I had hope that my AC repair would go smoothly despite all the negative reviews I found for A1 Austin Appliance Repair and Terrance Drayton. Unfortunately all the negative review is true. Terrance Drayton was sent via Amazon Home Warranty as well. He just showed up to collect the service fee and left without returning again. During the week after he left, he made up many excuses about not receiving replacement part, people already on the way, dropped his phone on the ground... and eventually not answering calls. Receive the compressor today. Appreciate the labeling indicating right side up. Though EXTREMELY upset. As I as waited for this to complete a my repair. Opening the box, the inside was totally saturated in oil. The compressor is not new, as stated in the listing. It does not resemble the box that was on your listing as being sealed and New. If so why wasn't that box enclosed in the packing box. What I received was a used compressor that was previously cut out an older unit. There is a Schrader valve on the process tube and the suction and discharge tubes are totally open. Even if this unit was serviceable. It now cannot be given the oil loss and the fact that the system has been compromised with air entering it through the open discharge and suction lines. Unless this was shipped by mistake, which appears not given the wrapping in plastic. Upon sending this review I received answer back. Calling me a liar he states the one he sent me was brand new and he was selling it because it didn't match the refrigerator he bought it for. With back-and-forth dialogue he continues to state that he doesn't cheat people and the item he sent me was new and he go ahead and install it and it would work and he would give me a one-year warranty. Unfortunately you cannot install are used compressor. Especially one that's lost most of its oil and its expend exposed to air which contaminate the rest of it. I'm discussing with the company that process the payment for a refund. Based on the other reviews, this person is definitely a scammer and only wants to screw you. read more

Avoid if you can. Wouldn't have dealt with this business at all however, they were contracted through my home warranty. All the themes from the previous negative reviews are true, so I won't belabor a point. I did my best to be patient with Terrence Drayton for a faulty dishwasher part that's likely a 10-15 min job, however after a month of excuses, reschedules and flat out ghosting my appliance is still not fixed. I do my best to support local small businesses but I unfortunately I had to move on. read more

My dryer stopped drying, it tumbled but did not dry. I went online and found A1 Austin Appliance. The service man answered the phone immediately, and came to my home a short time later (on a Sunday morning). He knew almost immediately what the problem was and told me he could fix that day. He did have to go to south Austin to get a part. He returned later that day, repaired the dryer, and my problem was solved. He is a little hard to understand, but he knew what was wrong, fixed the problem in one day, and saved me several hundred dollars. He gets a five star review. read more

If I could I would give this company 0 stars. They are crooks. This company sent Terrance Drayton to my home to service my AC. They were sent via Amazon Home Warranty, which is another company to not do business with. Terrance informed me that my AC was done and quoted the price for a new unit. He started the installation on May 17th and assured me it was a 2 hour job. Well it's May 28th and I have another company coming out to fix my brand new AC unit. You see Terrance left my house on Monday the 23rd to get a thermostat and have lunch and he never returned. I have already paid for this unit as it was working after he first put it in so now I have to pay again for someone to fix it! I'm disabled and buying a new AC unit was a huge amount of money and now to pay on top of that is beyond expensive. Stay away from this company as well as Amazon Home warranty. read more

I absolutely do not recommend A1 Austin Appliance Repair. Terrance is dishonest and lacking integrity. He removed our broken icemaker and a few days later reinstalled the same unit. Several attempts to correct the issue, despite his promises to do so, were unsuccessful. read more

AUSTIN TEXAS/BELL COUNTY/WILLIAMSON COUNTY/TRAVIS COUNTY... DO NOT USE. THIS IS THE WORST. DOES NOT DESERVE ANY STARS.. My stove broke on 07/30/2023. I put the claim in same day. I was assigned this company thru my home warranty. After a few days, I had to call and set up an appointment. Then Terrence no showed that appt. And then one after.. for 3 and a half weeks he no showed every time. He had excuse afer excuse. Even avoided my calls and texts for weeks.. Its always his truck broke down, family emergency, another broke down truck.... ETC.. He finally showed up and said one thing was broke.. ordered the part.. but did not show up again for 2 weeks.. then said it was another thing broke but I needed a new stove due to fire risk and he was going to submit the form for my stove to be replaced. A week later, he still had not submitted it. I had to call and complain a 3rd time with my home warranty in order to get anything done. Stove finally came 4 days ago.. and guess what, he has no showed again to install it.. because of a broken down truck.. and wont answer my calls or texts. It is Oct 6.. My appliance insurance issues them my contract to service my washer 12/29/21 and it's been 5 weeks, 5 WEEKS of lies and disappointment! Saying the part was back order to the part didn't come on. I have to say, the reviews for this company really threw me for a loop. My call was returned immediately, he showed up on time, I gave him cash for the parts so of course I asked for a signed receipt. He came back a few hrs later, with his kids. This was fine, I understand the work life balance. Very well behaved children. They played quietly as he fixed both my washer and dryer. He kept me posted on what, why, how and proved the prices on line. I had no issues at all and my washer and dryer are purring like a kitten. read more

Did my best to be patient w/ this company thinking they gave me a great deal. Big mistake in hindsight. After some hesitation continuing with this company after reading less than favorable reviews on here, Terrence assured me it was his dad that was doing the bad business practices & he was trying to change A1's bad reputation, so I skeptically let him finish the job. What followed was a long-winded series of promises to get the job done right after some supposedly 'new' crack unit that doesn't cool well at all was installed only after i paid for the unit in full. It didn't cool well and we were left in our house during the pandemic with 80+ degree temps. Couldn't get anyone to come back and fix it, had to call another company to come get my unit working properly and charged me about the same amount i was charged by A1 so ended up paying twice. Just felt obligated to make sure no one else would be subjected to go through what i just went through. I would highly recommend never using this company. They came to my house mid-July to assess the issues with my oven. After realizing the problem, they ordered the part, (which I don't even think it was ordered), charged my credit card and never showed up to complete the repair. I called and texted almost every day since, with no response. Never ever use this company. read more
