This is the second time eating Garlic Ahi. First time I couldn't even taste the garlic so I called to ask. They do some kinda sauce. No actual garlic pieces. They offered another plate. We went there to grind some plate lunches and surprisingly found out they made fruit bowls, poke bowls and mixed fruit drinks. They don't make plain hamburger steak plate lunch so, I settled for the loco-moco. Hamburger patty (1) & gravy was ono topped with French fried onion crispies & the o/e egg. The bottom had 3 scoops rice and Mac salad was OK. My wife ordered the fried rice (mean), the other ordered dishes were kalua pork sandwich (plenty meat, ono umami sauce) and the mixed garlic chicken and chicken katsu (choke). 9th Island Poke Bowl The ingredients are decent, but my poke bowl was underwhelming. I'm a stickler for listed ingredients under the menu descriptions to match what is served. My bowl was missing the "crispy onion and crispy garlic". Instead I was given raw onion and no garlic. The only saving grace was the fresh avacado. I highly recommend checking your food before leaving... The poke nachos were delicious though. Glad I had that too, so I wasn't completely disappointed in my meal... Also, their to-go container for the poke isn't exactly a bowl. It's in a sort of large soup container. Just took me by surprise. read more

The food is so good. Genuinely. The music is so loud and uses so much profanity that I cannot hear my children speaking and I cannot contain my disappointment. Had to ask for my food to go because my little girl is forced to listen to blaring music that uses the words "fuck" and "nigga" over and over again. Who doesn't like the crispy bits on cooked food?! I see quite a few complaints about the chicken being burnt, have none of you ever been to or seen a BBQ? I personally enjoy the chicken offerings here, especially the "burnt grilled chicken" as the char gives a nice distinct flavor. This is now my to go spot for a local plate when i need a quick meal as the price points are very attractive for the offerings. The staff has always been very nice, the patio area is a nice bonus on a warm day, and they haven't tried to pull the huge increases in prices (yet) like others. read more

Based on a referral from an acquaintance, I brought my wife to try this place out for our first time. After looking at the menu, I had decided to go with a simple bbq chicken plate, poke bowl, and 2 cans Hawaiian Sun. As I was ordering, the sense of aloha spirit was definitely non existent. It was disappointing to my wife, who isn't from Hawaii. She's always experienced my friends and family and also other locals in Vegas to present that feeling of aloha. We found our seats and was quickly served the food we ordered, it came with no utensils or plasticware. My wife then walked up to the counter and asked for a fork and knife. I witnessed the employee with a sour look on her face as she explained to my wife where the utensils were. The employee who took our order had not explained to us that the utensils were around the corner, out of plain sight, and we were supposed to get it ourselves. Also, there is no posted signs saying where the utensils were located. We hadn't even started eating yet and I'd already been turned off by the lack of communication and bad service. Anyhow, we dug into our meals hoping the food would be their saving grace. My chicken plate was a decent size. But the BBQ chicken was over cooked, stringy, and dry. The chopped green onion looked dry and dehydrated (look at picture). Mac salad and rice was good. The poke bowl my wife had was pretty good tasting. Needless to say, we came in for our first time to a "hawaiian" establishment that served with no aloha and dry bbq chicken. This "local" place belongs in Waikiki where good food and good service don't exist. For those that had a great 1st time experience here, feel grateful. My mom and I ordered two tonkatsu ramen, which comes with pork. When we got our bowls, it looked like pieces of chicken cut up. I asked the counter if it was pork or chicken, and she stated it was pork. I went back and took a bite and it was definitely chicken. When I went back to the counter, she stated she checked with the chef and he told her they ran out of pork. I told her my mom does not eat chicken, so what are my options. She stated they could remake a ramen with no meat. I asked if there was any sort of discount they were offering, and she stated no. She confirmed with the manager, who came out and told me they could not offer any discount. So I requested a refund instead. Perhaps before making the ramen, the chef could have informed the counter to ask if we wanted chicken instead? Or maybe when the staff set down our bowl, the chef could have informed them what he did? Either way, substituting something without informing the customer, is bad service. And not offering any sort of discount in this situation, is bad service. What is someone is allergic to chicken? That could be dangerous. read more

This place is great! I love that they have both poke and Hawaiian BBQ. Got the spicy garlic chicken plate and 9th island poke bowl. Both did not disappoint in terms of flavor and portion size! They both still tasted fresh even though I got it to go. The spicy garlic chicken just has a tiny bit of spice, which most people should be able to handle. The poke had a good amount of fish, they were not stingy like some places. Unfortunately the one criticism I have that made this short of perfection was that the rice was a little soggy. The thing I don't like about some of these other places is the restaurants are less kept and a bit dirty. This place is super clean and sanitary. Now for the food. The ingredients are very fresh and tasty! No old ingredients sitting under a heat lamp here! I ordered the garlic chicken at the recommendation of the worker and the bbq chicken. Best I've had in Vegas! Such good flavor and the meat is juicy and tender and not overcooked or old! I can't wait to come back and try more of their items. Wow! I never thought I'd eat such amazing Hawaiian food on the mainland! Originally came in for the Bowlology section as they have my favorite Açaí Bowls and ended up with a mixed Hawaiian Plate. So good! (Or ono) the portion was HUGE! I had to take half of it home (no complaints there). Chef is from Oahu so that explains how good this was. The pulled pork is smoky, moist and delicious! I also had the garlic chicken which I had to try to stop eating as I was so full. Glad I did so I could have it for dinner later. Staff was on it. It was super busy so I expected a wait, but was surprised by how attentive and quick they were given the amount of people there were in there. Very recommended. This spot had so many different options to pick from. It was difficult to choose, but I was keeping myself mental notes to try a different dish for the next time I visit. I do not live by this area but a friend of mine did. One of the main reasons we chose this spots is because they had outdoor patio seating. It was a mutual decision when meeting just to be on the safe side because of the pandemic. The patio seating was under the shade and the temperature while dining outside was not bad. The weather was at least 99 degrees. We went around 11:30 on a Sunday and it was already busy. The lines were pretty long when we got there but it went by pretty quick. My friend and I did not wait more than 10 min to order. It was enough time to take our time to browse the menu. The food was delicious. The amount was enough for me to have left overs for dinner. The poke nachos was definitely amazing! Loved the sauce and the poke tuna was fresh! I also loved the dinner plates. I love how pretty they were! The fountain drink area is open for self serve which is a nice options for refills. All the workers were wearing masks and often spraying down the patio seating when someone leaves. I love seeing how clean and attentive they were to it. There is a location by the Summerlin area and I am hoping I get close to the same great experience as I did here. :) I would definitely recommend this spot for anyone who craves Hawaiian/Island food! We heard great things about the 9th Island Grill from a few of our residents at Solera at Anthem and decided to have our Luau Anniversary event catered through them. The manager, Jennifer and Chef took fantastic care of us. Everything was very organized from beginning to end. We ordered the 9th Island BBQ chicken, garlic chicken, kalua pork & cabbage, fried rice/white rice, and macaroni salad. Very generous portions for the price. We had over 200 residents in attendance at our event and everyone raved about how good the food was. We will definitely use them again for future events at our community. Similarly, the BBQ chicken sandwich was marinated in teriyaki sauce and did not have BBQ sauce. Would not have ordered it had I known, though the quality of the chicken itself was good. The cashier (small girl with glasses) especially was nice at first until I questioned about an item in the fried rice (that she knew nothing about). Rice was soft mush. How do you mess up rice? Macaroni salad had no flavor and just tasted like mayonnaise. Chicken katsu was your average chicken katsu, nothing special about it. Katsu sauce on the other hand is definitely different. Not your average brown colored katsu sauce. Theirs is red. Has some texture to it and tastes pretty good.
