It's pretty flakey like some in SF on my social media feed

Chinese New Year has arrived in San Francisco and it's time to get our good fortunes in order. After having long noodles or dumplings for good luck you can also enjoy some dessert. On the start of the Lunar New Year some places are closed in observation on Chinese New Year. There is a place on Stockton street which has all the essentials for a good dessert to start or end the Chinese New Year. You can get already prepared desserts or customized cakes for any event . This place is called AA Bakery & Cafe. On a Chinese New Year stroll on Stockton street in San Francisco Chinatown I landed at AA Bakery & Cafe. Inside there are lots of bake goods available. I wanted to try their egg tart. It was not too sweet and it was tasty but a bit flakey like some in SF. They also have inside some Japanese cheesecake along with sweet mango desserts and cakes with a cherry on top. They also have savory treats like corn buns and traditional Mexican buns. This a great place for all to enjoy some delicious treats for Chinese New Year's. They have sweet treats with "strawberry" and some topped with a "cherry "and others savory treats like ham and cheese they "carry"for Chinese New Year's which starts in the middle of "February" Enjoy your "8 meal course" which includes duck and noodles for good luck in the Lunar year because it's the main "source "for the year of the "Fire Horse" to ride it out and stay on "course"

I grew up in Chinatown; some things change, and some things stay the same. Whenever I am in Chinatown, I always buy buns and egg tarts from AA Bakery. The buns have always been consistent, and the staff is always friendly. From time to time, I also find an open seat to sit and enjoy the Chinatown vibe, watching seniors talk about the old days while sipping coffee with their friends. Even regulars coming in to buy buns can be recognized by their interactions with the staff.

Randomly came across AA Bakery during a Saturday morning Chinatown run. We were hitting a few of our usual spots when I noticed AA Bakery tucked along Stockton Street. Despite the weekend rush, there was barely a line -- a pleasant surprise given how packed Chinatown usually gets. Inside, trays of assorted Cantonese buns, cookies, pastries, and cakes were all neatly lined up and ready to go. - Dan Tat (Egg Tart) -- silky, custardy center with a light jiggle; crust was flaky though slightly thick, still comforting and classic. - Rousong Bao (Pork Floss Bun) -- the pork floss almost melts into the bun like a glaze, adding a subtle sweetness that balances perfectly with the salty, savory floss. In the back, a few Cantonese aunties and uncles were gathered around, playing mahjong and sipping Hong Kong milk tea -- almost straight out of a scene from Interior Chinatown. Overall, AA Bakery is a charming and underrated gem among the many bakeries and dim sum takeout spots in SF Chinatown. I'll be back to try more of their baos and HK-style milk tea.

This is a tiny little Asian bakery. The street it's on is super busy and has absolutely no parking. Pretty common problem for sf, especially Chinatown. Insane quality baked pork buns. The bun is fluffy yet chewy. The pork filling is rich, salty and sweet. Their mango pudding is super creamy and custard like. There's always 2-3 women loading up goodies into their pink to go donut boxes. I try to stop every time I'm in sf. I love this place!

AA has become my go-to spot for pineapple buns because of the convenient location in Chinatown, efficient service, and good quality. Every time I go, The line moves quickly, and I don't have to wait that long to get the goods. The buns are super cheap at just $1.50 each, and the credit card minimum spend is only $5, which is the lowest I've seen. The buns retain their freshness too even if left in the small plastic bags for a day or two at room temperature. I do wish the serving bags were a bit bigger or that they provided a takeout bag with handles, but it's better for the environment that they don't, and it's on me to be prepared and bring a tote next time.

This is hands down one of the best bakeries I have been to within china town. I got the matcha cheese cake and the egg desert as well and it was so savory and tasty. The picture that I attached below is the matcha and it was so creamy. It has an authentic matcha taste. They have so many other pastries there that are delicious that I'd recommend everyone to try. If you are walking in Chinatown definitely stop by this place. The staff is super friendly. There's no seating inside it's more of a walk around which makes the experience better!

They have a line but it goes by very quickly. I got an egg tart and it was alright. The tart came out very hot like top was mega cooked but inside a bit unsettled like not fully cooked yet. The crust was very flakey and dense.

That egg tart was delicious. Soft, tasty. I'm probably going to go here from now on for my egg tart and it was HUGE!!! Can't be that. Lady in the back counter was so sweet how could I not go back!

I went inside today. Must purchase at least $5 to use credit cards here. Not bad at all.

I tried the regular croissant, the almond croissant, and the kouign-amann. My favorite was 100% the almond croissant. All were amazing but the flavors and textures were truly exceptional. The flakiness, the caramelization, the perfect balance of flavors. I wished I had ordered 10 more. Also, the staff were so kind, the line moved quickly, and bonus: all the items freeze exceptionally well!

For someone to stake their cred on the line and vouched for the kougn-amann, I am def up for this challenge. We took a Waymo which is the coolest car I ever rode in. This bakery location was pretty far from the hotel, but since our friend said this is the one she often visited, so off we went. The surrounding area for this location was nice and seemed to be in a good neighborhood. Since there is no seating (which is a pity), I bought a cup of hot chocolate from next door and we sat at their seatings. Hence no eating of ambiance here. SERVICE 5/5 I have to say the staff here worked really fast despite the line. They were very efficient but not lacking the basic friendly vibe. FOOD 4/5 Kouign-amann 3/5 Sadly, my friend's cred was gone. It was just an ok kouign-amann. There was not enough sugar and I def have better kouign-amann elsewhere. Mademoiselle Louise in Houston had one of the top kouign-amann I had evereaten. It was in year 2020 and I could still remember the wonderful kouign-amann there. Savory scone 5/5 Luckily I got to try the savory scone which was very flavorful and scrumptious. Highly recommended. Our friend took a bite of the kouign-amann she bought to bring home, she commented yea it was not very good, tasted diff. My brother had a butter croissant, and commented it was flakey and pillow-y at the same time. However, it lacked of a good butttet taste. Perhaps that was the reason the kouign-amann I had paled in comparison to those I ever had, which were usually made of French butter like Elle & Vrie and other gourmet butter. I would still recommend this bakery and the best time I would get the savory scone.

With a crispy undercarriage and still somehow perfectly chewy melty, it had a great balance . I also got a chocolate chip cookie which was massive for the price, chewy and not too sweet. The service was quick but the out door seating was full today, which reflects the popularity of this quaint and highly popular location. Luckily it's a quick walk to the park and even through the extra distance, the pizza was still crispy and delicious.

My friend has gone to the other location a few times and said the other one was better, but this is my one off experience with Arizmendi. Ranked from best to worst, we got the: - almond croissant: kinda dense for a croissant but simple, lots of filling - daily pizza which was triple mushroom with a sesame ginger vinaigrette: a little gimmicky, smelled stronger than it tasted, not bad but wouldn't reorder, kind of dry but love the crust - cheese roll: dry as is but probably better warmed up, tasted like the pizza crust - chocolate mint cookie: very crispy edge with a softer middle, personally was too crunchy for me bc I like a softer cookie, definitely needed more mint - cowgirl cookie: letdown, had high expectations but this was super dry and needed more mixins Open to trying more pastries here because there is a large variety and wish the daily pizza flavor on our visit was better. Prices are fair and there was a line that didn't take too long.
