Purchased through Costco. Met first with Brandon. He was easy to work with and recommended the system which matched the one I researched prior meeting him. He did not try to upsell me. The system is under Costco's contracted price; I did not need to waste time to bargain on the price. The project manager came and finalized project scope, what need to be replaced, where to place the condensation drain, the power panel location... Their team came on time on the day of installation. They completed the work on the same day. When they are done, they showed me how to operate the system. That is that. Very straight forward. Communication between the office staff is good. They are helpful in every aspect. Their office notified me that they have done the paperwork for the Costco's gift card. A couple weeks later, I got it via email. Made an appointment, they did a no-show no call. I called them and they said they would be out the next day, they showed up 15 minutes late. Then they said I would have the proposal the next day which never happened. I followed up with them, they said they would send it out in minutes. They never did. Their name should be " F plus"not A plus ! misleading name, don't waste your time with this company. They will waste yours. read more

I bought a 5-tone heat pump from Costco, and it was installed by A Plus. The installation was excellent, it took 3 full days, because of the duct work. I have no complaint on the unit and the installation. However, I just found out that I could have gotten $2,500 rebate from San Jose Clean Energy for converting from a gas furnace/AC unit to a heat pump. This rebate has been around for a while, but I did not know about it until one of my neighbors told me about that yesterday. I went to sanjosecleanenergy.org to try to claim the rebate. as it turns out I would have to apply for it for approval before the installation of the heat pump. I called A Plus to let them know that they should have advised on that, but they show no interest in this matter. It is not their job, in short. My take is that they are in this business, and they should be aware of all the rebates available for the customers, they should no interest. What a bad company. I missed out on $2,500 rebate, which is not a small change. If I can rate them now it would be a 1-star at the most. read more

We contacted Costco for an estimate after our 19 year ac failed on us. At first they gave us an appointment but then when no one showed up they told me all estimates were over the phone and Larry would call me in a few minutes. Larry was helpful, gave me the rational for the choices he would make. Let us know what he would do. Was able to shrink out costs because we had an ecobee already. All set but install date in 4 weeks out. I asked Larry what to do he explained to call the staff at the front to explain why, my wife has bad allergies and with the heat I had to open all the windows To cool the house. This was making her sicker. The front desk team was excellent they told me they will look at the schedule given my install was a one day job. They found a cancelation that we could take. The crew to install showed up on time. They were professional. Got the job done in 8 hrs. Overall good experience all around. read more

Went with them for a heat pump upgrade from furnace air-conditioning system because they are the Costco provider. Big mistake! Should've checked Yelp reviews first! They came and swapped out our fully functioning system but left with a broken system. Over the weekend we were left with no air-conditioning in extreme heat. As a consequence, it made life for us miserable and unbearable. We have a baby at home. He was not able to sleep the entire weekend. We made several attempt to contact them over the weekend to see if they can remedy the situation to no avail. It finally took them till the end of the following week to fix the broken system. They made no special arrangement to try to get the needed parts earlier or faster. Following standard procedure for a mistake they've made. According to them, they've installed a broken system but were unwilling to take any responsibilities for putting installing it. Why would they put in a broken component in the first place? Any installer worth recommending would test new components before ripping apart the existing system... They've made no effort whatsoever to remedy the situation quickly and and no compensation for the misery we suffered in the 100F+ heat. We paid over $17,000 for a week of suffering. If you're okay paying premium pricing for someone to do subpar work, then this is the company for you. Otherwise, stay away. Don't go to them just because of Costco. Highly unrecommended. read more

They did not open the A/C to look any other issues, claimed there was an unspecified "leak" that they did not want to look for and shrugged about the fact that the AC unit still did not work after the visit. Set up an in home estimate through the Costco system. Got a call back from A Plus Heating & Air a couple days later, who was fairly rude on the phone, regardless I made arrangement to have our recently purchased home available (sellers doing rent back) and arranged a sitter for my little kids for the estimate time only to have the grumpy HVAC NO SHOW. Since it was through Costco I had no way to call him directly! The next day the scheduler calls me to see about rescheduling since *I* wasn't available! I told her that A Plus Heating & Air never showed and never called! Clearly they had my correct number on file since she called me and the note on file saying I never answered my phone was wrong since its a cell and I had no missed calls or messages! I'm adding one star since the scheduler very sincerely apologized and seemed truly sorry for the inconvenience. However she gave me the number to call to reschedule which I decided to do as its hot and we need A/C. I've called and left messages twice and so far, crickets for 3 days. We have a complicated situation, this is not doable, this is going to cost a fortune, we can't get permits .. These were some of the words told by many contractors that I reached out before and after I contacted A plus. They are costco exclusive contractor. Got their contact through hero program website as we were approved for the same. Mr. John is the sales manager who visited us over weekend upon appointment and he clearly explained the process and recommended the best option. The best of which is 15% cash card through Costco( usually it's 10%) but there was a promotion going on plus 2% cash back. On top of it gave best ever rate lower than all of others without compromising on the quality - Lennox- 14 seer heating and 96% efficient AC. Appointment to install both heating and cooling was scheduled couple of weeks later. Had three professionals visited and did an awesome neat job in 2 days flat. Had beautiful thermostat installed which can be controlled through smartphone. Have a two story building don't have to go downstairs to adjust temperature anymore! Finally when we scheduled for permit inspection someone from the company accompanied to ensure everything goes smooth. Thanks A plus for keeping us warm during this unusually cold weather. Oh I almost forgot they went out of the way and gave us 2 portable space heaters temporarily for a week as our old heater was not safe to use. One thing they could have done to make it completely flawless is that we had to follow-up to get status on the Costco cash card. This is truly one person ruins it for all. We installed thru Costco, and from the sales to the installation, everything is close to perfect. Until recently called the office to ask them schedule the inspection (delayed due to Covid). After the installation, the staff at the office told us to wait because of the covid-19 and they'll give us a call or we can call back to ask about the inspection. A few months later now I called in and checked, the woman on the phone as me to schedule myself, told me that's my job. She kept saying she's not gonna wait for 30 mins on the phone to the city office for me (I called later on, no waiting). I'm happy to do that myself, but this woman, with no explanation, no apologize for the situation, simply keep interrupting me repeating I did not to speak to her and she doesn't know who I spoke to. It was such a small thing and I'd happy to take care of myself, but it's a shame that a company with a rather good service all along hire someone so incompetent to respond to customer inquiries. read more

I just had A plus replace and install a new Lennox system in my 2 story townhouse in Campbell , through a partnership with Costco. I can't say enough wonderful things about the company, their installers, and friendly kind office staff made the whole process as painless as possible. They are responsive to phone calls , questions and arranging convenient times to complete the work. They designed an additonal duct system to generate more air flow upstairs. Everything was explained in detail which I appreciate because I'm a senior and I know nothing about HVAC!!!! The company assisted in the inspection process and secured the necessary permits. Inspections passed, and my Costco re-bate card was issued quickly. I never write reviews, but they really went the extra mile, even staying till 10 PM to complete the job as promised . I was approached by the A Plus Rep at Costco, like others, and arranged for them to visit my home for an estimate. The day came and went and I waited around and no one ever came. Come to find out, they had called my phone number, but because I didn't pick up, they never came. OK, my fault for not picking up. I call to reschedule and a woman scheduled another time. That day came and went and I called to see what happened and a very rude woman called me back saying "who did you speak to? Who did you schedule this with?" Um, I have no idea. "Well, you're not in the delivery guy's schedule. Did you talk to marketing? They don't do the scheduling". Um, again, I have no idea! I just called their "call back" number. Let me start off by saying that from the first meeting with A Plus H&A, I felt good about this company. The Rep. was nice and explained the products and the whole process of removing he old System and installing the new Heating and Air system. He was very thorough explaining the differences of each Lenox System and recommend the right one for our house. We signed the paperwork for new system and scheduled the installation date. We were told that we were to receive a cash back Costco card in the mail within 4 weeks of signing the completion papers( that was in writing). The crew that installed the new system was great. I give the 5-Stars. However...it has now been over 12 weeks since we signed the completion papers and we are STILL waiting for the Costco card. I called A plus about two weeks ago and was told that since we paid for the new system by check, we have to wait up to 12 weeks for the Costco Card. I called again today and was told " you should get it within two more weeks". This is unacceptable! I am only giving 1 Star because I didn't feel the person I talked to was being truthful. The Card was to be 15% of the the cost of the new system. NOT a small amount! I wouldn't recommend this company. They failed to follow through on the wholedeal. Update: I am going to change my rating because the Costco card did finally arrive after 13 weeks. I still feel that they need to be upfront and let you know that if you are " paying by check", you'll have to wait a lot longer for the rebate card. It is in writing that you will receive the rebate up to 4 weeks after sign-off of completed job. Nothing about waiting longer for different payments. read more

A Plus setup an appointment three days in advance for a first call at 4:00 pm in the afternoon, then called me at 4:00 pm the day of the appointment to tell me the technician would be 45 minutes to an hour late because an estimate turned into a HVAC sale for them. Convenient for the earlier customer, not at all convenient for me. A call in advance would have been appreciated, however, the dispatcher or technician did not feel it necessary to provide this notice. Sending another technician would have been appropriate, but this was not offered. I felt that if a first call was starting out this way, any future relationship would be negative and rightfully cancelled. Based on this poor customer service, I am not able to give this company a good rating. read more

Well I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate on replacing my AC as it has died. Got a phone call from the Sales Guy (Darren) who was coming from Cupertino to my condo in San Jose. He sounded like he was in a hurry and didn't want to drive through the traffic to get to me. He gave me a quote over the phone which was almost $15k for a new unit in my 2 bd condo which is almost 2x what other places have quoted. His phone connection kept cutting off and we got disconnected twice. The second time he didn't bother to call back and he didn't even show up. A Plus Heating and Air was recommended to us by Costco and we couldn't be happier with their service. They replaced our furnace and added a new AC unit. The process was seemless and their team efficient and competent. They even replaced some old ductwork and added an outdoor power outlet at no additional cost. They also held my hand through the permit process--I jus had to let the inspector in to see the unit. Our heat and AC units are to code and function great. Theirs was not the least expensive bid we received, but in the middle and anyone backed by Costco has to be good! More: Two years after the install, we encountered some problems with a new hot water heater (it Y vents out with the furnace). When numerous plumbers and PG&E couldn't figure out the problem, we thought it was the Y vent A Plus had installed (per city code). Matt from A Plus Heat came out--free of charge--to take a look. He discovered (and we shouldn't have doubted A Plus' work) that a roofer had sealed off the vent. He repaired it for us and recommended we get a chimney expert soon. I recently had a heating and AC system put into my home by A Plus. I did tons of research before deciding and got a number of other quotes from other companies. A plus offered me the best deal on a Lennox 5 ton system. The project manager David went out of his way to provide me with the most optimized design for my home. Their customer service coordinator, Stephanie, was very prompt and was able to get my system installed within two weeks of getting the estimate from their project manager. Their installers Jeovanni and Danni were very professional and removed my old system and installed my entire new system including all the ducting in only three days. I used A Plus Heating & Air to replace my furnace in 2010. I was happy with their installation and they replaced the old ductwork. They were on time and very professional. The only problem is the vent pipe on roof leaks water on the furnace when it rains. I was in an unused bedroom this winter when I noticed a ticking sound. That bedroom is adjacent to the heater closet, so it has been leaking all these years without being heard. I went to the attic and saw the drops coming from the roof. I put an aluminum pan in the attic which catches the water. I went up to the roof to look at the furnace vent pipe. It is just sitting on the felt without any flashing to prevent the water from dripping down the hole for the vent pipe. It is on the wood battens used for the concrete tiles, so it is sitting above the felt. Now, when the forecast is for rain, I cringe when I think of A Plus Heating. read more

The sales man who came out was rude and condescending. He was especially upset that my husband wasn't home, even though I had told the person who phoned me that my husband could not be available, but that he is comfortable hearing information from me. A-Plus uses deceptive sales practices. We recently put in a furnace and A/C unit. The salesmen promised us $2000 in rebates and tax incentives. After the unit was installed and we had paid them the entire balance, they said that we were not eligable for $350 of these rebates. After many phone calls and investigation it turned out that A-Plus was supposed to recycle the furnace. They did not do that. It took me three months to get satisfaction from Home Depot Home Services. A-Plus told me they could not do anything to help. It was the salesmen, not them??
