The food was hot and fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wish there was more seating but it was more of a NYC feel standing and eating my big slice of pizza.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Review #923 Posted on 9.10.25 We came to Abe's on Saturday the 30th for a few slices as we had too much time to go for our dinner reservation. We looked for reviews for all the Pizza spots close to us. This place is right near the BART station where the cable cars are near too, close to Union Square. The pizza is pretty quick, and did the job/trick. We for a pepperoni pie to go. It was thin enough, not too thick which is big for me in judging pizza. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pretty convenient yet simple and accessible location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would recommend for a quick bite.

Pepperoni Big Slice Very Good Got the combo, easy lunch, fast service. This place used to be a blondie's but the pizza still hits the same.

Pizza is bomb, so good and decent price with a drink. Got the classic pepperoni and ate it so fast because it was delicious. They have a lot of interesting pizza choices for next time.

Counter top right when you walk in.

Walked by this place and needed a snack so we got some pizza. Ordered a small ten inch California pizza. He made it from scratch. Only took about 10 minutes. Pretty quick. Delicious pizza. Good amount of toppings. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Chill environment. No actual tables. Bar stools and high bar style to eat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Simply put, this pizza is delicious! My friend and I stumbled on this place on our way to a movie and had time to grab a bite first. I went with a simple slice, pepperoni. I ordered on their self service machine or you can also order at the counter. The slice came out fairly quickly and it was crispy, cheesy and I loved the fresh garlic on the crust. Delicious! I think this may be my new fave pizza spot in SF. Looking forward to trying their other pies.

I think it totally depends on who you get at the register BUT for the most part, it's a pizza spot. I LOVE the Yelp offer here, and it's still a good pizza. Great crispy crust, garlic buttered edge crust and of course you can always add more Parmesan cheese, chili pepper flakes AND if you really like garlic, you can special request the garlic powder they keep on the side. This is the EXACT same pizza you get from Blondie's, for the exact same price with 1 difference...the Yelp app comes through for you here and not at Blondie's. So, that being said...it's up to you to make the choice

Usually a pretty nice spot to pick up a piece of pizza if you're in San Francisco. Slices are nice size pizza it's hot and fresh. I think they might have gone under some new ownership. Pizza with slightly different this time but sort of okay. Places located right on the market. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner usually maintains it pretty well and the pizza hits the spot[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I went here on a Sunday evening and will say that I was pleasantly surprised by this locale. I had passed it from time to time, but had never walked in. Located on Market Street on the same block as the Powell Street BART station, this place boasts a wide variety of pizzas and options on its menu. Heads up that this place does not have indoor seating, so everyone there was standing. I came in to redeem the "check-in" offer where if you check-in, according to the Yelp page, you get a free slice of pizza. The cashier quickly corrected me when I thought that that was the case. He said that the offer is actually a Buy One, Get One (just as a heads up). I think that Abe's (or as the box said Blondie's Pizza, and as I read in reviews) is actually one of the better pizza joints in the city (and I've visited a good number of places here in San Francisco). I was happy with the 2 pepperoni slices that I received. Both were a good size, perfectly crispy and just the right amount of bread to sauce to cheese to topping ratio. I think that this place does hit hard on the price ($7 for a pepperoni slice is much higher, almost 2x the price of other places), but you do get bang for buck on the slice.

In the pizza hierarchy, Abe's lands firming in the middle. It's serves what I believe is it's intended purpose, which is a quick slice of pizza for lunch at a reasonable price. This pizza to me isn't the type to order a whole pizza and take home. It's a very thick crusted, utility grade slices of pizza. With check in on Yelp, you can get a free slice. Also on their website is a lunch deal for one slice of any pizza along with a can soda for $5. I ended up getting a slice of pepperoni and one mushroom. Just FYI, they will charge for the pizza box as well as charge a fee for using a credit card. The employees were very nice people. Overall a decent pizza spot across from Westfield Mall, for a meal less than $6 dollars.

I've been to Tony's a few times, and the first two times, my hub and I have left raving about it and telling all our friends and fam to get to Tony's. If any menu item says Grandma in it.... you can be sure it's an incredible pizza. They're extremely accommodating and service is great. It's a l w a y s busy, even on weekdays, even in the middle of the work day. Reservations are smart! Parking is not easy but not impossible in the area. We live in the city so we always take public transportation. Within the last 6 months, I've discovered a gluten and dairy allergy that really took me down. Without getting into the gnarly details, it wasn't fun and I've been grieving pizza since this new discovery. So why would I go to Tony's with this new allergy? Because! I read that they offer a gluten free, dairy free pizza. Insane I know, but yet they offer it and I was PUMPED. When asking the waiter what I can get based on my needs, he responded to me like I was a war criminal. He was a Caucasian gentleman with brown hair. He raised his voice for all the diners to hear about my allergies, told me I couldn't get any pizza, and when I pointed out that there were options, he told me "I'll triple check if this is possible for you." When he came back and confirmed it was possible, he tells me they can do a gluten free pizza with vegan cheese and vegan pepperoni. It felt like the moment he heard 'gluten' and 'dairy,' he mentally categorized me as 'vegan' and stopped looking for ways to make the experience enjoyable. Yikes! Lol I fully recognize - girl, why did you go to a pizza spot with a gluten and dairy allergy? Yes I am not okay for this hahah but also I felt pretty embarrassed and treated really poorly. This experience doesn't reflect Tony's as a whole, but it was just a terrible interaction and that waiter made it real clear that he has no patience for anything that is inconvenient during his work shift.

Here's how it went: Service: friendly. Once off hold on the phone, and when picking up, the staff was pleasant for sure. The space: convenient walk up counter. Love a good sticker wall, and the display was nice to have. Value: honestly reasonable, especially comparatively. Ordered a small cheese and a small garlic and clam and two people could for sure share a small. Taste: other recent reviews are hitting it on the head - while the garlic and clam was decent (3.5/5), the cheese struck a core memory of elementary school cafeteria pizza (just without the tiny pepperoni diced cubes, 2/5), and both were just lukewarm, soft/not at all crisp, and just weren't packing much flavor at all. I can see Golden Boy being a workable late night solution for the City that Goes To Bed Early, but not much else beyond that at this point. Rating 3 stars at places with nice people working is not my favorite, so I'm glad that it's an institution and has stood the test of time and truly hope that they can/will calibrate on elevating their formula here, because I want to see this place deserve the love it gets.

The pizza has charred edges like Neapolitan which adds a nice smokey flavor. The crust has zero flop and a nice golden crust on top. Sauce has a tough of sweetness. I also enjoyed their use of fresh basil and the grated Parmigiano-Reggiano they throw on at the end. It's kinda like a new york slice, but a little gourmet? Very tasty for sure. Critiques: First off, each slice is $6-7, which is a bit steep. Maybe times have changed, but this is def not a budget meal, especially if you are eating multiple slices. Second, some of their already crispy slices have been sitting on display for some time and completely cooled down. When these slices are then reheated, there is a bit of an overcooked taste? Lastly, they only have a few topping options and the quantity of toppings on each slice (especially protein) is pretty sparse. I also ordered a slice of the Sicilian as well to mix things up. It was good, but the crust was just a touch too greasy for me.

When we arrived, our waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable about the beers, but honestly, that wasn't a big deal. My boyfriend ordered his pizza while I was still deciding what I wanted. His pizza came out very quickly, which we had no complaints about. The issue started when we had barely been seated for about 15 minutes. I went to the restroom, and while I was gone, the waitress approached my boyfriend while he literally had pizza in his mouth and a full beer in front of him and told him, "My chef said to charge you." He was confused but said okay because it made us wonder if they were closing. I checked the hours, and they weren't supposed to close until 10 PM--it was barely around 9 PM. I HADN'T EVEN ORDERED MY FOOD YET. I was still planning on ordering my own pizza, dessert, and a drink. Instead, we suddenly felt like we were being rushed to pay and leave. What made the situation even more unprofessional was that she left the payment device at our table for Apple Pay and then actually left the restaurant. She was the only server we had seen around, so we were basically left sitting there with the payment device and no server. We eventually had to get up ourselves to find someone so we could ask for boxes and return their payment device. No one had even asked whether we needed boxes, wanted anything else, or were finished ordering. My boyfriend didn't even finish his beer because at that point the entire vibe had changed and we just wanted to leave. We had driven an hour specifically to try this restaurant and were genuinely excited about it, which made the experience even more disappointing. I completely understand if a server's shift is ending, but there is a professional way to handle that--especially when customers are still actively eating and one person at the table hasn't even ordered yet. Someone could have simply explained that her shift was ending and introduced whoever would be taking over our table. Instead, we were made to feel like we needed to pay and leave. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. We really wanted to like this place, but being treated this way after driving an hour to come here was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
