and all their chicken is Dark Brown like its cooked in Old Oil. I called and asked but they assured me the oil is changed daily. Taste like back Home. I've been to 9th Island Grill twice. The first time my wife got a pitaya bowl (I believe it was the berry good) and this second time around I got the spicy garlic chicken. Not gonna lie, the pitaya bowl and spicy garlic chicken are on point. The flavor reminds me of something I would get back home on Oahu. Portions wise the pitaya bowl is more than enough. I shared the bowl with my wife and sufficed for us. Great mix of toppings. As far as the spicy garlic chicken, it reminded me of garlic chicken that I got at a mom and pop restaurant back on the islands. It was delicious and I would definitely get it again. Pricing, I believe is fair. You go to some places here in Vegas and the açaí type bowls are pricy and not as good.
