I have called nine times since last Wednesday to sales, customer service, customer service manager with no resolution. They said I purchased the wrong unit, however they sold it and installed it and charged me for it. So, now that it has failed, it's my fault I bought it? Abt is a good place to visit if you're looking for an appliance or whatever but it can also be really annoying. We went because we know they deliver and if I recall they don't charge a delivery fee (at least over a certain amount). But when the delivery folks showed up, even though we'd arranged for them to take the old appliances (we purchased a full suite), they said they couldn't and I had to scramble to find a company to come pick up four major appliances that night, lest the townhome association throw a hissy fit. Also, the guy left something hooking the shelves together in the refrigerator we bought, so we can't remove the shelves to clean them (or adjust them if we wanted). I've contacted Abt about it and gotten no response. read more

I was trying to book an appointment to have a remote starter module changed in my vehicle, the salesperson (Alan) requested that I either pay in full for the one hour of service labor $112+ almost two weeks in advance of the appointment or pay a $25 deposit to hold the appointment slot. He says the owners instituted this policy. Does this seem odd to anyone else? I've had Abt come out for appliance service calls to my home and never required a deposit. I've never had any other automotive service company require a pre-payment or deposit to book an appointment to service my vehicle or perform work on it. I book appointments with doctors, dentists, spas, hair stylists, electricians, plumbers, and handymen and none have ever asked to pre-pay the labor or put a deposit just to book an appointment two weeks in the future. Can a general manager from Abt give me a reality check on why this policy is in place? In 2023... I had problems with AC compressor not starting. Abt came out and charged an $85 service diagnostic fee and then $249 to replace a capacitor. $334 total. FYI the capacitor cost $20 or less for the part. Update 2024... I called Abt because I was having a problem with the Trane furnace that they installed seven years ago. There was no flame coming on when the system called for heat. Abt was able to send someone out the next day, but they pre-charge an $85 diagnostic fee visit. You have to pay before they actually come out the next day. This must be something new because I always remember paying them after they actually come out and complete the visit. The technician said that my furnace needed a new gas valve, which is covered under warranty. But Abt would charge $250 additional for labor to install the gas valve. The unusual thing about this transaction was that they also required me to pay the $250 before the technician actually arrived on site and performed the work. I found this odd again because I've never run into another repair company who required you to pre-pay them for the labor before they even arrived or completed the work. I've normally had great experiences with Abt, but this is a very odd experience having to pre-pay the labor before they actually arrive and to also pay a fairly high amount of labor for something that is covered under the warranty. In total I paid $335 to fix a part that was covered under warranty for a Trane furnace that they sold me seven years ago. read more

Has Abt "jumped the shark"? First let me say, lifelong customer here. Thirty year ago, newly married my wife and I purchased the cheapest washer and dryer for our starter home because that's all we could afford. That salesman made us feel like high-rollers. He knew his stuff and he was as excited about our purchase as we were. Things have changed. Went in to Abt at their least busy time and eventually found a salesperson who couldn't have been less interested in selling me a washer and dryer. He never asked about where it would sit, how it would be used, what special features I wanted. Rather, I sold him on a model and he took my order. Not the end of the world. Waited 2 weeks and then all day for it to arrive. They took one look at where it would go and said they couldn't install it there. Bear in mind these has been a washer and dryer in essentially that spot for probably 75 years - but this was a hill too big for Abt to climb. They didn't like the hose length nor the gas line because it would require a small extension. But the deal-breaker was the hose because it ran across the floor (like it always had) because it was a tripping hazard. It's like they were looking for a reason to not install it. Maybe they were tired. It was the end of the day after all. Was told it was their "policy". On a positive note, they refunded the $2711 I had spent and I went to Grand Appliance in Forest Park. Don't think I will be back to Abt. It just feels like they are living off their past glory and don't really care about that young couple buying the cheapest washer and dryer like they did 30 years ago. read more

I spent a few thousand dollars on appliances this year. Two months later the refrigerator stops working. I had to wait two days for a technician to come to my house with no parts only to tell me he has to order one that could take 2-5 days. They offered a loaner fridge for a $600 refundable deposit. That would have taken another two days to arrive. So everything in my fridge and freezer is no good. Going on a week now as I write this. All they can say is sorry. To me that is a very unacceptable answer. The worst part is they told me they can do a food loss claim after the repair is fixed. Who knows how long that will take to get reimbursed. I told them you very well just lost two customers. All they said was I'm sorry to hear that. In reality they could care less. I'm beyond pissed off about this, so in my opinion go buy somewhere else. Abt employs technicians who improperly installed and serviced my washer and dryer. Be very careful when buying appliances and using their services. I purchased an LG washer/dryer combination from Abt, with installation taking place in May 2023. Shortly after installation, the washer began leaking--not a drip, but a massive leak that caused significant floor damage in my home. It took three bath towels and almost a full roll of paper towels to dry. This is distressing, to say the least, from a brand-new washer. Abt immediately sent out a technician. The technician tested the machine, determined nothing was wrong, and left. The massive leak continued to occur, happening eight times. During this period, Abt technicians came out three times to service the machine. Each time, they would test the machine, determine "nothing was wrong," and leave, instructing me to call the store. I had to spend my weekends going to the laundromat to wash my items instead of using my brand-new washer, all while caring for a newborn. I kept in contact with the store the entire time. There were several helpful service managers I dealt with over the course of the year who worked to help me resolve the issue and coordinated the technicians, namely Tom and Tomasz. These were the only two competent people employed by Abt that I dealt with, and they deserve recognition for their excellent service. Unfortunately, the technicians Abt sent were not qualified to fix the problem. Abt eventually coordinated with LG and sent out an LG-employed technician. Within 2 minutes of testing the washer, the LG technician determined that the appliance had been incorrectly installed by Abt. Specifically, the massive leak was occurring because the water pressure had been incorrectly configured during installation. The LG technician said this was "common sense" and that any technician should have been able to identify the issue immediately. The LG technician observed the floor damage caused and noted that any significant leak like this should have been addressed immediately as it clearly indicated improper setup. The LG technician was able to correctly configure the water pressure within 20 minutes and fix the issue. I am a reasonable person, and tried first to resolve this with Abt directly. The Abt Customer Service resolution for the significant floor damage caused to my home, the stress of not having a working washing machine, and having to use a laundromat for nearly a year, was far from the "excellent service" Abt claims to provide. In fact, Abt has not offered me any resolution or customer care for their improper installation and service. I communicated directly with Abt customer service many times, but they offered no resolution because LG does not have a PDF detailing the service. Abt sent out this technician and can confirm the service occurred, but they are not willing to provide any resolution for an issue they are wholly responsible for. This is a shame for any business. Long story short, I am posting this review to warn customers of the poor customer service, improper installation, and abysmal appliance service provided by Abt. Beware of buying from this company, as you may receive technicians who are not qualified to install your machine and cause damage to your home, as well as so much time and money from not being able to use your machine. read more

They were not able to install an NEC-compliant electrical whip connector to my new appliance and they did not test to confirm if it was a grounded line. I HAD TO DO THESE MYSELF. Hello? Safety? ABT deliveries do not bring tarps, even during snowfalls. I had to use my own floor coverings to protect our new carpets. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE: ABT installers were disrespectful of our home and rude. We had a small new area rug that they shoved aside, wrinkled & creased, instead of rolling it up. ABT installers do not text you any heads-up before they arrive suddenly within their 5-hour windows. ABT installers replaced my short, clean steel flex vent in perfect-condition with a cheap plastic one without first asking me. ABT sales recommended the wrong size appliance. They installed a brand new garage door for a neighbor just over a year ago, and it broke a few days ago. They won't fix it because they say it was only a one year warranty. I believe the cable came off because the track was not placed in the correct location so I don't think putting the cable back on is going to last very long and the current track is likely compromised due to misplacement in the install installation, causing the cable to tug on it entirely too hard. I believe ABT owes this man an entirely new track, and free installation and fix of this problem since the reason it is broke is due to their incompetent Installer, which is not the homeowner's fault but Abt's fault for selecting incompetent installers. Actually, they said they would fix it, but that they would charge him for putting the cable back on the track, not even suggesting that it was the track that needs to be removed, replaced and put in the proper location. If they come out and put the cable back on the current track, it's only gonna come off again for the same reason that it came off more than one year, but less than two years after installation. read more

Was I super excited to go to an appliance store on my free Saturday? No. However, when I arrived, Abt shocked me. My wife said it best - Abt is like Las Vegas for appliances! Everywhere I looked, something brilliant awaited me. We got fantastic service looking for our new kitchen appliances and got fantastic price matching and even went on to beat any competitor. Ordering was easy as cake, and delivery was a breeze! Once we took care of business, we walked around the store for 2 hours, and I know I still didn't see everything. Best place ever in my opinion. Mind you, I have posted the same review, twice on google, under their company. Afraid of the truth? I bought a couple of items from this store. They have dropped majority of the stuff I have bought or destroyed. Not once or twice, but about 4-5 times. Very careless and will throw your newly bought items around. I bought a subwoofer amplifier for my car, items dropped from their carts during transport, face hard on the concrete, they expected me to still use it. No thanks, not with all that 12v high output amp powering 1000w subs in my car. Something inside it broke. Definitely could cause a fire. I offered to have it exchanged but did not want a "return" sale on my end. They made me return it and buy another. Bought a watch for my cousins 30th birthday, the tech screwed up the linkage. When my cousin put it on during dinner at a restaurant, linkage got loose and the watch fell on the ground. Very embarrassing on my end in front of many. It was a pretty expensive watch too. Told ABT to fix it, not acceptable, they told me to return it and buy another. Again, not my fault. I bought a MacBook Pro from here. Was giving me screen blackout issues and keyboard malfunctions during the first week. I checked my battery cycle and it came with about 35 CHARGE CYCLES!!! Brand NEW out of the box. Told local Apple Store about it. They said it's definitely odd, and their laptops out of the box have only 1-2 charge cycles for testing max! I told ABT apple store about it, they said their equipment is manufactured sealed. BS. I wanted to exchange it and get another with low cycles, someone had definitely used my laptop before and it seemed sketchy, looks like it was sealed by ABT and sold me a used laptop! Since then I had to get my whole battery and keyboard replaced from my local Apple Store. Very disappointed. Showed receipt and proof of charge cycles and blackout to the ABT Apple Store. They did not help. Refused return and exchange. Strange. The manager of the store, DAVID. Very immature and rude gentlemen. Came out to me, yelling at me, arguing, and I almost thought he was going to attack me. Said, I had too "MANY" returns, yeah sure due to all of ABT mistakes and blaming it on the customer. I explained to him that it's not my fault for all these returns and the mistake was on the company. He told me to get out of the store and that he marked me as banned do not sell list. Childish. My aunt came to gift us a new appliance for our house, when she placed the address of our house, David came out to her too, yelling saying you cannot shop here and no one in this house hold is allowed to buy, or to buy for us. Our Sub Zero refrigerators ice maker quit working earlier this late summer, a very knowledgeable tech, Keith Felix came to our rescue, it was the paddle only, it was dis lodged for some reason. After he manipulated it and re attached it our issue was resolved. I appreciate the fact that Keith was honest, I thought we would need a new ice maker. This situation is the primary reason I shop at ABT. They stand behind the sale and their employee have integrity. Well the issue reared its head and the paddle became dislodged again. I made an appointment and requested Keith, he just left, fixed it again. This time it was covered from the last visit. African Americans please avoid this store. I recently applied for financing for this store for an item. When I applied I put the exact amount needed for my pc: I was approved and I proceeded to place an order for my item for pickup. I was told by ABT that I could not use my financing and that I was red flagged and if I wanted to purchase a computer from them I would literally bring cash. I said you know i can bring anything needed to verify my identity when I come into the store. When I got to the store they put in the notes not to sell me any item unless I purchased them in cash. One thing I'm not a drug dealer who walks around carrying thousands of dollars in cash. Second thing I own 2 successful businesses so when I finance items I know exactly my purpose any large items I finance to leave as much working capitol around for my businesses as possible. So I found it kind of strange that I was being told to "bring cash" to purchase a computer. When I got to the store even with proof of my identity I was still refused to use my account which I was approved for with synchrony bank. I was told by someone how they was defrauded before and all type of things that didn't make sense to me being that I finance literally every large Item I buy. I was insulted over and over again By the staff of this place with no remorse they were 100% sure that I was committing fraud but I gave them no reason to believe this or to even think this way. Eventually I got my computer which in all honesty is below the quality of my standard of living but it was for an 8 year old so it is what it is. Ordered several components to upgrade my vehicle's sound system - over $800.00 worth. ABT shipped and UPS lost the package. As I watch shipping for these items closely, I contact ABT to let them know that the package was missing (from my prior experience, likely stolen), and sure enough later that day I got an alert that ABT had filed a claim. To my surprise though, they only included 1 item from the order on the claims form; and I was told I would have to wait another 7-10 business days for UPS to get back with them. Only once they heard back from UPS, and/or received the items back (whichever was sooner I assume), they would then process the refund of my payment which would take an additional 5-7 business days. I explained to them that though I realized it was UPS's error, that was not an acceptable option as I already had an appointment scheduled for the install and requested to cancel the order for a refund as they would not get here on time if the package was not found in the next 24 hours. I told them logically I didn't understand as they are taking no risks as the package, if found, was already directed return to sender. I was again told tough luck as those were their policies. So asked if they would ship me a replacement shipment as it may still arrive on time, and nope, that would be too much to ask unless I created and paid for a new order to replace this one. Because what kind of dumb*ss is going to pay you double for zero products! Seriously? So, I then explained to them I would give UPS the 24 hours to try to locate the package and if not found by then (PER UPS- the additional 7-9 days are a "just in case" the package magically shows up somewhere) I would be filing a dispute with my credit card company as they have zero risk as they had already informed UPS to return the package to sender if/when found. It is absolutely ludicrous that I would have to wait for 14+ days for a refund for items I never received, had zero control of shipping issues, and that was labeled return to sender. As I said, I was willing to give it 24 hours in case the package by some miracle was located and would be delivered to me in the next couple of days - but they treated me like I was the one ripping them off! Are you kidding me!? Here's the topper... the package was actually found a few hours later and would have been delivered to me the following day, but instead is now on its way back to ABT. They STILL REFUSE to refund me even with UPS closing the claim. I am now having to open a dispute with my credit card company to stop/refund payment, even though these thieves know it's on its way back per UPS. ABT has ZERO concerns/service for their customers and are straight up crooks! ________________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE TO RESPONSE: Thank you Carmen for taking the time to support everything I stated in my original review. Please allow me to explain: 1. You claim that the package was labeled Return to Sender because I had filed a dispute for a refund. Problem with that is, my dispute was only filed AFTER it was located on 1/4 because you STILL refused to refund me. 2. You claim you attempted reaching out to me but "were unable to speak to me". To clarify, ABT made it clear to me you assumed I was a thief and REFUSED to even attempt to work with me over the situation. Zero follow ups from ABT after that. Not one phone call, text, chat, or email,... until after filing the dispute and composing this review. I can only assume the "reaching out" you are referring to is the lone voicemail I received yesterday (1/5, at 3:01pm from Jenny) stating that that UPS had again verified that they located the package and that ABS had now approved my claim and processed my refund. 3. I think my 1st two statements fully address to any one with common sense that your statement "the package still has not been located yet" just might not be honest. But just in case you have misplaced it, or for those who are detail oriented here is the tracking number for reference: 1Z5281860373760905. As for being in the business for 87 years with several "ethics and customer service awards", you may want to re-evaluate how you view your consumers. Assuming and treating them like they are all thieves, proving you are dishonest, and being incapable of owning your mistakes is quite the opposite of those awards. Fellow consumers-personal tip: Looking for any car audio/electronic components and want exceptional customer service/full support, that backs their products and services w/out implying you're a thief, or trying to use UPS as a scapegoat? I purchased an Electrolux washer and dryer from ABT almost a year ago. I purchased an extended warranty. Less than a year into its use the dryer has a screaming noise when used suggesting a belt is wearing. I called about a month ago to schedule a repair appointment. The repair guy showed up and did not have the parts to complete the repair. A second visit was scheduled approximately 2.5 more weeks into the future. Today the repair guy calls to tell me that since I have a stacked unit the manager did not send a second guy to help him move it down so he can repair it. I was furious and called the store. They said the second guy would come some time today and the visit should occur. They must think that people have nothing else to do except sit around at home and hope that their repair person will show up with the right tools and fix their almost new, lightly used appliance that is still under manufacturer warranty. The sales process was easy enough, but it has been an annoying, ongoing process to try to get my dryer repaired. Based on that I will not buy my next appliance from ABT as they do not service what they sell in a customer friendly manner. read more

I've been using the services here for 20 years. I usually drive Porsches and I've had the sound system upgraded here many times. The sound system in my previous car had been transferred to three different cars. Because for a fee they will remove it and transfer it. Its a lot cheaper than buying an all new system. Anyway my last car I didn't get a chance to remove it so I had to contact them for a new setup. I called and talked to Dan Macaroni "not his real name I just like calling him that. He looked at what I had before and told me the system I had was under powered for the speakers I had. So he put together a new system for me and "OH MY GOD" I wish I knew him earlier. This new system is kick ass and it didn't break the bank either. It only took 4.5 hours to install. And shout out to Stephanie Moreno she is Queen of customer service I could just gobble her up. Even though I bought a faulty Samsung TV from Abt and they could not give me a huge discount. They still were compassionate to my situation and treated me as a human being. Unlike the Samsung technician who lied to me about a lot of things. I got the truth from Abt and they did their best to work with me. I love the store and would still do business with them. I should probably avoid Samsung products in Abt though. Short story- 85" Samsung TV from Abt lasted a little over 2 years. Broke and needed a part that is worth the cost of TV or just buy a new TV. We recently purchased a new whirlpool refrigerator from ABT and have had a wonderful experience. Our sales guy was extremely knowledgeable and gave us some really helpful things to consider in making our selection. The delivery team was top-notch! They were on time, polite, and extremely professional. One of the guys took the time to run us through the features of the refrigerator. We probably wouldn't have even been able to figure out some of the features otherwise. (By the way, this was the same team that delivered our washer and dryer a couple years ago and they did a fantastic job then also.). 5 Stars isn't enough. My CO2 detector randomly went off 2 days in a row after cooking. Reset and thought it was Ok, but decided to call ABT today. Explained what happened to Ed in Customer Service. After a brief hold ge assured me someone would out within the hour. Manny and Jose found a faulty non code gas valve, replaced it, leveled my uneven stove and told me things should be fine but that anything further might be an issue with the stove. Ed, Manny and Jose deserve 10 Stars. ABT is the best. read more

Everyone is aware of the few downfalls of home ownership. Unlike renting, when an appliance fails, it is one of the worst feelings in the world. If you rented, it would probably be the landlord's problem. However, you are the landlord when it's home ownership. After my very negative experiences at the orange big box store, I decided to try out ABT Electronics. It is a far drive from my house, but I have heard so many things about them. The location is very easy to find and there seems to be plenty of parking. Once you enter, it is a whole different feeling of experience. The location is just massive! Plus they have a fountain in the rear, an Apple store, and a candy store. Also, there is another level to everything too. My wife and I already knew what refrigeration we wanted. However, we couldn't find it in the showroom. Therefore, we asked one of the employees. All of us walked around a little bit, and couldn't locate it. He thought maybe it was in the back but it was not. Then, it occurred to him that he might be upstairs. Finally, we found it. Amazing service since he was very determined to find it. You have to love that dedication and service. We talked about our reasoning for the fridge, what he has heard about it, and if I measured...typical friendly questions/conversations. Next, we sat down on the computer and he was able to give us an amazing deal on the refrigerator. I was happy since we were not talking about a $2k fridge, no... my wife wanted this Kitchenaid $4.8k refrigerator. In fact, we have been trailing the price on this fridge for a year and he was able to give me the best deal of them all! A week or two later, the delivery team came. One thing I didn't like about it, overall, was the lack of tracking. I got a text message a few days prior to confirm the date, but no idea what time they were coming. It would have been nice to get a window of time. However, no big deal breaker. The delivery team gave me a call when they were nearby and the service from them was amazing. Both men were very friendly and the service was remarkable. Before they left, they explained everything I needed to know about maintenance, replaceable parts, how to get them, etc. Overall, I would say that my experience with ABT was A+. Friendly and helpful staff and delivery team, location is far but parking is massive, plus... they even have a Tesla charger there which was nice since I was running errands all morning. Will do all my business here in the future. PS: It was nice to learn that I didn't even have to step foot in the store. As long as I know the model number I wanted, I could call ABT from home and set everything up. Bonus! read more

We recently purchased an item from Abt Electronics. We are located in the Raleigh NC area. The online purchase process was flawless. We had an issue with the item purchased so I reached out to Technical Support to ask for help in resolving the issue. I received a phone call (message) from Mario in Tech Support.....explained our issue.....and he advised that he would help. That same day.....I received a call from Jason (I believe). Jason explained the return process and immediately sent me an email with clear and complete return instructions. It was either that same day or the very next day that I received a follow-up message from Mario in a Tech. Support.....checking to make sure I had been assisted. Now that's customer service. Had my entire kitchen appliances supplied by Abt. Love the customer service with ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS. What a concept !! Actual humans to help you. Six years later, I'm buying another big appliance from them. Love the showroom. love the customer service and love the repair folks. Wish ABT was not so far away, but I can't get everything I like, right? I recommend ABT to anyone who wants to deal with superior customer service. Kim read more
