It's got all the diner classics (burgers, chili dogs, malts, fries) plus dozens of loaded menu items packed with extra ingredients for the adventurous. I stuck with a classic chili cheese dog. The chili tasted homemade, unlike a lot of other restaurants, and was super meaty, and the dog was high quality. The seasoned fries we ordered on the side, however, were lacking in much spice at all. My wife and I had dinner there tonight and we were disappointed the food and by the overall services. The food lacked flavor and was serviced only warm; not hot. The French Fries were cold; the Sweet Potatoes were just warm not hot. The servers never wore mask: serving the food or when picking up the check. When we left the Diner, we noticed that Cooks and Order Takers were not wearing mask. Even though they had signs posting to wear Mask. It makes one feel that they don't care about the Governor's Virus guide lines. No wonder that North San Luis Obispo County has a high Virus count. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

So it takes me a while to get around to this review stuff but that being said, here I go! I've been there 2 time since they opened. Both times I've been there I thought the service was better than average. The staff were friendly and kept our drinks full. The food I thought was terrific. I like this place. The food is fresh/tasty and the people working there are friendly, but not smothering. One of my favorite things to eat here is the 1-2-3 breakfast combo with eggs over easy. Their biscuits and gravy is really good. Also, get a mimosa if you drink. Their mimosas are huge and a good deal! Please don't drive directly afterwards. Stay safe. My only gripe about this place is that two out of the four times I've been there, there have been flies buzzing around the dining area, and outside the bathroom. Went to lunch at ATown Diner and ordered a virgal burger! One bite and it tasted rotten. The meat was raw! I went inside to tell them. I asked if they changed their burger? It did not taste good. They said yea the bun and meat! I told them that was one of the most disgusting burgers that i ever had! The lady said she would tell the owner. Didn't offer me anything else! We ordered the aforementioned food, with two orders of chicken strips, an adult and a child's. We only received one, and had to reorder the second. When the second arrived, they were both the same size, both kids. Good stuff! My first time here. French toast is made with sourdough. Normally I don't do sourdough, but this was good...until I got that weird (personal preference issue, not quality issue) sourdough aftertaste. But never fear because it was accompanied by two perfectly cooked over medium eggs and three slices of awesome bacon also perfectly cooked. The server was very friendly and my coffee never dipped below half a cup. It's also designed to keep the noise level low, which is nice, especially at breakfast time. As diners go, this was a total treat! The menu was so creative, and unique, offering options which included so many fresh options, such as arugula, avocado, mushrooms, and more! I've worked in restaurants most of my life, including a Master Japanese Chef, who taught me so much, and I look out for many of those things from the moment I step into any eatery! I stopped here on a very long drive from up north, heading south. My intent was A&W, because I was craving a homestyle meal, but I hadn't been to one since the 70's, and they're a fast food joint now, and nothing like the A&W I remember going to when I was a kid. So, I drove back to this diner, which I had passed. I'm so glad I did! The combinations they offer were similar to produce I use in my own cooking, and fresh, too! I told my server what was standing out on the menu for me, and asked her to decide for me. She ordered a burger with swiss and mushrooms, and it tasted as good as what I'd prepare at home, where I cook with cast iron, copper, and glass...no nukes or plastic! The servers were all very friendly, and cheerful, and so were the patrons! Such a treat all around for a solo diner, who'd never been to the area before. It's been a little over a year since I last wrote a review and I've been a solid customer ever since my first time. I'm the kind of person that loves salad. I like really big, in your face, delicious, soul-satisfying salads and A-Town Diner delivers just that. Their full Cobb salad will burn a hole in your wallet at $10.95, but when you see the generous portions of toppings you'll soon realize that that $10.95 is totally cool with you. Every time I've come the service has been friendly, personable and quick. In the peak hours (breakfast or dinner time) the place has been packed. However the hosts don't lose their cool and everyone is seated within a reasonable time of arriving. My friends have raved about the burgers and fries. We love this little diner! We've been here several times since moving here and we've yet to be disappointed. The food is good, the service is no nonsense but efficient, and the place is comfortable enough to show up even after a full day of mowing and building a chicken coop (yes, I know this from experience!) I adore their biscuits and gravy, fried chicken...even the fish off of their daily special menu. We took home their berry cobbler once, too - so yummy. Tried the Black and Tan rings... they were equally kinda plain. Service was also slow. They may have been short-staffed that night. This morning, I got the "Garden Fresh Veggie Omelet," but there were no mushrooms, no bell peppers, maybe an inch of a zucchini very finely sliced, lots of tomatoes and probably a half-cup of onions -- I like onions, but c'mon.
